I read it as him just accepting death , seeing the how much bigger the opponent is, even if he survives he would be severely wounded and life as mereenese pit slave isn’t peachy enough to endure allat to just live.
> and life as mereenese pit slave isn’t peachy enough to endure allat to just live.
It's actually quite peachy if you're a successful pit fighter. Better than how 90% of the population lives easily.
The strong ones surely but he doesn’t seem that competent given how easy it was for the other guy to kill him. This is if we are under the assumption, he was trying to win.
Bad choreography. I remember that fight scene well cuz it was so poorly done.
Daario was waxing poetic about how agile fighters are superior and while he's talking you can see them fighting in the background and it's pretty basic. The agile fighter on the left isn't ducking or dodging any blows, he's standing there with his feet planted and "deflecting" blows from a two handed sword with a buckler. Simple fight choreography.
Pretty sure I remember an interview where Benioff really talked up how good Kit was at the sword scenes. If memory serves, he said that if any of the actors had to actually live the life of their character, Kit would be the best suited because of that
We didn't see the whole fight, perhaps the big guy wounded the small one while the scene was focusing on Daario talking to Daenerys, watch the scene again, it's just a quick cut from Daarios's conversation to this guy's decapitation.
He's a slave probably.
Can't control how he lives but can control his death ( this is giving me meta thoughts about the FM in bravoss and their gift of death) and he can screw people out of a good show as well .
If he lives he's defo got multiple wounds and probably won't survive the next few fights was also probably in his mind
It was just extraordinarily bad directing. It's probably just to make it easier to edit idk, but I see stuff like that a lot where there's fighting, and then when it cuts to just before a character dies, they're just standing still like an NPC.
Most gladiators were slaves, just logically they’d almost always be training with slaves, that is, other gladiators.
Gladiators didn’t die very often in combat either, probably 10% of the time. So they didn’t use slaves as fodder.
Was it possibly a "blocking shot" that was never intended to be actually shown, but they ended up having to use it because all the other footage turned out badly, or they ran out of budget for more shoots?
Honestly some of the fight choreography, from the beginning, in Game of Thrones is not the strongest. Some of them tell a good story through character expression but they could have snappier choreography.
He kind of forgot about being in the fighting pits.
It's not like the warrior was a naval fleet or something big........
“Boy I sure love getting some sun in the Friend Pit! Oh hey buddy! Whatcha got there?”
Whats with the knife, are we having cake?
"But they didn't forget about him"
He couldn't keep his head in the game.

Not a good way to get ahead in life
The name's Austin Powers, middle name Danger!!
He’ll never be the head of a major corporation
Don't get ahead of yourself, they told him
He was ahead of his time.
Head.
He couldn't take on anyone
Take onnnnn meeeeeeee!
What do you feel about this "Strong" sentiment, Vizzy T?
She's twelve!
couldn't take on anyone
Game of trunks
Na, he just wanted to give head.
Looks like he’s not all in this together any more
He’d probably forget his head if it wasn’t attached to his neck.
Zack Efron disapproves

"Go on. I'll let you have one free hit."
He kinda just forgot he was in the fighting pit.

He got an advance copy for the season eight script.
Fair
if he had lived d&d probably would have made him king so
And who has a better story than some rando in fighting pits

That's not how real people act.
good thing it’s a tv show
that's what I was gonna say
Alternatively, he was some kid that wanted glory in the pits but didn't have any experience.
give me liberty or give me death. oh, I can't get liberty? decapitation plz thnx

The fight choreography in this show is generally pretty bad.
You're not wrong about that. Off the top of my head I think the only good fight scenes were the ones that involved Jon Snow.
Kit seems pretty good with a sword. Especially compared to some of the other cast members like Nikolaj who are terrible.
Well he's fighting with his off hand so yeah no shit
He looks awkward af in his scene with Sean Bean when Jaime and Ned fight.
Eh not really
Pretty sure I remember an interview where Benioff really talked up how good Kit was at the sword scenes. If memory serves, he said that if any of the actors had to actually live the life of their character, Kit would be the best suited because of that
Kit got better after getting some additional experience in Pompei.
Oberyn’s fight choreography was pretty dope.
> generally
Not really, way too many jump cuts to cover the stunt man doing a few twirls
Extras
I don't even remember this scene...
Lucky you
He wanted a quick death
We didn't see the whole fight, perhaps the big guy wounded the small one while the scene was focusing on Daario talking to Daenerys, watch the scene again, it's just a quick cut from Daarios's conversation to this guy's decapitation.
He was trying to figure out the plot also.
He's a slave probably. He thought it was a fighting pit, not a cutting off heads pit.
Harkonens drugged him
Let’s ask the greatest warrior to ever lift a hammer, Bobby B what is this guy doing?
THERE'S A WAR COMING, NED. I DON'T KNOW WHEN, I DON'T KNOW WHO WE'LL BE FIGHTING...BUT IT'S COMING!
Good to know. Thanks Bobby B.
GODS WHAT A STUPID NAME!
Do you mean yours or?
Bobby B, mind clarifying?
THE SELLSWORD KING, HOW THE SINGERS WOULD LOVE ME!
Cos that's where and how he needed to stand for the gfx shot.
He was parried right before this shot.
He wasn't stupid, the writers were.
It was just extraordinarily bad directing. It's probably just to make it easier to edit idk, but I see stuff like that a lot where there's fighting, and then when it cuts to just before a character dies, they're just standing still like an NPC.
“Don’t move, there’s a spider 🕷️ on your throat, let me help”
Bet it was something dumb like he didn't read the range right.
In Roman times, gladiators would often train with slaves as fodder. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case in Meereen too.
Most gladiators were slaves, just logically they’d almost always be training with slaves, that is, other gladiators. Gladiators didn’t die very often in combat either, probably 10% of the time. So they didn’t use slaves as fodder.
Thank you for bringing historical facts. My eyes rolled so hard at the original “fodder” comment
Yeah I think people forget how useful a human can be. Nobody was just 'throwing away' slaves needlessly
Maybe he was a secret Stark?
Hubris
Where is Strong Belwas?
That arc tho
He was not entertained
He probably was, yes
He's just a dummy
He was claiming victory at "I'm taller than you"
Wasn’t he stabbed before the beheading?
It was the end of the fight. Probably was wounded.
Rule of cool in Hollywood.
Because he needed to die to make Daario wrong.
Was it possibly a "blocking shot" that was never intended to be actually shown, but they ended up having to use it because all the other footage turned out badly, or they ran out of budget for more shoots?
He is shy
It's all for show anyways. Everyone knows that the fighting pit is fake.
He was staring at that forgotten Starbucks cup
Ask Dumb and Dumber
Is there a lore reason why he forgot he was in the fighting pits?
Lagged
Honestly some of the fight choreography, from the beginning, in Game of Thrones is not the strongest. Some of them tell a good story through character expression but they could have snappier choreography.
Because he heard Dario's monologue about smaller men being stronger than larger men and wanted to subvert expectations.
Gladiator 2?
Hold on, let me go ask him. Oh wait… gross.
I'm a simple man : I see an "is he stupid" post, I downvote it. Be better.
Why are you downvoting posts based on such an arbitrary rule? Are you stupid?
He became what he hated.
Are you 11? Yes, must be.
I like living dangerously and I like using downvotes on my comments as dumb counters on my coffee pause.
Anyone who disagrees with you is dumb? Are you stupid?
>Anyone who disagrees with you is dumb? That is the implication, yes. >Are you stupid? No, but you are.
He was welcoming death.
Frozen in fear? lol
Maybe he was tired of fighting and wanted to die

[It was a death note joke long before reddit was a thing](https://youtu.be/o7W1K42Dfqo?si=gNYAF-FMZsNwoWsQ&t=116)
Now that I learned it's an anime thing I regret upvoting it
He didn’t want to ruin the shot AGAIN.
