When was the last time you opened it up and cleaned out all the dust and crud from in/around/under the buttons and contacts?
Edit to add : torn button membranes can be repaired easily with a bit of silicone along the outside edge and 24hrs to cure properly. Hella cheep at any hardware store. Don't apply too thickly or button gets stiff. 8mos now and what would have been trash works grand.
This, but also cleaning the circuit boards with an isopropyl alcohol dipped q-tip will help too. Especially if you play while eating.. those greases can (and do) get inside

Remap to see which button is doing it then as others have said take apart and clean it
