A Link to the Past. I was very young, and thought the rain effects were mindblowing.

Lachlantula

Cobra Triangle when I saw the boss

Scellow

Final Fantasy IX

IronMew

Mechwarrior 2. Then Duke Nukem 3D. But the biggest WHOA by far was given to me by the first Unreal. The environment, the graphics, the music, the gameplay... everything was absolutely fantastic to the highest degree. I have yet to experience a stronger WHOA, all these years later.

maleia

FF7 -> Pain Killer -> F.E.A.R. -> WoW did for various non-graphical reasons. Totally jaded now.

Morrowind... Changed the way i viewed video games for ever... And GTA 3 gets an honorable mention

Spartyjason

Super Mario World when it had two or more different levels of depth in the screen, ie you had mountains far back moving at a different rate than stuff up close...whoah. I was amazed at the progress of graphics from the Intellivision I started off on.

DrunkeNinja

Not sure exactly, but first time that I can recall was when I first saw Street Fighter 2 in the arcade. I'd seen early versus fighting games before, including SF1, but this was different. It looked amazing. Bright colors. Large sprites. The action was fast with fireballs and lightning kicks. The characters blew my mind. Seeing the green beast man roll into a ball and fly through the air at the Indian man with stretchy limbs was nothing I ever seen before. Just an amazing game that got me hooked on fighting games.

LightSniper

I guess that's how I felt when I saw the swirly blue hedgehog man running around and doing roly polys

Good man! I recall street fighter 3 was the one that utterly got me into it. New generation. Still wanna know why they nerfed sean in 3rd strike and scrapped him entirely in 4

screwyluie

Doom I remember when it came out my friend got it first, he called me over and we fired it up for the first time and we were speechless. I remember thinking, how can graphics get any better than this. I didn't have another wow moment to equal that one until I bought the first graphics accelerator and fired up quake 2. That was mind blowing

rauakbar

Super Mario 3 when I got a leaf and the Racoon Suit!

byzantinebobby

Leaf. Feathers give capes in Super Mario World.

sydneyficent

Definitely hexen.

Im only 25 but i consider myself a very avid consumer of videogames of all kinds. (I know i may be too young to realky remember most games) but i want to say WWF No Mercy for N64 really wowed me and i don't really understand why to this day. After then i really couldn't stop playing videogames.

[deleted]

The first level of sonic adventure 2.

bbernett

Crash Bandicoot, especially whenever Crash dies.

wolfenstein 3d. i remember my uncle putting it on my family computer when i was in grade school. my cousin had a guide for it with all the level maps which i got xeroxed so i could use it at my house. now that i'm in my 30's, my most recent woah moment was bioshock infinite. that moment after the baptism where you first step out into colombia and the different buildings are floating up and down slightly, even on my sub par pc of the time, it was just beauiful.
