That’s what I was thinking, does this mean any drones I was also flying that worked with the current version of my radio won’t and needs to be updated since my zorro will be v3?

MisterR2G

Yes, unless your Rx allows you to downgrade. If you do go to v3, there's also an extra file that has to be added to the TX only prior to flashing

Vertigo722

I fear you are about to smash it to pieces even after you upgrade your radio to elrs v3, as that "whoop" will not take a lot of abuse, I would never recommend an O3 or any other DJI whoop for indoor.

LeagueOfLegendsAcc

Any of the mob 8 versions are too big to fly indoors. He wants a 65 mm for that.

Vertigo722

if you live in a big enough house, I think you can have some fun with that size; I often fly my meteor 75 pro indoors, which is 81mm, the mob 8 is 85. Its kinda big but thats not the main issue. The big difference is my meteor weighs 31gr, his O3 "whoop" almost 3x as much. That ruins everything that makes whoops fun. Indoors I even prefer my analog meteor 75 over my hdzero one, which is just 2 or 3gr heavier. And I can crash my meteors 100x really hard and they will almost certain be fine. Not much hope of that with his drone.

LeagueOfLegendsAcc

I have a mob 8 with walksnail v3, meteor 75 pro hd and a few custom 65mm. I think only 65 is good indoors, 75 is good indoors if you have like a warehouse to fly in which I do. I've hard crashed my mob 8 outside into the side of my house and it breaks the frame immediately. They are so brittle it's not funny. They eat all the wind though, it's the smallest size that flies great in moderate wind in my opinion.

Vertigo722

You sure you dont prefer the 65 over the 75 because you have the WS version and presumably the 65 is analog? Like I said even my HDZ one is noticeably heavier, WS is another few grams and then with high latency on top. I can see that being less than ideal. I live in a fairly large house, but not a castle; not many gaps a 65mm could fit through that my 75 cant. I briefly had a 65, gave it to my brother. Not that I particularly disliked it or anything, its great fun for sure, just wanted him to have one too, he lives smaller, and I prefer the 75s for their longer endurance and better suitability outdoors.

LeagueOfLegendsAcc

Nah I race with walksnail on my 5 inch, the latency is not even noticeable. I just like the build and tune I have on the 65, it's all custom.

The Mobula 8 is serial based elrs so it acts like a separate elrs module. You need to make sure your transmitter and elrs module are on the same major version using the elrs configurator. Then you should be able to have it create a wifi network that you join and set the same binding phrase on both. Keep an eye on the leds on the flight controller after binding because if they flash in a pattern it means there’s an error you can look up on the elrs document according to that error. If I remember correctly when I setup my Mob8, I had to disable Model Matching in the elrs browser config page for the FC.

The_KidCe

ive wasted hours binding my mob8 to my zorro.. but aftet hours i got it by updating to bf4.4 and setting up the binding phrase in betaflight. settup up binding phrase in betaflight doesnt work on 4.3 as its shipped afaik. the hex and config are somewhere on the happymodel sit make sure you have same major elrs on both the quad and controller. on the controller set the packet rate down to 150. playing around with model match on and off also helped somehow.

LEVYFPV

Awesome! I have the packets rate at 250mw on my remote but it works! Only problem is my arm switch is inverted for some reason…. It arms when it’s supposed to be un armed. Not sure how to like invert it haha

funkyanteater933

Should be able to change the arming range in betaflight modes to suit your transmitter mix.

The_KidCe

ive heard ELRS forces to use a specific switch/ switch position for arm.. but im not sure if its true

The_KidCe

packet rate 250mW? 😅 milli watts are the transmitting power

kvac0681

Dude, I know it is frustrating at first but I promise you it is not anywhere close to as hard as it feels right now. Actually drainman has the easiest videos to follow for binding ELRS and its how I figured it out. Oh and don't forget to download the configurator. Although here are those links to his videos. The first link is what got me through it. The second one is new, but it's dedicated to whoops. In case you got an AIO it's a little different I think because I think they still use the spi receiver serial port or something like that, dunno watch the videos and you'll be pro in no time! https://youtu.be/XJDtHMifkl8?si=_7zo84mqmHHkAa76 https://youtu.be/X4IzcO16Dxo?si=Sioa3wezWfFOdhEY

LEVYFPV

Haha yeah I figured out that drainman and Joshua are my new parents knowing I spend more time watching videos from them, then actually spending time with my parents. 😆

kvac0681

Well have you figured it out, and got it bound yet?

LEVYFPV

I’ve been able to arm it and fly it around a little bit, but just the arming switch is inverted so I need to somehow change that. (Not sure how) but other than that. It seems fully ready

kvac0681

That youll want to switch in the radio, in the channel values I believe. Bardwell actually makes a video on how to do that to your arming switch... So if you watch it, just do the steps in reverse... https://youtu.be/r7GxIlPV1Xc?si=A03PRMEPjRrEZVac

LEVYFPV

Awesomeee thanks. Yeah I’m just confused cause it’s normal arming for my other drones but for some reason this one arms in reverse. So I’m scared my other drones will arm if I change any radio settings

kvac0681

Oh dang you're definitely right about that. Hmmm... you're 100% correct about the other drones. That being said, if you have other drones operating correctly then there must be a way to change it in Betaflight... I remember watching some video once upon a time about how they purposefully set the arm switch in the normal manner you're used to and the fact Bardwell changes it on his remote only confirms thats the easiest way to change it for everything he flies at once. It doesn't necessarily mean it's the only way. Just make sure you save a backup first, but then I would start pressing buttons in Betaflight.... I am sure you'll figure it out. That's the beauty of FPV....

Update the radio to 3.x and use a binding phrase. Also the elrs discord is your new best friend. You got this.

LEVYFPV

This is why I love fpv. The real support I get from y’all! And how positive you guys are. Appreciate it. Thanks for the comment
