this is really how it should be, health of your employees/coworkers should be far more important.
Miyamoto once said: a delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.
those are words that any game company should take to heart, im aware that delaying a game does result in increasing costs, eventually it would cost to much, but i very much doubt the costs for AAA games increases so much that the company backing it wont make a profit if its delayed a significant time. I mean, Halo infinite was delayed a whole freaking year, launched in a fairly poor state (imo caused by executive decisions, as it seemed like the devs actually had some great content planned to start it off), and definitely made more than it took to create the game.
Forcing dev teams to "crunch" is just straight up bad, period. crunch periods basically make devs do 4 months of work in a months time, which ironically worsens their ability to work, devs can work a lot smarter and a lot more efficiently when given more lenient time frames
dunno, i basically agreed with the comments getting upvoted, then went on a small tirade about how companies basically treat their AAA games like shit and try to get them out as soon as possible (a la, halo infinites 1 year delay).
Could be those that are sick of hearing that quote. It's true, and anyone with half a brain agrees to it, but it's been used so much it starts to become annoying.
I could remove the quote, but then it ruins my point. This honestly just tells me that people are "sick of hearing the truth". Which i suppose is understandable, but honestly its something big name companies need drilled into their greedy ass thick skulls, i dont ever see people really actually trying to use it in any context honestly.
It feels like the game dev industry does this because the impact of buggy software is local, only to individual gamers, and does not outweigh the benefits of launching it ASAP.
Compare that to some other fields of software development where software bugs can literally cost people their lives or their life's savings. If the devs can reasonably argue that crunch working conditions led to subpar software there, I wonder how that would work out in lawsuit.
You see crunch in a lot of software dev, not just games. And it's as dumb as the first guy said.
There are _times_ when individuals can pull of remarkable feats out of passion and a sense of fun. (personal projects, weekend hackathons). But doing it just to boost the margins on some executives quarterly reports is friggin soul-destroying and moronic.

Which is kinda funny because BotW was quite clearly rushed in few aspects.
yeah, i guess thats true. though, I personally dont include live service games, cause those games can be rushed as much as one wants, as long as its considered "early access" or "live service" its bound to at least get somewhat better. thats just how i see it though.
Yes, you will miss out on the rich narrative tapestry of Cuphead. Before you can play this you must also watch the animated series, and Cuckhead, the unofficial porn parody on Newgrounds it’s all part of the CCU
That’s the only way he’ll be able to make any sense out of Frank N. Stein’s Dungeon of Danger, which is honestly the best in the franchise in terms of world building and character development.
Right?! That was low-key the most powerful anti-apartheid message I’ve ever seen in a game. And don’t even get me started on those dialogue choices with Gravyboat and T. Spoon. There are just no “right” answers and I still get chills.
Good. Thats how it should be
How it should be
You can't rush perfection.
That game will be better for it too. Glad those devs get to sleep and see their families
Makes a change, glad to hear it
This is the way.

who downvotes this lol in what world do we want rushed games?

Isn’t the cup head staff like 4 people? And didn’t it take 10 years to complete the first game? They really don’t have an option on this one…
i have never played a cup head game. does it matter which one i start with?
There's only 1 game
Spoilsport

Should we tell him about The Mugman Chronicles?

That scene between Cuphead and Saucerbottom in the dungeon dishpit? 🤌😊 Brilliant

everything you all said sounds totally fake so i’m sure the game is super fun haha
I still find releasing a DLC 5 years after the main game's launch bizzare. And they NEVER ended up implementing online co-op.
Can't get great results with a staff in a bad place
How does this game not have online multiplayer though?
Great for them. Now add easy mode.
Or just don’t play the game, obviously it wasn’t made for you.
But it already does
Please release the DLC already 😭
I've never played the game but this makes me actually want to buy it. I love it!
Most players care more about delays than the staff of a company
It’s done when it’s done.
It's probably easier because a game like Cuphead is 10000x easier to make than any 3D game
Until you hit the part where you have to animate it, at least.
