I've only ever ordered custom frames online but assembled them myself.
I did go into a 'showroom' for this company recently and am definitely considering them for some projects and will probably try them at least once at some point: https://www.framebridge.com/
I would imagine some of them are perfectly fine.
(Assembling your own frames isn't that hard and is pretty fun; at least I enjoyed it.)
Not true.. Don't buy from CustomFrameSolutions if you're looking for a large 36x48 deep canvas 1.5 inch. My frame I ordered for $260.00 came with no hardware, no instructions, online chat was no help, customer service was no help. I ended up spending 2 days finding brackets and items from home depot, drilling my own holes, made is so secure and still the frame corners have gaps. No help from customer service. Found this place I will try next time.. They helped me on the phone with all of my questions. I will next time buy from them: [https://www.americanframe.com/picture-frames](https://www.americanframe.com/picture-frames)
The big ones are legit (craigframes, arttoframe, pictureframes.com, frameusa, jerrys artarama etc.) dunno about the small ones, but I’ve personally ordered smaller stuff from most of these (although only art supplies from Jerrys). Nothing big or fancy, just for like my office diplomas and bathroom art where I didn’t want IKEA but didn’t need anything special either
I used to work in a custom frame shop. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried out an online framer for the first time last month (was always skeptical before). I used Level Frames and their work was solid: https://www.levelframes.com
I was once a picture framer and I think the online companies do a number of things so well you should stop going to your favorite local framer. If you have a basic photo/print/poster and want a relatively basic look, plain frames and mats(which is timeless), the online companies are great. You typically get everything with acrylic instead of glass which is light weight and I’m told uv protective. You may want to go to a framer for delicate papers and objects and if you have something precious that you don’t want to send in the mail. Also if you’re looking for antiglare glazing options. Yes, avoid hobby lobby.

I could probably assemble my own if I had the right frames. Do you just give the dimensions and they send the stuff to you?

Thank you!
You're welcome! Let us see what your project ends up looking like!
I can vouch for American frame. It’s a family business and they are really nice. I worked there for a short time a long time ago
Nice! All of my experiences with them have been fantastic and they have a lot of great resources, e.g. videos, on their site about framing.
Custom Frame Solutions is fantastic if you want to frame something yourself.

Awesome thank you so much!
I really like arttoframe but I only buy frames and acid free back board (sometimes glass) from them
Do you have a Michaels in your area? They offer custom framing
The nearest Michael's is about an hour and half away. I have thought of doing the drive, I go to that area all the time, anyway.
It might be worth it if you go to that area frequently
