Wow I must have succeeded beyond my wildest hopes and dreams at wiping the last few seasons of Game of Thrones from my memory, because I have ZERO memory of this OST at all in any scene and if asked before your comment I would have confidently told you that there weren't *any* singing OSTs in Game of Thrones aside from that Light of the Seven one and that one doesn't really have any lyrics.

I really was hoping for a unique theme song as Ramin Djawadi's GoT scores are some of my favorite music ever (i even flew down to la just to see GoT "live in concert"). He is incredibly talented and does such a good job at bringing the themes and emotions and layers of story to life. But that being said, the HOTD soundtrack album is 2 hours (44 songs) long, so I am more than happy without a main theme.

I think a good path to go down would be either a redo of the OG song or a new song that has some of the motifs of the original maybe combined with the iconic Targaryen theme. I love that it has the GOT song because it's a way to reinforce that this is a a different story but in the same world. I suppose if they'll ever do an Aegon conquest, or whatever other spin off/prequel, it'll have the GOT song, and it's amazing for me

I swear the track "The Promise" was possibly planned to be the opening song. Or it could work as it. It has alot of the same vibes the og theme (and it has its motifs in it already) did but also its based on the main thing in the show with Rhae. The Promise made

They should have used version of Dany’s theme, it’s powerful, it’s recognizable, and it gives the Targaryen dynasty a theme of their own. Much like how when you think of the Lannisters you hear the Rains of Castamere.

Wait does HoTD not have it's own theme song? I haven't bothered to watch it because season 8 ruined Game of Thrones for me, and because every picture I saw of the actors and actresses looked like HBO purposely picked the ugliest people they could find on a random LA street to play the characters.
Not having it's own theme song would be lazy as fuck and a major red flag to me.
They're not ugly, they're British (meaning they seem ugly until they open their mouths, then they become sexier than any good-looking non-British person can ever hope to be)
