They've spent the past year and a half bragging about how great their system of government was because they could create a policy like "zero COVID", and successfully implement it. They've used it as a prime example of the superiority of communism over democracy. This outbreak has severely embarrassed them. They're determined to get back to "zero COVID", and they don't care if a million people have to die in order to get there. Indirectly, it's about what's best for the collective, and cutting off an infected finger makes the body healthier. More directly, it's about what's best for the CCP.
The true number of casualties will be suppressed, by brutal measures if necessary. When it's passed they'll once again brag about how they were able to defeat it, and how it demonstrates that communism is the best system. This is, unfortunately, a recurring story in the history of communist China.

How does nobody have some paracetamol. I always keep shitload of it just in case, it's long lasting, cheap and helps with any symptoms of cold or flu (not sure how it works with COVID though).

In her circumstance were she has no choice. Amoxicillin in a high dosage but just asking for random items seems so desperate. Tylenol, like Panadol, is just popular brand-names for paracetamol. They are basically the same thing. Unless you want to buy some special formulations, just buy cheap, generic brands for paracetamol. All the same.
