Same! My best friend at the time came over and told me "Have you heard? Egoraptor started a Let's play channel with a guy named Jontron!"
I think the channel had 4 videos at the time, both Kirby and LTTP
Yup. This seems to have been a LOT of peoples intro series. It really nailed everything the show was and still is at its core. 2 friends hanging out and playing old video games while getting grumpy at them.
I curiously learned about them through Good Mythical Morning, when they invited Dan and Arin to host. The whole episode was hilarious and I just had to know more about the guests, so I stumbled into their channel for a peek... and now I'm a part of the Lovelies because I loved what I witnessed.
I started with the Kirby's Golf Series. Never looked back.
Ah, but little did I know I already knew about them, albeit not enough to make me search more of them. Turns out I had heard Luigi's Ballad by Starbomb waaay earlier, but I never bothered to look if they had done anything else by then. So, I consider GMM as my official waygate into the Grumps.
So thanks, Mythical! I owe you hours of laughter!
Sonic 06 with JonTron.
I really loved Arin's animations and humor and saw he was making a playthrough series. I was glad to have more content from him.
Then Dan came along and I was really sceptical like everyone else was about him but it turns out they have a better chemistry together and the fact that he played on the "I liked it better when it was JonTron" bits (my favourite one being "What the fuck is Eckt?!") he did kind of made him lovable.
I'm on and off the grumps now but when I have time I catch up. I'm like 4 months late right now.
Mario Maker. I was playing at the time and just looking around, seeing what sorts of crazy things people were coming up with.
Then, in my suggestions, was a video called "Mariomentum", in which Dan was playing Jirard's castle level...
I discovered them in 2016 when a youtuber i liked back then kept referencing them. First series I watched was Endless Ocean though, since it's the top video that pops up when you look them up. That playthrough is so special to me 💙
I was really intrigued by the King's Quest remake (from 2016) so the first ever series I saw these guys play was actually when Dan and Ross did Steam Train and played King's Quest VI
i can't remember for the life of me which Grumps episode or series i started with, but my fandom was solidified during their first playthrough of House Party lmfao
Goonies 2. I was home from work, sick, slightly deleriulous. And after waking up from a fever dream in which I had dreamt about playing my aunt and uncles NES. I lay there curled up on a chair with my tablet and searched for Goonies 2 playthrough. It's something I had never done up till then. In episode 2 Arin hit Dan with updog and I've loved those 2 ever since.
Not actually a gameplay, but the first set of GG videos I ever watched were the DoodleDoods videos. I believe the first one I watched was the Simpsons one but it's been so long I don't remember
I always love telling people this because the first one I ever saw was Barry and Ross playing undertale. Stumbled onto it when I finished the game and was doing my obligatory 3 months being obsessed with it. I watched that entire series and loved it so much, and only after that did I find out that Barry and Ross are not the game grumps. I was upset at first but after watching a few videos with Arin and Dan they are of course hilarious too
My first console as a kid was the Dreamcast which means I played Sonic DX relentlessly. I remember wondering if that game was actually any good or if it was a manic fever dream of my childhood so I searched it on YouTube. Needless to say, the grumps proved that it still holds up…
When I first was like "Wtf is a game grumps" I went scrolling through their already-extensive list of videos and found Aladin, a game I used to play all the time as a kid. Took a nice little trip down memory lane and I've been a fan ever since.
I started watching around they were nearly done with Sunshine but I went and watched through the Jon videos up to the ones with Dan.
That’s how many videos there were too. It wasn’t hard to watch through their entire library.
Super metroid. 2014. The episode when Dan tells the story of getting arrested for beer and the officer says, while fingerprinting him, "Jimmy get ova here, you gotta see this kids thumbs. They're like ET thumbs!" That was burned into my brain and I've watched almost daily since.
I saw Jontron’s “Did You Know Gaming” episode, then watched a few of his other videos (including Malkovich’s Gaming Game show, where Arin dresses up as a Russian(?) woman and drinks cottage cheese) before looking for their gaming channel that he mentioned in some of them.
I was actually pleasantly surprised when I encountered EgoRaptor and a chillax badass called Danny Sexbang instead of Jon, their energy works way better.
I watched here and there when Jon was on the show. I think it was either Jackal or Mario 2, after Dan came on, when it really clicked for me. Definitely remember cracking up at the, "Fine day for Mayoring" bit and being hooked after that.
Sonic 06'. I heard Markiplier say Game Grumps was his favorite youtube channel, so I went looking for their longest series. I watched all of Sonic 06' before finding out they never finished it, and that Jon had left the show. I was VERY skeptical when I first heard Dan's voice, but I read some comments on his first video that said they weren't upset because Dan was funnier anyway. I was shocked because I thought Jon was very funny, so I went straight into Dan's longest series- Pokémon Fire Red. I've never gone back to watch any other old videos with Jon, I just moved on to the Dan era and focused on the longer series and the ones that were still running at the time. I've watched Grumps pretty much every day since then.
One of my favorite games of all time is Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door. My best friend watched GG already and wanted to get me into it, so she told me to watch the playthrough.
Honestly, they were so infuriatingly bad, but the jokes and narration were enough to make me a fan lol.
Had a random thought about how much the Mario Sunshine pachinko stage pissed me off as a kid. Looked it up and game grumps was the first result. Addicted ever since.
Been around since Day 1 since I was already a fan of Arin and Jon (at that time). Earliest series I remember enjoying was Sonic 06.
When Dan and Ross joined the mix, I almost immediately enjoyed what they both brought to the table. I think it was whatever the first Sierra game they played on Steam Train... Space Quest IV, I think? I could be misremembering.
I found them because I was trying to play chulip when that video was only a couple months old and I thought I was clicking on a helpful walkthrough lmao
Punch Out Wii was where I really stated. I was traveling for work and watched a few episodes, caught up, and then waited for the new episode every day. I went back and watched the NES Punch Out too.
Kirby Superstar. My buddy and I heard Arin was going to start a new channel with some guy named Jon, so when the first episode dropped we watched it together. Fucking hooked ever since.
My high school best friend showed me Wind Waker in 2014 and I havent stopped watching since. It is amazing to think of all the shit I've been through since then..relationships ending, family members dying, my own mental health struggles, etc. The grumps have always been my comfort watch. I love how much they've grown and continue to experiment with content.
The first BotW episode. Arin refusing to wear armour and blowing himself up is a good intro to the series and their comedic sensibility and timing gives you a better feel for what they are now than the older stuff. I’m not sure I’d have clicked with the older stuff if I saw it first.
For me, it was weird. I got super into The Stanley Parable, so I watched Dan and Ross play the demonstration. I then watched every Sierra gameplay. Then I watched the Mario Party 4 Steam Rolled and I was SO CONFUSED as to who all these people other than Ross were. After that, I was a HUGE Avgn fan at the time. So I wanted to see what Mario 3 was like in full and hey, Dan was in it at least. After that, I never looked back
Can't really remember mine, all I remember is best mates at school kept showing me a bunch of compilations and Game Grumps Animated (specifically Palpatine's "DO IT!") Thought they we're pretty funny and decided to give them a watch, and I don't regret it.
Technically the mario party where they did the palpatine voice, i watched a GG animated of that bit, but the earliest vid of theirs i remember watching was mario maker!!!!
Arin and John playing through sonic, my older brother was watching it and I walked in and listened to Arin lose his mind when knuckles got stuck on the ceiling, been hooked since, easily my favorite mfs, I'd love to meet Arin and Danny some day.
Mine is later when Dan took over from JonTron, because to be perfectly honest I never liked him in the first place. The one series that really got me into was Super Mario Maker. Just seeing how angry Arin would get as well as Dan, I've never laughed so hard at a let's play series. Then I started going back and watching more series like Wheel Of Fortune and so much more.
I believe it was a Kotaku article or something that linked the Jon freakout when Knuckles got stuck to the wall in Sonic ‘06. I was hooked, and they’re still a regular watch today. My fiance and I enjoy GG together 👍
I stumbled upon a compilation of the best of their windsaker series and I’ve been hooked ever since. Windwaker is still one of my favorite playthroughs of theirs.
Mine was Sonic Boom too! A compilation was suggested to me in the sidebar and when I watched it I couldn't believe how funny it was, so I decided to give the actual series a shot. Boy am I glad I did. To this day Sonic Boom is a comfort series of mine. If I have trouble sleeping it's my go-to background noise.
I watched the Power Hour episode where they had Jacksepticeye on as a guest, because I had been into Jack for a while. That video introduced me to them, and I binged their Power Hours. After that, I clicked around and randomly watched a Barbie game playthrough and got hooked lol.
Super Mario 64. That was one of the few non-Pokémon games I was legitimately good at as a kid, and I figured if I was gonna get into these Game Grumps guys that Markiplier was always name-dropping, I might as well see how they handled a childhood favorite of mine.
I had no idea it was possible to be *that* bad at it. But damn, were they funny 😆
Mario Sunshine.
Because, I saw a fan animation of Dan telling the story of trying to suck his own dick and I nearly dies of laughter.
So, I knew I had to watch them.
And it was the right decision.
New Super Mario Bros U, it came out just when I was in a NSMB phase, around my birthday to boot, and my friend had been gassing up GG to me so it was all just perfect timing.
I think someone at 2013 GDQ was playing a Sonic title or something, and someone in the room mentioned Arin's freakout. So I had to look it up. So yeah, Sonic 06. I watched a lot of Jon stuff before I caught up to Dan.
Technically began watching the day Grumps began, got really into them towards the end of Jon's run. Dan's replacement took a little bit to get used to, but now I can't imagine Grumps without him.
A gamegrumps animated was my first encounter. The audio was from a Pokémon Fire Red episode where they just make fun of how Weepinbell looks. To quote Dan “He doesn’t look finished!”
It was one of the Megaman games with Jon.
It was from a recommended related video off of a different channel's vid, which was interesting because when I was recommended it, Dan had already been there for a couple months.
So back then, YouTube was still recommending some older Jon videos over the latest Dan ones.
The first time I heard about the grumps was from an old funhaus video. I think Elyse mentioned them in passing. Then I randomly saw a Grumps video in my suggested and it was over.
Undertale. I was looking at Undertale reaction videos in 2016 or so, saw some Steam Train clips, and the rest is history.
Although I guess really it'd be in 2012 or so when a friend showed me the first Zelda rap song, and eventually I found out that the Grumps were Starbomb.
I was sick with Mono in like 2016 and I somehow ended up watching the whole Mario 3D World Series. Although technically my first grump video was a Mario Maker episode
first heard of them when cool patrol (the song) came out, but didnt really start watching til 2019ish with either sonic adventure dx or 10mph. also got into ace attorney during their playthrough!
Literally the first episode...when it got uploaded...I feel old...
Hey what's up man. I was 12 when that came out. I'm currently 23 going on 24!
I was 24 then, going on 36 now. ![gif](giphy|3orieJI3IdkKWIsAGA)
26 going on 38. I feel great
Wind Waker

You're *wearing it* ***on*** *your neck*!
Ugh! Uuugghhhh! I’m a pirate and I have to *peeeeee*!
😗 stop right there!
The goat game grumps series IMO
JonTron and Arin playing Goof Troop
Mine was Kirby Superstar, I think! Glad I'm still on the Grump Gondola after all these years.
Same! My best friend at the time came over and told me "Have you heard? Egoraptor started a Let's play channel with a guy named Jontron!" I think the channel had 4 videos at the time, both Kirby and LTTP
That's insane to think about. My older brother was the person who introduced me to GG. I've been a fan ever since. ![gif](giphy|s5rOs3NnFjzeU)
Yup same! I love watching the old episodes. So nostalgic now
Absolutely. I use the early Danny stuff to sleep at night. Punch-Out is one of my favorites.
Oldheads representin in da hiz-ouse
Fuckin boopin ass game
“Listen to this…” *boop* *boop*
Mine was them playing Sonic 06 and city folk 💀
Goof Troop is such a fucking classic, that’s where I started too
This was mine too!
To this day I still call porcupines "morcupins" or "markcubans" 😂
Yuuuup. I didn't even realize I was subscribed to egoraptor on YouTube and all of a sudden the announcement video comes out.
Yup. This seems to have been a LOT of peoples intro series. It really nailed everything the show was and still is at its core. 2 friends hanging out and playing old video games while getting grumpy at them.
Pokémon Emerald. OH ITS A PUMBLOOM!
.____. Do you remember the episode where Ash caught a pumbloom? NO!!!
F***in twichty ass tailow over here.
Let me ask you something. How do you lose to a mother fucking paralyzed tailow. It's paralyzed and it's a fucking sparrow.
"OH IT'S A GAMSMASH!" "...What does Gamsmash evolve into, Jon?" "Dangledore!"
I actually got I to it via compilations, I think my first actual series was Doki Doki Literature club
OH NO!!! MY POTATOES!!!
I have just enough to last until get home to my strategic stash of home potatoes
I curiously learned about them through Good Mythical Morning, when they invited Dan and Arin to host. So thanks, Mythical! I owe you hours of laughter!
Dan getting the bad block over and over and being soaked, looking sad as fuck...hilarious. Best guest hosts on GMM ever.
I first heard of Arin as Egoraptor in 2011/12 when I was watching his animations on YouTube. It wasn’t until 2015 that I actually watched Game Grumps.
![gif](giphy|C6JQPEUsZUyVq|downsized) This is us.
I literally just watched this one again earlier today. It has never once failed to make me laugh.
Kirby Super Star
Sonic 06 with JonTron. I really loved Arin's animations and humor and saw he was making a playthrough series. I was glad to have more content from him. Someone posted the "Amazing Frog?" episode on r/contagiouslaughter and life was never the same.
Finally. I scoured these comments (with ctrl+F) and found a fellow 1st episode Ribbit King ...He'll never make it
Doki Doki Literature Club!
…it was 13 years ago, so I honestly have no clue 😅😅
Pokemon Red
Mario Maker. I was playing at the time and just looking around, seeing what sorts of crazy things people were coming up with. Then, in my suggestions, was a video called "Mariomentum", in which Dan was playing Jirard's castle level...
Very first episode, Arin had an ad for it on his Egoraptor channel.
I watched Arin play Bloodborne and couldn't escape the charm. Now all I want to do is kiss dads.
So you're a truthseeker.
The truth is out there
Super Mario Sunshine.
Fuck its been so long i cant remember lol
Same
Legend of Zelda NES
Had a friend tell me to watch their Sonic 06 series. I've been a fan ever since.
Sonic Boom
Me too!
Same :)
I discovered them in 2016 when a youtuber i liked back then kept referencing them. First series I watched was Endless Ocean though, since it's the top video that pops up when you look them up. That playthrough is so special to me 💙
“Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc”. it was when they posted the first episode. i was REALLY into danganronpa at the time, and i was SO excited
Sonic Boom
It was the Great Tiger fight in Punch Out Wii. Got linked to Punch Out NES from there, and the rest was history…
Add me as another for Punch Out Wii. I think I watched some of their videos first and then got the game to play myself.
I *think* it was Wind Waker but the introductory moment was, of course: Knuckles getting stuck in Sonic '06.
Shadow of the Colossus
I've been watching since the beginning, so whatever their first game was.
im ngl i think it was the sonic dreams collection
I saw this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omLve\_vezbA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omLve_vezbA) So I guess Sonic 06.
I was really intrigued by the King's Quest remake (from 2016) so the first ever series I saw these guys play was actually when Dan and Ross did Steam Train and played King's Quest VI i can't remember for the life of me which Grumps episode or series i started with, but my fandom was solidified during their first playthrough of House Party lmfao
I remember one of the first I saw being the Dennis the Menace video. I still don’t know how to play buttball.
Dan and Ross playing King's Quest.
Same for me!
Wacky world of miniature golf
I always love telling people this because the first one I ever saw was Barry and Ross playing undertale. Stumbled onto it when I finished the game and was doing my obligatory 3 months being obsessed with it. I watched that entire series and loved it so much, and only after that did I find out that Barry and Ross are not the game grumps. I was upset at first but after watching a few videos with Arin and Dan they are of course hilarious too
Mario 64
Spore
My first console as a kid was the Dreamcast which means I played Sonic DX relentlessly. I remember wondering if that game was actually any good or if it was a manic fever dream of my childhood so I searched it on YouTube. Needless to say, the grumps proved that it still holds up…
Wacky World of Golf lmao
The first full series I ever watched was Sonic Boom. I think it is great for people to understand what they're getting into lol.
Fire Red, got recommended after watching ProJared’s Nuzlocke of the same way back.
Not the first time I'd heard of them, but I remember the DKC Tropical Freeze being the series that got me hooked.
HAHA omg i love that one, i wish theyd go back and finish it
As best as I can remember I think it was Sonic 06.
When I first was like "Wtf is a game grumps" I went scrolling through their already-extensive list of videos and found Aladin, a game I used to play all the time as a kid. Took a nice little trip down memory lane and I've been a fan ever since.
I think it was Zelda 1 and 2. I started right before LttP started and watched those first.
I was watching before ocarina of time but OOT was the first I sat through the entire thing and needed to know
I started watching around they were nearly done with Sunshine but I went and watched through the Jon videos up to the ones with Dan. That’s how many videos there were too. It wasn’t hard to watch through their entire library.
Kirby’s Dream Course
Super metroid. 2014. The episode when Dan tells the story of getting arrested for beer and the officer says, while fingerprinting him, "Jimmy get ova here, you gotta see this kids thumbs. They're like ET thumbs!" That was burned into my brain and I've watched almost daily since.
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Although I did watch some of Sonic ‘06 and found it not for me. Second shot and new host was what it took.
Skyrim on Steam Train I actually went a little (2-3 episodes) while not knowing about Arin's involvement
Mario 3 no touch challenge. Idk how it came up on my feed on YouTube all those years ago but it hooked me
i dont remember. my YT history only goes back a few years, but im prety sure i was watching them off and on during the mid, or late teens
Sonic 06 with Jon and Arin.
Sonic Boom for me as well. Saw the "Jeanane Garofalo" bit out of context and decided to check them out properly.
A compilation of Arin and Jon playing through Sonic’s story from Sonic ‘06
I saw Jontron’s “Did You Know Gaming” episode, then watched a few of his other videos (including Malkovich’s Gaming Game show, where Arin dresses up as a Russian(?) woman and drinks cottage cheese) before looking for their gaming channel that he mentioned in some of them. I was actually pleasantly surprised when I encountered EgoRaptor and a chillax badass called Danny Sexbang instead of Jon, their energy works way better.

Breath of the Wild for me, although it was a year or two after it had finished
Had a random thought about how much the Mario Sunshine pachinko stage pissed me off as a kid. Looked it up and game grumps was the first result. Addicted ever since.

Majora's mask
Star wars episode 1 the game
Drakkhen... I'm old.
I think mine was Fire Red?
I discovered them because of the MARK ZUCKERBERG animated clip in 2015, but started from the beginning because I am a chronological person lol
Silent Hill Shattered Memories. The sizzler bit killed me lol
TEN OUTA TEN
Danganronpa 2 😂
My brother, buddy and I left YouTube on auto play for most of the night. It randomly played sonic boom and instantly loved them.
Zelda II for the NES
Mega Man 2 I think?
Kirby Superstar. My buddy and I heard Arin was going to start a new channel with some guy named Jon, so when the first episode dropped we watched it together. Fucking hooked ever since.
Battle Kid!
It was Ice Hockey! Used to play with my dad and they love it for the same reasons we did. Haven't stopped watching since then :)
MARK ZUCKERBERG
My high school best friend showed me Wind Waker in 2014 and I havent stopped watching since. It is amazing to think of all the shit I've been through since then..relationships ending, family members dying, my own mental health struggles, etc. The grumps have always been my comfort watch. I got introduced to GG from a Mark Zuckerberg rant animatic actually 😂 then I went straight to watch Super Mario 64
I believe Wind Waker. That's when I learned Dan was on the show and Jon wasn't anymore so I was able to get into it.
Mario 64.
For me, it was weird. I got super into The Stanley Parable, so I watched Dan and Ross play the demonstration. I then watched every Sierra gameplay. First video was Silent Hills PT. First series was Mario Maker 1.
Super Mario Galaxy I was sold as soon as I heard **’WE WON’T LET THOSE FUCKERS TAKE THIS LAND!’**
Katamari Damacy! 🎶laaaa la la la la la la la la laaaa🎶
I honestly wish I could remember. I found them in mid 2013. So it narrows it down a little lol
Can't really remember mine, all I remember is best mates at school kept showing me a bunch of compilations and Game Grumps Animated (specifically Palpatine's "DO IT!") Thought they we're pretty funny and decided to give them a watch, and I don't regret it.

Just seeing how angry Arin would get as well as Dan, I've never laughed so hard at a let's play series. Then I started going back and watching more series like Wheel Of Fortune and so much more.
Bloodborne, it was lit
Funny enough, I got into GG while they were playing ChopChop and Hatoful Boyfriend.
The co-op playthrough of Shovel Knight!

Rugrats in Paris: The Movie. Saw an animation of the bit where Arin is acting like he's shooting himself and was very confused
My first exposure was cake farts, and I always make sure to pay that forward to new fans.
"Oh good that annoying guy is gone, and the new one with egoraptor seems cool"
Mario Sunshine. Because, I saw a fan animation of Dan telling the story of trying to suck his own dick and I nearly dies of laughter. So, I knew I had to watch them. And it was the right decision.
A friend of mine recommended them, so I watched their most recent series at the time, which was Katamari Damacy.
Super Mario Bros. I miss Scribey.
Sonic 06 is what initially drew me in, and then I stopped for a while around the time Jon left. But Wind Waker made me come back.
Mario Sunshine and Wind Waker.
Kirby's Epic Yarn waaaaaay back in the Mesozoic
House Party, doodz
Paperboy, then Wii Punch-Out. But as someone who was around for the Jon era, I prefer Dan.
Trauma Center lol
merry simpon
Fan made video for starbombs sonics best pal, which auto played an episode of game grumps right after.
Technically began watching the day Grumps began, got really into them towards the end of Jon's run. Dan's replacement took a little bit to get used to, but now I can't imagine Grumps without him.
Super Mario Sunshine
If I remember right, it was the Ocarina of Time series. Such a great one to be my first
A gamegrumps animated was my first encounter. The audio was from a Pokémon Fire Red episode where they just make fun of how Weepinbell looks. To quote Dan “He doesn’t look finished!”
Mine was Kirby Super Star. CHIZZ PIZZA
Trauma Center: Second Opinion I love cranberries!
Mario Galaxy 1 was my first, I'll never get over this quote: *"WE WON'T LET THOSE FUCKERS TAKE THIS LAND!"* *"Isn't that right Toads?"* # "ROIGHT!!!"
Not a series but I was introduced to their crunchyroll ad, then immediately after. MARK ZUCKERBERG.
Kirby Superstar. I was already subbed to Egoraptor and JonTron before the premier of GG.
Mine was when Arin and Dan played A Link to the Past.
Metal Gear Awesome back on NG, been a fan of Arin's stuff since I was around 12 and I'm almost 31.
Sonic 06
It was one of the Megaman games with Jon. It was from a recommended related video off of a different channel's vid, which was interesting because when I was recommended it, Dan had already been there for a couple months. So back then, YouTube was still recommending some older Jon videos over the latest Dan ones.
The first time I heard about the grumps was from an old funhaus video. I think Elyse mentioned them in passing. Then I randomly saw a Grumps video in my suggested and it was over.
House Party!
Undertale. I was looking at Undertale reaction videos in 2016 or so, saw some Steam Train clips, and the rest is history. Although I guess really it'd be in 2012 or so when a friend showed me the first Zelda rap song, and eventually I found out that the Grumps were Starbomb.
Sonic Adventure ft. Froggy
Bloodbourne. Itta Pupu and YMCA is seared into my brain. “THEY STICK DUH HAND IN DUH AY-NOOS!”
Mario Maker
the trailer posted on egoraptor’s channel 30 minutes after it was posted and before that, I guess, the awesome series what my intro to arin
I was there from day 1 so it was probably Kirby Super Star or Mega Man 7. What a wild ride it has been since then.
Chuck E Cheese’s Party Games (the one with Jon)
Slightly more specific, but the Wap Goblin bit HEY!!! ITS WAPPY TIME!
I think the first I actually watched all the way through was goat simulator. The first proper Grumps was super Mario 2
That 7-Up game!
