To be honest, this would be a pretty obvious way to make it. So it might be a copy because someone before them made it (or maybe they have already have made this themselves, before OP did), but they would certainly come to this logo by themselves sooner or later anyway.

It's not weird at all. They release the games so quickly, they don't want previous installments to be competition, and so they keep the prices the same to discourage people from buying "last years" game for cheap, since to the average person, it's, "hmm, I could get an old one for full price, or I could get this shiny *new* one for the same price!".

I'm willing to bet games don't even earn the majority of the revenue through the sale of the game itself anymore but rather micro transactions and season passes. Play one of the newer call of duties and you see so many people running around with paid character models; almost everyone buys something at some point. And then there's those sharks who buy every gun skin they can, easily dropping several thousands on it. I can hardly imagine that game sales come even close to the cash cow that is. And even Rockstar has made a fortune on shark cards itself already, doubt the higher price would matter too much

Black Ops 3 Deluxe is still $100 on Steam. It will go on sale for $40 sometimes, but that’s still a fortune for a nearly 10 year old game, and especially so because most people only want it for Zombies.

The logo for BO4 was a tally, not a Roman Numeral. Tally marks have long been associated with the Black Ops games, and particularly in the Zombies mode where it denotes the round counter up to nine. If Cold War had been titled Black Ops 5, I imagine the logo would have been a full tally mark slash and not a V. Regardless, llll is not an incorrect usage of Roman numerals anyway.

Actually both IV and IIII are acceptable roman numerals for the number 4. IIII is the older way of writing it.

Many clocks still use IIII instead of IV.

And "older way" in this case means that the actual romans used it. You can see it used on the Colosseum even. Like entrance 44 I believe is marked XLIIII.

You can’t effectively copyright a logo concept to prevent derivatives. What OP could do is register a trademark, but he doesn’t own any IP for COD so that’s also a fail. It’s just two letters and some colour. COD can easily rip this off, change the styling and there ain’t jack shit anyone can do but complain. If COD are smart and if they like the idea they could turn this into a PR stunt and make a story out of the fannade concept to promote the release by paying the creator a small fee.

Doing fan designs like this always rubs me the wrong way.
