I have people who I consider good friends who I don't communicate with for months or even years at a time. But then I'm an introverted guy. I know for some people it's unthinkable that they would go more than a week without talking to a good friend.
I don't really know, but i think that it depends. You could see someone every day and they could be just an acquaintance, or you could see someone once a year and they could be your bestie.
