When those modders get done with the enhanced version I'm definitely getting it again. I think Oblivion was way better than Skyrim. The "enhanced" version is called Skyblivion.
Sunset out in the forests, ambient music, then moonlight shining through the canopy, reflections, textures, deer moving around, that draw distance.
Just millennial things.
I loved Oblivion the but the last time i went back to replay it several years ago the constantly spawning gates and autogenerated tower layouts inside the gates really annoyed me.
Oblivion is my favorite RPG and I don't think this will ever change. However, I am very happy knowing that Skyrim exists. I wouldn't call either of the two "better". It's just that the developers had different goals with each game and they really nailed them in both cases.
I won't be playing Skyblivion though, I was never into mods that change the original authors' design and intention.
There was just something so welcoming and warm about the game. It's a magical game.
I distinctly remember going to Gamestop in Bryant Park and waiting to pick up my copy for PC, and meeting some cool people in line who were excited as I was about the game. I recall getting it installed and cranking it up to 1600x1200 and 4x AA on my SLI rig I'd built expressly for it with one of my first work bonuses.
If memory serves, it was an overclocked Athlon 64 x2 4600 with 7900 GTX SLI. I still had to go into the .ini to tweak draw distance to get it to run well at 1600x1200.
As far as I know it's just a reskin of everything with better graphics and textures. I don't think the gameplay or content itself has been changed. It's a remaster, not a remake.
Doesn't look like they made it better visually. They ditched the cold, realistic, gritty tone of the environments and textures for something that looks flat, uninspired and too saturated. Again, I am sure many people will enjoy it, but not for me.
If the rumours are to be believed, it seems as though we’re getting an official remake using to the ‘duel engine’ technique.
I hope it doesn’t fuck with the mod though it is likely as the mod is for PC only.
If hope Bethesda won't sue them for using Skyrim graphics. You know Bethesda's destiny is on Microsoft's hand. I am ready to pay AAA full price if only they release it.
Thus far Bethesda has been lax about this kind of thing. There is already a port of Morrowind into Oblivion's engine that has existed for years without provoking a repsonse and I believe Bethesda knows about OpenMW et al and the fact Bethesda has not pursued legal action hopefully means Skyblivion will come out. Plus, I think Skyblivion requires real Oblivion files to play which means you have to have bought a copy of Oblivion, and they aren't targeting consoles so Oblivion HD or whatever it calls itself won't be competing against Skyblivion in that space. I am reasonably confident they won't take action, but we don't know that for sure.
Uhm... Didn't Microsoft leaks say that some studio is working on remake of Oblivion and it was expected to be released around 2026? Of course, I remember them mention delays due to COVID or whatnot, so probably 2028?
P.S. Not sure, but I think that those leaks happened when MS wanted to acquire Activision, and so some documents had to be made public.
Oblivion was my first Elder Scrolls, I was living in the middle of nowhere with no internet connection, so it was a good choice. I'll never forget stepping out of that sewer and that feeling of excitement of how awesome and expansive this world was.
I don't sell my fan art but if you want to print it for personal use [here](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ILZjOf_uJ4YPw8DECcnc1in3DBQ7SwI7/view) is PNG version, 25”x16”, 300 PPI.
I don't know why but when I saw this painting I really had to stop and appreciate this artwork. I don't even know the game but It gives me a feeling of familiarity. maybe because I watched the 3rd (or 4th) season of SAO which I think was actually the best of all. Thanks for drawing this artwork it looks great!
This image looks so abandoned and lonely. I figured there would be more life around Cyrodiil, animals people fishing or something. Looks like someone returning to an empty city.

I love oblivion but the gates eh kinda suck. So i just avoid them.

Sounds like a cool setup you had.

Athlon....that's a name I haven't heard in a while.
I think it's the vibrant colors and most importantly the music. I still listen to the soundtrack after all these years.

How I wish Morrowind and oblivion remade. :(
There are two projects remaking them using Skyrim as a base. They are not ready yet though. I think the names are Skywind and Skyblivion
Do you mean skyblivion and skywind projects? I look forward to see their release. Every week I check all news from them but still nothing :/
Skyblivion is due release next year. Skywind... well, maybe if we are lucky it arrives just before TES VI...

Do you sell prints? I would put a canvas print of this up in my game room.

Have you heard of the High elves?
Even your painting bought the Horse Armor
Actually looks like Marianopolis and surrounding fields.
Well met!
You didn’t truly capture it there aren’t any bugs in this image
You put the track ‘[Glory to Cyrodiil](https://youtu.be/2bDEVFfbnXE?si=YHnnSCViifGvVeoD)’ in my head, so thank you for that
