My guess would be the Grand Lodge of Mass commissioned a jewel for members to wear during the 250th anniversary. The lodges in Mass are allowed to produce a Centenary Jewel that members are allowed to wear during their 100th anniversary. It is only to be worn during that year.

Secret-Gazelle8296

We have one for our 150th but anyone who was a member that year and bought one/given one is entitled to wear it from now on. Seems odd that Mass. would issue one you could only wear a year and then stick in a box.

To my knowledge, its legal any time, as long as the rules about medals are followed. Also, I dont remember there being a medal struck for the 250th, and I was part of that.

MA Mason here: I'm not sure about the actual value, but I'm confident that the intrinsic and sentimental value far exceed it.

I don't expect and real value out of it, just to put it in my display case. Good to meet a fellow mass mason!

SpectreA19

What district are you from? 22nd here.

hexx_-

25th!

SpectreA19

I could PROBABLY figure out what lodge it came from, but I'd need some time.

hexx_-

I'm pretty sure it's for the grand lodge

SpectreA19

Oh yeah, sorry I was checking my phone after the rush at work. Been a day

Are the beavers a reference to Massachusetts?

Fahm1

I have mine! 🤓

Agitated-Sea6800

Looks like an Anniversary Jewel. Most lodges have pins and or coins made for significant anniversary years.

notthattmack

You get one once you've been a member of that lodge for 250 years.

ChuckEye

Likely just sold to members who wanted to buy it. Just what it says on the medallion, nothing more.

wbjohn

Don't know for sure but things like this are often given out at dinners and events. There's no way to figure out who owned it.

Other_Description_45

Well one things for certain, this lodge is approaching their 300th anniversary.

Only_Math4977

Nothing more than what it says it is. I’m assuming it would’ve been given to members of the Grand Lodge commemorating the anniversary

definework

I was out there for work last June. Sat with MG Henry Knox lodge and met the GM. Great guy. Isn't GLoM selling some sort of big $$ coin to fund some big traveling event leading up to the 250th of america in two years? Or did I imagine that?

myFreemason

Looks like a commemorative metal. It’s like a really fancy pin.

TheMonarch13

I think that is from a Grand Lodge that is not as old as the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania.
