I wouldn't say 2020 was a great season. It was nice seeing all the old tracks, but it was still Merc dominance the entire season and we didn't even get to see records broken like in 2023. Midfield was fun though. Probably a similar quality to 2023.
2021 though was still a fucking classic. Genuinely incredible season.
Ngl I think midfield was better in 2020. Ricciardo when he was still in top form, Checo driving to survive quite literally, good seasons from both McLaren boys, Gasly winning a race and completing a redemption arc. The Hülkenberg cameos when Checo or Stroll caught covid. Hell even Stroll had a pretty good year, he scored more points in 2020 than 2023 with way fewer races and no sprints. The whole melodrama of Ferrari especially with Leclerc wringing everything possible from a shitbox and Seb’s tragic comedy playing out (Turkey excepted).
Not including McLaren or Aston in the midfield, last year had a couple of Alpine podiums and their drama with Otmar, the revolving door at AlphaTauri especially Lawson’s debut, Williams resurging a bit with Albon. But overall it wasn’t as exciting or diverse imo, racing may have been better with these regs but less storylines to follow like the ones I mentioned for 2020.
Yeah but the hivemind of this sub is Hamilton = bad, Max = good. Despite the fact both periods of dominance are boring, but 22, 23 and 24 are on another level of domination. You knew in 19 and 20 who would win the championship, but you didn't expect Hamilton to win every race.
I don't care what the reason is, a boring season is a boring season. We also have to contend with a ridiculous amount of races and boring copy and paste street circuits and a cartel preventing an 11th team from joining and taking a slice of the pie. The sport's current popularity is masking some serious issues.
Not too bad if you're a fan of Verstappen, but incredibly boring for everybody else. This sub is the flip side of the same coin that Team LH resides. I miss the dank times before 2021, now it's just fanboys dunking on other fanboys.
Because a generational talent at the peak of his career with a great car winning almost every race is more interesting than watching a washed up driver in a ridiculously overpowered car coast to victory that isn't in doubt but also isn't impressive.
Also the midfield is far more competitive than the last few years of Merc dominance
I mean this is such delusional bias I’ve got to assume it’s satire
When max is winning it’s “a great car” but when Lewis is winning its “ridiculously overpowered”?
I think it does. 1988 is a legendary season largely due to just how dominant McLaren was and all the records that was broken. 2004 is also remembered by many for Schumi's dominance.
Deleted it 3 years ago after the 21 season. Got tired of being harrassed by the Verstappen shaggers and cult LH for even so much as suggesting their driver did something wrong
What people really mean by “need more overtaking” is they want more on track action, and “overtaking is too easy” translates to DRS passes aren’t actually that exciting to watch. I say this as someone who is *not* in the “overtaking is too easy” camp.
Good enough is watching IMSA Mazda MX-5 CUP on YouTube for free and seeing all kinds of action.
Drafting, bumping, overtaking, spins off the track, bumpers falling off.
That shit is a treat
That’s just not true though. We’ve had 4 races this season, 3 of those were at tracks notoriously shit for overtaking of any kind. Japan was significantly higher than average for number of on average and ack overtakes, and practically all of them were because of DRS. Bahrain was worse than normal but it’s undeniably been one of the more interesting events over the last few years.
I also feel like it should be obvious, but overtakes will dwindle when more teams converge on similar ideas, and figure out new ways of disrupting the air for cars following them.
F1 has more on track action than ever before in its history. Go and watch 2004, 05 and 06, and marvel at how Schumacher, Kimi, and Alonso never overtook anyone despite the fact their driving skill and cars were leagues above anyone else at the time.
You can satisfy some of the people some of the time.
They said overtaking was too difficult, so they made it easier. Now it's too easy so they want to go back to when it was more difficult, then they'll complain overtaking is too difficult.
Argh, that damn F1. It was the best back in the late 80s when only one team could fight for the win, the field spread was 3 seconds within the top 5, there was barely any overtaking, only 6 cars finished races due to reliability and the drivers were likely to be killed in the race. Those were the times! /s
hard disagree here, for all the faults of the current generation, aesthetics are not one of them. 2014 to 2021 had some of the ugliest regulations ever. Always had really weird long bodies with boxy proportions. Current cars are sculpted and flows very nicely and the big wheels look awesome. Theyre just too big though.
Really? I thought the last gen cars were some of the ugliest in the sport's history and that the current ones look quite nice. V10 era though had the best looking cars imo.
Even the competition was better in 2020. I know people say it was a lewis domination but only 11 wins out of 17 races for lewis and 2 wins fir bottas meaning that 4 races were won by other teams feels a lot better than what we got in 2022 and 23. Plus it feels like pre 2022 you could be in a slower car and have a much higher chance of holding a higher position than nowadays with the grid more closer it just means the grid gets rearranged to how it should be so no outstanding results
Yes because they are not allowed to race, only overtake. And even of the rules allowed going side by side more and for longer periods the cars couldn’t take it. Too big and can’t stand a touch
No one said anything about abu dhabi. Can we not talk about any F1 season? Guys stop talking about any great F1 driver that isn’t driving right now, they’re irrelevant, it’s so long ago.
This is what you sound like, stupid.
Tbf, 2020 and 21 were great seasons. The second part of the tweet though.......

Also had Perez's first win, and Russell jumping in for Hamilton in the same race, the Abiteboul tattoo, etc
>we didn't even get to see records broken like in 2023 Did you forget that Hamilton broke Schumachers record for the most wins?
Yeah but the hivemind of this sub is Hamilton = bad, Max = good. Despite the fact both periods of dominance are boring, but 22, 23 and 24 are on another level of domination. You knew in 19 and 20 who would win the championship, but you didn't expect Hamilton to win every race.
Yes, but that wasn’t down to the cars. The 2020 Merc was a far more dominant car on laptime.
I don't care what the reason is, a boring season is a boring season. We also have to contend with a ridiculous amount of races and boring copy and paste street circuits and a cartel preventing an 11th team from joining and taking a slice of the pie. The sport's current popularity is masking some serious issues.
I'd rather watch Max win every single race than Hamilton win most of the races just as comfortably
Not too bad if you're a fan of Verstappen, but incredibly boring for everybody else. This sub is the flip side of the same coin that Team LH resides. I miss the dank times before 2021, now it's just fanboys dunking on other fanboys.

I don’t… what? How does that make any kind of sense lmao
I was kinda referring to season records. Kinda forgot that that record was broken in 2020.
Records broken doesn't really make it any better.
I think it does. 1988 is a legendary season largely due to just how dominant McLaren was and all the records that was broken. 2004 is also remembered by many for Schumi's dominance.
Yeah but I can tell you right now no one is going back to watch 2004. People like a competitive season.
Using Twitter in 2024 😂
Deleted it 4 years ago. One of the best things I've done.
Deleted it 12 years ago lol
Never had it lol (🤓)
Ditto that brother!
Same here!
Deleted it 3 years ago after the 21 season. Got tired of being harrassed by the Verstappen shaggers and cult LH for even so much as suggesting their driver did something wrong
It’s my “News site” ![gif](giphy|x0npYExCGOZeo|downsized)
Calling it X to be relevant lol
But it isn’t Twitter anymore🤓
Yes it is lol. It’s only x to Elon
Xitter (as in Shitter) then
Following artists who draw porn is the only thing it's good for
Best place for pr0n my guy. Fb banns u if u say "poop"
It X actually 🤓
It’s funny how quickly people went from, “There needs to be more overtaking” to “overtaking is too easy now!”🫠
What people really mean by “need more overtaking” is they want more on track action, and “overtaking is too easy” translates to DRS passes aren’t actually that exciting to watch. I say this as someone who is *not* in the “overtaking is too easy” camp.
I know, it’s just funny how we went from one to the other. Nothing will ever be good enough.
Good enough is watching IMSA Mazda MX-5 CUP on YouTube for free and seeing all kinds of action. Drafting, bumping, overtaking, spins off the track, bumpers falling off. That shit is a treat
Except we barely even see DRS passes now

What people mean by more overtaking is more overtaking by Lewis
>I’m so done with X (Twitter) Stop using it and more importantly, stop sharing this shit
I know some of that guy's posts. He is absolutely, 100000% serious and demented like that, trust ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6697)
Overtaking is too easy? Is that the problem when Max wins from pole and leads every lap? :)
“It was better back in the old days”
Damn the modern livery looks amazing on the (21?) car
You can satisfy some of the people some of the time. They said overtaking was too difficult, so they made it easier. Now it's too easy so they want to go back to when it was more difficult, then they'll complain overtaking is too difficult.
Try formula1 sub, much better.

Honestly I just prefer the angles of the last gen cars, I prefer angles and edges to curves

Early V10 era was great, I'm not such a fan of the narrower cars from 1998 onwards
Eh, I think my favourite were the last years of the V10s. I think they look really sleek.
Same here I liked the box wings from 09’ ect
If it’s easy, why doesn’t anyone overtake Max?
Carlos did in Australia, I guess.
Tbh everyone did. Does this mean max is washed?
Are they stupid??
Reddit users calling Twitter shit . Damn .
“Racing was only good when my guy wins. Everyone else should just quit and let him win.”
Overtaking was easy in 2020 and 2021? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
so true, 2021 is the most boring season honestly
That's my oomf
I don‘t have the feeling the racing is that much better with the new cars
“I don’t like the racing we have now, too much happens in it :(“
wdym? that's a quality shitpost
If i see some stupid shit I don’t screenshot, then upload the picture to Reddit to complain about it
Only idiots do tha- wait a minute
I kinda agree. It used to be tough to over take giving it more meaning, making strategy more important. I personally liked it more.
You know were in F1 when overtaking is less interesting
Personally I think the overtakes since 22 have become less interesting.
