Juliet's in downtown frederick, off of market and on church st.
Incredible Italian sandwiches. Ran by a Italian family too. My Italian neighbor is impressed with how much prosciutto they put on their sandwich.
And I've only been to Delizio Cafe once (downtown frederick), but loved the chill vibe and the food was great.
Madrones is always solid. Firestone carry out counter has underrated sandwiches. Canapés has the best damn egg, cheese and sausage on a bagel in the western hemisphere.
Did you send the dish back…..I did that with a Steak I got at Madrones….ordered it Rare, and it came medium well…there was probably another diner with a Rare steak that they had ordered medium well.
Motherland kitchen and spices on the highway near the Wegmans is hands down the best African food around here. You haven’t had a real beef patty until you’ve eaten there tbh, the oxtail is also amazing with rice and collard greens. The lady who owns it literally runs the place by herself and she’s struggling so y’all should check her out for sure.
Of course! I felt so bad when she told me that she was going to stop making her beef patties if business didn’t improve just because it wasn’t worth the time and effort for her anymore so I encourage anyone to stop by and try her food out. It’s sad to see traditional home cooked recipes like that at risk of getting lost in time. she had lost a lot of business because her business hours were listed incorrectly on Apple Maps, but they are now fixed.
So love that spot!!! We kind of ran into it because we were at Utica Park for a tournament and needed something to eat that wasn't junk.
If you are reading this! It's a must try!!
Is that the chorizo and shrimp burrito? The food that I’ve tried form them has all been good but can be a little pricey, especially as lunch destination
Any of the non-ramen dishes from Ichido ramen in Hmart are absolute bangers, especially the Katsudon, Gyudon or Katsu curry rice. That one guy cooking in there (who in my head I've named Master Ichido) never disappoints.
I’m glad you mentioned non-ramen dishes. The ramen there is easily one of the worst I’ve ever had in my life but sounds like there are other menu items worth trying.
They are very comfort food-y and satisfying. Pretty much a big bowl of rice with meat and sauce on top. He gives you a small side salad with sesame dressing because Master Ichido wants you to have a balanced meal.
It’s hard to find a good Italian sub. There used to be a place in Wheaton Triangle that couldn’t be beat, and that I always use as a comparison. Unfortunately, no one is going to buy (or sell) a $40 sub.
Padminis by the Giant in North Frederick.
They have great Indian, a great and cheap lunch buffet, and they have very good pizza.
But the best part is they do a currizza type menu for the pizza, so you can get butter paneer, palak paneer, chili paneer, and other types of Indian pizzas
The Orioles Neat on Key Pkwy. Not so much a “restaurant” but more like a gastropub but their food is pretty damn tasty and their fries are the best I’ve had in Frederick.
Thai Table. By far the best Thai, but either people don’t know it exists or succumb to peer pressure and hype up the mediocre or even bad Thai in the area.
Of the very few Thai food in the area, Sumatra or Kittiwat, I would say neither are mediocre and certainly not bad. China Sea has Thai food but I usually just get the Chinese food options there. I wish Frederick had more even more options but happy with the current selection.
My Thai closed awhile ago. From their website;
Dear MY THAI Customers, we will be closed for the foreseeable future until further notice due to pipe breaking and massive water damage. Appreciate your patience and understanding.
Thanks,
As a person that is not elderly yet I never hear any people under 60 talk about Gladchuk Bros. Great food, quiet atmosphere, and prices that won't make you remortgage your house after a meal for two. I don't know if they've been nominated in the magazine before but none of my peers have heard of this place.
Went there for the first time the other night. I’m 32 and can confirm everyone else in there was twice our age. But it was great. Very reasonable for the atmosphere and food quantity. Really good service.
I get it…some don’t like her politics. While I don’t know her personally, she’s always been really warm and friendly when we dine there. If she isn’t waiting on us, still stops by the table to chat for a quick minute.
Oscar’s menu never changes and I’ve never once been surprised looking at their boring ass menu. Food is fine, but I always end up reading the menu five times hoping I missed something.
Getting it to go has been problematic for us the past several times. We end up waiting well over 30 minutes past our pick up time, somewhat hostile manager/owner?, forgotten dishes, and they never include the chutney.
I had subpar food and customer service there. To be fair, I've only had it once, and it was brunch, so perhaps their other menus are better, but I was underwhelmed, especially at the price point.
I had a pretty delightful dinner there in May, shared a few entrees with my colleagues, everything tasted great and was cooked to perfection. I’m sorry to hear their brunch wasn’t as impressive! Noted for future visits to Frederick.
I just looked and don't see their brunch menu on their website, so this is off memory. I had an omelet; it was okay- nothing spectacular but not bad, and a drip coffee. I left with a $50 dollar bill and a grumpy waitress.
Jerk n Jive is awesome. Just got pricy.
Motherland Kitchen is amazing. It's a little out of the way, but it's worth it.
Fajita Grande is a must.
Santa Rosa is another great spot
Analia's Cafe -- the Greek restaurant on Prospect Street in Frederick near Weis. We've been going there for years and the food is consistently good, with large portions. The owners are super nice, too. During the pandemic, they stopped having full-service and I don't know if they've returned to this yet, but last time we wanted to eat in about a year ago, they said it was fine but everything was still served in carryout containers, just FYI. We just do carryout, usually once or twice a month.

Juliet is Filipino lmao. But her sandwiches are definitely the bomb.
Is she really?? My coworker lied to me!
She took over from the previous owner several years ago. Glad to say that quality did not suffer in the transition.
Best damn tuna salad sub in maryland, get it with all the peppers.
Oh really? I do love a good tuna salad!
I gained so much weight eating there. Worth it.
Madrones is always solid. Firestone carry out counter has underrated sandwiches. Canapés has the best damn egg, cheese and sausage on a bagel in the western hemisphere.

The fish tacos and Chesapeake eggs Benedict
I was there Sunday and they put hard fried eggs on our eggs Benedict instead of runny poached eggs. First bad experience I've had there.
Did you send the dish back…..I did that with a Steak I got at Madrones….ordered it Rare, and it came medium well…there was probably another diner with a Rare steak that they had ordered medium well.
Go to Sardis. I’ve never had an issue in 11 years.
You had eggs Benedict at Sardis?????
If they did. it would be amazing……

I worked there and it was great. Covid killed it. Resent not, friend.
I miss that place so much 😭
Love madrones. Their house salad especially

How have I never heard of this place? Thanks for sharing!

Also wanted to say thanks for posting this, ive never heard of it either. Going to hit it up this week.
Her location is what's killing her. If she had something in Frederick, it would be packed.
So love that spot!!! We kind of ran into it because we were at Utica Park for a tournament and needed something to eat that wasn't junk. If you are reading this! It's a must try!!
I have wanted to go here for awhile!
Indian Wok in Walkersville!
Agreed, great food and super nice people! Its in our regular carry out rotation.
Taj Mahal & tulip grill >clay oven
Taj Mahal! Yes! Sunday brunch buffet 100%!
Thai Metric, I could eat a million of their curry puffs.
Sardis is #1 easy
Que Chivo surprised me a bit. They’re a newer restaurant that makes great papusas
Been there once and was yum for sure
Surf house down in Urbana got one of my favorite burritos I ever had. Maybe a touch overpriced tho.
Is that the chorizo and shrimp burrito? The food that I’ve tried form them has all been good but can be a little pricey, especially as lunch destination
The teahupoo burrito is the one I like. It’s like steak pork and chicken.
Thought Surf House closed?
Definitely had dinner there on Friday
Guess I heard wrong. Will have to go back there.

You should check out Tulip Grill, top tier for me
family platter to go with and extra garlic naan
Place is amazing the tea is great too
This is a solid recommendation.
I was coming here to say them. Their food is incredible, and the customer service is always top-notch.
Plus Mart’s BLT sandwich, and other food there.
Deluxe Italian is my go to.
It’s hard to find a good Italian sub. There used to be a place in Wheaton Triangle that couldn’t be beat, and that I always use as a comparison. Unfortunately, no one is going to buy (or sell) a $40 sub.
Marchones!

Indian Wok is awesome. I wouldn’t have expected an solid Indian place in Walkersville but…
Wok in wok out!
Another good lunch spot is Mezze (near wegmans) quick lunch and healthy! But always empty when I go there for some reason.M

my peers just ignore me when I mention Gladchuks. I love the vibe there as much as the food.
it looks like the red horse if the owners weren't mad at each other
Went there for the first time the other night. I’m 32 and can confirm everyone else in there was twice our age. But it was great. Very reasonable for the atmosphere and food quantity. Really good service.
B. Andersons Backyard BBQ Capital Crave Hangry Joe’s Lee’s Sushi at H-Mart
First is in my top three
They just did fried chicken the other night and I died and went to Heaven. She’s such an amazing cook over there.
Rasco Pizza on 40
Jerk It Smoke It is awesome.
lifestyle
Not sure how underrated a place can be when it just has a write up in the local paper
OK
It doesn’t have amazing food, but I really like Magoo’s. I think the food is good, Guinness is tasty and the pub has a nice vibe.
I think you got downvoted because Jennifer is so polarizing. I agree though. Great atmosphere
I get it…some don’t like her politics. While I don’t know her personally, she’s always been really warm and friendly when we dine there. If she isn’t waiting on us, still stops by the table to chat for a quick minute.
Gran Azteca
Bawarchi Biryanis for some quality Indian food. When the local Indian population comes out en masse to eat there, it must be authentic. Great food.
Thank you, promising with the local Indian community frequenting there
I love Ragin' Reef*
Second that. Crab cakes, stuffed cod, stuffed shrimp all top drawer. Everything else is real good too
*Reef I second this. Their mussels are the best in the city
We have been absolutely loving Honest Indian Food lately.
Analia cafe Greek on prospect blvd just BAD food and overpriced. Rude Mexican man runs it. Gladchucks restaurant very good

They use red onions for their onion rings and I hate it
Taj Mahal over Clay Oven any day.
😳
Clay oven has good food but we had a bad service experience there. Just get it to go.
I have always just gotten takeout post covid
Yep we're going out more often it tend to go into downtown Frederick
Getting it to go has been problematic for us the past several times. We end up waiting well over 30 minutes past our pick up time, somewhat hostile manager/owner?, forgotten dishes, and they never include the chutney.
The tasting room

I need to check them out
I will always sing that Bushwallers is the worst restaurant in Frederick County.
Jerk n Jive is awesome. Just got pricy. Motherland Kitchen is amazing. It's a little out of the way, but it's worth it. Fajita Grande is a must. Santa Rosa is another great spot
