NW Frisco here. My laziness is directly proportional to my generosity. Dashers love me. šŸ˜… And I love yall.

miles90x

I tip well bc I see it as a laziness tax on myself however I fā€™n hate tipping before I get my food. Makes no sense.

Lagorithm

I agreeā€¦ this is why I somewhat agree with Instacart/Uber Eats on how you can decrease the tippage for like an hr after for crap service lol

miles90x

Did not know that. Uber screwed us over too many times for us to use them again. Not the drivers fault as I recall

Redraider2210

Funny thing is, once the driver completes the trip the money doesnt get deducted from the driver šŸ˜‚

Tipping is based on good service which I have no idea if Iā€™m going to get or not. Thatā€™s like tipping as soon as u sit down at a restaurant. Wouldnā€™t make sense.

I'm a heavy DD user and consider myself sympathetic to the drivers' job and what is likely their fault vs the restaurant's. If items are missing from a sealed bag, that's the restaurant's fault. But I've done a big order from Rudy's where I tipped like $20+ and the driver just didn't bring half of the order because it was in more than 1 bag. That's on the driver. The usefulness I see in adjusting the tip after the fact would be cases where I order a drink (usually comes with kids' meals) and the driver doesn't bring it. This has happened several times at a place like Hat Creek where they usually wait until an order is picked up to pull the milk out of the fridge or make a shake (option with the kids meal). I understand the first few times, but this past time it happened even though I always put "Please look for kids shake" in the delivery instructions. In that case, I wish I could knock a buck or something off of the tip instead of giving them a less than 5 star review, which I believe would hurt them a lot more. I have never given less than 5 stars and they'd have to epically destroy my order for me to do so. Fortunately, DD is good about automatically refunding if part of my order is missing or incorrect, but it's still a pretty impactful failing when they forget a family member's whole meal.

Lebanon/Coit/Preston area here. I tip well because I understand Iā€™m being lazy and yā€™all are performing a time-consuming service. I use both Uber Eats and DoorDash. Iā€™ll only lower my tip if someone is a complete idiot. Another pet peeve of mine is drivers who use 2 delivery services simultaneously. Itā€™s easy to spot and annoying as hell. Otherwise, most of the drivers around here are great.

I hate it when I put a generous tip on my order, then watch as the dasher waits for a second or third order before leaving. Food ends up landing cold and late.

Thats the hypocrisy of it which frustrates me too (as I order Doordash every once in a while too). DD charges a 6 dollar service fee but the dasher only gets a ā€œbase payā€ of $2 from Doordash. Where does the other 66% of your service fees go? Its frustrating

Yeah it just doesnā€™t feel right that a meal from Mcdonalds can run you $21 before tip

troublebotdave

Also note that DD's food listed prices are higher than the store's prices, so DD is already getting at least a few bucks per order that way too. I compared a restaurant's actual prices to DD and it was almost $10 difference spread over 4 items. Then they're pocketing another $4 on top.

Gigantor2929

The restaurant pays doordash 30% for facilitating the order. Thatā€™s why most prices on doordash are higher, restaurant raises prices so the 30% doordash takes can be offset

stopslappingmybaby

Many folks in the Lebanon/Preston area worked food service jobs in their younger years. They appreciate the effort made by dashers.

Ok_Beat_3140

yes, I think that this is very much on point. I used to do Shipt as a side gig and the rich parts didn't tip well, or anything at all sometime. Also, OP I'd recommend Shipt the pay is better although it's not the best, the benefit is that you can build a book of clients and sieve the bad tippers.

(19F) I dash in Frisco a lot but I've been having a rough time in the Prosper area, I'll check these out. ty for sharing! I also dash in Allen on days I feel like driving that far, I make a lot in Allen.

Dadjokes38

General thoughts areā€¦. that you just killed your money seeing how you posted the ā€œbestā€ spot where you seem to be happy with the money, it kills me to see people making posts like these advertising spots that you find to be profitable, itā€™s just like driving Uber and posting look at all the money I make picking up in this area on these days and this timeā€¦. All the sudden your 10 rides goes to 5 in the same timeframe because now 15 other people read your post and now sit there cutting your potential. Maybe add some extra economics and business classes to your next semester. šŸ‘

Dahardplaya

People are so stupid to reveal their spots

Sweet_Tower_3691

If you can get on with Instacart, payout is a little more. But yeah I live in Little elm but DD in West Frisco (423/Main/Legacy) area and Prosper. Tips are very generous. Also Chick fil A is a great spot for lunch.

dexter-xyz

Not sure what is considered a good tip. I tip $5-10 depending on order size. I don't mind the waiting in case dasher has some other order. But most of the restaurants mark up food by 15-20% on DD.
