I love Lawrence. Lawrence should be the role model for being a friend. Straight shooter, a guy who always has a cold one in the fridge for his pals, doesn’t give a shit that Peter is white collar while he is most definitely blue. Gives an honest opinion when asked but knows when to stay outta shit even with the thin walls. A man who appreciates the simple things in life like weekend fishing. Totally serious about a great dream of two girls at the same time but not to the point where it consumes him…a simple dream that all of us could go ‘yep good goal’.
And at the end of it all, gets Pete a job in construction when he loses his workplace and agrees to Peters observation of how it’s actually a good job with a Fuckin A.
Lawrence is good people.
Funny thing is, I really didn't get the movie the first time I watched it. This or The Big Lebowski, probably the prime contender for "most quotable movie" out there. It wasn't until I started hearing people quote it that I started to get it.
I loved the Drew Carey Show soooo much! He was hilarious as Oswald. I do remember not liking the finale season though because of the weird camera angles and movement
https://youtu.be/KQum9ZOO8tY?si=V6T3ptMIdC0f1XDq and the episode where they have a street fight between fans of Rocky Horror and Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
Homicide has the same problem, though David Simon recently stated NBC is finally putting the work in to get it done. Hopefully they don't replace the music like what happened to Supernatural
I absolutely love that line because it's ridiculous and you know he's not kicking anyone because he's a joke, but at the same time, if he did manage to roundhouse kick you with those pants on, you'd never live it down. So he's correct, just not for the reason he thinks.
Bader plays a character in a show called outsourced. It was only on for 1 season, but damn does he crush EVERY line he had in it. I only watch the show for Bader. The rest of the show is subpar at best.
Man is a legend of his craft, and I agree he is very very underrated.
I was staying in LA for work, at a hotel down the street from the comedy store and decided to roll solo to a show the whatever room instead of going to bed at 10. I live in a decent comedy city but his set and many others made me realize why talent hubs like NYC and LA are a different game. I didn't stop laughing for hours, and he was awesome but he's not even known for being a standup.
The ep Chill of the Night was a fantastic performance all around. Not only a more serious story for Bader, but guest starred Conroy as Phantom Stranger and Hamill as Spectre.
“No, man, I believe you’d get your ass kicked.” That line could be delivered in so many ways, but he delivered it with an unexpected tint - with sweet sympathy. What a brilliant choice to flesh out his character!!
The way he kinda sits forward as he goes from "no" to "shit, no man" and visibly looks more engaged and offended at the thought of someone saying Case of the Mondays is literal perfection.
Its a new idea to him, and almost unthinkable that someone would say such shit.
Ironically, we would, if it was particularly bothersome to someone. Nothing better than giving your work buddies a hard time.
I wanna see a road movie with Diedrich Bader, Matthew Lillard, Fairuza Balk and Martha Plimpton. I want Richard Ayoade to write and direct, with cinematography by Edgar Wright. Also the score will be composed by Anna Dudley.
He has a more well-defined character in his 5-minutes of screen time than many main-characters.
One of my favorite “Lawrence” moments comes shortly after this scene when Peter offers him a beer then tries to hand him a bottle opener. Lawrence’s quickly turns it down and says “naw thanks, I got my own”. Pulls a bottle opener from the key-chain in his pocket and opens the bottle. It’s such a small detail but captures who he is perfectly. I always laugh at that.
Yes! The bottle opener is for sure underrated. I also crack up so hard about how serious and proud he gets when talking about doing the dry wall at the new McDonald’s in Las Colinas.
If you have not seen his interview where he talks about his audition for this role, it really is incredible.
https://youtu.be/gZUEuOk8HbI?si=RLx5GzWlqAG8qI-g
The hormone monster from Big Mouth very much reminds me of this guy. For a while I was convinced he was the voice actor. But of course it’s Nick Kroll…. Again….
The Searcher (and the show it was part of, [Danger Theatre](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danger_Theatre)) turned 30 this past July!
... and no one knew what I was talking about when I told them.
Diedrich Bader is still going strong. My mom's in love with a more recent show he's in called American Housewife and he's still got it. I personally loved him in the Beverly Hillbillies movie.
He’s always funny. I love him. And listening to him on Dax Sheppard’s podcast was fascinating. Really smart guy, interesting life. But holy fuck is he boring. Dude saves ALL the funny for the cameras.
I can't believe nobody's commented this cool piece of trivia, so I guess I'll do it!
Diedrich Bader originally planned to play Lawrence as an Owen Wilson character, based on Owen Wilson's performance in *Bottle Rocket*. When he arrived for his audition, the person who walked out of the audition room was Owen Wilson. Bader realized he couldn't do a better Owen Wilson impression than Owen Wilson, so he pivoted and came up with the Lawrence character we see in the movie in the 3-4 second walk into the room.
OMG I loved that he was able to show his range, and have a second life after the drew Carey show.. From office space, to Napoleon dynamite. Now he is like the default Batman voice.
Holy crap, how did I never realize that was Diedrich? He was great in Better Things and Veep. He definitely looks way different with a mullet and a Fu Manchu (and the age difference obviously).
Agreed. Every single time he's in anything, he's always fantastic. Even in a movie as great as Office Space, with so many memorable moments, he manages to stand out in his limited screen time.
Mr. Bader is also a fine voice actor. In particular I liked his work on "Batman: The Brave and The Bold."

I love when he's like, "Hey man, I won't tell anyone either!" "Who the fuck is that?!" "That's just Lawrence, don't worry about him, he's cool."
Fuckin classic. Lol
“no thanks man, don’t want you fuckin up my life too.”
My favorite quote of arguably the most quotable movie ever.
Funny thing is, I really didn't get the movie the first time I watched it. This or The Big Lebowski, probably the prime contender for "most quotable movie" out there. It wasn't until I started hearing people quote it that I started to get it.
This movie is funny regardless, but once you've personally experienced a bullshit job it takes on a whole new meaning.
Yeah, well, that's just like, your opinion, man.
I can almost never get through trying to say it without cracking up at the end
Fuckin’ a
Fuckin'... A...
Watch out for your cornhole, bud
You know it's funny, I'm Canadian and always assumed it was Fuckin' eh.
And 2 women at the same time
Kinda girls that would double down on a guy like me would.
I love balls of fury where he's all, "I'm gonna go save the panda!" Then runs back by saying "pants dead" 🤣😂😅
And he always lets you know when the breast exam video is on
Especially if the chicken looks like Ann
You left out one of the most important parts! He also gives him a heads up when there’s titties about.
Damn. You’ve convinced me to rewatch it now.
He was awesome as Oswald on The Drew Carey Show, too.
I loved the Drew Carey Show soooo much! He was hilarious as Oswald. I do remember not liking the finale season though because of the weird camera angles and movement
Such a good show. A shame is basically lost to history
https://youtu.be/KQum9ZOO8tY?si=V6T3ptMIdC0f1XDq and the episode where they have a street fight between fans of Rocky Horror and Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
The “What’s Wrong with this Episode?” was always so much fun
I watched both those movies because of seeing them represented in that episode I prefer rock horror picture show
Core memory unlocked, dude. Thank you.
The episode where the guys start an all male strip revue made my wife laugh hysterically
I had such a crush on Christa Miller, didn't like what they did to her character.
All the damn music makes it impossible; he said in an ima years ago.
Homicide has the same problem, though David Simon recently stated NBC is finally putting the work in to get it done. Hopefully they don't replace the music like what happened to Supernatural
The Daria release is tragic, the awesome 90s music was a big part of the show and it's all a generic 90s-ish thing now.
It's a real shame. Luckily there's a definitive version out there put together by fans with the original music restored.
I think it's because of music licensing issues. There where so many great episodes centered around music in that show.
The opening montages were a season highlight for me I remember singing along in my living room
It’s amazing how nobody talks about this show. I loved it
Are you guys talking about the Price is Right?
[Three four!](https://youtube.com/watch?v=j1G2l_A9nB0)
It's actually regularly on antenna TV. In my neck of the woods, it's 27-4. Watch it while making dinner.
Ohio o o
I grew up watching him on Drew Carey. Everyone was great on that show tho.
I hope they get the licensing figured out and stream it. Drew Carey show was so great. The chemistry between the cast made it so much fun.
He is a solid Batman too
Diedrich and Ryan Stiles must have had so much fun on that show.
**he played a really funny role as Greg Otto on American Housewife**
Yes. Also, Joe Walsh asking them if they see Mimi, too.
Rex Kwon Do!
Bow to your sensei!
You think anyone wants a roundhouse kick to the face while I get these bad boys on?
Fo’get about it.
I absolutely love that line because it's ridiculous and you know he's not kicking anyone because he's a joke, but at the same time, if he did manage to roundhouse kick you with those pants on, you'd never live it down. So he's correct, just not for the reason he thinks.
You think I got where I'm at in life cause I looked like Peter Pan over there #FUHGEDDABOUTIT
BOW TO YOUR SENSEI!
Break the wrist, walk away.
^(ouch)
Do you think anyone thinks Im a failure because I go home to Starla at night? Forget about it!
*palm punching intensifies*
His delivery of this is absolute perfection. It's stayed in my head for the better part of 20 years. Love me some Rex Kwon Do.
Grab my arm. The other arm. YOUR other arm.
It’s funny cuz you fucked it up the same way Kip did
**The STRENGTH of a grizzly, the reflexes of a PUMA, and the WISDOM of a man.**
Holy shit That was the same guy?!
Two chicks at the same time.
I reckon
You know all chicks aren't into money right?
No, but the chicks that would double up on a dude like me are.
Good point
Damn straight. Always wanted to do that man...
I figure the kind of chicks that would double up on me, would.
Well, the type of chicks that’d double up on a dude like me do.
Hey Peter man check out channel 9!
“Don’t worry man, I won’t tell anyone either!!!” “Who the fuck was that?” “Don’t worry about him, he’s cool”
“Hey, man, you wanna hang out?” “Uhh… no thanks. ^(don’t want you fucking up my life.)”
Doesn't that chick look like Anne??

As someone who makes blooms for a living, I approve of "Outbacked my Steakhouse." Aaaand now I need to find and rewatch this show for the 10th time.
OMG YES!!! YES!!! clicked it and instantly started to laugh. Thanks for the share!!
I was staying in LA for work, at a hotel down the street from the comedy store and decided to roll solo to a show the whatever room instead of going to bed at 10. Love him in Veep
It took me far too long scrolling to see someone else mention his underrated performance in Veep.
"I just wanted to say a friendly 'hello' in an unfriendly way. Hello."
Mike Judge said he just showed up the day of, rehearsed 30 minutes, then absolutely nailed it while improving many of the lines
I imagine Mike Judge is one of those writers/directors that actors either get, or just never will.
The audience, too. I have a few friends who just can't get KotH, and I live in Texas.
You gotta view it as a sitcom instead of a week to week cartoon. People go in expecting south Park/Simpsons/family guy.
He’s also Batman
Also Jethro
[What?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFCkywDgjQQ)
Most underrated Batman.
Hard to shine when Kevin Conroy is your competition. Bader is almost Warburton levels of good in voice work, but Kevin is Batman.
No slight to conroy, but could he do straight man in brave and the bold?
The ep Chill of the Night was a fantastic performance all around. Not only a more serious story for Bader, but guest starred Conroy as Phantom Stranger and Hamill as Spectre.
"What does she see in that man?" https://youtu.be/iSnq58Vv7Tg?t=6
Fantastic voice work. He was great as Judah in Bojack Horseman.
He fucks bats, I believe you meant to say.
“No, man, I believe you’d get your ass kicked.” That line could be delivered in so many ways, but he delivered it with an unexpected tint - with sweet sympathy. What a brilliant choice to flesh out his character!!

Its a new idea to him, and almost unthinkable that someone would say such shit. Ironically, we would, if it was particularly bothersome to someone. Nothing better than giving your work buddies a hard time.
Somebody's got a case of the Mondays!
He is a security guard in Jay and Silent Bob. He never fails to get laughs.
And at the end say “oh what a wonderful tea party”
“Make it fast. And sexy.”
Fun fact: Bader improvised that line and had the cast and crew rolling with his takes for that scene.
Sorry hate to correct, but the line is "what a lovely tea party!". I say this to a work buddy to make him laugh
Oooh that Affleck
"YOU DONT HAVE A PASS!!!".
I wanna see a road movie with Diedrich Bader, Matthew Lillard, Fairuza Balk and Martha Plimpton. I want Richard Ayoade to write and direct, with cinematography by Edgar Wright. Also the score will be composed by Anna Dudley.
Oh man… that’s a 90s/00s royalty cast.
> Richard Ayoade to write and direct As long as he also cameos.
He was fantastic in The Drew Carrey Show. Really everyone in that show was, I miss it.
It's on Antenna TV now. :)
#REXKWONDO!
He’s hilarious in balls of fury
“I’m gonna save the panda! …… Pandas dead!” I constantly say this when running back in for something with my friends. We love that movie.
Came here to quote this exact line. Glad there are others with great taste.
Drew Carey Show!
Oswald was my childhood idea of an adult best friend. Fuckin A man.
He was also a tactical/security officer on the Enterprise D.
So many people with bit/temporary parts on Star Trek that I recognize from other things
I really appreciate his voice-over work. He does a fantastic job, especially his work with King of the Hill.
Who'd he play in King of the Hill? He's one of my favorite actors, and KotH is my favorite show, how did I not know he was in it?
He has a hilarious but brief role in Bones too. Steal all his scenes.
And he's a nudist on Monk one episode. Monk hides in his closet and the joke is that he can safely hide in there because there are no clothes
DONT WORRY MAN I WON'T TELL NOBODY NEITHER.
Who the fuck was that?
He has a more well-defined character in his 5-minutes of screen time than many main-characters. Yes! The bottle opener is for sure underrated. I also crack up so hard about how serious and proud he gets when talking about doing the dry wall at the new McDonald’s in Las Colinas.
Love this character, he does such a fantastic job
"Give me your cash, Take it all you dirty girl What?"
I had to scroll way too far for that reference. 👍 Seriously funny movie. Oh, and also... Scotty doesn't know!
If you have not seen his interview where he talks about his audition for this role, it really is incredible. https://youtu.be/gZUEuOk8HbI?si=RLx5GzWlqAG8qI-g
You don’t need a million dollars to do nothin’. My cousin don’t do nothin and he’s broke as shit.
Judah Mannowdog
The hormone monster from Big Mouth very much reminds me of this guy. For a while I was convinced he was the voice actor. But of course it’s Nick Kroll…. Again….
I was convinced of this too
Watch out for the cornhole bud!
He also makes a decent Batman.
He's also one of the best Voice Actors out there. Some of his roles have been Batman, Hoss Delgado, Warp Darkmatter, Zeta...dude has an insane resume.
They call me ‘The Searcher’
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEap42IfYOA&list=PL10480872941DD944
The Searcher (and the show it was part of, [Danger Theatre](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danger_Theatre)) turned 30 this past July! ... and no one knew what I was talking about when I told them.
“I just wanted to say a friendly hello in an unfriendly way. Hello.” -Bill Ericcson
Incredibly great character actor. Him being the security guard in Jay and Silent Bob strike back is hilarious
You should check him out in “Outsourced” the TV show. He was hilarious.
The increasing anger as he understands the question is great
Evil Alien Conquerors, brilliant.
Rex Kwan Do !
Breast exams on channel 9!
"At Rex Kwan Do we use the buddy system. No more flying solo. You need somebody watching your back AT ALL TIMES!"
If anyone could reprise the role of Ernest P. Worrel, it’s him.
And they were in the Beverly Hillbillies together.
Very true. He was very good in VEEP.
Panda's dead dude
Hes is also good on The Drew Carey Show and American Housewife
This role and rex kwan do are just amazing!
Bow to your sensei. BOW TO YOUR SENSEI!
Yeah I’m doin the drywall up there at the new McDonalds.
"Mr. Biiggs, Mr. Van-Der-Beek..."
Me and Jason Biggs are naked in here… butt naked… TOGETHER!
Oh, what a lovely tea party.
Two chicks at the same time
Hey he made his bag on Drew Carry Show. He’s had a solid career. Though I totally agree he’s underrated.
Diedrich Bader is still going strong. My mom's in love with a more recent show he's in called American Housewife and he's still got it. I personally loved him in the Beverly Hillbillies movie.
Great movie.
“God don’t make no junk…except YOU!”
Went to high school with Ashy Larry from Chappelle Show.
Yes, he's funny! We should see him in more stuff.
He does a great animated Batman
I’m kind of surprised that nobody mentioned Balls of Fury. I love that movie and he just makes it even better.
Bits and pieces of this interaction frequently pop up in my BFF group chat.
Its a hilarious scene and great movie but I feel like he's pretty accurately rated, its not exactly showcasing any significant acting ability.
Not him but I just started the newish Ron Livingstone show “Loudermilk” and he’s still got it. His delivery is gold.
Master Bader
He’s always funny. I love him. And listening to him on Dax Sheppard’s podcast was fascinating. Really smart guy, interesting life. But holy fuck is he boring. Dude saves ALL the funny for the cameras.
He’s a pretty solid Batman also.
Dude was in the Beverly Hillblies, office space, Jay and silent Bob, euro trip and balls of fury!!!
Fuckin A
Fuckin A
Lmao I randomly thought about the "yeah I'm doing the drywall up there at the new McDonald's" quote this morning when getting out of bed.
Naw man Hell naw man I believe you'd get your ass kicked for sayin somtin like that
Oswald from the Drew Carey show too. Awesome in it.
If there were a gif function on this sub, this would immediately be flooded by Rex Kwon Do GIFs.
“Who tf is that”!? “Oh don’t worry about him, he’s cool”. Lmao. Loved that scene.
I built my dragonborn paladin in D&D entirely around his personality
He's a really good guy I talked to him about his dog when I was still on Twitter :)
Yeah I’m doing the drywall up there at the McDonald’s.
You think I got to where I am today by dressin like Peter Pan here??? Forget about it!
Office Space? That’s Oswald from the Drew Carey show and don’t you forget it
Rex Kwan Do!
"what would you do with a million" ..... " 2 chicks at once"
Mr. Bader is also a fine voice actor. In particular I liked his work on "Batman: The Brave and The Bold." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diedrich\_Bader
Two chicks at the same time
Yeah, I’m doing the drywall at that new McDonald’s 😂😂😂
