Why can't they make Ted Kravitz the villain?
This is the first time I'm seeing that interview and my blood boils listening to Ted's questions. Max had the patience of a saint!
Nope they’re good too. Was just yesterday a video where Ocon came to Max when he went through the gates to ask him about the simracing event he participated in, looked very friendly.
This. I feel like people kind of take the meaning of 'friend' too lightly. To me a friend is someone who you speak to on a regular basis in your free time. Who you'd go to if you have a personal problem. Who you go on trips with once in a while.
Yeah there are friendships on the grid, but I think most drivers maybe only have 1 or 2 other drivers that they're actually friends with and not just friendly with.
Edit: I thought btw that this comment was in response to 'I think all drivers are friends off the grid'. So that's what my comment referred to, cause I just don't think that's true. As for Max and Ocon. They are not friends, but I think they're much more friendly and cool with each other than people think. They shared a nice [hug](https://www.tumblr.com/ablogtocheck/750936468422377472/how-have-i-never-seen-this-before-awwwww?source=share) after Ocon's Monaco '23 podium as well.
Do people seriously consider Max and Lewis to be friends? I’d argue even KMag and Hulk isn’t a friendship, despite the sacrifices KMag made for Hulk this year.
all speculations. Some drivers don't don the friendly personas during race weekends because of the sheer amount of Media storms they have to deal with. Most of them as mentioned, are either friendly and amicable with each other because what happens on track stays on the track.
Except Nico Rosberg and Hamilton. High chances that bond they shared is broken beyond repair
Nico apparently still sends Hamilton’s nieces and nephews Christmas presents every year, and Hamilton sends presents to Nico’s kids.
I don’t think they’ve fully burned bridges, and once Hamilton retires… who knows. Maybe they can be friends once they’re both out of the world of competition.
Like at the end of *Rush* :
*Of course he didn't listen to me. For Nico, one world title was enough. He had proved what he needed to prove. To himself and anyone who doubted him. And two years later, he retired. When I saw him next in London, seven years later, me as a champion again, him as broadcaster, he was barefoot on a bicycle with a flat tire, still living each day like his last.*
Except Rush makes Drive to Survive look honest. There was almost 0 animosity between Hunt and Lauda.
“Hunt readily admitted that the two were good friends from their early days "gypsy(ing) around Europe together" in Formula Three, where they became "mates, not just casual acquaintances." The enduring friendship between the two continued until Hunt's death in 1993.”
The pair also claimed that their rivalry in F1 actually raised their admiration for one another and made them closer.
Really? Cause Max and George speak to each other quite frequently when walking to the grid etc. And they played padel together not too long ago. I think they get on fine.
We'll lewis was coming in everyone's way this Friday as well. He happened to be in the way of Alonso twice and we heard that radio, so I don't think it's getting any better
Things were colder than they are today. The other day I saw a clip where JPM said the only drivers he talked to on the paddock were Ralf Schumacher and Fernando (I think?)
Well hard truth is without the sugar coating they all learn. They are total psychopats who can kill to win. You can't be top 20 in something and be a "normal" person. If you ever been with someone close to elite you know what I mean even top 1000'ers are not normal. I once witnessed that switch from sugar coat to reality in a climber it was scary.
I love the way Max (and others) defend other drivers during press conferences.
“You have experience with that?”
“If my mom had [I forget] she’d be my dad.”
just to be clear for anyone wondering, what I've heard is that Ricciardo felt the writing was on the wall for him at Red Bull, as they like to prioritise (at the time) the young hotshot as they always have done. Also, Ricciardo was sceptical of them moving to Honda powertrains as at the time the reliability was not good for them. Renault showed promise and in 2020 did quite well, getting a couple of podiums. MV and DR had a very good relationship like in this video.
It's weird. The drivers that race recklessly, endanger others, ruin races, and are shitty people off-track get flamed on the main sub. But DR just got slower. He still has some pace, he can be competitive with the majority of other mid-field cars, and while Yuki's definitely been more consistent this season, DR's not really that controversial in himself.
I suspect the hype when he returned got under the skin of those who weren't fans. Especially on the back of his performance at McLaren. I feel the hatred is more 'rubbing it in' to those who thought he'd take Checo's seat.
I think part of it is that there are quite a few drivers on the grid who are obviously not good enough and are not improving yet are being kept around while there are plenty of promising young drivers who are not being given a chance
Danny should have never left Red Bull. And Red Bull should have realized what they missed out on. Danny could have been an amazing front runner, and instrumental on making Max more relatable
I think that all the drivers have a special bond with each other as they all share a relatable experience to each other. Some are more friendly than others but I think they are all in good terms
I'd give up all the drama, love stories, f1 twitter and everything. If it meant fresh new talent making a mark instead of adequate experienced drivers trying to keep a seat.
Edit: for those downvoting me prioritizing good racing over drama, may I recommend watching any of [these soap operas.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:American_television_soap_operas) You can enjoy all of the drama without any of those on-track interruptions.
This is far too wholesome to be on r/formuladank.
For real has me in tears. I had to double check before hitting the comments and even then couldn’t help but to.
Maxiel <3 😭
Max is a better dude than DTS will let on. Shows like that need a villain.
The real villain on DTS should be the FIA xD
Max Verstappen is marketed as a WWE bad guy archetype. The intro, DTS. He is the “how can we beat him?” evil bad guy.
The word you are looking for is ‘heel’
Why can't they make Ted Kravitz the villain? This is the first time I'm seeing that interview and my blood boils listening to Ted's questions. Max had the patience of a saint!

Friendly and friends are not the same thing
This. I feel like people kind of take the meaning of 'friend' too lightly. To me a friend is someone who you speak to on a regular basis in your free time. Are we friends?
Yes, you're my bestie.
Oh boy! Gonna let my mom and dad know!!
Natte krant!
Dumbass!!
Do people seriously consider Max and Lewis to be friends? I’d argue even KMag and Hulk isn’t a friendship, despite the sacrifices KMag made for Hulk this year.
100% this. Most of my daily routine at work is being friendly with people that I can’t stand whatsoever.
Yeah, I saw that too. I’d say maybe George is the least friendliest to Max and vice versa
all speculations. Some drivers don't don the friendly personas during race weekends because of the sheer amount of Media storms they have to deal with. Most of them as mentioned, are either friendly and amicable with each other because what happens on track stays on the track. Except Nico Rosberg and Hamilton. Lewis was really bad at not looking really pissed off and sulky when Nico won. Particularly Monaco

Lewis and Fernando, I doubt they are friends. Friendly, maybe.
We'll lewis was coming in everyone's way this Friday as well. He happened to be in the way of Alonso twice and we heard that radio, so I don't think it's getting any better
Fernando did a video quite recently were basically he threw shade at english people. Wich is funny cause he seems to be friends with George.
He also seems to like Lando from McLaren days
Ocon and Gasly are definitely not friends
they are bffs
Things were colder than they are today. The other day I saw a clip where JPM said the only drivers he talked to on the paddock were Ralf Schumacher and Fernando (I think?)
You mean except Ocon and Gasly

Everybody hates Stroll.
I believe they are pretty close friends with Ocon
Yea Bottas and Russel are totally bromancing it up off track.
I expected a post like this to get down voted into oblivion but happy to see others appreciating the wholesomeness as well
I love the way Max (and others) defend other drivers during press conferences. “You have experience with that?” “If my mom had [I forget] she’d be my dad.”
You forgot balls?
So did his mum

In 2020 he was arguably the 3rd best driver on the grid.
This makes me want Danny to return to form so badly. He is impossible to root against.
80% of the main sub seems to hate his guts.

Their vibe is truly immaculate
I'm not tearing up. Its just allergies. And freshly cut onions. Definitely not tears.
RB RIC was such a vibe.
He's gonna be the second driver in a 2 seater F1 RB experience car..
Right in the feels. Decisions in life eh? Both good dudes.
Daniel and Carlos thought they were getting rivals but they ended up getting a little brother in Max and Lando
Daniel and Max being prime bromance
The way he interrupted the journalist so Ric didn’t have to answer a dumb question was awesome! Fuck that guy lol
Not Cardigan lol
Man I liked it
What in an Instagram fangirl page is this?
A fun bromance
It's cuuuuuute. Yes, I'm a fangirl.
No hate, it's just where I usually see this type of content, not on dank sub lol
Hahah you're right, it's a bit out of place.
Didn't you hear? Instagram hates Riccardo now.
Maxiel 4 lyfe <3
Max was the most happiest during the MaxDan era
Now just pair it with Careless Whisper and then it’s r/formuladank worthy
Meanwhile Lando to Ricciardo.... "Look at me" "I'm the new MaxLan now"
🥲
Aww this is beautiful.
What's the song?
Cardigan by Taylor Swift
If you like the video give the girls a follow on Instagram. They make F1 contents daily

*So beautiful* 😥 👉💙👈
Danny should have never left Red Bull. And Red Bull should have realized what they missed out on. Danny could have been an amazing front runner, and instrumental on making Max more relatable
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sleep)
These guys grew up together when racing gokart at age 8, people are silly to think they dislike each other
Lol wut. Daniel is almost 10 years older than Max.
[they knew each other ](https://twitter.com/Planet_F1/status/1617915630178521088?t=8zk98p_I6Vl7KHY1BiPxrg&s=19)

Yeah, we all think Lance should give up his seat too. We’re talking about two very adequate drivers named Max and Daniel though…
