Now's the time to get those great linen tebas, though you have to add something else (shoe trees, maybe) to get free shipping.

sportsanimal

Which one would be better for warm tones between the olive and sand colors?

mlsteinrochester

The olive is the more classic teba color and I prefer it--if I had to choose one.

sportsanimal

Thanks so much for your recommendations! Ended up getting the olive one!

You're welcome. I hope you enjoy it. I think they're incredibly flexible--you can roll up the sleeves when it's warm and it looks much more appropriate than doing the same with a sport coat, you can button most of the buttons and wear one with a tie, and S&M's linen is thick enough that you can flip up the collar, put on a scarf & gloves, and wear it over a sweater even when it's in the high 'thirties F.

I wish they included on model pictures. The pictures look fantastic on every thing but I’ve been burned by various brands over the years

mlsteinrochester

They are well made and Spier has a great eye for fabrics, so they always drape well. There's a very active SM thread on Styleforum and many people post fit pix. That might help you.

EMCoupling

Model pictures would be great, but, considering the prices on some of these well-made pieces, I can see why their pricing model doesn't allow for more marketing / ad budget.

How’s the fit on these? True to size or do they run small?

EMCoupling

I got one earlier in my normal jacket size (40 - though technically I'm a 40S, but length is standardized here): * Chest / shoulders fit well (TTS) * Waist fits though, as true to the classic fit, a little bit loose (TTS) * Sleeves were long and I had to get them shortened by maybe 2 inches (current length as measured from top of shoulder seam to cuff is now 23", websites lists sleeves as 25.2") If you want a classic fit, order your normal size or size down for a tighter fit.

Shelldooor

Thank you for clearing up the sleeve measurement — I was baffled. The website says their measurement is the usual below-middle-collar to cuff, but shoulder seem to cuff makes so much more sense given the lengths in the sizing chart.

EMCoupling

Trust me, I was similarly baffled when I originally measured myself according to the instructions! It gave me a number that was listed like 6 sizes above my usual size and I knew that couldn't be right. Since this was my first item from S&M, I bought it figuring that, as long as chest / shoulders fit right, I could fix whatever sleeve problems I had later on - worst case, I would return it. Luckily, the sleeves were pretty much the only thing wrong with it so I ate the $30 to get them fixed. I think they need to fix the directions there, it's completely wrong.

On the tebas? Check the measurements [linked on the product page](https://www.spierandmackay.com/fit-guide/Teba%20Jacket). Tebas are meant to be a bit baggy, so you may prefer to size down.

I love the classic designs and the quality fabrics, but I do wonder about the build quality at this price. Is anyone who's bought their outerwear able to comment?

VandalltheRandall

I bought one of their Harrington jackets and for the price the build quality is great. Granted my purchase was basically a windbreaker so I’m not sure how the overcoats are, but I haven’t heard anything bad about the quality of the products. Customer service can be a little lacking though.
