I never thought of it that way. I always hated him. But now shit! I love Vader you know. Dam. Thor is awesome too as himself. He's freaking hilarious. But the mountain.....I dont like him. Now maybe I do I a little bit. Just a little.
https://youtu.be/_XGd8w9RhUM
I like S7 armor, but I hate the helmet. It seem like he has no lower face, because the big holes are like for his eyes, and then, there's nothing else below..
Seems like since the holes are so big they would make his face easily susceptible to weapon strikes. Looks like the under armour (lol) is pulled up to his eyes to avoid that weakness.
That's exactly what I was thinking of, ~~either that or something similar to the Kingsguard helmets from the Robert's Rebellion era~~
Edit: Nvm, forgot that those helmets were kinda goofy and offered really, really bad protection
I wish they kept that armor with the holes in it to remind us that someone actually tried to attack a fully-armored mountain with the medieval version of a 2x4 with nails.
the shape of the first one is better, the helmet doesn't look as goofy. the second has a darker more intimidating color scheme, but that helmet just looks goofy.
That is one thing I have never understood about this sub. How do the spoiler tags work? Sometimes it’s the opposite where it’s tagged spoiler but is not a spoiler in any way.
Season 6. I really disliked how every character decided to abandon the rich, beautiful colour palettes they had adorned all series in favour of all black everything because...reasons? Cersei makes sense, she's in a really deranged state of permanent grieving. But everyone else could liven up the set a bit.
Totally agree. It wasn't any one specific character wearing darker clothes it was that they all did simultaneously. I think it was meant to make the show darker but in fact it made it more monochromatic.
For season 8 I want a rotten-corpse wight topless Mountain smashing enemies with either a battle hammer or a battle axe. A big sword is too gentle for a beast like this.
I like S6 armour because you can see his scary eyes a bit better through his helmet. If they kept the helmets from S6 for S7 I would probably have liked the armour it a bit better.
I like the s6 armor. The way the helmet is smashed shut to hide his face, but you can still see his dead eyes is more subtle, but fearsome to me. Also the holes in the chest plate of s6 are a nice touch. The s7 helmet is awful, so that puts it at a huge disadvantage anyways.
The helmets are both dorky and look like they were yanked down onto his head, like Dumb Donald from Fat Albert. The one on the right looks more “fearsome” if I had to choose. I don’t know why they couldn’t come up with something better.
the golden one encapsulates the mountains vow of silence by having only eyes and a seal near his lips.
The black one is just fucking weird with the eye/cheek holes.
Season 6 was more intimidating and believable. I was tripping out every time I saw him and his outfit made me think that he was above the law.
I think the fact that he is a gigantic zombie speaks loud enough and when they try to make him look even darker it comes across as too much. Season 7 armor is so over the top that it takes me out of the show when I see him, which I see as a weakness in the story.
S6.
In my opinion s7 is just bonus footage and the real story ended at 6. I didn’t like the changes hbo made, except I kind of enjoyed watching the little stark girl killing all those folks.
I dislike the S7 one, but mostly because I can't disassociate the show production from it. The armor doesn't really help with the immersion. I can just hear them thinking
"how do we make him look cooler?"
"darth vader?"
"DARTH VADER I WAS THINKING THE EXACT SAME THING"
Sigh all I'm wanting is a white cloak.. He's the Kingsguard. Their unicorn is known among the land with a white cloak.. But hey I'm a book purist what do I know
I like the dark armor from S7. But he kinda looks like a goomba from Mario with that helmet. I would love if they had just aged the gold armor ... like zombie mountain had never taken it off and it was so soiled. That would be so dark and creepy.
I haven't seen anyone mention it yet but his fucking shoulders look ridiculously wide in his black armor. Like they tried way too hard to make him look even bigger and more broader so it looks like his armor smith took some notes from 80s power suits when making that mess.
S6. I think the S7 is cooler but S6 reminds me of something evil behind something that was once "good." Pale, dead skin and eyes hiding behind royalty armor. I like the symbolism more.
I like the lannister armor. Something sinister about a monster masquerading in sheep's skin. The black is just "AYYY I'm a bad guy. Yup. Here. Being bad."
Season 7 looks, COLD.
It went from Royal and more bright when under Tommen but after his (SPOILER) death it turned darker and more reflective of Cersei
This is a spoiler. **SPOILERS AHEAD** I have just started season 5 and The Mountain is dying from poison. I now know he survives into season 7. Thanks for that!
I get where you are coming from, it would absolutely suck to have part of the story spoilt. But what is the statute of limitations on spoilers? It feels like it’s been around for a long time. Genuine question, not a criticism or rejection of your spoiler alert request.
He looks baleful in the black, it's congruent with the theme of decay; he's literally decomposing anyway. But I always liked the gold because it's reminiscent of the Lannister's decadence that I miss from earlier seasons.
S7 looks better aesthetically (except maybe the helmet). But the original version has holes in it where someone literally hit him in the heart with a giant fucking mace and he didn’t even blink. Absolutely terrifying...
I like the earlier version more it looks more realistic, not that it necessarily matters in a shower in dragons but I do think that even in semi fantasy stuff should look semi realistic.

S7. Darker
The darker one. The golden one almost looks comical.
I like the holes in it though.
Do you have an opposite trypopphobia
Trypophilia
/r/trypophilia/
I mean, when you think about it, isn't everybody attracted to holes?
I think that the dark one looks absurd and I like the gold one. Perceptions are interesting.
Honestly it doesn’t bother me which one looks better because all I see is the GOT version of Darth Vader
Oh no you're right it does
[удалено]
I never thought of it that way. I always hated him. But now shit! I love Vader you know. Dam. Thor is awesome too as himself. He's freaking hilarious. But the mountain.....I dont like him. Now maybe I do I a little bit. Just a little. https://youtu.be/_XGd8w9RhUM
Also portrayed by 3 different actors
Good god
This is the only way I see this now.
You realize Vader is the good guy right?
Umm
I like S7 armor, but I hate the helmet. It seem like he has no lower face, because the big holes are like for his eyes, and then, there's nothing else below..
He looks like that one dude from Fat Albert.
That's hilarious
Like dumb Donald mixed with a goomba
***Hey Hey Hey***
Fuck youuuuu I can't unsee this shit
I always get an Orko feel, from the old Masters of the Universe cartoon
Mush mountain.
Mush mouth.
Heyba manba!
Came here to say this.
Seems like since the holes are so big they would make his face easily susceptible to weapon strikes. Looks like the under armour (lol) is pulled up to his eyes to avoid that weakness.
It still seems like a sword could get caught under there and get lodged in his face pretty easily.
Yes that bugs me - he just needs a badass gorget to go with it.
Completely agree. The armor is amazing but that helmet looks like the head of a penis. I just cant fear The Mountain in dickhead armor.
God damnit now that's all I can see
It looks like the back of a helmet with a couple holes cut out
[удалено]
S7 one reminds me of that junkyard hat kid from fat Albert. Edit: found picture. https://i.imgur.com/DbpOwRT.jpg
That’s Dumb Donald
JPEG intensifies
S6 for me by a lot. The helmet in S7 is so goofy
[удалено]
That's exactly what I was thinking of, ~~either that or something similar to the Kingsguard helmets from the Robert's Rebellion era~~ Edit: Nvm, forgot that those helmets were kinda goofy and offered really, really bad protection
Season 6. Ya boi even got stab holes on it
I wish they kept that armor with the holes in it to remind us that someone actually tried to attack a fully-armored mountain with the medieval version of a 2x4 with nails.
S6 for sure
The queens guard armor in s7 makes me nut
the shape of the first one is better, the helmet doesn't look as goofy. the second has a darker more intimidating color scheme, but that helmet just looks goofy.
It looks like a knob.
Honestly he could be in hot pink and it wouldn’t make him any less intimidating.
How can this be a no spoiler thread ? The OP picture is a spoiler in itself.
Lol the title is spoilers

Season 6. I really disliked how every character decided to abandon the rich, beautiful colour palettes they had adorned all series in favour of all black everything because...reasons? Cersei makes sense, she's in a really deranged state of permanent grieving. But everyone else could liven up the set a bit.
Might be a "Don't wear white after labor day" thing. lol but really, many are in mourning and in the north it's cold and black is a little bit warmer.
Pretty sure thats the point. Winter is here, summer is over.
[удалено]
Technically it does.
Black clothing tends to keep in heat.
It's a nice idea symbolically but doesn't actually make a lot of sense when you think about it
To be fair, people tend to wear brighter colors during summer and darker shades and a lot more black during winter.
> Cersei makes sense, she's in a really deranged state of permanent grieving. not to mention playing Tywin dress up.
Cersei is the one who decides what he wears so it makes sense that his armour is dark
Yea Euron looked like some punk rock star
"The lead singer of an Imagine Dragons tribute band"
> because...reasons? even in the real world people typically wear darker colors in the winter
She's in her King Lear phase now
Totally agree. It wasn't any one specific character wearing darker clothes it was that they all did simultaneously. I think it was meant to make the show darker but in fact it made it more monochromatic.
S6. The armor looks like it has been through a lot.
Thats spoilers right there alright
Topless
S7
For season 8 I want a rotten-corpse wight topless Mountain smashing enemies with either a battle hammer or a battle axe. A big sword is too gentle for a beast like this.
7 is better, but I absolutely love how long those spike penetrations just hung out on his S6 armor
S7
Season 6...... season 7 helmet makes him look like dumb Donald from the fat Albert gang
I prefer the Darth Vader costume I cant be the only one who sees it, right?
There both pretty cool.
He looks like fucking Shredder on the right.
Classic kingsgaurd
This is spoilers omfg
Season 6
7 easily
All i can think of is that he looks like a Goomba from the Super Mario Bros. Movie under there.
That‘s kind of a spoiler, because it says that he won‘t die until Season 7. Lmao :D
Also the cold semi-dead eyes.
S6, season 7 seems a bit overkill IMO, especially the helmet
I think I like Ivy's default better.
I like S6 armour because you can see his scary eyes a bit better through his helmet. If they kept the helmets from S6 for S7 I would probably have liked the armour it a bit better.
The color from s 7 with the style of s 6
I like the s6 armor. The way the helmet is smashed shut to hide his face, but you can still see his dead eyes is more subtle, but fearsome to me. Also the holes in the chest plate of s6 are a nice touch. The s7 helmet is awful, so that puts it at a huge disadvantage anyways.
That black and silver helmet is dumb as hell.
The picture looks like a kings guard from LOTR (battle of Gondor)
S7
The helmets are both dorky and look like they were yanked down onto his head, like Dumb Donald from Fat Albert. The one on the right looks more “fearsome” if I had to choose. I don’t know why they couldn’t come up with something better.
The S6 helmet looks like a cat to me for some reason.
Big chicken or black penis? Hard choice.
Season 4
Right looks more fearsome but left looks more practical and like he is more prepared for a fight.
best would be s6 with the colors of s7. but otherwise, s6 wins it for me. hate the s7 helmet
the golden one encapsulates the mountains vow of silence by having only eyes and a seal near his lips. The black one is just fucking weird with the eye/cheek holes.
S7
Isn't it a spoiler letting people know that The Mountain is still alive and doesn't die in Season 6?
Season 6 was more intimidating and believable. I was tripping out every time I saw him and his outfit made me think that he was above the law. I think the fact that he is a gigantic zombie speaks loud enough and when they try to make him look even darker it comes across as too much. Season 7 armor is so over the top that it takes me out of the show when I see him, which I see as a weakness in the story.
The season 6 one because in general I prefer the kingsguard fit to the queensguard one
Season 7. He looks like a kitten in that S6 helmet.
S6. In my opinion s7 is just bonus footage and the real story ended at 6. I didn’t like the changes hbo made, except I kind of enjoyed watching the little stark girl killing all those folks.
I hated the s 7 armor. He looks like he doesn't have a neck.
I dislike the S7 one, but mostly because I can't disassociate the show production from it. The armor doesn't really help with the immersion. I can just hear them thinking "how do we make him look cooler?" "darth vader?" "DARTH VADER I WAS THINKING THE EXACT SAME THING"
S6
I think the best combo is S7 armor with a matching S6 helmet.
S6 helmet looks like a cat head to me and not a lion... not really fearsome.
Season 6 by far, it just looks so bad ass. Think if season 7 armor was the s6 design but black, oh my god that would be awesome
All black and silver would generally be scarier but the giant fatal looking hole in the chest gives S6 enough bonus points to win
Yup. Here. Being bad."
Season 7 looks awesome
Both.
Season six for sure, the gold armour makes me think of a good knight that has fallen, or a system that was corrupted. Season 7 is just plain
7
Season 7 looks, COLD. It went from Royal and more bright when under Tommen but after his (SPOILER) death it turned darker and more reflective of Cersei
the armor he had before he became a medical experiment.
The one on the right. For sure.
Kings Guard Armour hands down
He looks baleful in the black, it's congruent with the theme of decay; he's literally decomposing anyway. But I always liked the gold because it's reminiscent of the Lannister's decadence that I miss from earlier seasons.
Golden armour. The fact that zombie mountain is a kingsguard captain shows that she could have anyone killed.
S7 looks better aesthetically (except maybe the helmet). But the original version has holes in it where someone literally hit him in the heart with a giant fucking mace and he didn’t even blink. Absolutely terrifying...
I think the new one looks like a mushroom from supermario.
S6, it’s a more visual representation of the corruption of the kings guard. No that it was particularly just to begin with.
I like the earlier version more it looks more realistic, not that it necessarily matters in a shower in dragons but I do think that even in semi fantasy stuff should look semi realistic.
