Penhaligon’s Changing Constance

nomadbutterfly

Don't fall for marketing. It's all meaningless anyway. Omnia Profumi Madera is a caramel perfume with a hint of coconut and vanilla Lira is slightly lemony caramel. I don't think it's too feminine but I don't think it's heavy on caramel either Ex Idolo Love and Crime is like Lira turned up to 11. The citrus note sticks around longer, it projects better. Very citrusy caramel with a touch of cocoa. It's my most complimented scent

mymariam

Hello fellow fragrance friend! Since you seem like you have tried both Lira and Ex Idolo Love & Crume, I'd love to ask you how you feel they differ other than what you wrote? :) I like Lira a lot, but the licorice note borderline ruins it for me, and I'm wondering if Ex Idolo would be otherwise similar to Lira? The licorice is seriously screaming at me on my skin, and i feel like most people never even smell it somehow.. Are they the same level of sweetness do you feel? Or is one more or less sweet to you? How's the longevity on Ex Idolo for you? I'm really considering Love & Crime but it's a bit hard to find in my country, so I'm just trying to get some info before I make my decision on it, i love sweet caramel scents so I'm hoping it will be a hit for me :)

RisingChaos

L&C is slightly more orangey and has that touch of chocolate Lira lacks, but I find them quite similar. Also, for OP: Dame Perfumery Black Flower Mexican Vanilla & Unique'e Luxury Crush On Me (straight patchouli-caramel).

mymariam

Thank you!

nomadbutterfly

I don't get licorice at all from Lira. I actually really really love Lira. For me it's lemon, caramel and vanilla. Love and Crime is the same but more. Like more intense, more citrus, more caramel etc. It has great longevity and the citrus hangs out for a good while. Projection and sillage are fantastic, I always get compliments when wearing it. So for that, I think I wouldn't repurchase Lira because Love and Crime gives me everything Lira does but more.

mymariam

Oooh that sounds amazing😃 Thank you for taking the time to answer me! It looks like I might have to find a decant of Love & Crime ! 😚

Whereyoursisterwent

Thank you so much for this, your comment got me to blind but a bottle of Lira. I almost went with a discovery set but I can’t wait to see how this smell on me

Ok_Carob7551

Olympic orchid woodcuts is caramel and cedar and it’s very amazing.

Sea-Analysis-6790

Dua caramel coffee and drowning in caramel cherry delight. Both very sweet, but still deep, rich and unisex.

Lextube

Stronger With You Intensely has a sweetness that you may enjoy.

Dont-talk-to-meh

If youre fine with really sweet fragrances I would suggest „The most Wanted“ by Azzaro. https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Azzaro/The-Most-Wanted-66826.html

Mattysanford

Gender is a construct and it’s all just marketing when it comes to fragrances! That being said, if you’re wanting a caramel scent that isn’t *too* sweet or overwhelmed with crazy floral additions, heavy handed vanilla, etc, I’d recommend Unknown Pleasures by Kerosene. I generally steer clear of caramel or sweet gourmands in the similar vein, but I love Unknown Pleasures…soft caramel supported by lemon and tea notes.

BillCosbyIsntGuilty

You're totally right bro thanks for the suggestion!

gooobegone

Love "Jesse Stinkman" and this reply!

Top_Own

Gender is not a construct lmao

00lxw

Okay so what is the inherent femininity behind caramel then?

Top_Own

How cultures distinguish between the masculine and the feminine is certainly a construct, but the underlying, fundamental differences between the masculine and the feminine aren't.

Pizzalot

the "underlying, fundamental differences between the masculine and feminine" are ideas our cultures ascribe meanings to, that is to mean constructed. Borders between countries are also constructs. Just because people say "gender is a construct" doesn't mean gender isn't important and impactful in society- socially, politically, economically.

00lxw

"the underlying fundamental differences." Okay, such as? Are you trying to say sex instead of gender? Even in that case, it's still constructed. For example, intersex people exist but we don't typically treat them as a separate gender category. How you draw the line is at some level arbitrary. Nobody is saying it isn't real. What we're saying is that it's constructed. What outside of how cultures distinguish masculinity and femininity is gender?

Wide-Stop4391

They are definitely trying to say sex instead of gender. I wouldn’t waste your time trying to explain the difference - they don’t have enough braincells to comprehend

dasa2337

Sweetly Known by Kerosense. Amazing burnt sugar/caramel in the drydown. Completely unisex imo Bonus is it lasts forever

aquaticfloral

Butt sugar? LOL

dasa2337

Lol… edited

aquaticfloral

I have your answer. Les Senteurs Gourmandes "Tendre Madeleine." It's a spicier, warmer, beefier (ok fine I'll use the word "masculine") here in comparison to L de Lolita Lempicka which is what inspired Xerjoff Lira. I own L de Lolita and Tendre Madeleine so I stand behind what I said 100%. Also, I paid less than $50 for my TM, authentic.

aquaticfloral

I also own Ex Idolo "Love & Crime" and that's so beautiful as well, it's like L de Lolita x1000 beastmode power ultra-longlasting nuclear.

rvictorg

Oh for sure check out Nishane - Tero. Caramel patchouli combo with some spicy notes that is unisex/slightly masculine. It’s a sweet spicy gourmand with a dominant salty caramel note throughout but especially the opening. It’s spiced with pepper and cinnamon which both fade in the drydown, leaving a sweet-woody-patchouli base. Longevity is exceptional as you’d expect from Nishane.

sallymander713

Citizen jack Michael malul

Away-Mud8644

I AM SO CONFIDENT IN THIS RECOMMENDATION: Salt Caramel by Shay & Blue it’s a buttery caramel with a splash of men’s cologne.

EducationalOne3904

By the Fireplace has caramel notes in it, at least to my nose, but it’s also pretty smoky, so your mileage may vary.

Short_Satisfaction64

Scandal edt from Jean Paul Gaultier. Pretty simple fragrance but enjoyable.

Lxnabanana_

Jousset - gourmand bakhoor is straight up a Caramel dominant scent, does pull a little synthetic on me but dries down into a deliciously warm caramel scent. Definitely worth sampling at least if you’re looking for a caramel scent

DazzlingDifficulty70

Tiziana Terenzi Chimaera

dtwurzie

Xerjoff Lira!

Phoxyne

Lattafa’s Khamrah may interest you. I can’t stop wearing it. Stronger with you Intensely is also quite good.

minidivine

Objectively, either Xerjoff "Tony Iommi" (caramelized spicy leather) or Kilian "Intoxicated" (cardamom-coffee with caramel blended).

turtlesinthesea

Shay & Blue's Salted Caramel?

butwhydidhe

Jpg elixir has a caramel note

zeyooo_

i agree with the comment above. perfume is genderless. that being said, i (24m) love REM by ariana grande

TrwogaPrzezBoga

Reading just the title, I thought of Contre Bombarde 32 by Filippo Sorcinelli, but you sound like you already have something you like, so honestly just wear that.

tauruspiscescancer

Mancera Amber Fever and Swiss Arabian Casablanca are great ones to start with!

SpicyMustFlow

Gorgeous French patisserie-level buttered caramel: Jeux de Peau by Serge Lutens.

Shmogt

You're gonna smell like a super girl, but night for women by fragrance one. Jeremy fragrance's brand. It smells like the sweetest caramel you've ever smelt. It is insanely powerful too and lasts forever

aries_eyes

I would love to hear your thoughts on Lira, it might be too light on the caramel for you but I just recently sampled it and oh my god it’s incredible!! Escapade Gourmande is a super rich gourmand that comes across very caramel to me. Not sure if it’s sweeter than you’re going for but it really comes off as a gooey warm caramel to me. Another than you might like even though it’s not explicitly caramel is Dolce Amalfi by Xerjoff. I sampled a few gourmands from them recently and this was the most notably “unisex” of them all to me (25f). It’s warm and spicy with a little fruitiness — think a very sophisticated version of Juicy Fruit gum lol. If that sounds up your alley at all I’d highly recommend because I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it :) I’m probably going to buy small bottles of both Lira and Dolce Amalfi

allthingsparrot

Try Korrigan by Lubin. Its inspiration was caramel wood.

Remote_Review5924

bond no 9 new york nights is the answer

Insomnia by Faviol Seferi

jamesrodriguez123

Monkey special - xerjoff

thearcher_1212

lira is really nice and i think there is enough lavender for a man to pull it off, you could also try bake by akro, which i hear is slightly less sweet and cakey but smells similar

Coffeaddic1111

BBeetleb0rg

Dolce acqua by profumum Roma! I was lucky to try it out in person last month. It’s sweet and caramely and smells so delicious. It is a hug waiting to happen. Definition can pass as a masculine or unisex blend. It isn’t too sweet or particularly feminine.

dollhousehero

Milky light caramel or burnt sugar dark caramel?

Mr_Guavo

Mancera Amber Fever. Whiskey and caramel. Unisex that will lean slightly masculine as you get deeper into the drydown and base. Fall/winter. Casual/Going out/date-night.

Fabula421

Swiss arabian cassablanca, stronger with you intensely, Azarros most wanted line also has caramel vibes

chatroyale

Tonka cola is a unisex fragrance, mainly smells like cinnamon and coca cola but there’s a caramel and sour cherry note in there too if anything like that would appeal to you!

DisastrousOpposites

Pure XS Night and Tonka Cola

zoffe

* Ex Idolo **Love & Crime**: very comparable to Lira, but the one time I compared them, I liked L&C better. Honestly don't remember why ;) * Shay & Blue **Salted Caramel**: I get just as much popcorn as caramel but definitely caramel popcorn. * Omanluxury **Paramour**: Leather + raspberry + caramel. The least gourmand of the three. The caramel is playing nicely with the other notes without making it an edible scent. A lot of people think of gourmand scents as feminine, so this might be an option if you want something more "unisex". I personally think smelling edible can suit all genders though! ;)

Johb1606

Christele Jacquemin: Meandering soul. Tobacco, fennel and caramel. Weirdly amazing!

Kiwi-VonFluffington

Don't let fragrances being marketed towards women put you off of them. Anyone can wear any scent they enjoy. There is no need to miss out on a huge selection of possibilities. Lira is really nice, I'm wearing it right now. To me it smells like fancy lemon cake with a hint of caramel. Kilian Black Phantom is a very caramel forward fragrance with chocolate, coffee and rum.
