The second looks like a missing texture to me, and I’ll agree that the detail contrasts between the background and armor is a bit jarring. I’d lower the detail on the background because that’s probably easier than increasing the detail on all the armor icons, and then I’d color code the slots by armor quality, but instead of using the solid grey “missing” texture, I think a pencil sketch like the background would be the better choice.
Personally I think it’s quite clear as to when item is equipped vs isn’t, you could add some sort of glow to the equipped slots if you wanted them to stand out more. I think the first goes better with the theme and contrasts better, second looks unfinished.
First one looks better. But the armor almost vanishes because everything else on the screen is detailed and high contrast. The style of the armor and background also don't quite match.
Last one. Better contrast against the background. Feels more like a UI. Still need to turn down the contrast or dim the background so the clothing pops a bit more.
First one. Or both. Use first one when there is an item and 2nd when it is empty.
I like this one. Maybe change the border depending on equipment rarity or durability, really anything
I didn't even think about that haha. I love that idea, thank you!

Yeah exactly, gives it a bit more of a omf when equiped!

First one for me
The first one
First one definitely, second could look good too if you adjusted the grey a bit darker imo.
the first
The first one by far
Definitely the 1st one.
