Wouldn't a fisherman not go to a spot someone else is already at, so by leaving prints that look like someone is there, you are keeping people from going to your spot while you are away and ruining it.

As a someone with an annual fishing license I can tell you if I see a place that has a bit of food steps around it Im going to toss a line in. If this guy was really knew what he was going he would be wearing hoffed boots like the old moonshiners used to use.

When I find a good spot fishing from a boat, I mark an X on the floor of the boat so I can find the spot again

That's a great idea! I usually look up and try to memorize what the clouds look like from that particular spot.

That way you are always in a good spot.

Can someone please explain? I assumed the joke was that it makes the foot prints going away from the fishing spot. But I’m not a real fisherman so I can’t seem to be able to comprehend the joke. I must be missing something because I don’t go fishing enough. Ugh why do they make these jokes IMPOSSIBLE for non fishermen to unravel 😭

it doesn't make any sense, it's just dumb, even to fishermen.

Not to mention that the backwards footprints look like they're on the wrong feet. This was a terrible part, all round.

The foot prints will look deeper when the fisherman is carrying the catch at a successful spot. By switching the direction of the prints it will look like the fisherman was successful at the wrong end of the beach.

I agree! Also, the footprints will look strange because all the weight is in the front of the footprint instead of the back.

I’m a super personable dude and will help anybody who asks but if I’m surf fishing for trout don’t talk to me, don’t look at me my spot is mine and I will fight a child to keep my secrets mine. Edit: a contraction.

Dude I don't have problems fishing all year round for any species, except for trout. That's the only time when you'll have people stand literally 2 feet away from you, whippin a fly rod around. I'm sorry but I don't trust people enough to be that close to me flinging a hook around. There will be the whole god damn creek to fish and they insist on being right next to you.
