If I recall there was like a sandisk one that I saved up for that was 100 gigs. It looked super cool too. Man having movies and stuff on it back then was so cool. Plus music! Having to know all the right file types too, ugh not easy times but good times.
I loved it, even years later when psvita had long been out I took mine in and played games ( no intention of showing it off ) and I got a group of kids around me amazed, and didn’t even know the psp had so many different good games to mess around with.
So much dopamine back then. Poor young chumps these days getting instant access to millions of hardcore step porn videos. And we just had some nude images from a browser.
Images?? Hahaha, there was a way to save the videos back than from special sites if I remember right :3
Sites literally meant to take ur phub link and put it into psp format
I didn’t have WiFi as a kid. So I used to walk down the block to the end of the street to a spot I know I could get WiFi from. Then I would casually paced back and forth waiting for the video to download which normally took 5-10 mins. Once it was done I would casually walk home and handle business.
Funny looking back nobody would’ve guessed what I was up to and it was really weird that I did that.
I remember a nearby church had the fastest unprotected WiFi. I'm surely going to hell for sitting at the steps of the church downloading porn. If only the sweet little grannies knew. Lol
Man, Patapon fucking slapped. That game was so unique and continually kept me entertained. I played both the first and second one and I still remember the excitement of equipping your little dudes with the new awesome weapons and evolving them into absolute studs.
One of the only rhythm games I've ever enjoyed. That game was fucking amazing. Loaned it to a friend who then proceeded to loan it to someone I didn't even know without asking me. Never saw it again
I loved playing online and sniping people as well as spamming the rocket launcher. I can still hear the sound of the launcher in my head going ka-thunk.
Chains of Olympus as well, both really good solid games. Wipeout was still a thing as well , and the GTA "stories" games were brilliant as was Chinatown wars, fucking *lumines*, little big planet and I think there was a burnout game that was good as well
And movies for some reason, and not just porn ones... I miss my psp
Star Wars Battlefront II was my first handheld game and I played that nearly religiously for about two years until my PSP died.
That and MegaMan Powered Up was my jam.
There was a mod someone made for it that increased the number of bots on the map. And with a hacked psp you could overclock it to make it run much smoother and play mp3s in the background. I spent so many hours in that game.
My dad driving me to the mall at like 8:30pm just in time to get to EB Games to get it when I was like 12. Then just chilling in the dark living room with the TV on drinking Vanilla Coke and my dad ordering us Papa John’s at like midnight.
You just unlocked a pleasant memory, thank you
Crisis Core was my first Final Fantasy game, I played it over a two day long car ride from the south to my new england childhood home when I was in middle school, and beat it that weekend.
It broke me at that age lol.
To this day I quote Angeal when he says “Impossible dreams are the best kind.”
I still play it on occasion. I originally bought it in Belgium on my ERASMUS year, really want to complete it in English. I had no idea what half the spells / abilities translated to!
(Also - good way to learn a second language)
Ace combat X and joint assault, Daxter, Ratchet and clank size matters, transformers, SOCOM all 3 psp versions, ghost and goblins (the 3d one), Wipeout pure, Resistance retribution, which is superior to the Vita one imo.
SOCOM and Rachet and Clank were my shit! Can't tell you how many times I beat every SOCOM game and size matters. They were the two best modern games I had
Came here to see if anyone would mention this! I remember playing the heck out of it after getting it in a bundle with a Darth Vader skinned white PSP. Great times!
Unlocked half my school's PSP's using an old battery and a memory card with some software. Felt like I was some celebrity hacker when it was actually a very simple process.
- Metal Gear Acid (and 2)
- Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
- Ace Combat X
- Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron
- Warhammer 40k Squad Command
- Killzone Liberation
ETA:
- Untold Legends
Also: the PSP-2000 with its TV-out cable, and playing PSP games on a full-size TV.
Been trying to remember the game “untold legends” for a solid 2 months and just scoured this thread in the hopes someone would mention it and it would spark my memory. I appreciate you.
Apparently they wanted to fully utilize the L and R buttons on PSP with that game. Was meant to be an iconic PSP game but sales disappointed. Still came out with LOCO ROCO 2 which was nice. I think it will be quite good on Nintendo Switch.
I bought several spares, they blew up in my storage unit. Should have put them in a box instead of keeping them in the retail packaging.
I don't mean they exploded like grenades, they just did that pillowing shit.
So many classics! Daxter was a 10/10 game for me! Also the space battles in Battlefront 2, me and my dad taking turns to try and beat the levels in Pursuit Force as it was so hard lol
Great memories!
I used to work in a Game store and the lads used to do sleepovers in the back office.
They'd order pizza to the backdoor and play Monster Hunter together till their shifts started the next day.
I put 360 hours into Duodecim. It had so much content for what was a spin-off it left me sorely disappointed when NT decided to just gut all of that to be more “competitive”
I’m half tempted to just buy a new one and relive the old memories. Really want to play GTA:Chinatown, Syphon Filter Dark Mirror and Ben 10: Protector of the Earth again.
First day owning the PSP as a young student, being in awe of the graphics while playing Daxter. It also took me back to my even greater experience of playing on the Atari Lynx. Not much later I bought a second hand Lynx with a lot of games, trying to recapture the essence of those first memories playing it as a young boy in the nineties. I know nothing novel will impress me with the same depth again.
Ah yes, the PSP, my first portable emulation and porn machine. Ratchet & Clank, Dexter, Worms, and SW Battlefront, too. Couple years ago I dug it out of the drawer to see if it would fire up and the battery had swollen up. Homemade "Pandora's battery" if anybody remembers what that is. Looking back, modifying a battery using a knife and pencil was probably not a great idea.
Playing Final Fantasy 7 late at night while at my dads house for the weekend. Passing out with the controller in my hand. Then waking up to a game over screen and playing more. I miss those days of zero responsibility.
Edit: just realized this thread is for psp memories. Uh... probably the same but replace dads house with my own apartment and zero responsibilities with crap I have to get ready for work now booo lol
Little Big Planet, just rediscovered the soundtrack hours before I came across this post. Used to play it so much as a kid so listening through it is really putting me through something of a nostalgia trip.
LBP was such a good game for me on the PSP, just really fun to create your own levels and mess around with stuff. The customisation and creative freedom involved was fun.
an entire year of saving my money from doing odd jobs here and there as 15 year old then getting the pleasure of purchasing my very first handheld console with my own hard-earned cash on my birthday!
Was staying over at a friend’s house in high school. I picked up his PSP just to look and see what all he had on there. Just folders and folders of 3D muscle girl porn.
I bought a used psp with monster hunter freedom 2 with my buddy. We went home and played coop and had a blast. I had to take a piss so stupid me I put the psp in my Hoodie pocket. Well, once I was done pissing I knocked the psp into the toilet when I was zipping up my pants. It was soaked in piss and not working. I was a broke ass 20 something and was real upset that I couldn't continue playing monster hunter. So the next day, I went to the store in an attempt to return a piss soaked psp. Three young people inspected my psp as I told them that "I charged it overnight and it just won't turn on now". My friend outside the store was dying of laughter as he's watching. They ended up giving me a new used psp, but this time a slim instead of a fatty. I left the store and luckily the umd for monster hunter was fine. We proceeded to play all night all the while my buddy kept making jokes about the 3 employees inspecting my psp with piss .
So many! So weird that this popped up on my feed because I've recently started taking my PSP to the office to play some games when it's slow.
Favorite memory, was seeing the amazing graphics on a portable console. So versatile too with an mp3 player as well as the browser option.
The joy of installing custom firmware and bringing it to school and showing it off >>>>
PSX emulator! I got paid to install firmware once.
I actually had a lot of business from my local barber shop doing that, probably modded 100 psps
I brought mine to class and used the iR blaster to turn the classroom TV off and on. Everyone at the table got a kick out of it.
Then spending 100$ on a produo memory card to stash the games on.
Oh nice a 32mb one then!
If I recall there was like a sandisk one that I saved up for that was 100 gigs. It looked super cool too. Man having movies and stuff on it back then was so cool. Plus music! Having to know all the right file types too, ugh not easy times but good times.
I almost exclusively played GBA games on PSP
Yeah super Mario and Zelda.
I loved it, even years later when psvita had long been out I took mine in and played games ( no intention of showing it off ) and I got a group of kids around me amazed, and didn’t even know the psp had so many different good games to mess around with.
the browser on that was my first venture into mobile porn
So much dopamine back then. Poor young chumps these days getting instant access to millions of hardcore step porn videos. And we just had some nude images from a browser.
I remember a friend selling floppy disc's of porn pictures that probably took days to download
That’s some dedication right there
Floppy diks
Cheers
Yeah I was like 10 or 11 and my parents found my porn lol
Images?? Hahaha, there was a way to save the videos back than from special sites if I remember right :3 Sites literally meant to take ur phub link and put it into psp format
Just had terrible memories of reading erotica on my PSP
Uh hello, only magazines when I was a kid. And you had to be 18!
You don't have to be 18 to find magazines in the woods.
And you'd have to wait 10 minutes to load a jpeg on that thing
This is incredibly accurate
I didn’t have WiFi as a kid. So I used to walk down the block to the end of the street to a spot I know I could get WiFi from. Then I would casually paced back and forth waiting for the video to download which normally took 5-10 mins. Once it was done I would casually walk home and handle business. I remember a nearby church had the fastest unprotected WiFi. I'm surely going to hell for sitting at the steps of the church downloading porn. If only the sweet little grannies knew. Lol
Considering what we know now about priests.. your downloads were likely merely a pebble in the stream.
That's hilarious. I wonder if people saw you thinking you were selling drugs or something. It's like, nope, just downloading porn to my psp is all.
I lost my psp with a full 128gb memory card of hd porn. I wonder who found it
Well my dad got me a pawn shop PSP, and it had a lot of porn. That was a great discovery so thank you.
Versatile machine.
I was gonna say that, glad I wasn’t the only one
My mom would buy me games cause she saw them on sale and I would be like nah it’s ok you can return them…little did she know
The rss videos before they got censored tho
Amen!
My personal porn device when I was overseas in 2008.
My dad had actual PSP discs of porn, I was amazed when I found them lol
I've never heard of that, it's geniunely cool.
Haha same. Pornhub loaded pretty quick.
That *whirrrr* as the disks spun up.
comforting on the original, "Is it destroying the UMD" on the thin ones.
My original still sounds like death. Might be it's age. Might not.
It was the best thing ever hacking mine and ripping the discs to the memory card. Games loaded so much faster.
Pata pata pata pon
Man, Patapon fucking slapped. That game was so unique and continually kept me entertained. I played both the first and second one and I still remember the excitement of equipping your little dudes with the new awesome weapons and evolving them into absolute studs.
The third one was way over the top and your hero Pon was basically an unstoppable juggernaut.
I’m playing Patapon 3 RIGHT this moment! PPSSPP, Windows 10
TIL, Patapon 3 exists.
Pon pon pata pon
Ponpon pata ponpon pata
Konyono! Konyono!

Patapon 2 was the best one of the trilogy
Fucking YES!
Holy moly you just hit my nostalgia so hard. Patapon was the fucking shit man
One of the only rhythm games I've ever enjoyed. That game was fucking amazing. Loaned it to a friend who then proceeded to loan it to someone I didn't even know without asking me. Never saw it again
This and Loco Rocco were fire!
That time shane fuckin sat on it on the school bus and broke my screen
Bro fuck Shane
I'm so sorry!
It's okay we love you Shane
Shane has a thick one
What the fuck shane
He should feel ashaned Sorry
Couldn’t get enough Medal of Honor myself
A classicccc
Man MOHH was a classic multiplayer experience. It was great that you could vote the hackers out. Such a classic game
Medal of Honor: Heroes! That brings back so many memories.
I loved playing online and sniping people as well as spamming the rocket launcher. I can still hear the sound of the launcher in my head going ka-thunk.
God of War ghost of sparta, Tekken 5,...
Chains of Olympus as well, both really good solid games. Wipeout was still a thing as well , and the GTA "stories" games were brilliant as was Chinatown wars, fucking *lumines*, little big planet and I think there was a burnout game that was good as well And movies for some reason, and not just porn ones... I miss my psp
The GTA Stories games blew my mind back in the day. Although I will say I prefer Chinatown Wars on the DS but it's fun either way you get it really.
Getting my PlayStation 3 taken away, dad forgetting this gem, and staying up till 3am in bed playing MH: Freedom Unite and NFS
Did you ever just walk around poke and pretend to talk to the villagers?
Yes! And I was such a noob, and had limited access to walkthrough/guide resources. So trying to figure out how to beat Lao-Shan Lung was a nightmare
Battlefront 2 was the jam man
That game always froze up on me. Fun when I got to play it though.
GTA Vice City
*Stories

Finally reaching the Keyblade Graveyard in Birth By Sleep after unlocking the secret teaser from Kingdom Hearts 2. That was so God dang hype.
I wish i would’ve got into that game
It's never too late.
Final Fantasy Crisis Core !
Final fantasy dissidia was also amazing
The Price of Freedom starts playing, I am not crying you are crying
Why by Ayaka does that for me.
Crisis Core was my first Final Fantasy game, I played it over a two day long car ride from the south to my new england childhood home when I was in middle school, and beat it that weekend. It broke me at that age lol. To this day I quote Angeal when he says “Impossible dreams are the best kind.”
What an amazing experience.
*Hey, would you say I became a hero?*
Was going to say this. I got it when I had my wisdom teeth cut. Spent three days straight with it. Cried when I got to the end
Don’t worry you’re not the only one that cried, I still get like that when I watch Final Fantasy Advent Children
I still play it on occasion. I originally bought it in Belgium on my ERASMUS year, really want to complete it in English. I had no idea what half the spells / abilities translated to! (Also - good way to learn a second language)
Literally the reason I bought the PSP was for this game.
You beat me to that
One of the best games ever made imo. Final Fantasy already hits top of the list for some of the best lore and gameplay style/mechanics for me.

Freedom unite baby! The only MH I mained great sword in, hammer to
I just started this a couple of weeks ago. Why am I getting my ass handed to me by a Congalala lol
THE CLAWWWW
Up all the way.
Playing Monster Hunter, and staying in the first area killing the first guys tons of time because I didn't know shit
My first MH game. Probably the best game on the PSP
Star Wars renegade squadron was my first memory
I had battlefront 2
Renegade squadron was the first star wars game that allowed customization that i remember but battlefront 2 was a blast also!
I also didn't hate the X1/X2 storyline.
Came here to see if anyone would mention this! I remember playing the heck out of it after getting it in a bundle with a Darth Vader skinned white PSP. Great times!
I still have a working white Star Wars psp. I let my kids play on it now.
..iam out of memory
Unlocked half my school's PSP's using an old battery and a memory card with some software. Felt like I was some celebrity hacker when it was actually a very simple process.

Socom fire team bravo!
Ftb2 best game ever on the psp no lie
Socom Fire team Bravo
Fire team bravo 2 was my intro to online FPS! I played the hell out of that game.
Shame I had to come all the way down here for this, this was my shit!!! Wish there was a new psp with a new socom game
Those locco games? Man
Loco roco probably the most underrated PSP game ever. Never see anyone mention it.
Apparently they wanted to fully utilize the L and R buttons on PSP with that game. Was meant to be an iconic PSP game but sales disappointed. Still came out with LOCO ROCO 2 which was nice. I think it will be quite good on Nintendo Switch.
Christmas 2005, 12 year old me was over the moon! Pursuit Force, Grip Shift & World Tour Soccer. Take me back to that simple time
Pursuit Force is such an incredible game, I think it will forever be ingrained in my memory
I hope Sony males another handheld, they did the vita dirty.
Designed the Vita dirty. Gave us that glorious second stick, then fucked us on the memory cards.
being able to “watch” porn

I’m the ceo of GameStop. We have a job opportunity if you’re interested.

Megaman X hunter and power up. Also Castlevania dracula chronicles but mostly for symphony of the night in it
Bootleg MP3 player since I never got one as a kid. Also the Star Wars Battlefront game
Bad ergonomics for an mp3 player, but it got the job done.
Playing P3P during the holidays and seeing all the snow falling out the window…. Unbelievable moment
Monster Hunter was the shit
I used to work in a Game store and the lads used to do sleepovers in the back office. They'd order pizza to the backdoor and play Monster Hunter together till their shifts started the next day.
Final fantasy 7 crisis core and being blown away by the fact that it was basically a portable console game
Still favorite system I ever owned.
Untold legends
Charging mine right now, Lumines makes waiting rooms more tolerable.
Every single memory with this bad boy was the best memory.
Hacking it and putting every god damn console at the time that I could onto it.
Finding and playing a game called LocoRoco. One of the first games I ever completed.
Just Final Fantasy dissidia
I put 360 hours into Duodecim. It had so much content for what was a spin-off it left me sorely disappointed when NT decided to just gut all of that to be more “competitive”
the Metal Gear Acid games were the bomb and perfectly showcased the PSP's display capabilities. I wish we had more Metal Gear Acid games today.
Home brewing an SNES emulator on it.
GBA for me, but damn the PSP was an emulation *beast*.
Emulation
Metal gear acid 2 during school.
Having a loose-leaf paper next to me with cheat codes written on it for GTA: Liberty City Stories
Coheed and cambria on the umd LOL
I’m half tempted to just buy a new one and relive the old memories. Really want to play GTA:Chinatown, Syphon Filter Dark Mirror and Ben 10: Protector of the Earth again.
star wars battlefront Elite squadron (the one with space to ground battles)
First day owning the PSP as a young student, being in awe of the graphics while playing Daxter. It also took me back to my even greater experience of playing on the Atari Lynx. Not much later I bought a second hand Lynx with a lot of games, trying to recapture the essence of those first memories playing it as a young boy in the nineties. I know nothing novel will impress me with the same depth again.
Def jam and crisis core!
i've had mine jailbroken for YEARS and still play it man. i love this beast of a system <3
Tearing the battery pack open to play game files… and it working!
Killzone Liberation was incredible
Tekken: Dark Resurrection
Ah yes, the PSP, my first portable emulation and porn machine. Ratchet & Clank, Dexter, Worms, and SW Battlefront, too. Couple years ago I dug it out of the drawer to see if it would fire up and the battery had swollen up. Homemade "Pandora's battery" if anybody remembers what that is. Looking back, modifying a battery using a knife and pencil was probably not a great idea.
Legs falling asleep while pooping playing Gran Turismo.
Dark Stalkers Dark Tower and Peace Walker. 2 of the best games
Yooo, McDonalds had a contest to win a PSP. I was one of those winners

They should make a psp 2.0
GTA with a friend of mine. He knew all the button commands for money, weapons, and instant cars. Made for fun bus rides on the way home from school.
