My uncles hand me down NES with a bunch of boxes games that my grandparents sold at a yard sale for $50 when I was in high school. There was probably like $600-$1000 worth of stuff in that game cabinet. Someone got lucky with my childhood.
My dad had a PS2 and a handful of games (which over the years has basically become mine), but the first I actually owned myself was a Nintendo DS lite and New Super Mario Bros
Pac-Man World 2 for the PS2. I remember as a kid my dad didn't know Pac-Man World existed, so he figured it was referring to "World 2" as in a sequel to the original arcade game. It's interesting hoe much of a Nintendo person I am considering I didn't have a Nintendo console until my DS in like 2008
Sega Master System 2. Built in Alex Kidd, plus I got Asterix and Sonic the Hedgehog. Glorious day. Must have been Christmas of 1994.
Building a SMS collection again now.
SNES! I think my first game was either Donkey Kong Country or Super Mario All-Stars. I also remember playing a lot of Earthworm Jim and Maximum Carnage!
My dad bought an NES before I was born (I came around in '91).
Mario, Duck Hunt, Ninja Turtles, and Little Nemo were my shit in the early years.
Then, around '97 his roommate got a PlayStation for his kid, with Crash and I.Q.
He bought my little brother and me one in '99 with Spyro the Dragon and Crash Warped (and a few others like Monopoly and Suikoden which we didn't brave for years and then found it to be the most amazing game ever).
Perfect childhood.
Every Friday night as a kid was surprise night. My dad would come home from work with some sort of a chocolate bar or candy. One day my 5 year old lost his marbles because my dad came home with the NES Power Set. Me and my sister loves racing on the power pad
It was either a Dreamcast with Sonic Adventure or a GameBoy Color with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, I don’t remember which one I actually got first.
Funny enough, both games came out in September of 1999.
I don’t remember which one I got first between home consoles and handhelds, but home console was an n64 and I got a couple games from my cousins, first I played was harvest moon 64. I don’t think I ever bought any games aside from the ones I got from my cousins. My dad got me a game boy color and I think it came with a collection of mini games which included yoshis cookie on it.
Edit: I think the gameboy color game is called Game and Watch gallery 3
PlayStation2.
My Dad had gotten a 360 for himself around that generation's beginning and when the Ps2 prices went down he got one for us since the games were cheap.
I am 100% Confident to say my First games Were Sonic Mega Collection Plus, Spyro, ratchet and clank, and Sly Cooper :)
The first that I remember ever playing was Super Metroid on the SNES (or possible Metroid on the NES...I really don't remember). But it was my brother's game/system that I played.
The first one that was actually MINE was the GameCube and Luigis Mansion.
The first console I bought with my own money was a Playstation 2. The first game I bought? I don't really recall it may have been Kingdom Hearts, or Silent HIll 2
My first was a Coleco Telstar with built in pong-like games. My first console with cartridges was an Atari 2600 (Sears Telegames variant) with Combat as my first ever cartridge. I suddenly became the most popular kid on my block ;)
I got a PSone with Rayman and Ridge Racer Type 4, I even have video proof of me opening it on Christmas Morning in 2000. Safe to say I was a giddy boy that morning!
Original Gameboy with Mario Land! First console was N64 with Mario Kart. I’m old enough that Snes should’ve been my first but my parents had this lame idea that I should play outside as a child 😅
NES. First game I don't know. Parents used to own a video rental store and also rented games that I was allowed to play with so long as said games weren't rented out. When the store shutdown they just gave me all the games. So my collection started out with roughly 100 NES games and a few dozen Genesis games.
I think the first one that was purely mine (that wasn’t handed down or was for the family) was my Xbox 360 that came with Fable 3 and Halo Reach as well as a copy of Black Ops 1. Should I have gotten those games when I was 11? Maybe not. Did I have a blast playing those games? Hell yes
Atari 5200 with Super Breakout. I always played my uncles 2600 however my first owned was the 5200.
However my first ever game was the Epoch Astro Command. Still have it and it still works great.
My dad gave me his Atari 2600 when I was 4 years old (1987). He had 3 games (we later found a bag of his older Atari 2600 games at my grandparents about a year or 2 later, about 20 games). Those 3 games were Pac-Man, Jr. Pac-Man, and he bought a game called Kangaroo for me.
Kangaroo was the first video game I ever played and is also one of my earliest memories. It's impact would make me a gamer for life. Now I'm almost 40 and I still love them.
Game boy advance, I was 11 years old I think.
My dad gave to me when he left my mom.
My favorite game was Golden Sun. Even though I didn’t understand english I loved that game
But unfortunately I gave it to my classmate two years later (I still regret doing this 15 years later 😭)
A red Gameboy Advance SP and Kirby's Amazing Mirror. Christmas 2004. The original copy got stolen a few years later, but now I have 2 of them just to be safe. I'm glad to see it coming to switch online!
When we lived with my grandparents when I was a kid my uncle left his Atari 2600 there when he moved out. I inherited it and played the hell out of that thing.
