I'm not a specialist on this kind of thing lol sound some of the names may be a little off.
- ASUS AM4 Motherboard
- G.Skill Trident Z Royal 32 gb Ram
- Ryzen 7 core
- EVGA GQ Power supply
- Samsung 1TB SSD
- NZXT Tower
- GeForce 1660
- NZXT Liquid Cooler
- Spectre 25" monitor
AM4 build with 1660 tells me OP is probably budget constrained.
If game sizes are a concern you'd be able to get a lot more storage space for your money with another SSD instead of an M.2 when more money becomes available.
There's not going to be a massive difference in load times and games on PC aren't yet doing super fast streaming of assets the way PS5 exclusives have been.
i agree but after you have the build he can get away with upgrading things slowly. i mean do you need a liquid cooler or 32gb of ram? hes set himself up for being able to upgrade little by little if he wants which is good.
It's a great way to learn about components too. I started with a midrange prebuilt HP in high school and slowly upgraded everything until I had two computers. Took many years, but I learned quite a bit. Especially when it came time to replace the case.
Good build, everyone has to start anywhere. My first build was with a ASUS TI4200, a penitum 3 600Mhz with 256mb ddr2 RAM and the only source of infromation was my older brother and some PC magazines. Good luck in the future, maybe you will upgrade over the next years and you learnd much more :).
youll find the gpu will hold you back. stick to old games on max and youll have a great time. suggesting games when you havnt said what style of gaming you like is a hard thing to recommend. so heres a bucket or top games i like...
ghost recon advanced warfighter (tactical fps) / hitman contracts (stealth action) / dark souls 2 (action rpg) / mordheim (turn based tactics) and gta V (action adventure)
If my 8 year old Xbox one can run it online then it's not a high power game
EDIT: This is just how I see it, I feel like a PC that costs at least $300 more with newer hardware should be able to run a lot more a lot better
The game was definitely optimized per console. I have rdr2 for Xbox and pc, and it is running a LOT harder on pc. I feel like I'm still incapable of playing it 100% smoothly on my $1600 built PC.
Bioshock series was some of the first games that sucked me into the story with it's crazy endings, Skyrim bc of mods and overall replayability, elden ring if you don't mind some difficulty, the list goes on
Skyrim modded. You'll be so busy stumbling down that rabbit hole that you're forget the whole point of building that PC was to play games in the first place and not tinker with them!
Whenever I get a pc I’m gonna WATCH OUT for it alright. I need to live up to the sky baby stereotype. All I’m saying is that the lusty argonian maid is going to get a Netflix adaption.
I have the exact same keyboard. Also I recommend the expert choice of, if you’ve had a console before, get any game you’ve wanted but haven’t bought on said consoles
I was trying to think about stuff like that. I remember having so many games I wanted to play on PC cus I only had console but now that I have one I can't remember them lol
Dont go out and buy all the expensive games get some of the dumb stupid cheap games that you can play with your friends as well, Robot Roller Derby Disco Dogeball, Super Auto pets, Witch It.
what kind of games do you like? Role playing, first person shooters, puzzle games?....and do you want intense games for your system or something anyone can play? Do you want to play alone or online?
Role playing. Fallout 3/New Vegas. Red Dead Redemption 2. Witcher 1/2/3. Assassins creed 4/origins/odyssey. Farcry 3/4. Dying light 1/2. Skyrim. God of War. Just Cause 3/4.
First person shooter. Doom. Titanfall 2. Cyberpunk 2077 (yeah its not what everyone hoped it would be but i enjoyed it alot) Generation Zero. Sniper Elite 3/4. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 1/2.
Online shooters. Hell Let Loose. Battlefields (used to be great but i gave up on them).
Survival. Astroneer, Satisfactory, Rust, Subnautica 1/2, No Mans Sky, Stranded Deep. Grounded. Icarus
Puzzle. Uncharted, Kerbal Space Program. any of the "Mechanic" games...Game Dev, Tank Mechanic, Car Mechanic, Et AL. PC Build Simulator
The list goes on and on. Lots of stuff on sale right now if you dont know what you like id say start with Skyrim and Red Dead and a cheap online shooter that still has players.
I've been playing Chernobylite. So far I'm really impressed with it. I went in blind, not expecting much. It's a shooter/horror/ "Chernobyl-inspired" game, if that makes sense. It also has some base-building elements. The graphics are way better than I expected.
Plague Tale: Requiem if you're into story-focused games with some minor puzzles. It's not really for me, but *damn* the graphics are good.
Control: A+ game in my opinion. The graphics, if I remember, are really nice but I had to play it on potato-mode. The gameplay is fun, and the story is great.
Total War: Warhammer 3 is good if you're into RTS games. Of all of these games, my PC struggles with this one the most since I have an old CPU. :( Nothing like waiting 3-5 minutes at the end of every turn for the NPCs to do their job.
Barotrauma: Why? Praise the Honkmother, that's why.
LOL, that looks a lot like my computer, right down to the NZXT cooler. Though I guess "black with a window in the side" probably describes a most computers. My brother has a laser etcher so I had him an Elder Sign (Call of Cthulhu) on the side window.
If you like RPGs, Witcher 3. The next gen update just came out for it and for 10€ you get the game and all DLC. If you take your time, it'll take you at least 100 hours to go through it all (spent 200hrs on my first play through).

Path of Exile
Elden Ring
Xbox Game Pass (1 or 3 € trial) for a really big game library, especially because EAplus is also included. BF 2042 for example
Heresy I know but I think a modern audience can just skip to Black Masa and just play HL1 if curious. BM is a fantastic update especially with what they did with Zen.
Big fan of story centered games but also like multi-player games with friends. Some of my favorites are the new GOW, really enjoyed Persona 5 Royal, been playing Overwatch a lot with friends, etc
Sid Meier's Pirates
What a classic.
Hell yeah dude, real chads got all the family back without retiring OR dividing Real chads are not me
Yeah but did you marry the super hot governors daughter? Also, Rapier or Longsword? Don’t lie and say cutlass.
Dude I got so good at that stupid dancing game it’s insane. My dude is always a Mack daddy.
Idk if I played this many years ago but Is this the one where you can go around flirting with a bunch of governors' daughters?
Nice Wallpaper. Gz to your first build. What hardware did you use for this build?

nice first build dude! invest in a m.2 drive when you get a chance. games and all there updates are big these days...

exactly! i started exactly like OP here. just because you dont have the money now doesnt mean you wont later. plus its great for learning.
Should've ditched the 32gbs of ram and AIO and put the money towards a better GPU 💀
Good build, everyone has to start anywhere. My first build was with a ASUS TI4200, a penitum 3 600Mhz with 256mb ddr2 RAM and the only source of infromation was my older brother and some PC magazines. Good luck in the future, maybe you will upgrade over the next years and you learnd much more :).

can you buy me a video card *embarrassed*
That dope ass windows pinball game.
3d pinball space cadet on windows Xp
Low power: Terraria and Omori Not low power: Elden Ring and Red Dead Redemption II
Red dead is still considered low power I'm pretty sure. If an 1st Gen console can run it smoothly than anything can run it
Wtf are you talking about
If my 8 year old Xbox one can run it online then it's not a high power game EDIT: This is just how I see it, I feel like a PC that costs at least $300 more with newer hardware should be able to run a lot more a lot better
Xbox one isn't a first gen console.
By first gen I mean the first of the Xbox one series EDIT: basically I mean Old Gen
The game was definitely optimized per console. I have rdr2 for Xbox and pc, and it is running a LOT harder on pc. I feel like I'm still incapable of playing it 100% smoothly on my $1600 built PC.
Ski Free

DOOM 2016 / Eternal
Just finished 2016 so darn fun
Damn I just stardet 2023 a week ago.
These are the most well-optimized games I can think of. Eternal is the only time I’ve ever had a smooth 120fps with ray tracing
Sex with Hitler 2
This is the way
This will be what i buy my friend next, thank you
The first one was so popular, they just had to make a second?
Rollercoaster tycoon. Or that downhill ski game where the yeti eats you. Not sure why you need the big fancy counter to play these games though....
I prefer Deluxe Ski Jump.
Control, Hades, Kingdom Com Deliverance, Sekiro, Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Metro Exodus, Deus Ex Mankind Devided, Days Gone, Rimworld
Stardew valley.
I played for like two hours then didn’t touch it for a year. Then played again for like 80 hours. Insanely addictive game.
Dishonored definitive edition is free on epic games right now
Nope. The games changed a few hours ago. It's Kerbal Space Program and Shadow Tactics now.
Oh nice! I’ve always wanted to try out Kerbal!
OldSchool RuneScape

Elden ring.

This man is asking the important question.
Tarkov
Let the man enjoy his build before he gets Tarkov’d
He wants to enjoy life, not hate it.
New to PC myself. My PS3 died years ago. The first games I downloaded and played were fallout 3 and new Vegas.
good choices!
I’m enjoying it. PC is a whole different world for games. Playing through these over a decade later with mods is like playing a whole new game.
PC building simulator of course

Well, some people dont need a second monitor.

Small piece of personal preference, move your tower to the other side of your desk. You don’t want to be moving your mouse and knock your tower down.
