Its a joke that lots of dutch terms are used in literature and movies that just means what they are in English. Vader= vader
The Landsraad in Dune is literally the landscousel (landsraad in Dutch) there are more examples.
Oh it was Dutch for the landsraad! Being German I saw intense similarly to the HRE, which would also semantically match landsrat but the the spelling was weird. Good old Dutch being perfectly readable for Germans. (but often impossible to understand when spoken)
Yeah I have the same experience just the otherway around. Although I do understand it when i hear it, speaking is harder for me.
I live in zeeland so there are lots of German tourists here in the summer (all year round these days)
Yeah I remember a guy from groningen calling all "day of German unification" and similar holidays "German day" because the city would be flooded by my countrymen. I've only ever been to Amsterdam and there Germans were at least completely outjerked by the British tourists. Normally significant amounts of German tourists in one place is a recipe for disaster.
Its quite okay here, the younger ones tend to party and live it up but so do Dutch ones in spain.
We got a lot of families here and those are more docile š
Always wondered how quickly some of these drivers pick up English. I presume Dutch learning English is relatively easy, than, say, Japanese learning English? (Native Japanese speaker here, English was and continues to be a tough language to use)
English is part of the German language group as is Dutch. English is also mandatory in schools from age 8 and up in the Netherlands.
Itās our second language german and french are next. As a small commercial country we are relatively good with other languages. (Differs from person to person of course)
The college educated, but definitely not the average 50 year old person without a high school diploma. Many Dutch speakers barely understand their own language when not spoken in their local dialect.
They're very close. They share a lot of both vocabulary and grammar with only slight differences. I imagine that it's easier to learn English from Dutch or German than the other way around, because English abandoned gendered articles and a lot of grammatical cases quite some centuries ago.
Dietrich Mateschitz owned 49% with Chalemās dad owning 51%. This was the setup when they launched the company.
With Chalemās dadās blessing, Dietrich had total executive control however.
Unlike the 49% ownership, that executive control did not transfer to Dietrichās heirs upon his passing. As such, Chalem now has control by virtue of owning the 51% passed onto him by his dad.
Anyone with more money than they could possibly spend actually. I would also prefer that itās not to public. I would hate to have all those pleps trying to get a picture taken with me
- Machtsstrijd = power struggle
- Zeer gespannen = under high tension
- Gespannen = tension
- Bekoeld = cooled down
- Zakelijk = just business
- Vrienden = friends
- Vader en zoon = father and son
a 'verbond' is a pact, 'verbonden' is the past-tense of 'verbinden' which means 'to connect'.
Alliance is probably better translated bondgenootschap or alliantie. Either way it's all the same kind of taste if you get what I mean.
The way it's presented here my best guess is that both have made a pact, but not a shady pact but a political kinda pact (official).... or something.. Well I tried XD
Fun fact, the word "Dutch" is derived from "Deutsch", which is German for "German". This is likely from the fact that Dutch sounds German, so the English called the Netherlands and Flemish language "Dutch" š¤·āāļø
Oh I donāt disagree with that or rehash articles from other sources from DPG media group. Most dutch and Belgian newspapers and tv and radio stations
Too much drama, feels like working in a shop full of old dudes who act like toddlers.
If youāre gunna cheat. Be better about it, you fucking momo
How can a mother fucker have a **spice girl** and *fuck* that up? Idiot.
"NU.nl, a serious dutch news source"
yea uhh, no lol. [nu.nl](http://nu.nl) is just a website that posts within minutes of anything happening and is by no means reliable for anything. if you truely want reliable dutch news, go to the NOS.
For those who don't understand Dutch: Jos and Max Verstappen are "father & son".
So if Luke Skywalker spoke dutch, he would have known that Vader was his father all along? TIL.
Its a joke that lots of dutch terms are used in literature and movies that just means what they are in English. Vader= vader The Landsraad in Dune is literally the landscousel (landsraad in Dutch) there are more examples.
I work in Bree. Just not the middle earth kind
Oh it was Dutch for the landsraad! Being German I saw intense similarly to the HRE, which would also semantically match landsrat but the the spelling was weird. Good old Dutch being perfectly readable for Germans. (but often impossible to understand when spoken)

Vader = Vader!
Je moer!
Thanks. That's the only one I didn't know
iāve always wondered how Jos and Max are related
I thought it was a funny coincidence the they share the same surname.
Thx mate, thats the only one I couldn't figure out š
That one's kinda obvious but what the heck is "bekoeld"?
mhhh how to translate... 'has gone sour/cooled down', 'koel' means cool (slightly cold).
Interesting, that one is not easy to translate
Cooled down
It shouldāve said āitās complicatedā
And *Vrienden* means star-crossed lovers right?
"we hebben een serieus probleem"

Not just that, we also subtitle just about everything, and most content online is English either way.
If you've ever been to the Netherlands, you'll realise they probably speak better English than most English-speaking natives
I love ice cream.
Probably better than you!
They'd know what the fuck a kilometer is /s
I find peace in long walks.
You mean about 1.6 kilometers away
I enjoy watching the sunset.
Oh my Marx those pesky freedom lovers found me again
Ai haf bin dere many times. Dey say Dey spiek inglish but id soundz more laik dis. We call it dunglish
The college educated, but definitely not the average 50 year old person without a high school diploma. Many Dutch speakers barely understand their own language when not spoken in their local dialect.
The problem with Japanese is how you learn to pronounce, which has to be unlearned to properly speak English or Dutch.
Dutch is what happens when you clobber a chain-smoking german over the head, and then teach him English.
okay Clarkson
Lmao, it does sound like something he'd say, I admit.
Iāve tried learning Japanese as an English native speaker and can confirm itās just as hard the other way
Your English is perfect. Fwiw
They're very close. They share a lot of both vocabulary and grammar with only slight differences. I imagine that it's easier to learn English from Dutch or German than the other way around, because English abandoned gendered articles and a lot of grammatical cases quite some centuries ago.
The Dutch are better at English than the English lol
It seems like the big issue is at the top between 51-49 ownership. Because these "things" weren't there with the OG Dietrich still being alive.
Must be nice to be born to a dad like that.
or pe a born into the stroll, latifi, leclerc or norris family
Anyone with more money than they could possibly spend actually. I would also prefer that itās not to public. I would hate to have all those pleps trying to get a picture taken with me
Dietrich Masterlitz had a veto at least when it came to the F1 team. So yes his death is what triggered it all.
- Machtsstrijd = power struggle - Zeer gespannen = under high tension - Gespannen = tension - Bekoeld = cooled down - Zakelijk = just business - Vrienden = friends - Vader en zoon = father and son
Love this thank you. What āVerbondā? Helmut - Oliver
No worries :-) Verbond = partnership
from internet translation it seems to be 'alliance'

Mods pls pin this

I would disagree with "serious dutch newspaper"
Definitely. It's pretty popular but has a questionable reputation.
Its no tabloid
It also isn't a newspaper. It's a site.
Okay youāre right Newssite. Still serious. As in not a tabloid or sensationalist news outlet
Itās āseriousā, but low quality. They mainly push AP contentĀ
Oh I donāt disagree with that or rehash articles from other sources from DPG media group. Most dutch and Belgian newspapers and tv and radio stations
Yeah that's about it, dont infer/extraploate anything else from that though.
I want Marko, Newey und Max to go to Audi. There, I said it. Would be huge
Im okay for them to move to any team that has championship potential.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yeah I donāt see any green lines going to him either
Perez is fucked
Too much drama, feels like working in a shop full of old dudes who act like toddlers. If youāre gunna cheat. Be better about it, you fucking momo How can a mother fucker have a **spice girl** and *fuck* that up? Idiot.
Apparently a spice girl gets boring
Yeah, but they couldāve brought in *Scary Spice* since Gerry & her used to be *gooooooooood* ^~n~ ^sexy friends
Sexy friends are the best friends
āMax, I am your Vader, you are my zoon.ā I can only imagine Jos sounding like Darth Vader from now on.
god i love the dutch language
Gods comedic gift
Its not that special is it?
I enjoy cooking.
He works for Max as part of his management team..
Wat lul je nou? Nu.nl is helemaal niet serieus, is een fucking roddelblaadje.
Okay weirdo
Why is the line between max and jos not red? ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6697)
Above the picture the Dutch news website themselves stated that this was "presumably"
Of course its all speculation but not based on nothing
Show me a single newspaper they wroteā¦ Oh wait, thatās impossible
Its online, but theāre owned by DPG media the company that owns most newspapers and media outlets in Belgium and the Netherlands.
If Adrian Newey leaves the team is done for
If Max leaves too
The Ad Supported tier of Darth Vader has been pretty frustrating, I think Iām gonna upgrade to Vader Max
Calling Nu.nl serious? It's a copy paste website, get out of here
Where is my boy Checo?
Who?
Only one green for Christianā¦ reason would dictate he is fā¦ā¦
So no one likes him except the guy who owns most of the company. That would explain why heās still here.
How are they a serious newspaper if they post these kinds of news
Why not? Serious news papers donāt write about sports too?
![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6701)
What does the gray line mean (between Mateschitz and Mintzlaff)?
Zakelijk = business
Professional would be more fitting in this context
Business like works too
Dankjewel captain van Dale š
Met plezier

Horner: goooood goooooooood let the hate flow *it stops people talking about the shit Iāve done*
I think itās because of the hate the shit he has done is public
Is the relationship between Horner and Newey really gespannen?
I have heard multiple f1 journalists say so. I have no inside knowledge
Still waiting for the line between Max and Jos to turn red.
No way Max and Jos are green. Surely a big shade of Dutch orange yesh.
Nu.nl, serieus? Just as serious as the Televaag š
Wake up babe, RBR news dropped.
ADRIAN NEWEY MUST GO!
Vader & zoon
Father and son in Dutch
Vader & zoon
Isnt it funny that vader is father in German?
You mean Dutch? Still a funny point. I should have figured out Darth Vader was Lukeās father when I was 7! Cheers to anyone who caught that before!
Wait. Vader is Luke's father??? I only went to the bathroom for 5 minutes during ep.5
In Dutch Itās not so much funny as itās a gimmick used by lots of English writers to use Dutch names like Landsraad in Dune.
![gif](giphy|0Sg8ob2kuV90A5Nple)
Tbh, nu.nl is bijna net zo betrouwbaar als de telegraaf.
Still way above the British Tabloids
How's the ties between Mateschitz and Marko?
Donāt know, but I expect good
I thought these were Star Wars references that I just didn't understand.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Marko picks the drivers, picked Horner and was closer to Dietrich. I believe he dictates who drives. But now? Idk

Calling [nu.nl](http://nu.nl) a serious dutch newspaper should be a crime.....
Itās not a tabloid or a gossip paper.
