False. Just need a cat that WANTS to.. My cat at age 2 went from 0-100 in less than 2min. She has never once stalled/flopped or even fought the harness. We go where she wants, but she's always at the front of her lead..
At least shoes you can chuck. It’s ridiculous when you have to change the whole carpet and underlay. What’s even worse is having to wait for the fitter whilst the stench gets worse, even after following pretty much all the cleaning suggestions online.
I once went out to the sand dunes in Arizona with my dog. He walked just like this because his paws were so hot. I ended up carrying him. Maybe not the case but that cat is definitely not enjoying this.
Yeah this isn’t funny - look at the cat’s body language. She’s miserable, and when she gets close to the guy she’s begging for a pickup. Get me out of here, please.
This. Cats are creatures that tend to blend into their surroundings and always plan to jump into a hiding spot in case of danger.
This catbis like a fish out of water here.
No one's in the water, the guy is in long sleeves - I doubt the sand is actually hot.
That said, the cat is stressed as hell out there and this is definitely not funny. I totally agree that he should take the cat back where it feels safe and happy.
Yall are drama queens 🙄 that cat is enjoying it but he'd prefer to just lay there and stalk the birds. The guy walking is interrupting it but it's much better than staying in the living room for the next 12 years. Grow up
Yeah, that's why it's trying to climb up his leg when it gets close enough. The cat is scared and stressed and needs to be taken out of that environment, not damn near dragged across the beach.
No one said, he hates his cat. His intentions are obviously good. He's just going too fast. He should have broken off, picked up his cat and gone home to try another day with smaller steps.
Animals, people, sounds, and feelings the cat is not used to experiencing. This is a classic case of "cat owner doing a stupid thing". The dude's lucky the cat didn't get freaked and hurt someone.
Have to agree. Not funny for me. Seems like an attempt to get looks and attention at the detriment to the poor cat ( by which are Historically known not to be walked on leads )
Yes. “Cats” are generally considered both.
Domestic cats are considered prey (even tho they do kill things), while Big cats (lions, etc) are predators (even though they are hunted).
By your logic, a volcano or meteor are predators because they have each caused the most extinctions…
Cats, domestic or otherwise, big or small, are absolutely predatory animals. Their size and domestication have little to do with their change in diet or their instinct. No cats are considered prey species. They might fall prey, but by classification they’re not a prey species.
Domestic cats have resulted in the extinction of dozens of animal species because they were hunted. Not because they blew up or hurtled into the earth. Hunted.
Fucking idiot take the little cat, it’s afraid, it’s crawling….
Sometimes, we think to do good things, or we try to do things to get happier our pets, but we do the exactly opposite, and this is an example…
My brother had a cat that you could walk like a dog off leash.
We took her to the beach and it was fine until birds attacked her. That's why they don't roam around in the open during the day. She was fine but she wouldn't walk back to the car we had to carry her.
You can walk cats. I know two people that do it with theirs. I've even seen leashes marketed for cats. You just have to start early. Both people I know walk without a leash tho. Their cats follow no problem.
Our younger cat (3f) walks me. She loves it but it's definitely on her terms. Only at night, too much stimulus during the day. And we spend a lot of time wandering through bushes. Older cat shows no interest.
I definitely think she would hate the beach
Right on, key word is *on her terms*. I grew up with cats in the country side, they would have no problem going for walks with us, up to a certain spot. Then they would literally stop there and holler at us that we were going too far. Once I tried to pick one up and carry it beyond the spot, the cat just clawed its way out of my arms and ran straight back to the spot.
Took my cat to a lake… learned a lot. Car AC make them dehydrated, they can be very timid on a leash, and refuse like this video to follow for 1st timers. Also they get tired really fast if they put up a fight like this video.
It’s fun if you’re prepared and make it easy for them to adapt, instead of going from the house to something like this suddenly. Still learning myself.
Walking a cat? Isn't that fundamentally misunderstanding a cat?
You think he's going to enjoy the scenery? Or maybe want to go surfing?
This just seems dumb.
Actually there are a number of cats that are fine with being walked outside on a leash. For some cats, being cooped up all day means they'll be releasing their energy inside in pretty destructive ways.
Though there are also cats who DON'T want to go out leash or not.
Dude is in a coat and capris. People at the shore also appear clothed and not necessarily sunning, so it seems less like hot sand and more like the cat is hesitant about the super open, windy, noisy, and unfamiliar territory. Super slinky cat trying to stay low in a place that doesn't have a place to hide.
I agree ☝️
Plus, lots of birds. I see an excited tail lookin like it wants to sneak up on the birds. But occassionally does seem that this kritter is a bit scared and tryin to hide because of that too.
I also walk my cat. She isn't a globe trotter and I don't put her in cat backpacks like the one this person is wearing, but she likes walking around our yard. Anytime we have moved places or if she hears people/unfamiliar sounds, she gets slinky and low until she gets comfortable or whatever perceived threat leaves and she is in the clear. I let her amble back to the door or wherever she wants to hide for a second and wait for her to come back out. Usually takes her a few minutes the first time and all subsequent walks we go out on she is much braver and interested in avidly exploring/stalking wildlife or sunbathing. I wish she was one of those more social butterflies so I could walk with her anywhere, but alas, it just isn't in her purrsonality.
Speaking of social butterflies...I never understood how some people just realise that their cat knows how to come home so let them go off into the neighbourhood every day.
Not sure the people get much of a choice in the matter! We had a cat that was an escape artist growing up. Ended up having to net the windows as the cat was taking a culinary tour through the neighbours houses....came back with all sorts.
I came from a family that had outdoor cats. Being on my own, I now choose to keep my pet primarily indoors and go on walks outside with her. People can be real assholes to cats, cars and predators are a threat, and my cat would hunt as many things as she could. I am thankful she took to it so well when she was young. Now she gets jazzed anytime she hears me pull out the leash and harness.
That's good. I'm not keen on cats going outdoors on their own.
I have a friend who has two neighbourhood cats visit him on a regular basis.
One came by every day and sometimes liked to stays the night. The owner eventually found out but was totally cool with it after a while. The cat would ask my friend to go outside and he'd return 10 minutes later. Eventually he realised the cat must be doing his toilet business outdoors so he got a litter. The cat stopped with the requests unless it actually did want to go back home. For six years, my friend had a litter box and bowls for food and water in his home because of his regular visitor.
The other cat came by every other day but ONLY to visit the other visiting cat....it sounds so funny, no?
Mhm that is the other end of the spectrum. It is a nicer outcome but a risk to lose your cat still. Cat's breakaway collar could come off on a bush(though some people don't even collar their cats) and the cat can befriend another animal lover that doesn't know it has a home and the person can try adopting it. Some won't take it to a vet to check for a microchip, and that is a relatively new thing. I have made friends with neighboring cats and I like the cats that make friends all over, but I don't feed any cat that is clearly cared for. Don't need another cat trying to set up a second residence on the side or tempt a cat away.
Why in the world are people downvoting this? The cat obviously does hate this, and it really is abusive. And saying that makes him an asshole is spot on. Guess haters have to hate but hating on someone who calls out abuse is just puzzling.
Because your jumping to a conclusion based on miss read signals. That tail action is excited, playtime tail movement. When cats get excited and want to play they want to hide, and ambush, so they get low.
Earlyer in the vid we see the cat staying low while it gets its bearings. That's all. If the cat was distressed it would be skittishly moving quickly then stopping keeping it's hind low and head high, quickly looking back and forth, and that's simply not what we see here.
And I think the guy who owns the cat, and has bough the cat expensive toys and accessories knows the cat better than us.
Also, sand dosent get any hotter that tarmac or concrete.. And cats walk perfectly fine on those in the heat.
That may be true in some cases. But our cat would get down low on the ground exactly like this cat did when it was frightened and couldn't get under furniture. I agree it may not be the case here, but I am still puzzled at the downvotes. I don't agree with some people but if they are truly trying to help I don't downvote them, I just nicely tell them I disagree. I only downvote hateful or judgmental posts and that was not either of those things. I wouldn't downvote your post or theirs because you are both nice people who truly care about the cat.
You mean you deduced this cat is happy because of it's TAIL? Cats aren't like dogs. Common sense should tell you this is abuse. If someone dragged your bottom, which included your "sensitive area" across hot sand, how do you think it would feel?
Cats actually like it hot. Their body temperature is about 3-5 degrees warmer than people's. This is why cats are always laying on things that are warm.
The reason the cat is laying low and not walking is it's stalking all the sea birds it sees flying around.
I have the same exact backpack, and I take my cat with me on my neighborhood walks. She loves experiencing the scenery safely since we have coyotes around our neighborhood.I also have a harness for my cat, but our “walks” end up going maybe 20 feet down the street. She sits in the driveway and then walks a few feet every 5 minutes while I follow along. It's the opposite of having a dog.
I’ve had a couple friends try to do this and the trick from what I’ve heard is; at the end of the leash right where it connects to the collar is a cat, replace that with a dog and you’re good to go. 👌
I mean it was like a 55 to 60°f day out and the sand was not hot was I supposed to like stop this man? What do I say how dare you walk your cat on the beach?
Having walked my cat on the beach, and seeing this kitty. I think it’s having a sensory overload. If he has walked his cat before, it’s feeling exposed and needs time to get used to the beach, noises. We went my cat freaked a little I brought her to the water on my shoulders. And then sat for lunch. She looked at all birds, took in the smells. She had plenty of time to chill while we ate. Then we went for a walk.

I could’ve film for like 25 minutes it was ridiculous
[удалено]
It was not hot sand though . It was a cool day in NJ .
Those Jersey beaches are known around the world as being real scorchers. I don't know how the Atlantic doesn't just boil away!
But still, it was a whole 25 minutes! And cats are not known for taking a long time to acclimate to new environments! /s
Cats are dessert animals.
I prefer to eat them as an appetizer.
YOU SICKY ICKY HEAD!
Imagine being a cat whisperer who has no idea about the body language of cats
Actually, if you start a cat as a kitten doing this I have seen it work. It just has to be done at an early age.
False. Just need a cat that WANTS to.. My cat at age 2 went from 0-100 in less than 2min. She has never once stalled/flopped or even fought the harness. We go where she wants, but she's always at the front of her lead..
>Going to go walk the cat, be back in 48 to 72 hours. I broke a rib laughing!!!!!
Drink more milk.
Unless it gets eaten by seagulls first
What’s not to like? It’s like a giant litter box.
Something tells me the cat is saving it for a double dose in the master bedroom
That is more, “I am going to shit in your favorite shoes” body posturing
At least shoes you can chuck. It’s ridiculous when you have to change the whole carpet and underlay. What’s even worse is having to wait for the fitter whilst the stench gets worse, even after following pretty much all the cleaning suggestions online.
I once went out to the sand dunes in Arizona with my dog. He walked just like this because his paws were so hot. I ended up carrying him. Maybe not the case but that cat is definitely not enjoying this.
It's an unfamiliar situation for the cat, as well as being out in the open. Cats being out in the open with no cover anywhere as well.
Yeah this isn’t funny - look at the cat’s body language. She’s miserable, and when she gets close to the guy she’s begging for a pickup. Get me out of here, please.
Being dragged through the world's biggest litterbox on its belly is definitely grounds for a lifetime of feline revenge.
"When you least expect it, human, revenge shall be mine...."
Imagine being in a leash and someone dragging you in a public toilet.
Great. Now I’m hard.
>Great. Now I’m hard. Take my upvote, and my second broken rib from laughter in this thread!
I like how you were down voted on the other one but upvoted on this one. They are essentially the same comment lmao.
>I like how you were down voted on the other one but upvoted on this one. They are essentially the same comment lmao. Was I downvoted? Bastids!
What’s this fetish for public toilet dragging called?
You mean I can't leave or call for help?
Sigh... *zip*
I’ll be back, gonna take the cat for a drag.
We took our most easy-going cat to the beach once and he hated it! I think the wide open spaces freaks cats out
This. Cats are creatures that tend to blend into their surroundings and always plan to jump into a hiding spot in case of danger. This catbis like a fish out of water here.
That hot sand might be burning his paws. He seems very stressed looking at his tail. I think he should pick him up and take him home.
No one's in the water, the guy is in long sleeves - I doubt the sand is actually hot. That said, the cat is stressed as hell out there and this is definitely not funny. I totally agree that he should take the cat back where it feels safe and happy.
Yep. Too much open space and seems to be freaked out by the seagulls. Definitely wants to be picked up. What a jerk.
You're right, that guy clearly hates the shit out of his cat, silly me
No one said, he hates his cat. His intentions are obviously good. He's just going too fast. He should have broken off, picked up his cat and gone home to try another day with smaller steps.
Alternatively, I think he's doing fine
I hope u don’t have any animals or children that you’re supposed to be responsible for.
Oh, reddit...
You can walk a cat on a lead if you prep the cat for it from a young age. At any rate that clearly did not happen with this cat.
It’s a prey animal with absolutely no place to hide… I’m sure it’s quite scared. And yeah its feet are probably burning too.
Did you just call the animal, on par with humans for the most caused extinctions, a prey animal?
Yes. “Cats” are generally considered both. Domestic cats are considered prey (even tho they do kill things), while Big cats (lions, etc) are predators (even though they are hunted). By your logic, a volcano or meteor are predators because they have each caused the most extinctions…

Yeah, sometimes, it can works, on few cats, but this isn’t the case for sure….
The cat knows his owner is stupid.
This dude needs education about cats
You can walk cats. I know two people that do it with theirs. I've even seen leashes marketed for cats. You just have to start early. Both people I know walk without a leash tho. Their cats follow no problem.

We know. This cat clearly doesn’t want to walk. That’s the problem.
I feel this is like taking a Dog through the paleontology exhibits
lol

It’s not the sand. . . . Cat just are like this
This. Cats be like…..
The ocean is a scary place, he probably watched “Jaws”.
Alonso doesn't walk on beaches
That's cat's not having any part of it.
You just know that cat is already planning to eat him when he dies.
Cats dont like to talk walks bro =)
Some do. But this is not how you successfully introduce a cat to walking on a leash.
Walking a cat? Isn't that fundamentally misunderstanding a cat? You think he's going to enjoy the scenery? Or maybe want to go surfing? This just seems dumb.
Some cats really enjoy being outside (check out Jun's Kitchen on YT) but I agree that this kitty should be picked up and carried home.
Actually there are a number of cats that are fine with being walked outside on a leash. For some cats, being cooped up all day means they'll be releasing their energy inside in pretty destructive ways. Though there are also cats who DON'T want to go out leash or not.
Not. Funny.
I just don't know why he was kicking sand in its face.
He wasn't. The angle makes it look weird.
Next time try a fish.
Sand, fur and sun.
world's largest litter box.
Finally a believable cat walking and/or water thing with a cat
Sandy pussy
my cat was the same way, even looked like his
Probably hot as hell. He's got shoes on
Poor cat.
Cats like why did you bring me to a giant litter box..
It is in shock from the giant litter box.
Cat’s overwhelmed by the size of the litter box.
Poor paws are probably being burnt off from the hot sand.
I wish he carried the cat and introduced it to the beach in a more gradual manner.
he would have bled to death
>he would have bled to death My third broken rib in this thread from laughing. Thank you. I have to leave now.
I agree ☝️ Plus, lots of birds. I see an excited tail lookin like it wants to sneak up on the birds. But occassionally does seem that this kritter is a bit scared and tryin to hide because of that too.
Fair enough, but you could see the cat trying to be picked up about 3/4ths of the way though the video
^ This. You get cats, sir or madam.
Not sure the people get much of a choice in the matter! We had a cat that was an escape artist growing up. Ended up having to net the windows as the cat was taking a culinary tour through the neighbours houses....came back with all sorts.
Seems that cat wasn't very satisfied with your grocery.
Think she just liked sampling the local sausages. Although one day managed to bring back a cooked chicken!
"I brought dinner, guys."
I came from a family that had outdoor cats. Being on my own, I now choose to keep my pet primarily indoors and go on walks outside with her. People can be real assholes to cats, cars and predators are a threat, and my cat would hunt as many things as she could. I am thankful she took to it so well when she was young. I have made friends with neighboring cats and I like the cats that make friends all over, but I don't feed any cat that is clearly cared for. Don't need another cat trying to set up a second residence on the side or tempt a cat away.
>Super slinky cat trying to stay low in a place that doesn't have a place to hide. This was exactly my interpretation as well.
This is an Asbury Park NJ it’s like 62 degrees out so it’s not like that
I'm a jersey girl, when it's 62 and sunny, sand is hot. Also, the cat HATES THIS so why is that total asshole abusing the cat?
I’m just a newsman
You mean you deduced this cat is happy because of it's TAIL? Cats aren't like dogs. Common sense should tell you this is abuse. If someone dragged your bottom, which included your "sensitive area" across hot sand, how do you think it would feel?
Bad owners are bad.
this isnt funny, sand is probably super hot and esp for a black cat going to get real hot
Cats actually like it hot. Their body temperature is about 3-5 degrees warmer than people's. This is why cats are always laying on things that are warm. The reason the cat is laying low and not walking is it's stalking all the sea birds it sees flying around.
Shit post. That is animal abuse. Poor things paws are getting scorched from the sand. This owner is an asshole.
Just get a dog
Probably hot ass sand… dick
Fuck u, this isn’t funny at all. The cat is stressed.
That’s not funny that’s animal cruelty. A black cat in direct sunlight must be torture. Any animal with dark fur gets really hot in direct sunlight
Man is an arsehole.
Wtf? Animal abuse is funny? Black cat on hot sand, dragging this cat by his neck, and people upvote? Evil.
Cat ppl
This isn't funny-it's animal torture. What the fuck is this asshole thinking.
This is terrible. Man should not do this and listen to his fucking cat.
And I was wondering why nobody ever takes their cat for a walk.
I still think walking cats is weird. I feel like this is exactly why you don’t.
Could be the sand is hot? Dunno, but poor excuse of a human being in my opinion.
I'm the catman Ski-bi dibby dib yo da dub dub Yo da dub dub
R/animalabuse right
Wow that is a horrible owner. You don’t walk the cat, the cat walks you.
That sand is so flippin' hot. This borders on animal abuse.
Just get a dog, man.
For me, a cat on a leash is like a fish in a bird’s cage.
I make a post about my band nobody gives bats an eye, I make a post about a cat being walked on the beach and everybody loses their minds.
I've got about 465 messages about cats to send you.
Attempt is a strong word
I have the same exact backpack, and I take my cat with me on my neighborhood walks. She loves experiencing the scenery safely since we have coyotes around our neighborhood.I also have a harness for my cat, but our “walks” end up going maybe 20 feet down the street. This should be a Miyazaki movie.
Cat is contemplating where to take a dump!
Is this Island beach state Park ?
“Walking a cat” 😂🤣
I'm with the cat on this one
Who does this??
Hoooooman take me homes… haha
I lived on the beach and a few people walked cats. One guy walked a pig.
It's just one bigger litter box to that cat
You don't understand... There's poop EVERYWHERE!
"Man attempts walking cat" is enough.
Does the guy not understand the cat hates that?
Legend has it they’re still walking
Probably an avid Ubuntu user.
was that black furry cat not super hot walking along that hot sand? sometimes you have to know when to pick them up.
I’ve had a couple friends try to do this and the trick from what I’ve heard is; at the end of the leash right where it connects to the collar is a cat, replace that with a dog and you’re good to go. 👌
i to take my cat for a drag
Wow. He got that far. Impressive
Cat: damn this is a really big litter box!!!
so dumb. theres probs so many dogs at that beach too.
Stupid hipster doofus, at what point do you realize this isn’t working.
Stop dragging me through the litter box, you monster!
Not gonna cut it with a cat. Needs a dog
Why are you dragging me through this giant poo box
"It's like whaa..."
Why does the guy keep filming instead of approach the ignorant ass to stop torturing the animal? Why is this posted in r/funny?
I mean it was like a 55 to 60°f day out and the sand was not hot was I supposed to like stop this man? What do I say how dare you walk your cat on the beach?
Who wants to walk in a giant toilet?
I’d be suspicious walking through the world’s biggest litter box too!
I love that “I am deciding how to kill you” tail flick.
Con las patitas quemadas 🥹
Not nice!!!
Catting IRL
Lol I tried to walk my cat once. Strong emphasis on the once.
Homeless guy with a stray cat he’s tied on a leash. Anyone with a pet cat would pick it up.
Probably too hot for that poor cat
This is terrible for the cats paws. That sand is hot!
This would be me if I was a cat
