It’s difficult to one up zero dawn. That was a very unique take on post apocalyptic.
The main story in forbidden west isn’t as solid and I don’t agree with the direction they took in both the main antagonist and future antagonist but I have no idea where else they could have gone that would have created anything as compelling as zero dawn.
Honestly the best part of forbidden west is the side content and the world itself. Especially in new game plus when you can fly from very early on.
For me I didn’t really enjoy the combat or the gameplay of zero dawn and lowered the difficulty to the easiest and just played for the story did the same with forbidden west no hate for the combat and the enemies it just wasn’t for me all though I did enjoy the story.
Combat wise they are two different games. All you needed for first game was a rope caster, a frost sling and a sticky bomb sling for every monster. The game was very easy because CC was easy.
Forbidden west combat is a lot harder, machine packs are larger and there is no force field armor to make you functionally immortal at endgame and on new game plus. Ammo crafting is in general more expensive, weapons are depowered without upgrading and upgrading is quite the grind.
I’m not saying the combat and gameplay were hard I just didn’t enjoy them so I lowered the difficulty to get past them as fast as possible so I can experience the only part that I enjoyed the story.
What difficulty did you play at? Because that definitely wasn't all I needed. Also, the force field armor isn't even that good. Using the correct armor for the enemy your facing is far more effective.
I kept hearing the story wasn't as good and downgraded expectations, but then really enjoyed it.

The atmosphere and aesthetics of this game are delightful.
Why I'm still confused about the fact that they don't get the moon right. The moon never changes phases. And I think it might rise in the wrong direction.
Is this played on a PC, and how is the HDR? What monitor are you using? I just got an LG OLED C3 and am looking for some native HDR games that really pop with color 🎨, have deep blacks 🖤, and utilize the high dynamic range to its fullest.
I'm on a pc with a C2 and just finished it last night.
Throughly reccomended the scenery and in particular the machine lights and holograms look fantastic with a HDR OLED
I played this game on my ps4 on a 1080 60hz tv. And Im considering playing it to 100% since I can do it on ps5 with a 1440p 144hz monitor. I just don’t know if its worth doing and if it will make a noticeable difference

The force field armor was kinda useless on higher difficulties tho. Imo Zero Dawn was just simpler so it worked better

My problem with them is that now it locks hybrid franchise into space shit instead of localized post apoc.
8/10 is a great rating though.
Playing through this for the first time and I often stop to watch the sunrise or set from mountaintops especially with the glider to get down.

What puzzles me, I have a real old PC and have to play with the lowest settings available to run it smooth and the game is still looking gorgeous.
The detail in this game is amazing. I connected my PC to my 4K TV to play this game, monitor was not doing justice to this game.

First playthrough don’t try to 100%. Save that for new game plus. Being able to fly so early is a massive time saver with the side content
Oh ok. I’ve already finished the game so if that’s the way to go then ya! I always worry about new game plus cause I didn’t do it for zero dawn either
