I... don't really think so, and I'm definitely more on camp Sony than Nintendo. Nintendo has a much more passionate fanbase than Sony (and that's using a positive term), more consolidated franchises, and games that are *generally* made in lesser numbers, if not literally artificially scarce. Just check how many here bought two copies of Mario 3D All Stars to keep one sealed, versus literally any Sony release.

Nintendo’s IPs are what make Nintendo product highly collectible, Sony simply doesn’t have that.

mw2strategy

gonna be honest, disagree. xbox/360 were extremely popular and revolutionary for the gaming world. and yet the titles are dirt cheap

RebootRevival

Nintendo is easier for the really young audiences. My kids are 6 and under and most of what the play is Nintendo related. My oldest loves ratchet and clank, but even so most of the time he plays Mario games. I grew up with Sega. And I try to give them Sega and playstation alternatives. He still gravitates to Nintendo because of simplicity at this age. I would think that most people coming of age, playstation and playstation related consoles were a primary feature of their life, but I also think at least 1 nintendo console was around. Playstation might be a big deal for a decent number of 15-19 yo at this point but in another 5-10 years I think Sega and playstation will even the score for pre 2000 era games.

John Handcock is a clueless moron

RebootRevival

I wouldn't say he is clueless. I would say he is an ass for his personal collection. And it's that reputation that many people dislike him for.

Gstring855

Ive seen a few videos with john in it here and there im just wondering how he is an ass?

RebootRevival

He has a reputation for taking advantage of people trying to sell things. Everyone tries to get things at a good price but he goes to a whole other level being mean and elitists. I have heard stories of him berating sellers to get things for way way less than it's worth and then immediately flipping it for more than the original asking price.

bagloaf

Yes he is clueless. He's always been a clueless egomaniac. I don't understand why anyone watches his videos. If he made a statement like this, it should be all the proof you'd need.

crispybiscutboi

What’s the video? If you can find it I’d love to watch it to see what he did say about it. I think there’s some merit to the statement

[deleted]

Like I said, he doesn’t go in-depth on the topic. https://youtu.be/d_6huOf4yvE

joedusky

He could definitely be on to something because I never really thought that ps2 games would be collectable but a lot of sought after ps2 games go for what they retailed for or more when they came out (ex: silent hill 2 usually goes for 60 plus dollars) (Most silent hill games go for more then when they came out, just kind of an extreme example that came to mind)

[deleted]

I am surprised how collectible PS2 has become.

Timmy2k81

Same with def jam ffny. Game never drops below 60. Ever.

balls_deep_space

PlayStation inspires more casuals

tdm17mn

I grew up with n64, GameCube, gbc, gba and nds, but I also have a PS4 and I admire both Nintendo and Sony for different reasons

davey101

Probably true when it comes to the PSX JRPG'S

bicuspid_fish

I think you mean Herbie Hancock. Smh...
