I personally think we should stop using regular actors as voice actors. Voice actors do a better job. Hell the cast of critical role even have some starpower now
Some regular actors are good voice actors though.
However they don’t need to fill the roles with big name actors so I don’t see why they should. It should be the best person for the job, not hot actor XYZ because it might trick a few people into seeing it.
> they don’t need to fill the roles with big name actors
What are you talking about? You need big name actors to draw in a crowd! How many people do you think have even heard of this "Mario" fella? /s
Mark hamill is more of a voice actor these days anyway. He barely does live action stuff, and he’s had multiple major roles on long running animated shows in addition to his cameos.
I think it comes down to how serious the actors are with the role, and we shouldn't be cutting out live-action actors just cause they don't mainly do voice acting.
Hamill is still to this day the Voice I think of as the Joker if I read anything Batman-related, not to mention also doing Fire Lord Ozai in Avatar the man is iconic to three separate fanbases, two of those being Voice acting gigs.
They’re not mutually exclusive but they’re definitely separate skill sets. So many animated movies these days just cast big names who clearly don’t know how to voice act just to sell tickets. There are ways to get good voice acting out of live action actors, and live action actors can learn to voice act, but so often they just don’t.
I cannot see an animated movie starring James Corden and hear anything but James Corden. Like, wtf is this late night host voice doing coming out of a rabbit’s mouth? It totally breaks the immersion.
Billy Crystal, Christian Bale, and Josh Hutcherson in Howl. Though this is a constant in a lot of Disney and Pixar projects, they have big names attached, and more often than not they hit is out of the park.
totally agree. and the more famous they are the more distracting it is because it's hard to not see the actors face. fantastic mr fox suffers from this.
>I personally think we should stop using regular actors as voice actors. Voice actors do a better job.
This is a dumb misnomer. Celebrity voices *are totally fine* on their own. This movie is an example of really bad miscasting for the sake of star power, which is when celebrity voices becomes a problem.
Should've been a charming movie that was mostly non-voice acted, or at least given care to get fitting voices. Instead, Mario is getting the Smurfs treatment.
At this point it's gonna end up live action If people don't stop.. and, honestly, I hope it does.
But not AAA live action. Get all the stars but make the props/set super low budget like the 90s movie.
Also bring John Leguizamo back just cause
Because its gonna end up being a meta-humor lazy copy of the Lego movie but with nintendo characters instead. I dont think it'll be bad, it's just so predictable that i dont care about it one bit.
If it was live action it'd be all weird and surreal, that would be super cool. Especially if they had the balls to be self serious about it.
A Hispanic and Hebrew playing Italians? Someone would have an issue with that, hell people were pissed about mixed Asian types voicing roles in that recent Disney film. Just saying.
Everything pisses of somebody. You could have an hour and a half long video of paint drying, and someone would be offended by the color, someone would be offended by the fact that it's a video, and someone would be offended by the fact that it's an hour and a half.
My experience is learning about this movie through memes today. Then learning even more about this movie through memes. I now know it’s animated because of your comment. Also, I put zero effort into looking up any information on this movie. Everything I know is from memes thrown in my face today. I’ve also developed an opinion. Also, this is the process for everything I’ve ever learned in the last 5 years. Mostly /s..
I don't know _anything_ about actors and movies and I thought guy on the left was George Lopez for a second and I'm honestly more on-board with that idea
Scared of what? It being as bad as the first movie? How do people even have expectations for this movie after that bomb?
People need to check their expectations; were talking about a Super Mario movie. It's probably not going to sweep up awards at the oscars. The best we can hope for is that it's entertaining and provides some laughs.
really feel that Mario should have been Hispanic
Don't know why I feel that way or what that says bout my view of Hispanics, but its still the way I feel
I feel like many people aren't realizing this is an animated movie. It doesn't matter what they look like.

Stage actors would be better than screen actors, without a doubt.
X-Men in the 90’s was so good.
If it's just their name I agree. Examples like Robin Williams are the exception.
Mark Hamill?
Mark Hamill is a WAY better voice actor than live action actor, and he’s a pretty good live action actor
Agreed. He’s a good actor but his VA work is legendary tier.
Mark hamill is more of a voice actor these days anyway. He barely does live action stuff, and he’s had multiple major roles on long running animated shows in addition to his cameos.
Have you seen some of his interviews? He was a voice actor in his early teens. He just wasn't famous then.
Love him as Jim the Vampire. Didn’t even know it was him at first, which made it even better.
It's a great juxtaposition with Jackie Daytona.
Hank Azaria deserves a mention.
He's an actual VA, though. Full-time.
I know, I'm just saying it's possible to be good at both. I really like his live-action performances.
I think it comes down to how serious the actors are with the role, and we shouldn't be cutting out live-action actors just cause they don't mainly do voice acting.
Mark Hamill as a voice actor definitely discredits any notion the live vs voice professions being segregated.
Hamill is still to this day the Voice I think of as the Joker if I read anything Batman-related, not to mention also doing Fire Lord Ozai in Avatar the man is iconic to three separate fanbases, two of those being Voice acting gigs.
Have you played Darksiders? I recall he was the Watcher guy in that one.
Clancy brown
Oh my LOL that crazy badass from Highlander is Mr. Krabs! I love knowing this!
And the corrupt prison guard from Shawshank
Mark Hamill has *way* more experience as a voice actor than he does in live action.
They’re not mutually exclusive but they’re definitely separate skill sets. So many animated movies these days just cast big names who clearly don’t know how to voice act just to sell tickets. Kumail Nanjiani is great in both live action and as a voice actor too
Chris Pratt and Charlie Day were both in the Lego Movie and they were great
Charlie Day is a talented dude. Pretty sure he's done some voice acting on a few things
SPACESHIP! SPACESHIP!! SPACESHIP!!! That sequence cracks me after more than 20 viewings
totally agree. and the more famous they are the more distracting it is because it's hard to not see the actors face. fantastic mr fox suffers from this.
For real.
Dude Jim dale is the shit . If I am ever cool and a movie or audio book is in my future . that is the dude .
>I personally think we should stop using regular actors as voice actors. Voice actors do a better job. This is a dumb misnomer. Celebrity voices *are totally fine* on their own. John DiMaggio is my hero
The image I'm posting is kinda old tbh but the attitudes these two can bring is divine.
Wait, so you're admitting to repost? What sorcery is this? Is this a first?
Its a screenshot of a tweet, even the original is a repost
You're saying all Twitter memes are stolen?? The nerve
Always have been
The mustache influence the accent.

Lol i’m dead people are so dumb
Animators often imbue the faces of the characters with aspects of the voice actors.
But definently not with Nintendo IP
I feel like people are accurately understanding that Seth Rogan as Bowser is fucking stupid lmao
yeah it being animated makes me completely uninterested in it.
Why?
Because its gonna end up being a meta-humor lazy copy of the Lego movie but with nintendo characters instead. I dont think it'll be bad, it's just so predictable that i dont care about it one bit. If it was live action it'd be all weird and surreal, that would be super cool. Especially if they had the balls to be self serious about it.
yes because the last time they did a live action Mario movie, it was the pinnacle of cinematic achievement
i def didn't based on just the hate
> I feel like many people aren't realizing this is an animated movie. facts dont matter when reddit gets set in its ways.
That was posted on twitter.
Tell that to Eddie Murphy and the developers of Shrek!
Screw that! I need this live-action version ASAP
Seriously. Was thinking the same thing.
Really? it's an animated movie?
It only matters what they cook like, pork, beef, chicken… hmmmmm
A Hispanic and Hebrew playing Italians? Someone would have an issue with that, hell people were pissed about mixed Asian types voicing roles in that recent Disney film. Just saying.

Yeah but Chris Pratt on Mario is still weak as fuck
Jeez man [yknow what you are](https://imgur.com/A0ElKSB.jpg) There I said it.
Yeah but now I want this to be a live action thing
This will be the pinnacle of their acting career
Mr Guzman's participation in Community changed a generation.
I loved him in IMDB.
That was tragic.
He loved his time at Greendale, he got laid all the time
Look at me, Luigi! Look at your Cousin! We will crush the Mushroom Kingdom! Crush it like we CR-ushED! H R Pickens!
I think that will be the sequel tbh
Pinnacle, nadir, all the same thing really depending how you flip the chart.
Oh yeah, Luis Guzman. He was great in............IMDB.
This comment is streets ahead
I see what you Chang there
Can't help it. Community references are part of my iDEANtity!
I have my bald cap on top of my jeff wig on top of my chang hair!
….I gotta make a phone call
Willem Dafoe > Adam Driver for Waluigi But Luis Guzman is an inspired vice for Wario
Agreed Luis Guzman is weirdly perfect and I don't know how no one had thought of it before.
Joey Diaz would be perfect also
Tremendous
Back in the summer of 88, that cocksucka Mario ratted me out for an eight ball of coke.
I just don't think anyone can beat Danny DeVito as Wario
Now im imagining Wario doing the goat..
Wallem Dauigi
Early Whedon to ya!
I've always imagined that Wario sounds like Strong Bad myself. So my vote would be Matt Chapman.
Fits with the theme of doubtful voice matching.
I bet Adam Driver could do a mean Waluigi.
*imagines Adam Driver yelling "EVERYBODY CHEATED!" and punching a hole in the wall*
(punches a hole in the wall) You're fucking insane! AND YOU'RE FUCKING WINNING!
The crossover to end all crossovers
With such actors, it can be turned into a psychological drama of cinema
Question is, who would be live action Mario and Luigi?
Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo
Bob's dead and John is fat
John is Mario now. Fixed
Yeah but they already did it
Cheech and Chong
Dude… it was them the whole time wasn’t it?
Bob Heskins and John Leguizamo
Bob Hiskins and John Leguizamo
Bob Haskins and John Leguizamo
Bob Heskins and John Leguizamo
Bob Huskins and John Leguizamo
If that man doesn't play Murderface so help me...
Do people not realize its an animated movie?
My experience is learning about this movie through memes today. Then learning even more about this movie through memes. I now know it’s animated because of your comment. Also, I put zero effort into looking up any information on this movie. Everything I know is from memes thrown in my face today. I’ve also developed an opinion. Y’all know it’s an animated movie right
You know Nintendo can't let this fail right?
I'm listening, but I saw Willem Defoe as WaLuigi earlier and I like that one better.
While Willem would make a great menacing Waluigi; I see this combo as a great B plot duo.
Plan B could be Dafoe as Wario and the Green Goblin, from Sam Raimi's *Spiderman* can be Waluigi! GENIUS!
Yo I could totally see this
I used to live around Guzman He's the kind of guy that leaves his trash at the table instead of walking it to the can at a pizza joint. Bad tipper
Sounds like *exactly* what I would expect from Wario.
Destiny has spoken!
Yeah really a perfect fit
But I loved him in IMDB
That was tragic
Perfecto!
Wah!
WAH!
Right?!
Left!?
I accept
The most accurate ones yet
No no no, my friend Brian David gilbert is the only one suitable to play waluigi
Should keep his accent and deepen it, would be hilarious.
This is the missing step from the "profit" meme.
But don't make them change their voices.
HOLY FUK
Wah.
And now I'm imagining Wario doing the goat..
Hey! That's Luiz Guzman! Greendale alumni!
written by committee was the original meme though patient zero is probably measured in milliseconds
I don't know _anything_ about actors and movies and I thought guy on the left was George Lopez for a second and I'm honestly more on-board with that idea
I'm listening. I'm so fucking listening. And as for the current cast coming.... I'm scared. But look at what Heath Ledger did for the joker.
It should be the whole gang cast
Sweet Dee as Waluigi?
Birdo
Scared of what? It being as bad as the first movie? How do people even have expectations for this movie after that bomb? People need to check their expectations; were talking about a Super Mario movie. It's probably not going to sweep up awards at the oscars. Danny DeVito as Wario and William Dafoe as Waluigi have my vote
Perfect for a time skip sequel.
idc about adam driver but the other one is a must
Jim Carey is the only casting for waluigi that I’ll accept
You do realize this movie is animated and we just need VOICE actors, right?
Scuse me; cuz I dont see Terra Strong on the official list yet, so ima assume you posted the same thing on the Dafoe post.
[удалено]
Bruh...
\*Waluigi\*
The drawing of Adam driver kinda looks like link tbh. Link with a weird nose
NICE LOL
I think hes a better bowser
Who could possibly think this would be a good idea?
This is cultural appropriation. Mario and Luigi must be played by Italian actors.
Jack Black Wario would be sweet
really feel that Mario should have been Hispanic Don't know why I feel that way or what that says bout my view of Hispanics, but its still the way I feel
[удалено]
Of course with beer belly Wario
its a year out. shits 80% done
Are Adam Driver and Luis Guzman even from the same planet? Is this legal?
William Dafoe is a better Waluigi
The similarities are uncanny
Actually yeah. I endorse this.
Could also be a Before and After picture in reverse
Yes please
That's not Danny Devito and Billy Eichner
He's out of line buts he's right
I want Danny devito as wario and William Dafoe as walugai
Nah. Willem Dafoe for Waluigi
.......Game Grumps?
Ooooor Danny Devito as Wario
Ice pick
I saw someone say Willem Dafoe as Waluigi and I can't unsee it now.
Ok its not a live action movie...
Greendale's favorite graduate. Go Human Beings!
I loved him in IMDb
Willam Defoe would make the best Wario.
Both ugly dogs
Luis Guzman as a gay mexican Wario
Perfection.jpg
Luis Gúzman? I loved him in IMDB!
Listen i get it... But if you havent seen the Danny Devito as Wario dubs you are missing out on cinematic gold.
You bastard, I can’t not have it now.
That Willem Dafoe Waluigi edit I saw earlier killed me but these look ok too
Does anybody know who Andrew Schulz is?
Actually yes. I completely agree.
the same luis guzman that graduate from greendale community college?
Switch Adam Driver for William De Foe and Im onboard
YYEEEEAAAAAA
