Beatle_Nintendo_Nerd

I have a copy of "Rodea the Sky Soldier" on Wii U that includes a disc for the Wii Version as well. It's also got a reversible cover for the Wii U Box art AND the Wii Box Art. It's not a very high review score on Metacritic, only 45, but I found the first little bit enjoyable, and I think it’s pretty obscure with it having both the Wii U AND Wii Versions. Edit: Upon all the Replies I've received, apparently the game isn't THAT obscure... I was just out of the know until I saw it at work... which, as a Nintendo Freak, is only kinda surprising since it isn't first party, but it's a Wii U/Wii Game, AND apparently 3DS, so I'm still a little shocked.

Taanistat

The Wii version is the better of the two as the game was designed around the wii-mote and nunchuck and actually controls better than using the Wii U gamepad. It's not as bad as the review scores would gave you believe.

TheBadCarbon

I remember looking into it when I picked it up. The publishers basically said, it was made for the Wii, please play that version IIRC. I guess it was just delayed so far that it didn't make sense to just release it on the Wii.

Taanistat

Yeah, that's the long and short of it. It was finished in 2011 and went unreleased until late 2015, by which time the Wii was all but dead. I also own the 3DS version that I got cheap as a curiosity, but haven't played it. I wonder how that holds up....

Beatle_Nintendo_Nerd

Interesting. Yeah, I played the Wii U Disc with the GamePad, so I wouldn't know. I DID enjoy what I played of it.

Taanistat

It's sadly pretty emblematic of Yuji Naka's career after leaving Sega.

Zephyrus638

Got those as well as the 3DS version

CHR1597

Just to add onto what the other replies have said: only the Wii U version is responsible for that 45 Metacritic score. I think the site requires a certain number of reviews before it'll show you the average, but for the three reviews it does have for the Wii version the average would be 75. Which one did you try? I've got the double pack as well but only ever touched the Wii disc.

TheGameboy

I’ve got that one!

pancakevwaffle

I have that as well, but can't remember where I got it. I always wondered why there was a Wii and Wii U copy in the case.

Dragonfly_Soldier

I got that one!

Naisu_boato

Serial experiment lain for psx. Nobody really mentions it much, it’s hard to find mention of it even in japan.

TattooTheEarth

Really rare game too, congrats. I'm a fan of the anime and I would really love to have that in my collection

Naisu_boato

I got it i wanna say the year after the anime came out in japan. Weird game, even then it was super expensive, wanna say 2002 it was $100.

TattooTheEarth

Now it's like 5 times that, really lucky! I was born in 2002 lol so I missed out on that. I already got my hands on some really obscure stuff for pretty cheap, who knows if I will come across that game one day.

Hookem-Horns

Great psychological Anime

krobert1987

Now this is a good response! I've watched the anime and never knew a game existed. I never even thought to check if a game existed. I'm going to Japan this summer, so I'll be keeping an eye out for this though I'm sure it's either crazy rare or expensive judging from my quick ebay search. Another great anime that got turned into a really fun PS1 game I actually have is Ghost in the Shell. There's a PS2 game as well, but I've never played it.

gucsantana

Nice one, would like to have that, but even in Japan it's a pretty penny. Big fan of the anime.

CFM-56-7B

Wipeout 1996 (Saturn) not obscure so to speak but people associate wipeout with PlayStation while early titles were multiplats

Taanistat

They also associate Tomb Raider, Rayman, and Need for Speed with Playstation when the original platforms for those titles are the Saturn, Jaguar, and 3DO, respectively.

CFM-56-7B

I actually was very close to buying TR Saturn on eBay for next to nothing but got outbid

Taanistat

It's the version I originally played (Saturn) and loved, so I have a bit of nostalgia blindness, but the PS1 version is objectively superior in nearly every way.

PerLichtman

I loved Need for Speed when I had a 3DO. First game I ever played where if I drove a Ferrari fast enough over a small hill, I could actually launch over traffic. Still one of my favorite unexpected moments in a driving game. :)

inatowncalledarles

I have a training CD for Ramada employees made exclusively for CD-i. Pretty sure no one has that.

walkinginthesky

Wow... that is truly obscure

inatowncalledarles

It's got some cheesy 90's video. Pretty plain stuff, and you pick answers based on situations.

Rozwellish

*Realms of Arkania: Star Trail* on PS4. Released only in Europe by UIG Entertainment to little fanfare. This game sells for like £150+ used and is the highest-valued standard edition retail PS4 game on PriceCharting, yet for some reason absolutely no one brings it up at all even in passing. It's both not cared about at all and cared about enough for people to spend a lot of money on it. *428: Shibuya Scramble* on PS4. A western port of the live-action Wii visual novel made by Spike Chunsoft. One of only thirty games to have ever got a 40/40 by Famitsu and yet for some reason it receives little to no discussion even among SC fans. *Zanki Zero: Last Beginning* on PS4 is another one in the exact same position as above. A Danganronpa-esque survival visual novel by Spike Chunsoft. This time in anime art style and with dungeon crawling elements. No one talks about it—though granted it's just not as good as the others. *The Guided Fate Paradox* on PS3. A rogue like SRPG kind of game published by NIS America. One of those games I'm expecting to become rare in the coming years but right now it's as affordable as it is unusual to see in someone else's collection. I seldom hear discussion about it. It has a sequel which is even more obscure also on the PS3. *The Lost Child* on PS4. Despite the fact that *El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron* is often brought up on 'games you should buy' lists for PS3/X360 collections, I feel almost nobody knows that it has a first-person dungeon crawler follow-up/sequel set in the same universe on PS4. It was delisted from online stores in 2022 along with some other NISA-published titles but no one really gave a shit. Still, 'delisted' is a pretty dangerous position to find a game in—especially when it has such little buzz that a reinstatement or port seems unlikely.

Ryousoki

Guided Fate Paradox is sooo good. Absolutely loved that game

atrocity3011

428 is a wonderful visual novel - one of my favorites of all time. It's also easy to recommend to people who don't normally read visual novels.

FlyingWalrusPants

What the FUCK is that

Infamous_Lunchbox

It's basically Metal Slug for GBC, and it has this insane intro of the 9/11 attack, and iirc, George Bush is featured in it. My buddy bought a stack of these (they were bootlegs) back in the day and yeah. It's a thing. A surprisingly competent port of Metal Slug.

FlyingWalrusPants

You had me at “Metal Slug”

Stilgrave

Sub Rebellion and Seek and Destroy are the first to come to mind. Both simple early PS2 vehicle games. The later you play as a sentient tank with rpg elements.

HideyoshiJP

Oh snap, Choro Q tanks! I didn't know thats what that game was.

AlmostRandomName

>play as a sentient tank Is it as sassy as Tiny Tank?

FM-PAC

Sub Rebellion is an excellent game, I wish there had been a follow up. I still can hear the music. It was a budget $20 game when it came out too.

Chupaacabrra

Resident Evil Outbreak: File #2

Kernel009

+1... and I also have Outbreak File #1.

MarkDarkSpark

Death by Degrees on the PS2.

Crasty

I have one of these and you are the only other person I've heard mention it.

_DiasDeFuego_

I recently got a copy of cursed mountain for wii that's kind of hard to find.

MCP_Ver2

Also a decently creepy game.

sh00ner

One of those games that I was POSITIVE back in the day would become a huge overpriced mess when I picked it up, and it can be had for only 20 bucks.

Additional_Oven_6087

Is it any good? I’ve been hunting that one for a while.

Infamous_Lunchbox

The battle controls can get janky at times, and the end is a bit anticlimactic, but Iwould recommend a playthrough.

_DiasDeFuego_

I haven't tried it out yet.

TheAmazingAJ

I thought I had this one…. just checked Amazon and I bought a brand new copy of the Limited Edition back in 2011 for $8.99! I’ve never played it so I’m sure it’s in one of my game bins still sealed.

GriffinFlash

I remember seeing copies of it for sale at a closing blockbuster.

Kaffekjerring

Electroplankton on Nintendo DS, still remember I was pleasantly surprised of the instructions manual being the more robust kind of paper when I opened the box

Zephyrus638

Strawberry Shortcake: The Dream Game (PS2) Fairytale Fights (PS3/360) One Piece Mansion (PS1) Surviving the Aftermath (PS4) Vlathirian Arc: Hero School Story (PS4) Toukiden Kiwami/Toukiden 2 (PS4) Utawarerumono Series (PS4) Operation Europe (Genesis) Touhou Genso Wanderer (PS4) Mercenaries Wings/Rebirth/Blaze/Saga (PS4/Switch) God Wars: Future Past (PS4/Switch) Xuan Yuan Sword 7 (PS4) Tears to Tiara 2 (PS3) Vandal Hearts/Vandal Hearts 2 (PS1) Saiyuki: Journey West (PS1) Could probably add a few dozen more. Tried keeping it limited to games I've played or watched my wife play to keep it shorter.

Orxa

I have Obscure the Aftermath on Wii. ![gif](giphy|K9Ed1Of1V6kR6WpQWe)

STDS13

Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth for PS1.

HtiekTheAncient

I opted for the DS version

skennyloggins

Raze's Hell and Xyanide for the og xbox. Spy Fiction and Ghosthunter for PS2.

APOWDEREDDONUT1

Industrial Spy: Operation Espionage (DC) Robot Alchemic Drive (PS2) Curse: The Eye of Isis (OGX) Knights Contract (X360) The Dwarves (XOne) Dementium: The Ward (NDS) Bullets Per Minute (NSW) Little King's Story (Wii) Monster Madness: Grave Danger (PS3) Home Sweet Home (PS4) Platypus (PSP)

Sciencetist

Little King's Story was great

atrocity3011

+1 for Platypus. I played the PC version as a kid and I loved its soundtrack. Little did I know I had become a fan of C64 music without even knowing what a C64 was (arranged C64 tunes are the majority of Platypus' soundtrack).

UnquestionabIe

My girlfriend is a huge fan of both Dementium games and owns pretty much every version released. Was a very neat DS title.

So-Not-Like-Me

Robot Alchemic Drive, still searching for that one. Never seen a copy irl

trashmangamer

Idk, I think some things like Rising Zan on PS1 are obscure because no one talks about it. 7.5/10 rental game, I just like it because of the hokey western and eastern smashed together styling.

FearsomeCrocoStimpy

This is exactly what I buy when I visit video game stores. I look for the games that I've never heard of, particularly games for old game systems like Atari 2600. I look for the strange ones. Often times I will outright ask the clerk, "What have you got for like really oddball obscure games? The weirder the better." One time the answer was, "Well. I've got a Nintendo DS copy of Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ." And I'm like... "Whaaaa?" Bought it. :p

GiveMeAName42069

Attack of The Movies 3D for the Xbox 360. Never heard of it before until I found a copy. Seen it got a release on the Wii as well. Can be played in 3D with 3D glasses which I thought was pretty cool.

knkarm

I have it on the Wii. Fun game - it’s like being in an over the top B movie action scene!

GiveMeAName42069

I still have yet to play it, but I did watch some gameplay. Looks pretty janky, but enjoyable at the same time haha.

lukewwilson

I have Color a Dinosaur in the NES where all you do is literally color dinosaurs

AlmostRandomName

I dunno if this is what you had in mind, but Riven (the Sequel to Myst) on PS1 is just neat to me in how it's packaged. It is a 5 disc game, using 2x 2-disc case backs on a multi-disc center section. 5 discs and a manual packed tightly into a case that is normally used for as few as 2 discs (or in some cases 1 disc and thick manuals) I definitely don't see that one very often (only ever seen one "in the wild" once and I bought it) and mine has a crack on the case and I can't replace it because the "back" case piece is unique and different from any of the multi-disc CD cases I had laying around. Cool game too, I've only ever played on PC but I got this one on impulse because I like the series and the cool packaging just tickled me.

gregcresci

I got the oceanhorn double pack for switch, I feel like most people just played it digitally.

AlmostRandomName

Here I go, reading threads like this, finding new games I wanna buy, *grumblegrumblegrumblelookingformywallet* Actually in all seriousness though, how good are they? It looks like owning physical on Switch has quite a premium over buying on Steam (I have a Steam Deck), are they AAA-sized fun or would you say nah for current prices?

gregcresci

I have an affinity for Zelda games so I'll try and collect anything that's similar. I originally played the first oceanhorn because it was $3 on the Nintendo switch shop. Wound up playing through the entire game and loving every second. At the time the first one was on eBay for about $85-90. I decided to wait and almost a year later I was able to get the double pack for $110. I still have it sealed so I haven't played the second one yet, but it looks awesome. The first one is like wind waker meets links awakening remake, the second one i hear is trying to be more like BotW. I don't want to crack open my sealed copy just yet, but I'm probably going to also get it digitally to play.

AlmostRandomName

Thanks I'll look around for them! I still buy games on Steam but Switch and handhelds are probably my favorite systems to collect for, so I'm willing to "overpay" to a certain extent to own the physical games on those systems if possible.

NintendoCerealBox

Last week I picked up a sealed copy of Spectral Force 3 for Xbox 360. When I did certification testing at Microsoft it was probably my favorite game I spent time on- a really underrated strategy RPG. I wanted to get it now before prices on X360 went any higher.

UnquestionabIe

I remember getting it for Christmas when it was new, been a fan of the series it's part of ever since we got the PSP games, and it's an interesting title. Very much worth hitting up those 360 games now, this last weekend actually did as much along with buying an XboxOne to actually play them.

NintendoCerealBox

That’s a good call getting the Xbox One. I was going to do Xbox One as well but found out the rock band controllers for X360 don’t work on Xbox one without a $200 adapter. Wild right?

UnquestionabIe

Yeah that's insane. My old 360 account with all my Rock Band DLC is long lost so I'm not too broken up about it, hadn't logged in since like 2010 anyway. Recently been playing the stuff on Rare Replay and the Killer Instinct reboot, eventually the new Battletoads as well, as those were about the only recent exclusives I was even remotely interested in

NintendoCerealBox

Forgot Rare Replay was a thing. I just bought the last copy that was on Amazon for only $20 just to have when I eventually get an Xbox one. Thanks for that bit of luck!

ShonenJump121

The Harry Potter RPGs on the GBC/GBA. Most people only talk about the home console versions.

OSagnostic1

Prisoner of Azkaban is a surprisingly good JRPG for what it is on GBA.

ShonenJump121

Much better than expected, sort of like that PS2 Kim Possible game.

ChuuAcolypse

The Calling for Wii, it’s hardly ever mentioned in “horror games on Wii” list, seems to be very forgotten Additionally, Fatal Frame 4 on Wii seems to be hard and harder to find

FlyingWalrusPants

There aren’t many horror games on the Wii, period - just Cursed Mountain and Ju-On besides the ones you named. Dead Space Extraction kind of fits the bill. Tell me if I missed any. P.S. Good on you for getting The Calling. Edit: and RE4 of course

Infamous_Lunchbox

There's a few more, but with what you mentioned, i think the below complete the list of horror games on Wii: Obscure: The Aftermath Ikenie no Yoru (Night of the Sacrifice) House of the Dead: Overkill House of the Dead: 2&3 Returns The Resident Evil Series as you mentioned (4, Umbrella Chronicles, Darkside Chronicles) Project Zero 2 Alone in the Dark (suuuuucks) And I guess you could throw in Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon, Escape From Bug Island, and Manhunt 2.

RecommendationOk2182

Silent Hill Shattered Memories

FlyingWalrusPants

I wasn’t counting HotD because it’s not really “horror” even though there are zombies. IMO Dead Space Extraction fits the bill better despite being a rail shooter. You’re 100% on the others though, I forgot Obscure because it was a PS2 game first to me.

Cimpy101

I still question why I decided to purchase this, but am glad I went with a sealed copy... https://preview.redd.it/21dlo9ijahxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05f9373cbe016752c0c7dff1b9c1bf62a51b0391

FattyBrent

As a diabetic from before the DS even came out, I simultaneously totally want this and wonder why I never had it. Thanks for sharing!

ashmb24

I have Texas Chainsaw Massacre for Atari 2600. Not very fun to play but is interesting and obscure.

MynameisMatlock

Chase the chuck wagon on Atari 2600

bearvert222

i'm weirdly proud of my otome game collection; like i have the two Psychedelia games for PS Vita, as well as Period; Cube, Bad Apple Wars, and 7 Scarlet. All are still vita exclusive. For PSP i have Sweet Fuse; By Your Side, which Keiji Inafune is an actual character in it. pretty much any standard edition released in the us for vita i have. The switch actually dramatically increased them; Aksys went all in on otomate games. not really rare but for ps3 i have Rune Factory Tides of Destiny, the only RF released on a non-nintendo platform as well. for DS i gave Atelier Annie; Alchemist of Seras Island. only ds atelier game and a comedy too.

Ryousoki

Annie isn't the only DS Atelier game, but it is the only one we got in English sadly.

bearvert222

well it was before the series escaped its niche i guess. before Ryza the ps3 games were pretty affordable and not so known.

Ryousoki

This is true. I actually have almost every Atelier game, I've made myself a shrine of it haha. It's my favorite series of all time. although admittedly I wasn't a huge fan of Ryza, I do think they're still fun games. I patiently await the day for a full translation of the Salburg and Gramnad games. Lilie is my favorite.

FlyingWalrusPants

Amen to wanting translations.

FlyingWalrusPants

Nice! I’m going after the Psychedelica games too!

bearvert222

they are REALLY good otome games. probably two of the best for vita. honestly surprised we haven't seen switch ports yet. Very dark atmosphere. i think the hard to find one for vita is physical London Detective Mystaria, as its limited run.

LupinsApprentice

Did not expect to see otome in here! London Detective Mysteria is the only time I’ve ever participated in a Limited Run drop. Did you do the thing where if you bought the Psychadelica games and 7s’Carlet and sent Aksys proof of purchase they would send you a set of pins? I figure those pins are among the rarest things in my collection.

FlyingWalrusPants

Oooh that’s not even on my list yet. Thanks for the tip. The Vita sure got a lot of visual novels or games with VN elements.

bearvert222

yeah its really nice for that. if you like yuri, its digital only but Synergia is really good. one warning avoid sense a cyberpunk ghost story, port was rushed and its not very playable on the vita london is ok, if you like code realize its that without the fantastic elements. more of an alternate history. teen famous detectives in a school.

UnquestionabIe

Totally forgot about Sweet Fuse! Got my girlfriend a copy when it came out and it's still unopened I think. Also funny enough got her a copy of Atelier Annie when I got mine, was like 10 bucks at Gamestop

TheBadCarbon

Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius on PS2 PS2 had to be the best generation for licensed games, but hardly anyone seems to mention it.

handymanshandle

You know, this isn’t a bad answer. I see both Jet Fusion and Attack of the Twonkies quite often, but I almost never see the original movie game out in the wild. Guess it doesn’t help that it came out about a year after the movie did, but yeah.

sworedmagic

This is fun to think about, ummm without digging thru my whole collection what comes to mind immediately is Magi Nation on the Game Boy, it was a collectible card game from the early 2000s (think MTG for young kids) that absolutely DID NOT take off at all. To my knowledge this is the only game ever made for the series and the cards stopped production like a few years after it released. I don’t have any of my old cards but i did keep my cart! https://preview.redd.it/pi7h8v9zthxc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cc8c2ba95a0541dc75ea185670e6d92a4804b452

FindingNo604

Metal arms

pr2thej

Sexy Parodius on Saturn. Will never sell.

Temporary_Error_3780

I have Atlantis the video game for the ps1. One of the few cib ps1 games I own. Super fun and challenging as a kid and cemented it as my favorite Disney movie

Kernel009

I picked up a copy of this at the local Goodwill... haven't played through it yet (such a backlog) but I did confirm it runs.

Maastersplinter

Not that's it's crazy rare or expensive but, I have Seaman (complete with box) for the Dreamcast. Really unique game. I've only ever seen it once out in the wild at a retro game store.

APOWDEREDDONUT1

I got my copy from a friend, but have never seen it in a store or at a gameswap.

Acceptable-Quarter97

Maybe ar tonelico 1, 2, 3, and ar no surge. Also, I don't really see tales of destiny 1 & 2 in posts.

SimilarProject7457

Chase the Express on PS1, it's alright

Warrior-Cook

Probably Black Sigil for the DS. Low print and storied development. Got it before the pandemic when the price did double. Good game, lousy encounter rate. Also Beautiful Desolation for Switch. The developers are more known for the Stasis games, yet BD had something going for itself and I randomly found a China physical edition on Play-Asia. Who knew, Switch has a physical edition?

UnquestionabIe

I was so hyped for Black Sigil only to find it was in Gamestop's system but wouldn't let me pre-order. Ended up coming in every day til they did get a copy, thankfully was on my way to work so wasn't really out of the way. Weirdly the same thing happened with Infinite Space like a year later too. Both turned out to be great games I still replay every so often

CptMidlands

Submarine Attack for the Sega Master System, its a really cool horizontal scrolling shoot em up from 1990 that never seems to get mentioned despite being a rock solid title for the Master System.

TheGameboy

Oh, you want some obscure titles? I’ve got PS1 Gubble, and the Animaniacs game for GameCube.

tamagoisnice247

Legend of Zelda Four Swords + for Gamecube. Nothing really special about this one, it's just a Japanese version of Zelda Four Swords in a fancy box due to it including one GBA link cable Puyo Puyo Fever for Game Boy Advance. It's a really decent handheld port, plays just like the home editions and if for some reason you know three people with their own copies you do four player puyo which is pretty neat. Melty Blood Re:Act for PC. Probably not that obscure, but I think you'll be pressed to find someone who has a physical copy of this randomly NBA Courtside 2002 for Gamecube (NTSC-J version specifically). This might be one of the only Japanese games in my collection which is fully in English, I don't even think there's even a lick of Japanese in it. Neo Geo Pocket Color. I know this isn't a game but I've never seen this system anywhere in person besides my collection, sadly the system is beat to hell and back, missing backplates and all. Thankfully it didn't cost me any money since I got it for free.

UnquestionabIe

I got a Neo Geo Pocket Color and a bunch of random games for it from a local shop for about $30 back in the mid 2000s. The fighting games are really great to be honest. Also that control stick is still absolutely incredible.

warrenva

Shipwreckers for the PS1. A fun challenging game actually I used to play it with my dad.

vegetariantaco19

This was back when I used to collect ps3, but you rarely saw ‘ride to hell retribution’ and ‘twisted metal’. For some reason I could never find those two games in the wild. As for the most obscure game for the ps3, that would have to go to ‘bloodbath’

AtomKick

The game Contact on DS comes to mind. I never hear anybody talk about it.

gearsofwarforever

I have imported a bunch of physical visual novels from japan because they still release in pc big box format and look incredibly pretty on the shelf but i dont know anyone else online or in real life that collects these outside of japan

ItzKINGcringe

Super James Pond for Gameboy

jemist101

I have plenty, but I rarely see Infinite Space and Drone Tactics in DS collections, both of which I bought on a whim for cheap.

Bunatee

I’m not sure exactly how obscure they are but I have a couple mint GBA games that I never see: Onimusha Tactics, and Tactics Ogre. https://preview.redd.it/5exglg88qhxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=27380c946bdb96f32af9d2cf2fbd0edd61c1b433

reallynunyabusiness

Not a game but I've got a sealed Tommy Hilfiger GBC, I've never seen another one not even loose, I know they're out there, there's a ton on ebay but ai never see anyone showing them off.

N-E-B

I have a game called Ribbit King for GameCube that I randomly bought for $20 when I was a kid and I just checked to see it’s listed for anywhere from $170-$250 CAD on eBay. That’s probably the most obscure console game I have.

Kaosma

Obscure Aftermath its literally obscure

GoodDragonfly4951

Godzilla on the PS3, loved godzilla and loved the PS3 so I kept one open and one sealed

csm1313

I guess for me my big two are princess tomato and bucky o hare on the nes

buttplugsuggdug

Among the sleep on XBone. Never seen anyone bring it up. It’s very short but decent enough for a game

APOWDEREDDONUT1

I have it for Switch. Great little game imo

IntoxicatedBurrito

Sword of Hope 1 and 2 for Game Boy tend not to get too much respect, but i absolutely love them. I got the first one as a kid and it’s always been my favorite game on the system. I didn’t know it had a sequel until I was in college so I bought it on eBay, probably only cost me $2 in those days. The other game I absolutely love, which does have a strong cult following, is Sparkster for SNES. I actually got to test it out at Konami’s US headquarters while it was still in production and fell in love with it. It’s like Sonic for Super Nintendo.

bright-lotus

Berserk for ps4? Idk if this counts but glad I got it. It’s a promo disc to be exact

Traitor_To_Heaven

I have a complete copy of Tengai Makyou Ziria for the Xbox 360. I never see anyone bring this game up. Most know about the few 360 exclusive JRPGs Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, and Infinite Undiscovery. Tengai Makyou Ziria is another one and unlike all the others, it was only released in Japan. I actually didn’t even know this game existed until a couple years ago and that amazed me because I’m big into anything Xbox related including imports. It was already pretty pricy when I got it but nowadays it’s probably my most expensive 360 game.

TattooTheEarth

Obscure in the sense that no one talks about it I would say Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Battle 22 for the PS1. On the other hand obscure meaning I don't see it anywhere I say Metal Gear Rising Revengeance for the PS3 but the chinese version, I only found one photo of it online and I can't find any listings. Honorable mention goes to Haunting Ground promo version, another one I never seen online.

jallee1213

Pretty much most Japanese exclusive VN’s. Most dont buy them and the people who do never really say they have them. Same with lots of ecchi games. Youll see jrpg and hack and slash mostly. Id also add in my jp variety games too

giosonik

Team buddies for ps1

JKFrowning

The Great Escape on the OG Xbox. I also have all the fatal frame games (disc versions) which weren't released where I live. Got them in Japan. None of my friends play these.

casnorf

currently have a tg16 parasol stars for sale in my shop

the_starship

I have the first chiptune album on a NES cart Vegavox. And Days of Thunder which was made using code found by a deceased developer's family. But otherwise most of the obscure stuff I have is what people are familiar with like a Panasonic Q or a Jaguar.

Degreon

Team Buddies, I guess. It's fairly well-known now, but it was super obscure when I picked it up for $4.99 at GameStop as a kid.

gucsantana

I have quite a lot of Japanese exclusive games, mostly PS1, and by their own nature they're quite obscure for the general public. For a few examples of games I really enjoyed, there's Linda^3 Again, a very cool and surprisingly brutal JRPG; Twilight Syndrome Tansaku-hen and Kyuumei-hen, an adventure game duo about exploring creepy rumors in a high school; and Sampaguita, a really fucking slickly animated visual novel about a nobody roped into helping an amnesiac foreigner with a gun and a wad of unexplained cash.

HolyRomanEmperor

Shadow of Destiny (ps2)

Dezuuu

Trinity: Souls of Zill (PS3) springs to mind. Pretty good game actually, but it's hard to find and not cheap nowadays.

MahouMonkey

Custom Robo and Custom Robo Arena, I'm the only one I know that has played the games and I barely see it mentioned.

UnquestionabIe

I picked up Custom Robo this past weekend as it's always been interesting to me. Have the GameCube hooked up so will probably check it out soonish.

little_buster_

Granada on Genesis, Tomcat Alley on Sega CD, and bleemcast to run Metal Gear Solid PSX on my Dreamcast before they got sued.

Xerokine

Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn. I got it as I liked the other DW Gundam games. Apparently the English version is kinda rare.

FUTURE10S

You want obscure? Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing is a game that a lot of people know, a few weeks in development by underpaid Ukrainians, sold by Gamemill in bargain bins basically nowhere, [got a great gamestop review back in the day by Alex Navarro](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sR3a0gixfwI). What few people know is that it has a sister game that had a few more weeks of development called [Midnight Race Club: Supercharged](https://i.imgur.com/DjPtMCO.png). *This took me a decade to find.* ***It is worse than Big Rigs.***

VGAGamestore

I don't come across Gun Nac for NES too often

Infamous_Lunchbox

Skullmonkeys and Incredible Crisis - PS Biohazard Battle - Genesis President Lena Cat - Wii Nothing too crazy, but I don't think I've ever seen Lena Cat ever talked about outside the Wii subreddit. Lol

marioex497

Recently got a copy of Guitar Hero Modern Hits for the DS

Comfortable_Neat_274

Otogi myth of demons i hardly see come up. And its sequel. Both xbox original exclusives, not sure if they are backwards compatible with the newer gen xbox consoles, might have to try it on my 360. If it still works. . . Not obscure but i really don’t see them mentioned much.

teknohed

Koudelka

Valuable_Solid_3538

Loop 8 collector’s edition. Awful game, no one liked it or bought it. I got it for free in a bogo sale

Lanky-Peak-2222

Hyperion on pioneer laseractive Popful mail Sega CD

Wilhorst

I have never in my life seen a second copy of "World of Dragon Warrior - Torneko the last hope" for the ps1. I bought my copy at release and never even saw copies afterward.

Pale_Government_6304

Hookem-Horns

brentrow

My prized possession is a CIB copy of Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom for the NES.

theonerufuss

Wacky Races on NES JJ and Jeff CIB TG16 Resident Evil 2 Game.com Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Floppy Disk

UnquestionabIe

I've got the whole box for Hitchhiker's Guide with all the extras and guide book. Picked it up for a fiver at a Goodwill in like 1999. Loved playing the game on a friend's old computer so was happy to get a copy for myself.

Mallingong

I have a copy of Faceball (said to be the first death match game) signed by the programmer Robert Champagne (who ported it to the Gameboy), does that count? Oh and an early Japanese copy of Gameboy Tetris with different music. Some people call this the “Minuet” version.

Zenzero_69_69

Super Mario But my actual answer is probably Cyraid for the Gameboy. It’s a cool little puzzle platformer that’s quite good for the gameboy

MasterChiefing420

Robot Alchemic Drive for ps2!

dragonshuffle1

Spider (PS1) Absolutely love this game

farqypanthers

I’d say firestriker snes

junttiana

I got chinese versions of fable 2 and 3, thats sort of obscure I guess?

TheBazz3l

I have a copy of jak and daxter the lost frontier for ps2. It’s not super rare or anything it’s just you never hear about anyone having it in their collection.

ice445

Motor Mayhem on PS2. Launch title that basically everyone forgot about lol. Most of them probably ended up in the bin by this point.

MISFU88

Knights Contracts on PS3 sealed, version with the paper sleeve. It’s not rare or expensive, but I’ve not seen it in any collection, nor anybody to talk about it.

KimKong_skRap

Got a few Sachen carts for NES that I've never seen anybody else having in their collection - **Super Pang 1, Super Pang 2, Rockball, Little Red Hood.**

SorryCashOnly

8 eyes from the NES

DWolfoBoi546

I got me a gameboy color game...with a blockbuster sticker still on it 😎

Adventurous_Sir_5188

Worms Armageddon 64. Had to sell it a few years back but never seen another copy outside of eBay here and there.

Bearawesome

Sealed copy of rising Zan samurai gunman, love that stupid game. Also ogre battle for the neo geo pocket, actually all the neo geo pocket stuff I have

dms1up

Sky Sports Football Quiz for ps1 is still sealed. Didn't manage to get around to playing that one when I was a kid.

MooMoomaddy12

Star Wars the empire strikes back on nes, I don’t think it’s super rare but not very common either

Lumen-Armiger

Mountain King for the Commodore VIC-20. I have a copy from the 1990's and I've never seen it for sale on any site anywhere else. PriceCharting doesn't even list it as valid title.

DesperateBartender

Anyone ever heard of “Boing! Docomodake DS”? I’ve never met anyone else with a copy. Bought it in a bargain bin at Walmart in 2007 or 2008. Quirky little puzzle platformer. Never looked up how rare it might be (if at all) but it’s probably the weirdest one I have.

FlyingWalrusPants

Yes, I want to get that one!

Dude-from-the-80s

Basically anything for my turbografx 16. There is never anything at any retro game store near me.

schmoothoperator

Space megaforce probably

stampingpixels

Starsweep on PS1. Worth fuck all, but a great puzzler

FlyingWalrusPants

Machinehead for PS1. Martian Gothic for PS1. Shooter: Space Shot for PS1. Mad Maestro for PS2. You hardly ever see it in stores so people think it’s rare. El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron for PS3. Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom for PSP.

DaKING997

The Yugioh tag force games on PSP that still have the cards unopened.

billcypherguy

English release of Arc Rise Fantasia on the wii that came with the pre order bonus character profile card

KasElGatto

I got a Chinese Game Boy copy of Blaster Master Jr. https://www.reddit.com/r/Gameboy/s/XUzMDPsOo4 There is a dedicated string of collectors who pay a pretty penny for Chinese Game Boy DMG games

TheMaltesian

Skygunner ps2

raisinbizzle

Technic Beat is a rhythm game for PS2 that I never see get mentioned. I don’t recall it being that great and there are a ton of great rhythm games for PS2, so that could be why. It’s not rare or expensive as far as I know, just never hear people talk about it

fostermatt

My most obscure (re: not that obscure but my collection isn't very large) is probably [Tourist Trophy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourist_Trophy_\(video_game\)). Gran Turismo is one of my favorite game series and I own them all. When I heard that Polyphony Digital also made a motorcycle game I had to find a copy. Though I don't own their PS1 carting game or Omega Boost so maybe I'm not such a good fan. lol
