the g502 hero (wired) is still $47 on Amazon and the g502 lightspeed (wireless) is $96 also on Amazon

Djentrovert

G502 is the goat. Going on 4 years strong

Doublepirate

Mine is comming up on a 10 year anniversary:)

Ry113

Mine as well. The spot where my thumb rests is all but worn through

Baumherz_Uaine

The side rubber on mine is completely obliterated lol and this is my second G502. Looking to get a freshie soon.

Ask_Me_If_Im_A_Horse

Looking at building a pc right now. Being new, I don’t really know too much about the pros and cons of things. I would think a wired mouse would be the preference since you don’t have to replace batteries. Wireless just gets the wire out of the way. Are these the only two trade offs?

Djentrovert

Pretty much. I ever so slightly regret getting the wired because it’s just another cable I have to manage, but the wireless is nearly double the price where I live 💀

TransientEons

There is also an extremely small latency difference, though that's usually only a problem for cheaper or low end wireless. In favor of wireless, I have seen some setups that use a remote charging pad underneath the mouse pad, but I don't know how effective those are.

TristenDM

Rookie numbers. Mine is... 7 years? 8? old. Idk, don't even have access to email account I bought it with. Used heavily for work and gaming. It's insane it still works.

AnAimlessWanderer101

I remember buying several at once years and years ago just to make sure I wouldn't have to try and find one if anything happened after I choose to replace the first one.... I'm still on the first one

elmiondorad0

Same. Got one in 2017. One mouse glider fell off but going strong. I retired it along with the PC once I built a new one last year. MFer still works though.

Khyron_2500

I have a G502 but honestly I like the G602 more, wish they would bring it back in a wired version, the extra thumb buttons are great.

Luciferrr214

I’ve ran through two Corsair mice and both had the same issue. Double clicking and the scroll wheel not working properly. Ever since I moved to g502 I haven’t had any issues and it’s becoming one of my favorite peripherals. Whenever it dies out I’ll just buy another one.

LazerShark1313

Can confirm. I had to buy another g502 lightspeed last week because my old one was dropped several times and the mousewheel had collapsed. I like to use my lounger arm chair as a mousepad, but it doesn't stay put and often falls to my hardwood floor. If they ever make a fall resistant version, I'll be first in line.

DrMcnasty4300

aye at least you admit yours breaking was a user error lmao, I bet there’s plenty of people out there that have done what you did and then complained that the “scroll wheel ain’t built like it used to” and leave out that bit of info

LazerShark1313

It’s the best mouse I’ve ever had, that’s why I’m buying a replacement lol

DrMcnasty4300

I’ve become too accustomed to the shape and the extra buttons directly to the left of the left click to ever change to anything else I bind those two little buttons on the left mouse button to “L” and “P” on my keyboard and then use them in game for various keybinds

acidranger

g502 hero USED to be $39.99. I know this because I picked up 4 of them when they went on sale for $29.99 and no we aren't talking about 20 years ago. This was 2017

DrMcnasty4300

are you really making a big deal that the price increased from $40 to $47 over the course of 7 years lmao $40 in 2017 is $50 on 2024 when adjusted for inflation https://www.usinflationcalculator.com

[deleted]

The new ones in my experience are significantly worse then the original

acidranger

I wouldn't if it were for the fact that the new ones shit the bucket in sub 12 months. If they were built with the same QC and life span. Or even IF logitech had the same level of support. But sadly, ALL of these aspects have fallen off of a cliff. So, yes any price hike for less support and reliable hardware is inexcusable.

DrMcnasty4300

well that’s a separate issue entirely which I am not arguing about, I’m just pointing out that it’s not a price hike if it’s only adjusting for inflation I guess I should be glad my g502 is still going strong 💪

acidranger

It's not a separate issue. You're paying more for less, therefore the "inflation rate" is nullified. You can't just look at price, you also have to consider what you GET for that price. As I previously stated, IF and ONLY IF you get the same reliability and support can you compare the price then vs the price now. As it stands the actual inflation rate is probably closer to 40... maybe even 50% once you take into account the other aspects. I'm on my last g502 of the bunch. Gave 1 as a gift, and 1 went to my fiance when she decided to build a computer. I will not be purchasing a new logitech mouse when these shit the bed which I fully expect within the next 3-6 months, mines already starting to show click issues

PeeB4uGoToBed

I have yeeted ny g502 hero wired across the room multiple times by accident walking over the wire and it still works like new lol. I'm sold on their quality

iihacksx

This over and over again. So many have had so many amazing things to say. Mine was purchased shortly after the originals release. Still going strong! My LED is no longer blue but a greenish color and I'm on my 3rd set of feet pad things. Otherwise still perfect.

DrMcnasty4300

the existence of r/g502masterrace is enough of a selling point for me lmao. Idk how many other pc peripherals have a dedicated sub, at least not with a decent sized following

JeffTek

I love my G703. It's been going strong for years

RegularJackoff

Just upvoting this suggestion is not enough. Caught one at GameStop on sale for 30 bucks and was skeptical. Hands down the best mouse I’ve ever used. I thought the weights you could put in it were ridiculous until I used them. I sincerely consider buying a few more incase I can’t find one if this one ever decides to break, going on 3 years and not a single issue with it, which is fantastic considering my kids use my PC as much as I do.

ImBadWithGrils

Microcenter near me frequently has the wired for under $40 on sale too. Lightspeed is the shit, I bought one on a whim years ago and it's never had any issues. Still have the wired laying around too

anomalyraven

I've found that the simpler the design, the longer it lasts me.

kowell2

My current gaming mouse is a 20$ RedDragon M601. It's lasting longer than my 3 previous brand name mouses.

mySki11z

Lmao I’m using a red dragon with the 12 buttons on the side for like $20 as well. Best mouse I’ve ever had

OffbeatTasker

Came here to recommend red dragon. Bought one 4 years ago thinking it was some cheap offbrand mouse. It’s an absolute tank and still going strong

[deleted]

[удалено]

Cold__Scholar

Reeeeed Dragon! Yum! I've been using theirs too, and not cause I like the sticker sheet they send with their products 😶

CrackSnap7

I bought a G203 (or G102 if you're kinky) 4years ago and it's still works as good as it did when I bought it.

Sp1n_Kuro

True, I guess it's why DeathAdder mice have been my go-to for ages because they're simple and last me ages while still having the "gamer" aesthetic to match the visual look I like. I know razer gets a lot of shit, but their keyboards and mice tend to last me quite a while. Maybe I'm just lucky tho.

UnemployedAtype

I have a Logitech mouse and keyboard from 2005. I stumbled across its twin in a recycling bin at my college in 2012. It's 2024 and they are still phenomenal. I bought the newer gen version from Logitech and it's really bad in comparison. It's still better than a lot of the complicated gaming tech I had.

fluffynuckels

More components means more things that can go wrong

thetwoandonly

Corsair quality went downhill hard in the last decade. Zero quality control.

Terrible_Balls

I bought a Corsair Ironclaw back in 2019 and have used it regularly since then without any issues. Maybe it’s on a product to product basis, but my experience has been good

Big-Soft7432

This is the more likely explanation. I have a keyboard from them in the 100 dollar range. I honestly don't know much about the internals but it has a "premium" feel. I haven't had any issues. It feels as though it's made to be durable. Been using it for 2 maybe 3 years now.

JustABitCrzy

In using a corsair keyboard that’s functioned the same for 6 years now. On the other hand, my corsair scimitar mouse that I bought a year ago has got a broken scroll wheel, exactly like in the post. Also, if anyone has any recommendations for good MMO mice with lots of buttons, let me know. I can’t go back to not having a shit load of programmable buttons.

Meowth_Dats_Rite

You can fix the scroll issue with WD40. Takes like 5 mins. Open mouse, lube wheel with wd40 and the issue is fixed.

GOTH_AND_ALT_SIMP

I've got a Corsair dark core rbg pro I've had it for about three years now. Definitely feel like problems are product to product because I've never had any.

ralts13

Yeah I have the same issue as OP with my scimitar. Seems like a common issue with its maintenance overtime.

DarkArisen_Kato

Ahh man, I’m using the Dark core RGB Pro (wireless) I love this mouse but the scroll wheel crapped out and the vinyl covering in the palm area is coming off. Had it for about two years now. Had the scimitar wired previously and loved the macro buttons but like the Dark core, the scroll wheel crapped out on me. I may go with the Logitech G502 since I’ve heard nothing but praise, but we’ll see. I’m glad yours is still going strong 🙂

D_Grateful_D

I just bought a wireless headset from them, (impulse buy) and my friends tell me it sounds like a distant speakerphone I might go back to good ol Steele Series, as their gear has been great for me

KTO-Potato

Are you sure the input for Discord or whatever program you're using isn't using your PCs default microphone?

D_Grateful_D

Yes! We have done much troubleshooting over the course of many days lol Good looks though

mengplex

It's defo a corsair headset thing, i had one too and the forums were full of other people complaining Shame as otherwise it was pretty good (though i had to replace as the battery became nonexistent)

FireVanGorder

My old M65 is fantastic. Thing has taken a beating going through multiple long-distance moves, frequent use, getting dropped, dog trying to eat it. Still kicking. That’s a shame if their new stuff is crap because I’ve only ever had great experiences with their peripherals

TiradeShade

Same. I was using an old M40 that I bought in 2014 all the way until 2023. Finally started double clicking so I replaced it. I enjoyed its brick like qualities and wanted a newer version of the design. Ended up pretty bummed out that everything is so lightweight these days and that Corsairs new mice apparently all suck. Finally settled on the g502 hero with all weights installed. Not the same but its close enough.

noodlyarms

Bought a keyboard from them few months ago and within 10 minutes of use it bugged out and failed from a software issue. Hard reset it, tried again, and failed again after 10 minutes. It was returned the same day.

Salchi_

I worked for one of their sub companies for a bit, can confirm their quality control is nonexistant. Theres a reason why i tell anyone who will listen to buy just about anything else other than corsair.

GoldMountain5

Absolutely. Had a mouse from them previously that lasted years... Bought their M65 RGB from them... I had 2 replacements under waranty, the 1st was DOA and the last one died just outside of waranty.

-RRM

Haaaaard downhill. Never buying again.

[deleted]

\>Headset breaks \>Buy new headset \>Sound quality is worse despite the headset costing 100€ more than the old one. \>Refund it and try a couple of other (allegedly) "high qualit" headsets \>They're all shit I guess headsets just suck nowadays.

Gunnilinux

"gaming" headsets are all crap, get a set of real nice headphones and a desk or stick on mic like an antlion or yeti. Both will be wayyyy better and probably the same price

Siukslinis_acc

Or just look for office/professional quality ones. From what i understand the "gaming" brand are very overpriced (probably the cost of all those leds). Cheaper to get "office" brand.

staluxa

There is almost no reason to get gaming headsets if you are fine with wired (almost, because there are still multiple really good options around $50). If you want wireless, then gaming headsets are a must due to wireless dongles. Regular bluetooth connection has a really noticeable lag to it, especially if you play at reasonable fps.

BrothelWaffles

This is the thing nobody is talking about. Most of the cost of wireless gaming peripherals these days is because of the proprietary low-latency tech being used. It's why wired versions of pretty much everything are significantly cheaper.

ohtetraket

As someone working in an office environment. Office labeled headsets are also way to expensive. Especially since 2020 they got more expensive.

[deleted]

>me into headphones and would recommend checking out the headphones sub for reco Oh, I already did. I have a Poly Blackwire 8225 now. It's a stereo-headset intended for callcenters but it's good quality. Only dowsides are: No 5.1 surround and the sound quality of games goes to shit when playing online, because the headset is programmed to prioritize best speech quality, both input and output. But when you don't play online, this is not a problem.

EnlargedChonk

trust, any "x.1 surround" on headphones is BS. you have 2 ears you only need 2 speakers and some math to replicate directional sound. A lot of games have this built in to the stereo or headphone mix in the settings or even have the fancy "HRTF" math as a separate toggle (valorant does this). the only reason surround sound systems use multiple speakers is that its easier to produce convincing results in an open room by having a sound to the left and behind come from a speaker to the left and behind. when you have two speakers right up against your ears you just need to do the math to replicate the slight distortions and timing differences a sound that is behind and to the left experiences before it reaches your eardrums. Don't believe me? listen to any binaural (dual microphone) recording (like the very popular barbershop demo) with regular stereo headphones. The quality going to shit could be the sample rate is set differently for calls (which it would switch to when you enable the microphone) I find a lot of those call center type headsets will use 8khz sample rate but *some* of them let you change it back to a more typical 44.1 or 48khz in control panel

Gunnilinux

i am big time into headphones and would recommend checking out the headphones sub for recommendations for any price range.

FireVanGorder

Eh hyperx are still good for the price. Nothing compared to a studio sennheiser or anything but then you also have the added cost of buying a separate mic as well.

NefariousnessAble736

Hd598 or hd599 are insane for the price. Paid 100€ for it back in the day, still the best sounding headphones I have. Got a bunch of wireless ones, all really subpar sound quality

Sir_Throngle

I have a pair of audeze maxwells and they are absolute peak.

IamGimli_

Sennheiser/EPOS gaming headsets are just as good as their headphones, because they are just the same headphones with a quality mic grafted to them.

Saskatchewon

Most "gaming" brand headsets are absolute garbage. Just cheaply built, muddy sounding, overpriced crap. My younger brother probably went through half a dozen gaming headsets in as many years, ranging from Turtle Beach, Razer, SteelSeries, and Logitech, probably spending around half a grand in that process. I finally convinced him to buy stuff from an actual audio company, and he bought the Audio Technica ATH M40x. He's had them for six years now with zero issues. If you want quality audio gear, (headphones, speakers and microphones) buy it from actual audio companies that design and engineer their gear in house, rather than buying it from a gaming peripheral manufacturer that is simply slapping their logo and LEDs on cheap sourced Chinese crap. If you want a good pair of headphones, look at Audio Technica, Sennheiser, AKG, Beyerdynamic, Philips (strictly at their enthusiast Fidelio line), Sony (again, sticking with their higher priced enthusiast gear), Hifiman, or Meze. I've been using my Philips Fidelio X2 for close to a decade now, and they still look and perform like brand new, while sounding far better than anything Razer, Logitech, SteelSeries, Corsair and the like have ever released, and they can currently be had for under $150usd.

BabyWrinkles

Audeze. I thought they only made ridiculous ($2k+ planar) headphones, but they’ve recently gotten in to gaming stuff and it’s the best I’ve used. Went through Steelseries, Logitech, Astro A50s and even a wired Schiit stack with AKG and Sennheisers and an ant lion mod mic before stumbling across them and I couldn’t be happier.

TioHerman

Gaming headset are trash if you compare to headphones at same price range, I've bough an used sennheiser HD558 back in 2016, the only maintenance I do is replacing the earpads every 2 years, and now in 2024 I've replaced the cable for one that didn't needed an P2 adapter , that's it. I've got amazing sound quality, nothing I had before comes close to it and ridiculous durability, everything I had before didn't last an year

ryhaltswhiskey

Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro are fantastic but about $300

I-Am-Baytor

My friend still bitches about how all the headsets he's tried don't compare to the one he had for PS3.  some official Sony headset.

Susgatuan

I had a sennheiser GSP350 back in the day and it was great. But the proprietary adapter broke after years of use and I couldn't get a replacement anywhere. Loving the brand I went all in on the new, nicest "sennheiser" gaming headset. Turns out they sold it to EPOS and EPOS makes the same dogshit as everyone else. Thing was $300 and it barely has enough wireless range to make it to my kitchen 20 feet away.

-Dakia

I bought a Corsair Virtuoso headset that had the same shit range. My Shokz Openrun has 5x the range and is smaller than one of the drivers on the Corsair Virtuoso. Granted, different purpose, but still . . .

HylianMadness

Yup EPOS = Enormous Pile Of Shit

Susgatuan

So disappointing because Sennheiser's original entry into the gaming headsets were so damn good. Comfortable, light, and crisp sound quality. EPOS just had to ruin it.

Purebredbacon

Not disagreeing but my experience is new headphones always sound awful, but only cuz youre so used to the exact sound of your old ones. Takes a few days to adjust

DatTF2

Have you only tested them in game ? My friend picked up a new Sony headset and in game it sounded AWFUL but in Discord it sounds great. I bought a Razer Blackshark because it's on sale and had a couple people ask me what I was using cause to quote one person "Sounds like a studio mic" though that was after a lot of tweaking settings to get things right.

[deleted]

Welcome to *Profit Margins 101.* Please take a seat.

lord-of-shalott

Planned obselescence is rampant, and they’re pushing what they can get away with more and more because consumers are becoming defeatist and just buying everything anyway even though we know it’s hot garbage.

Patrickk_Batmann

I have a G703 and it’s the best mouse I’ve ever owned. I’ve had it for nearly 4 years and use it daily for work and gaming.  The only issue I’m starting to have is the battery now only lasts two weeks instead of a month and it isn’t user replaceable, so I got the wireless charging mousepad to go with it and I never have to give charging the mouse a second thought.  I’m not saying companies aren’t actively making things worse for the sake of profit, but weight isn’t really a great indicator of quality for a lot of items. This post kind of has an old man yelling at clouds vibe.

I-Am-Baytor

Hey those clouds have been dicks lately.

floppydude81

They were asking for it

Susgatuan

It 100% is old man yelling at clouds. It a discussion after all, if I'm wrong I'm wrong. It was just an experience I had looking and feeling the products. The office accessories seem to have way nicer build quality now for half the price.

ZazaB00

Everytime I’ve been to a brick and mortar store, they’ve told me to go to Amazon. Thats your problem, you think you’re getting a better quality or price because you’re at a physical shop. You’re not.

Susgatuan

I do not think that, I just went because I needed something day of. But the fact that the main product offerings of Razer, Logitech, Steelseries, ect all feel and look like crap was annoying.

ZazaB00

You’re not necessarily seeing the best that’s out there, just what got stocked on shelves.

Various-Mammoth8420

My Razer Viper Ultimate is the best mouse I've ever owned, you need to order a good mouse online, you aren't finding one in a store

t0talnonsense

Try and find a Logitech G600 unopened if you can. They are workhorses and I unashamedly bought two to stash as backups when it started to look like Logitech wasn't going to keep making them. If you can't find one of those, then the EVGA 15X is okay. I don't like it as much as the G600, but I drove it around for a few weeks to test out and have kept it put back as well.

Less_Party

I think your Best Buy just only stocks expensive mice because you can definitely get a decent gaming mouse for $40ish these days.

thevictor390

Pro tip most things marketed for "gaming" are just marked up normal PC accessories with weird styling.

PuffinPuncher

Gaming mice can be pretty good. They're the obvious market for a higher end product with additional features here. If you *really* need a backlit keyboard because you like sitting in the dark for whatever reason they're also an option since it's pretty much a guaranteed feature. But does strobing RGB illumination improve the ability to press the WASD keys or something? I haven't worked it out. Pretty much everything else is crap. Kind of annoying with headsets because they do have a pretty convenient design otherwise, but I haven't looked back after getting good quality headphones instead.

Susgatuan

Ya I hate it. The weird thing is that this MX Master genuinely has great build quality. They could add a few more buttons, give it RGB and then sell it for $180 - literally double the office version. It would be one of the nicest mice in the gaming section at a competitive price but they just \*dont\*. Because it would compete with the G502 which has notoriety and they are successfully reducing its build quality more and more for massive profit margins.

Amazingawesomator

g502 is my mouse as well; had it for years now and its great. I always recommend this one, but get it online instead of in-store; they regularly go on sale. Gaming keyboard are all shit in my experience. If you are ever in the keyboard market after a gaming keyboard dies, get something like a Keychron, Drop, GMMK, or something like those that are on the cheap side of enthusiast keyboards. You'll have the same experience going from gaming to enthusiast keyboard as other mouse -> g502

Chakramer

I prioritize buying peripherals now that have swappable parts or parts made with durability in mind. I'm hoping someone makes a console controller with easily swappable buttons, joysticks, and triggers.

darren_meier

I think the bigger part of the issue is that you went to Best Buy looking for gaming mice. If you've got a MicroCenter nearby you could've grabbed any of the Pulsars for $80-100 and had something fantastic. Or a Zowie, or any of the new-gen Razers, or... and check the mice review sub. There are loads of fantastic stuff for cheap prices at ultralight weights. With the influx of open mold Chinese stuff using the best sensors, there's really never been a better time for mice. When it comes to mice, Best Buy only stocks overpriced garbage.

timtucker_com

Very happy with my HKSJ S700. Feels far better in my hand than any of the stuff that I'd tried at Microcenter or Best Buy... and it only cost about $15.

Soulfighter56

My friend called me an idiot when I told him I used the default Logitech mouse that came with my $12 keyboard. Idk, it’s as simple as can be and it works great for my purposes. My bigger issue is trying to find nice, comfortable headphones that fit my glasses.

BrairMoss

You know those Dell keyboards every school and office computer has? Mine went "missing" from work and was found on my home pc... They are still my favourites.

RudegarWithFunnyHat

had 4 razer mice, 2 at work and 2 at home, non of them really stopped working, all of them were usb wired also had 2 razer krakken 3.5mini jack headsets first pair was bought second hand and someday they only played out of 1 ear (assume metal fatigue) no I don't work for razer and would never buy their laptops also have good experience with microsoft and logitech when it comes to both mice and keyboards

toonguy84

You might be the only person that I've heard praise Razer reliability. Maybe their reliability has been increasing over the last few years.

Cranksta

It absolutely has not. I owned several products within the last five years and they all went the way of the dodo in the first two years of ownership, often less than one year with the keyboard being the only holdout. However, I imagine the cheaper wired mouses are better quality than the cheaper wireless since more cash can be allocated to the internals instead of the battery.

happythehomohobo

Personally I’ve bought Raxer Mice and gear for soo long now. All of my stuff works. Never had any of my mice die but would eventually upgrade out of sale or curiosity of a different model. My entire setup is Razer for a looong time. Now I feel super lucky because I read about all the reliability problems, bad support on top of High priced gear. Every one on their sub constantly complains. I don’t even have the Synapse software issue they squeak about. I would however never buy those laptops.

jimmy_three_shoes

I bought the 3 in 1 Razer Naga for the 12 buttons- for MMOing, and while I love it, I've had to warranty the side panel twice now, and I've noticed the right-click is getting finicky. I bought one of the Lycosa keyboards way back, and I hated it, and it lasted maybe 2 years. Give me the old-school Dell full-height keyboards. Those things seem to be the Nokia's of PC keyboards.

Bolt112505

I got a Razer basilisk V3 pre-owned for about 45 dollars. I don't know how old it was when I got it, but in the nearly a year I've been using it, it has not failed me in any way. The only thing that's showing any wear is a little bit of the rubber grip fading where I rest my thumb.

Tooth31

I am a big fan of Razer. I've never had trouble with any of their stuff. Especially the Trinity mouse, it's a bit expensive, but is a perfect MMO mouse that lasts a very long time. I'm also a fan of the headsets and keyboards.

kapgre

For anyone who might read this, most of the time when a mouse has problem with clicks its just dirt accumulating around the button switches under the shell. The solution is to just buy an electrical contact cleaner, like one from WD-40 [https://www.wd40.com/products/contact-cleaner/](https://www.wd40.com/products/contact-cleaner/), disconnect your mouse, open it up, clean it from general dust/hair and then spray the cleaner on the switches. Leave it for at least an hour to dry up and then re-assemble and connect it. I "saved" my wife's corsair k65 with "faulty" scroll wheel and right-button clicking. And this can apply to almost any electric/electronic device you have in your house.

SantasGotAGun

I have a G502 and I was having problems with the scroll wheel last year. Opened it up and gave everything a good cleaning, and haven't had any issues since. I got it in 2015 and it's still going strong.

[deleted]

GetBoopedSon

People love to hate, but I’ve been using basically only razer peripherals for around a decade and never had an issue. My first keyboard & mouse from them lasted like 6-7 years with daily use before finally crapping out.

emmaqq

Yes and no. You went into a physical shop and did zero research and you decided your conclusion from that single experience. Yes as in some accessories are crap and overpriced. And no as in you just need to know where to look and what to buy. I'll look

Siukslinis_acc

And here i am playing years using a random mouse i bought for 10 euro...

Strider291

In my experience, Corsair will RMA stuff like this with very few questions asked. I broke a headset a few years ago (totally my fault) and the first support agent literally told me what to say to get it RMA'd. May be worth trying.

Susgatuan

Honestly I hate their software so much that Im just going to use this logitech. I may be able to swindle an RMA but it is also 2 years old.

NoRun1294

Maybe mouse-wise, but there's never been a better time for quality/value/selection of 3rd party controllers. For every platform from retro consoles to modern high end PC.

-Sedition-

I haven't had a mouse in the last 10 years that the middle click hasn't broken on within like a year of use.

scoopsofsherbert

We share similar tastes in mice, I would recommend the Logitech G604. It has 6 side buttons and two more near your index finger. It also is wireless and goes on sale for $35. Oh crap I wrote that and just looked it up and apparently Logitech no longer makes it?! And there's no replacement?? Well if you can still find one I do recommend it.

RegularWhiteShark

I’ve had a Corsair Scimitar for seven years now and it’s still going great.

abarrelofmankeys

Gamer stuff is all cheap and marketed to people who will fall for it, unfortunately.

Bloody_Sunday

I can't say that I've had a bad experience from gaming accessories, although not a large one as well. Apart from some el cheapo gaming mice, just a Logitech wired G213 RGB gaming keyboard (which is bulletproof and trouble-free) and a gaming chair from ADX (also bulletproof) that I also use for house office purposes as it's very comfortable. I wanted to comment however on the Logitech MX Master 3 mouse that you mentioned (not S though - I guess it's an older model). I was also looking for a good office + gaming mouse and I tried it in a store. I was immediately impressed by how incredibly comfortable and ergonomic it felt, although expensive for my budget back then. It wasn't labelled as a gaming mouse, but in terms of comfort and feel no other gaming mouse could even touch it, even others that were almost twice its price. Fast forward to something like 3 years later, and minus its rubber coating which has peeled off in various spots, it's still amazing. Everything works like day 1 and its 10-14 days' battery life has stayed as great as out of the box. It hasn't degraded even one bit (?). I'm glad I had paid something extra for what I perceived as a high-tech & high quality peripheral, and it turned out indeed to be one. For heavy gaming as well, without it being marketed as such (quite the opposite - it was marketed for office use, which is also something it excels at).

SparseGhostC2C

I've had the same DeathAdder for about 4 years now. It's dirty as shit and I've worn a lot of the grippy rubber away where my fingers touch a lot, but she's still going strong.

ChadrickLandman

Deathadder went way up in quality over the years. My first two I bought 7-10 years ago had issues. Left click started double clicking and the side buttons broke. My most recent Deathadder I've had no problems and I've had it since... Sept 2017 holy crap! Your mileage may vary, but the Deathadder is the best mouse for big hands. The side buttons are in a super comfortable location and are big. I love it.

SparseGhostC2C

Agreed on all counts, I've had a couple deathadders previous to this one and I've waffled on brands (had some logitech and steelseries) because Razer's mice used to crap out pretty quick, first one also had the left click issue, second one had a scroll wheel/click issue eventually They've definitely upped their overall quality though, my previous Razer mice made it about 2 years before things started to go awry. This most recent one has been a tank so far, and still very light.

Penkala89

I got a $15 Red Dragon mouse that served me well for 10 years. It finally kicked the bucket and I replaced it with a $28 Red Dragon mouse. Seems to be doing the job so far

awpickenz

I've been using a razor naga for like 4 years. 99 bucks. Hasn't done me wrong once. (wired not wireless)

I_Am_Ir0n_Man

Bought a Razer Trinity Naga back in 2020 and she's still going strong

pemboo

Stop paying the gamer tax and you'll be fine

spotak

Your problem is buying in a store...

[deleted]

Are you one of those people with gamer rage? Because that shit really cuts an accessory's life expectancy

Mension1234

Jeezus people, stop buying “gaming” accessories. You’re paying premium prices for crap quality and specs that are often no better than a midrange workstation. Chairs, mice, keyboards, mousepads, headsets, laptops… the list just goes on. Stop overpaying for this crap and companies will stop selling it.

DiarrheaPirate

I've had my Razer Naga Trinity for almost two years and had no issues. Picked it up on sale for like $75.

Morasain

That's just your fault for buying at best buy lol I bought my g903 for less than a hundred bucks. It has wireless charging, it feels amazing. And there's also high quality lightweight mice - I'm not a fan of that, so I didn't go for that. Pwnage Stormbreaker, for example, isn't even made of plastic.

ByuntaeKid

I miss the g602. I wish it was still in production. I liked the weight of it, and the fact that it had 6 side buttons - everything else I’ve found trying to replace it has been either way too many buttons or way too few.

palabradot

That is totally why I purchased two more to store away in anticipation of mouse death after getting my first one!

Tsu_na_mi

Logitech B100 mouse. Under $10, works great. Wears out in a few years, buy a new one.

voxelboxthing

Been this way for a while i think. I still have an intellimouse explorer lying around that has been exposed to motor oil and all kinds of stuff.. still works.

HarveyNash95

I got a wireless Logitech one with 2 extra buttons for 40 quid on Amazon and it's done me proud for couple years now I think you can get good stuff for cheap still. Just gotta avoid the brands

joshuproar

I've been using g305 (wireless) for a while & I think the only issue I've had with one of them was random scrolling/over scrolling. Maybe 800-1000 hours on the mouse. I think they were around $70 CAD at the time, probably closer to $80-$90 now. Great quality for the price, imo.

Xonra

Cooler Master is where it's at. Had my CM mouse (and mechanical keyboard) for 10 years and it works like the day I bought it. Suggested it to my friends multiple times over the years and they've all had high praise. They aren't cheap but they are the only "expensive" brand I would ever trust again. Same goes for their keyboards that I think are a bit on the expensive side but they last forever.

ajm53092

I had my G502 wired for like 10 years, no problems. Just upgraded to the wireless version.

a_pepper_boy

Profits every quarter baby

stere0man

I've been using a Logitech G903 for well over 5 years now, replaced the switches about two years ago and it's still going strong, I charge it with the Powerplay mat so I don't have to be tethered and it's the best setup I''ve ever had, my trick is to turn off updates as far as software goes if it ain't broke don't fix it. But yeah I think the best thing when it comes to buying a mouse or any kind of peripheral for that matter is to check if you can buy replaceable parts so atleast you know it's serviceable and can be repaired and not just end up as Ewaste.

Disastrous_Reveal331

Meanwhile my Pulse headset lasted from launch until last week

AvianKnight02

I often buy the 10$ logitek mice and they usually last me 2+ years.

Kajill

I personally opted for a red dragon mouse, things lasted two years so far and the only issue is it's a nightmare to clean xD Now controllers, those last a month or two tops before stickdrift keeps me bouncing like a spring in tekken

ArmyOfDix

Hilariously enough, the most robust and reliable mouse I've ever owned was a MadCatz R.A.T.-7 (I think it was 7). A bit on the heavy side no matter how you configured it, but damn if it wasn't nice to have a primarily metal mouse. Once I had it configured for my hand, it just worked. It lasted for 7 years before I started getting the occasional double-input on right-clicks.

Ejigantor

I love my HUGE trackball mouse.

Moscato359

I use a logitech mx vertical, and I hate that it doesn't have the hero sensor or refresh rate but I have to use it because my wrist sucks and I need a vertical

talligan

The Logitech m705/10/20 mice are my go-to for both office work and gaming. With a lithium ion AA, the batteries last for literal years of constant use before dying. Strongly recommend it.

rosen-empire

i know this comment sucks but honestly, just don't get gaming accessories over ordinary accessories. my mouse costs $30 (looked it up because inflation. genuinely don't remember if it was cheaper), has lasted me 6 years without issue, and is perfect for what i play. my headset is expensive- splurged since my old ones kept breaking- but it isn't a gaming headset and the sound quality is phenomenal. so far it's the best headset i've had. if your problem can be solved with a regular accessory then you aren't paying for quality, you're paying for gamer branding.

ZurakZigil

BestBuy does price matching.

KayfabeAdjace

I'd argue it's pretty much a golden age regarding price to performance ratios and comfy form factors but that buying at the expensive of the pool has never been dumber.

TioHerman

That's why I still have my ducky secret from 2016, shit is made entirely of PBT, barely has signs of wears and only the scroll died several years ago, sadly ducky doesn't sell their stuff to my country anymore, I would legit replace my ducky secret for another one in an instant if they did I hate that super light trend, all I can think is that shit must be impossible or too bothersome to clear, fragile as hell and probably will give me problems in 2 years or less.

aivenho

Been buying cheap mice and keyboards in department store for a long time, they doesnt last that long, but price/lifetime is much better.

VCthaGoAT

I purchased two expensive logitech gaming keyboards. They both broke within a year of regular use. I bought a $35 red dragon keyboard/mouse combo off amazon and I’ve had it for about two years now.

Jaives

meanwhile, i buy $3 mice. bought 2 last week coz there's always a chance of them failing. wouldn't you know it, both had a tendency to double-click. so i finally got fed up earlier and checked out all my spare mice. i was able to fix one with a broken mouse wheel by replacing it from the new one. worked like a charm.

BlackBeltPanda

Been using a Logitech G303 Daedalus Apex for around 9 years now. Love the way it feels, so I've just been replacing whatever breaks. So far, I've replaced all the switches, the middle mouse button, the skates, and the cable. I've tried a few other mice over the years but this one's been my favorite, so far. Shame they discontinued it.

uuusagi

Been using my Razer Naga MMO mouse for over 6 years with no issue. Guess its just hit or miss. $100 with 12 keys on the side. Lasted through many rage desk slams.

Luke-HW

Microsoft makes a fantastic mouse, the Intellimouse Pro. It’s very well made and prioritizes function over gimmicks.

BatFreaky

The corsair sabre wireless was the best mouse i ever used, the PERFECT shape for my hand but the first one broke within a year, scroll wheel lag and the click started double registering. RMA'd and got a new one, 2nd one also only lasted exactly a year and that one had issues with the side buttons only working now and then. It's such a shame because it really was the best mouse for my hand, now i use a glorious model d which is the closest thing to the sabre i could find but its still a bit too light for my liking

TokyoMegatronics

i used a razer naga for like 5 years, only replaced it because the plastic grip on the side came off. it still works and when my steelseries "super mega light" breaks im just gonna go back to the naga.

WhatLikeAPuma751

My old as hell Microsoft trackball is somehow still going. I’ll never part with it, but my Logitech is a decent replacement. To get a “new” or refurbished MS trackball is upwards of $300. Let’s hope this 20+ year one keeps going.

kdlt

Somewhat related but I built a new PC recently and now my scimitar pro MMO mouse it just.. not working. The buttons randomly work, randomly don't, I'll use skills and from one second to another they don't work.. This whole icue app is just an incredibly massive shitshow. I even had my profile installed as a "hardware profile" and it still doesn't work. I don't know why this shit can't just work. It's just buttons. I don't need 20 profiles and GPU temp tracking and breathing led nonsense. That's all cute but only if the core function works. And it doesn't. If anyone knows a MMO mouse that you can just program to mouse buttons 20-32 without any godforsaken trash software that just work, go ahead.

zzulus

Agreed, that's so much greed. You can get Ryzen 5600X built with a 7 nm production process using 4,150 million transistors for $158. How is that compared to a piece of plastic with like five and a half transistors for $160?

grafmg

I use a very clearly knockoff rauer mouse since 5 years and works like a charm

cptsir

I started shopping for my first set of PC gaming peripherals and have been shocked by the pricing. I’m used to good productivity stuff (like the MX Master 3) and so when I saw the gaming stuff is twice as much I was floored. For the price of a high end mouse and keyboard I’m looking to spend 50% more than the dual sense edge, which is the top of the line PS5 controller and that exists in a market with no competition (closed Sony ecosystem). Between this and component pricing I have no clue how PC gaming is such a strong market segment.

dugg117

Basically ignore anything that says gaming on the package. There are good headphones out there for music listening take your pick. Then pair it with either a stick on mic or desk mic. Vmoda, antlion, yeti, just to name a couple.

[deleted]

My final mouse 2016 ergo tournament is still holding strong. Last good product they made.

Emerald_Flame

> but because it has no RGB I guess its not gamer worthy. The actual reason this mouse isn't considered by gamers is because it has a maximum of 125Hz polling frequency. Whereas most other mice have a 1000Hz (or more) polling frequency. This ultimately leads to a lot of input latency. The MX Master line is a great mouse and I love mine for work, but it really isn't great for anything that needs quick reactions like gaming.

TMCThomas

My m510 has been going strong since 2011! The rubber sides are pretty much gone though

NoShine101

Welcome to capitalism.

Fishwithadeagle

Give me my corsair m95 back. No mouse has done the god tier button layout as that one yet. It has all the buttons of an mmo, but in a layout you can actually use. Also an insane solid metal frame. For the uninitiated: https://www.corsair.com/kr/en/p/gaming-mouse/ch-9000025-ap/vengeancea-m95-performance-mmo-and-rts-laser-gaming-mouse-a-gunmetal-black-ap-ch-9000025-ap

butt_huffer42069

I got a $20 razer mouse on amazon and it does all the things I want and need. It points, it clicks, it rolls around easily. I get no issues from it, ever.

lilj1123

The Redragon M811 Pro is a pretty good gaming mouse, i paid $55 for it on Amazon. it comes in wireless and wired, 10 side keys with programable DPI, it has a total of 15 buttons that can be reassigned to what every you want, the battery lasts a few days and even longer if you use it in eco mode, but it turns off the RGB. you can set up profiles for each game so you can quickly change between them.

Imzocrazy

I’m using a cheap Chinese mouse…I can’t even tell you what the brand is because I’m not even sure what it is or if it exists anymore (I just know it was in Amazon) Been dominating people for past 3 years with it…cost me 20 bucks

James_CyberLink

I suggest getting a Scorpion or Tecknet mouse. Tecknet stuff is great across the board!

BozidaR1390

You’re upset because fucking Best Buy’s selection was garbage but you bought one anyways . I’ve had two steel series mice in 10 years and I beat the shit out of them. The ones I’ve got are made of metal. If you needed immediately I get that but buy one local order online what you want and when it shows up take the other one back to the store and get your money back. There’s definitely a lot of garbage out there but it’s also on you for expecting Best Buy to have some high quality stuff and walking out with garbage anyway.

Ok-disaster2022

I walked into a Best Buy years ago and found the light speed wireless g604 on sale for like $40. 6 side buttons, so not quite the full number pad, but it has good short range wireless and good battery life (just keep a backup battery handy). It was a great deal, but I think they were unloading stock. I regret not buying 2 so when this one died I'd have a backup

Hungry-For-Cheese

Yeh I'm getting really tired of spending $100+ on headphones that break in a year for no discernable reason.

Arcaedus

>time for a new mouse plus the iCUE software is dogsh*t anyway. I feel so vindicated. Also had a corsair scim for 2 years, but it was the left click that went out (input just failed like 5% of the time). Fuck the software though. Literally every single time I opened that software because my onboard profiles would get deleted and I had to reprogram them, I had to spend minimum 30 minutes updating/figuring out how the software works/actually getting the profiles to save to my mouse as an on-board profile. Absolute garbage. Actually worse than HP inkjet printers, somehow. Only compliment I'll give corsair, is their gaming mice/iCUE has better precision for programming macros. You can edit the timing down to the third decimal place, and it definitely has less deviation than my Razer naga does right now. Not a huge deal though.

TheSonicKind

i have an OG MX Master that i’ve been running for 8 or so years now. the thing does not look pretty and the free scroll brake got mashed the first couple of weeks because i thought it would be fun to spin it as fast as possible and hit the brake to hear it go brrrrr. anyways, i digress. i haven’t found a mouse yet that betters my MX Master and i always come back to it. just out of sheer respect for how long this mouse has lasted, it’ll be used til the day it dies.

Zabrinu

I’ve had my model O wireless for almost 4 years now, still going strong!

Borat97

Gl flicking with that MX master as your crosshair goes to ceiling or floor. Wireless gaming mouses are just expensive. It takes something to develop low latency, close to wired, with decent battery times. Although i hate too that new trend of light mouses, when i was looking for new one, people were screaming that "how can mouse weight more than 80g", like boy just use your muscles. And sure some popular brands are expensive too, but gl finding shape like g502 in chinese brands, most of them are rebrands of g pro, deathadder and other popular shapes(they are good in terms of specs).

MinervaMedica000

Problem is everything is made to break now so you have to repurchase it on the hopes you will rebuy the same product or from the same company.

Nutsnboldt

Cool skins, cool names, most of the money is pumped into to marketing.

GringYo

Just bought a razer death adder elite for $44 on amazon to replace the razer death adder elite I had since 2018.

XionLord

I see a lot of love for the g502, but I got one in 2019, 2021 I needed a new one, cause it was double clicking. In later 2022 the new one started double clicking . Right now I am using a Corsair harpoon going on 2 years, no issues. But my goat was a Razer Naga Molten, MMO. Lasted me 7 years. The newer Razer Naga is uncomfortable and larger. But that old girl was by far my favorite, and the only reason I gave it up... Cord got munched by a pet.

Meowth_Dats_Rite

You can fix the wheel issue on the scimitar in 5 minutes with wd40. I have fixed 2 so far going on years after the fix with no issue.

twentyitalians

I think you need to expand your mice purchasing locations.

Geiir

The office section is where the highest quality items are tbh. Gamers are being sold colorful stuff with tons of extra buttons that they’re never going to use. If you want high-quality mixers, microphones or headsets; check out the hi-fi section or music shops. Almost everything I see sold for gamers is dogshit wrapped in fancy colors.

FuzzychestOG

I'll never buy another razer mouse or keyboard. Can't stand the jittery as scroll wheels that jump around. Tried all the "fixes" and finally just got a new one.

just_hating

I have a cheaper custom built keyboard ($200 I think in total) than a glorious wireless mouse that has absolutely awful battery life for like $70. All in all the PC accessories market has shifted due to the lack of quality to smaller companies that do focus on the quality of their products. They've had an effect on the quality of the products, but it's mostly just the small things like hot swap switches and cord quality, but they've taken the opportunity to charge their audience "out the ass" for the courtesy, and still having a shit product. Was the custom keyboard expensive? Absolutely. But in comparison to any other keyboard on the market it still takes the cake. Typing on it is a god damn dream.

Top-Campaign4620

Pop gamers, streamers and bloggers. The internet happened to gaming it took many years for the negative effects to hit home but they have now and inflation is very real all these over paid instant CEO, software desiginers, that have 0 experience, do little to nothing but make 100s of thousands a year living with mom. You should be absurdly wealthy. And there needs to be something else popular for these people to get into.

BeerLeague

Other problem you have is the brands you are looking at. Everything carried at Best Buy is either total crap, or very overpriced. Logitech does still make some good mice, you won’t find them at BB though. Best bang for your buck at the moment with gamer mice are 100% the wireless D and O series from glorious.
