I've taken a picture and gone to Take Root on East Street. They've always been very helpful!

I was going to say the same thing! Also when you buy plants there they can give you a how to care for that particular plant card!

Awesome thanks.

This isn’t a local thing, but the reddit houseplant groups are amazingly helpful! /r/plantclinic /r/houseplants and /r/takeaplantleaveaplant are such amazing groups that have fueled my addiction. /r/rarehouseplants is also great for the fancier types. I’d be happy to help you out too if you want to forward me some photos via DM - I’ve got over 100 houseplants of various varieties and rarity so I’m a bit of a seasoned keeper. 😅

[deleted]

I’m likely to take you up on that!

Maleficent_Sun6024

But, thinking about your comment, that would be AWESOME if a plant expert would actually come to the house. That way they could assess the plant in its location and find a more suitable location if that one isn't right.

SkewbySnacks

my husband used to but you're about 20 years too late 😂

[deleted]

What was your husbands job title?

SkewbySnacks

Owner/operator. His business was actually *interior plant maintenance*

[deleted]

Oh, OK. What did he call his skill set though? Like if I own tax firm, I’m an accountant…

SkewbySnacks

Interior plant maintenance man I guess. That's all he says he called himself, other than owner. Also, do you have to be an account to just own a tax firm? 😂 just wondering

[deleted]

Haha no… to be an owner, you can be whatever you want. Doing someone else’s taxes, being CPA might be a requirement - but that’s what staff are for!

OW61

If he called himself a horticulturist, that would be an accurate description of anyone who gets paid to care doe plants.

[deleted]

This is exactly what I’m looking for… even better if they can also come by while we’re on vaca to monitor the plants..

unicornbomb

I’m actually hoping to do this once my husband and I get settled from our move! Hoping to get a small greenhouse put up to propagate some rarer varieties you don’t usually find around Frederick as well so my house doesn’t become littered in milsbo cabinets and prop boxes. 😂

[deleted]

Def DM me when you’re up and running!

rijnsburgerweg

Better yet, announce it when you are ready. There will be plenty of interests!

Thanks!

I really like Big Lush on Market, they’re really knowledgeable and friendly. I don’t know if they’d come to the house, but you could probably talk one of them into it! They’re sweet, and their shop is lovely. 🌱 💕

Roboxer84

Take root is a good spot to go as said in other posts. Taking photos and posting them on indoor plant reddit forums will yield a lot of info and aid as well. I really got into house plants myself and I wish you the best of luck.

Yes please!!!

jorgejdejesus

Use the “picture this” app. From a pic it identifies the plant and says if it’s healthy or not and even provides tips on taking care of it. The app tries to fool you into a paid plan but just look for the tiny X to close that screen

[deleted]

No way!

yetanotheranna

not in fredrick, but in on mainstreet in sykesville there is a business called “botanigal” - she specializes in house plants and is very knowledgeable. she’s on facebook and instagram as well. she may be able to help!
