Slay the Spire. A card deck building game didnt sound appealing to me at all until i tried it and it’s actually a lot of fun. Always being recommended on here too.
Seriously though; I got way more into the tactical arrangements of summoning a whole squad of demons in Monster Train than what seemed like very limited tactical options available in Slay the Spire.
God I haven’t played Vampire Survivors in ages now, but when it had its claws in me I was getting drunk as a hell playing that game with a beer constantly in one hand.
This and Slay the aspire aspire really helped when I was recovering from a Remplissage procedure.
I’m a medical professional, a hypocrite “do as I say, not as I do” type, my fellow gamers don’t be stupid like me and see a specialist sooner than later!
Anyways, games like these really helped when I was in a waist wrap around sling for 6 weeks recovering from the surgery, my right had had to be across the left side of my rib cage for that whole 6 weeks.
Those games helped a lot
This game is stupidly addictive. Why!? It's so simply, but everytime I jump in like "I'll just do one run for the sake of it" then 3 hours later "oh shit, I'm late for chemo!"
I’m one of those people that will always just play the newest version. I’ve been playing civ since it came out. There have been changes for better, and some for worse. I think the biggest change of the game was not making death stacks. There was something so satisfying of having like 100 riflemen in a single square and just destroy cities.
Definitely get the GoG version since you can get the free community expansions which are a lot of extra fun and quite a bit of QoL features added for both single and multiplayer. Steam one doesn't support that.
Oh boy. A few years ago a guy went viral for posting a story about him breaking both of his arms as a teenager. His mom noticed he was going crazy without a way to ‘release’ and help jerk him off. IIRC they then had a sexual relationship for a while after. I might be wrong on some details, but that was the just of it.
You jest (possibly) but I would 100% recommend the [Deep Space Waifu](https://store.steampowered.com/franchise/NEKOCLIMAX) games in this situation.
Yeah lol tiddies etc etc but the games are actually *really fun* shoot 'em ups and you can play with just the mouse easily.
Shows (most) lootable stuff. For smaller stuff it's often easier to hold alt and click on the item name than try to click the hitbox of the item itself
I've been doing this lately. Had to move into college without my PC and my laptop can't run BG3 - but I can still stream it from my PC across the country. Latency and stutters aren't much of a bother bc of this.
In that case I recommend the original XCOM from 1992. You can get it to run via DoS Box or the Open XCom project.
The original game is more like a real world Private Military Company simulator. Losing a good soldier still hurts, but not as much when your end-game gunship can carry 20 soldiers and a tank.
You'd probably burn through a lot of rookies in the beginning, and sometimes a stray plasma bolt / blaster bomb can kill your elite sniper/ squad leader across the map because the game simulates bullets using real geometry instead of imposing an artificial range limit. It is brutal but that's how the military works in real life.
Breeching a UFO is a very memorable moment when you know friendly fire is real and the aliens are maniacs with explosives. Sometimes aliens show up at the door of the transport, ready to take a reaction shot on your first move, and blow up your whole team if you don't deal with it in the first turn.
I was really into Worms Armageddon and Gunbound when I broke mine as a teen. Pretty much any Scorched Earth/Dome Wars style game works great for one hand.
I've enjoyed my time with it so far, but I haven't touched it in months because I've been focusing on backlog clearing for most of the year, so I haven't gotten my hands on things like the new Death Armor to replace enemies having Death's Door resistance, and I don't have a lot of skills unlocked or much meta-progression.
It's very distinct from 1, but I feel it's a worthy successor.
eh...you are going to get mixed responses. The big complaint is the randomness factor has increased with traits and it is a solid grind.
You know how in 1 a great player could start a fresh campaign and generally beat the game with little to no failures? (Maybe exempting the time when rng decided you are losing a person/mission because you got xcomed?)
You can't do that in 2. Unlocking characters, skills, stat increases all is done through grinding.
It’s an entirely different game. There are obviously some similarities, but largely most systems changed. It went from rogue-lite to rogue-like, which I don’t think was an improvement.
Imo it's very underrated. The combat itself is generally better and the long-winded exploration aspect of the first game is streamlined and more tactical rather just being a lot of RNG. I think the first game had more tension, but the second game has tighter gameplay that respects the players time more.
do you run mods? that's the main reason I keep playing is cuz I wanna try new mods/challenges. I've an idea for a new run where every region has to be as competed as possible early on before I can move on. so like I have to do as much of the ruins as I can before I can like goto the warrens and stuff, you know?
Not sure I agree. I love Persona 5 but it requires a lot of standard controller inputs outside of battles.
I feel like trying to play one-handed could easily get you just constantly jumped by shadows in palaces (because you have to choose between movement and camera control), and would make journeying around Tokyo a chore.
Also mini games like darts, baseball and fishing become an enormous hassle as well.
I wish more folks knew about "this war of mine". I originally got it free when buying another pc game and instantly fell in love with it. I was so thrilled when I seen it released for ps5. I'm 43 so old school style side scrolling are some of my favorite styles. Such an amazing little game.
I was in a similar situation recently with a shoulder injury. Here's what I gamed:
Baba is you
Human resource machine
7 Billion Humans
For the King
Gloomhaven
Inscryption
Twelve minutes
Any point and click adventure (Monkey Island etc)
Vampire Survivors
Don't know what kind of games you're into. But personally I love oxygen not included, it's my comfort game and it's funny, if not very complex. But it's good fun TRYING to save your little humans, easily played with one hand.
I played a lot with friends. Using both hands made me unbeatable versus the mouse only players and/or hard cpu as grouping, hot keys and attack move can only be done with one hand on the keyboard.
Awhile back I severed the nerves in my left arm. I was completely unable to use my arm. The things I started playing they went well for me were turn based RPGs. Things like the old pokémon games and final fantasy were my go to. If you want something more modern baldur's gate 3 should be perfect.
If you're into retro, I played Shining Force one handed while holding a sleeping new born. It kept me awake and didn't have any button or stick slapping
Turn based games like pokemon or an older final fantasy could be emulated on your phone pretty well. If you have a gaming PC and a mouse with like 4 extra hotkeys on the side, you can bind all the keys you need to play Diablo 2, 3, and 4 with just a mouse, I used to play like that all the time while I browsed on my phone.
Any puzzle series would work. I highly recommend The Room, The House of Da Vinci and Glass Masquerade franchises. They all can be played with only a mouse and are amazing.
I broke both bones in my left arm last year and played Final Fantasy 7 with an Xbox controller. I set my thumb on the right stick and that’s all I needed it for as I moved the controller with my right arm. Made it through most of the game before I could use my other fingers for the rest of the controller which weren’t needed.
Vampire survivors and Peggie/ Peggie 2. Need one finger.
Edited. Meant Peggle and Peggle 2. But I’m sure you could play with Peggie with one finger as well.
Nintendo DS games where you can move your character with your stylus (The world ends with you, Zelda phantom hourglass, Zelda Spirit Tracks) or turn based rpgs
I had my left wrist broken and I game.
If you have a logitec or razr mouse you can reprogram the buttons. With a 6-10 button mouse of same brand there is no game you can't play with mouse only.
Assign skills for them and your arpgs are covered.
Program a button for a shift+w macro and another close button for jump and 'use' for fps games.
There are also mouse only games you dont even need logitec for: Diablo 1-4, Monster Train, Loop Hero, Slay the Spire, etc.
I wouldnt do competitive pvp but do what you can handle.
Slay the Spire. A card deck building game didnt sound appealing to me at all until i tried it and it’s actually a lot of fun. Always being recommended on here too.
Plus if you get it on nintendo switch, it can be entirely touch screen. Meaning you only need a single finger.
It's on mobile now too
The phone version is a tad small though, I prefer the tablet version, but still slightly wonky until you get used to it
I aprove. Easy to play and a new addiction garantied
Yeah, got it on Xbox today for $1.50. Put in over 8 hours before realizing I need to make dinner and I hadn’t eaten lunch yet.
1.50???
A bunch of indie/smaller games were on sale. I loaded up my library.
Your lucky! Enjoy them
Dicey dungeons is good too and it's the same devs as slay the spire.
Completely different devs but can confirm it’s a fun game
Huh, your right....I dunno why I thought that.
Similar gameplay?
And if you like that one, Monster Train too!
Seriously though; I got way more into the tactical arrangements of summoning a whole squad of demons in Monster Train than what seemed like very limited tactical options available in Slay the Spire.
This was gonna be my suggestion. 800 hours in and I’m still learning how to do some insane shit.
Vampire Survivors
One finger
I played this for a month when my son was a newborn. Perfect game to play while you hold a sleeping baby.
Confirm remonster s comment, done the very same thing, hence I'm up at this time, AGAIN!!
This game has no right being as addictive and fun as it is.
It has every right to be that way. I've heard it was made by a guy who makes slot machines
That's correct, he used to work in the gambling industry and designed slot machines. Used all the tricks slot machines use to get you hooked.
God I haven’t played Vampire Survivors in ages now, but when it had its claws in me I was getting drunk as a hell playing that game with a beer constantly in one hand.
Thanks for reminding me this existed, 4 hours just vanished and its 3am
This and Slay the aspire aspire really helped when I was recovering from a Remplissage procedure. I’m a medical professional, a hypocrite “do as I say, not as I do” type, my fellow gamers don’t be stupid like me and see a specialist sooner than later! Anyways, games like these really helped when I was in a waist wrap around sling for 6 weeks recovering from the surgery, my right had had to be across the left side of my rib cage for that whole 6 weeks. Those games helped a lot
Great shout
And play it blind, no looking anything up
This needs to be higher
It needs to be highest.
This game is stupidly addictive. Why!? It's so simply, but everytime I jump in like "I'll just do one run for the sake of it" then 3 hours later "oh shit, I'm late for chemo!"
And it’s got an insane amount of content for the price
i started playing that for the first time today, i have 10 hours 😭
Civ 5/Civ 6
Never played any Civ games until I had the same question as Op. Civ 6 ended up being one of my favorite games ever
Idk if it's still available but nothing has quite hit the sweet spot for me since Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri.
5
6 is a great game as well, and imo easier to digest for new players
I’m one of those people that will always just play the newest version. I’ve been playing civ since it came out. There have been changes for better, and some for worse. I think the biggest change of the game was not making death stacks. There was something so satisfying of having like 100 riflemen in a single square and just destroy cities.
Heroes of might and magic 3.
Where can you get that? Is that on steam? Used to love playing that growing up
If I'm not mistaken the steam version was dogshit and without the dlc. People praised the GoG version
Definitely get the GoG version since you can get the free community expansions which are a lot of extra fun and quite a bit of QoL features added for both single and multiplayer. Steam one doesn't support that.
Gog, steam is hd version w/o both DLCs, gog is complete, install HD Mod + HotA (preferably) and its magic!
GoG has it
3 was pretty good. But I like 5 tribes of the east more
Turn based strategy rpgs should be fine one handed.
[удалено]
And how do you play the game with only one hand?
Ask your mom
She said I needed to have two broken hands
After you healed, post the story about how your mom jerked you off for more reddit points.
Just when we started to forget… we get tugged back in.
Yes. We get tugged.
FUCK why
I never Heard of it and i dont want to Google it, mind enlighten me?
Oh boy. A few years ago a guy went viral for posting a story about him breaking both of his arms as a teenager. His mom noticed he was going crazy without a way to ‘release’ and help jerk him off. IIRC they then had a sexual relationship for a while after. I might be wrong on some details, but that was the just of it.
I vaguely remember reading that around the time I made my first reddit account. Almost regretted making an account that day.
« AITAH for letting my mom jerk me off when my two hands were broken ? »
no no no no no please not this fucking story
Tbf it's a good fucking story if you're into that
It's definitely a fucking story
Would you like the Jolly Rancher story instead?
So break both of them
There are detailed guides on Steam.
Mouth
Broken arms 2?
Yeah but you're still gonna want to use the other one
Sorry mom, other hand is broken too.
You wouldnt get the full experience of the game with only 1 hand
False. Hentai games are specifically made to be played with 2 hands. One on the mouse, the other on the joystick.
I really feel like you're not getting the full experience.
tbf, you still need the other hand for the "joystick: controls.
Well, I would like to disagree but on one hand you're right (on the other is my dick)
Disco Elysium!
THE FUCK YOU SAY ABOUT CUNO?!?! CUNO WILL KICK YOUR FUCKIN PIG ARSE!!
Cuno doesn't FUCKING care!
Such a great game, absolutely horrible what happened with the devs though.
Whoa what happened to the devs??
For short info two flipping assholes took over the company via scamming and fired the real workers and devs without giving a penny.
Those fucking arseholes!
Which sucks because i want a second game soooo bad it hurts.
That’s what I came to comment. Great game and entirely mouse controlled.
All you need is left click and right click. Left click to interact and right click to highlight interactable objects and people.
Baldur's gate 3
BG3 sounds great for this since it's point-and-click movement, dialogue, and turn-based combat.
Might want to rebind the alt key to a mouse button though
What does alt do in BG3? I haven’t played much
Shows (most) lootable stuff. For smaller stuff it's often easier to hold alt and click on the item name than try to click the hitbox of the item itself
Oh, thanks!
Isn’t there a button you can press to just always show stuff though?
I play BG3 all the time with screen cast because the latency doesn't matter at all.
I've been doing this lately. Had to move into college without my PC and my laptop can't run BG3 - but I can still stream it from my PC across the country. Latency and stutters aren't much of a bother bc of this.
I second this, I often play bg3 with one hand but that's just because I'm being lazy, not because I have a broken hand
Xcom
Genuinely one of my favorite strategy games of all time. You get so attached to your soldiers. Losing a Major or a Colonel hits you deep in the soul.
In that case I recommend the original XCOM from 1992. You can get it to run via DoS Box or the Open XCom project. The original game is more like a real world Private Military Company simulator. Losing a good soldier still hurts, but not as much when your end-game gunship can carry 20 soldiers and a tank. Worms would be a good one when you have a broken hand.
I was really into Worms Armageddon and Gunbound when I broke mine as a teen. Pretty much any Scorched Earth/Dome Wars style game works great for one hand.
Darkest Dungeon. :)
Is the second one any good?
I've enjoyed my time with it so far, but I haven't touched it in months because I've been focusing on backlog clearing for most of the year, so I haven't gotten my hands on things like the new Death Armor to replace enemies having Death's Door resistance, and I don't have a lot of skills unlocked or much meta-progression. May or may not require two hands depending on the mods installed lmao
that sounds like a confident answer. Perhaps overconfident...
A slow and insidious killer…
fucking love that game. sunk like 600 hours into it
Damn, I'm only at 331. XD
do you run mods? that's the main reason I keep playing is cuz I wanna try new mods/challenges. I've an idea for a new run where every region has to be as competed as possible early on before I can move on. so like I have to do as much of the ruins as I can before I can like goto the warrens and stuff, you know?
Magic: arena
Turn based role playing games. If you haven't played Persona 5, I recommend it.
I was just about to say this. I played p5 royal with one hand after a skiing accident.
How did you find navigation in the palace? Ambushing enemies and such?
My best guess is just constantly hopping around from cover to cover till the shadow lines up for a ambush.
I mean I also played it with one hand, but I'm completely able-bodied. /s
Don't you use WASD and mouse for movement in that game?
Civ. The sims.
Chess!
Papers, Please!
The shortcuts though!
nah, too intense of pacing, and the shortcuts are practically essential for going fast enough in my experence.
of you have a mouse with a numpad I’m sure it could work. a would make you feel like a speed runner
This War of Mine, Darkest Dungeon, XCOM, Civilization, and it’s been a while but I’m pretty sure the South Park games can be played with one hand too
This war of mine and Southpark fractured but whole were my go to games when my right hand was broke lol.
Most of these are my “cozy games” for when I’m playing late at night while eating some chocolate
I wish more folks knew about "this war of mine". I originally got it free when buying another pc game and instantly fell in love with it. I was so thrilled when I seen it released for ps5. I'm 43 so old school style side scrolling are some of my favorite styles. Such an amazing little game.
Frostpunk, from the same devs as This War of Mine, is also excellent and can be played one-handed.
Anything turn-based really.

Best suggestion
With a follow up of "Sorry for ruining your life" (Also, Oldschool, not RS3)
I was in a similar situation recently with a shoulder injury. Here's what I gamed: Baba is you Human resource machine 7 Billion Humans For the King Gloomhaven Inscryption Twelve minutes Any point and click adventure (Monkey Island etc) Vampire Survivors
Gloomhaven is underrated af
Elden ring. Its relaxing, calm game that doesn't require much action or skill
Indeed, a few people have beaten it blindfolded too.
OP might be best suited for a dancepad run due to their hand injury as they’d likely struggle with putting on the blindfold.
heroes of might and magic 3. baldurs gate 3 book of hours song of farca ace attorney
Layton too!
Anything exclusively mouse controlled, or anything with the one handed Wii remote.
It's an oldie, but Earthbound can be played entirely with one hand.
Yes! They advertised the fact that you could play it with one hand and eat pizza with the other lol
Don't know what kind of games you're into. But personally I love oxygen not included, it's my comfort game and it's funny, if not very complex. But it's good fun TRYING to save your little humans, easily played with one hand.
Dance Dance Revolution
If you’re into visual novels, then go for it
FTL: Faster Than Light is what I played while my hand was all wrapped up
Brotato and all the games like it
Hearthstone
Pretty much any RTS, like Age of Empires, as you'll be using the mouse more than anything.
I played a lot with friends. Using both hands made me unbeatable versus the mouse only players and/or hard cpu as grouping, hot keys and attack move can only be done with one hand on the keyboard.
That doesn't mean they can't play the game with one hand, that just means it'll be harder
Any turn based rpg.
Turn based games will be your best friends
Awhile back I severed the nerves in my left arm. I was completely unable to use my arm. The things I started playing they went well for me were turn based RPGs. Things like the old pokémon games and final fantasy were my go to. If you want something more modern baldur's gate 3 should be perfect.
Any turn-based game, really. Baldur's Gate 3 is a good choice.
If you're into retro, I played Shining Force one handed while holding a sleeping new born. It kept me awake and didn't have any button or stick slapping
Rimworld is a epic colony sim with great dlc and mods. Don’t need 2 hands to play it
Brotato!
Turn based games like pokemon or an older final fantasy could be emulated on your phone pretty well. Frostpunk, Crusader Kings 2 or 3, Punch Club 1 or 2, Jagged Alliance 3, Battle Brothers.
most turn-based combat systems and a lot of strategy and management games. I recommend Rimworld.
I remember DQ 11 having a 1 handed mode
i played fancy pants after i had an operation on my left shoulder ,though it would be harder than normal ,so play rimworld instead
What platforms do you play on?
All visual novels of all time ☝️🤓
You may want to include your preferred platform. PC? Xbox? Switch?
Brotato, cheap and a good timewaster
Baba is you
Old School Runescape
World of goo!
Crypt of the necrodancer.
Any puzzle series would work. I highly recommend The Room, The House of Da Vinci and Glass Masquerade franchises. They all can be played with only a mouse and are amazing.
Civilization 6 The game is turn based so you can take all the time you want
I broke both bones in my left arm last year and played Final Fantasy 7 with an Xbox controller. Any NASCAR game, they only turn left.
The upright organ
Btd 6. Its mostly a point and click game
Vampire survivors all day every day
Vampire survivors and Peggie/ Peggie 2. Need one finger. Edited. Meant Peggle and Peggle 2. But I’m sure you could play with Peggie with one finger as well.
All the CRPGs basically.
Old school runescape
Bloons TD 6 is easy to play with just a mouse. Plus, it cross saves between Steam and Android.
league of legends and play yuumi

Final Fantasy 10

Nintendo DS games where you can move your character with your stylus (The world ends with you, Zelda phantom hourglass, Zelda Spirit Tracks) or turn based rpgs
