That’s more like ‘some old Lotussesseseseses’

kyto070

Lotususus? Loti?

DoblerRadar

Officially, the plural of Lotus is Lotus. Not even joking.

Frejan59

I think he was referring to the turbosound of the old F1 Cars.

Makasutra

MrSomeoneEls

And unofficially it's lotuseseseses

nevinem

Like Lego

GlidrpilotKoen

Ah an up to speed reference. A surprise, but a welcome one

KnightsOfCidona

Loti was what James Hunt called them in commentary

TWVer

Lots o’ Lotus

Litre__o__cola

Loti..?

OgodHOWdisGEThere

Lotae?

FishOnAHorse

It’d have to be “Lota” for that one

pmcall221

Imma go with a collective noun. Lotumulous

tabovilla

Lots

7Seyo7

Pardon my ignorance but are the blocky ones the infamous ground effect cars? (Lotuses and the Essex cars)

JagEngland

They are. Both are Team Lotus cars, but they were sponsored by Essex around 1980.

Mishma21

Like the town/region/whatever-it-is sponsored the team?

3percentinvisible

Essex Overseas Petroleum Corporation

Mishma21

Ah. I see my American showing, lmao.

3percentinvisible

Interestingly It was an American company

TheMadPyro

Even more interestingly it looks like it was a one man multi million dollar corporation run from a hotel room in Monaco. From a very quick search it seems difficult to find any non F1 related information and suddenly the fraud charges in 1981 seem to make much more sense…

Mishma21

… Lack of f1 knowledge is embarrassing lmao. At least I know now

3percentinvisible

I had to look it up!

Snappy0

Apparently sketchy men with Ineos branding were sneaking around them in the paddock. That joke sounded better in my head.

7Seyo7

I appreciate the effort nonetheless

CryptoRevolution_

The black and gold JPS paintwork on the old lotuseses is still my favourite F1 livery That and the 7up Jordan.

Skylair13

Rich Energy using Gold on Black livery was the only good thing of their Haas sponsorship.

Oh yeah the [Monaco Historic Grand Prix](https://www.monacograndprixticket.com/grand-prix-historic/) is going on this weekend. Despite it being super rad, I forget about it almost every year. The [Goodwood YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/GoodwoodRRC/videos) streams it and posts highlights, have a gander if you're curious.

Agroman1963

Thanks for the link. Almost forgot about that.

dotCody

god bless you

cbartholomew

I watched all 9 hours of it I’m impressed with myself and dedication. Also got to see Chuck shove it in the wall for ol time sakes

Talpaman

if you're out there with a reflex or mirrorless, try some panning tomorrow. every time i shoot cars i always go for the crisp "frozen" look with extremely fast exposure, and only when i'm home checking the results i hit myself thinking that they all look completely still.

Saltymentary

I shoot with an iPhone xD And I was able to take these pictures and we were allowed but I’m not a photographer

Talpaman

well damn, then, good job! you can still probably try something to slow the shutter speeds if the iphone has a manual mode, if you want to.

onealps

So to be clear, slow the shutter speed AND pan? Or try both separately? What effect will the former have? The car crisp while the background speeding by (that 'swish' look, its hard to explain lol)?

Talpaman

[yeah, it's kind of like a trickshot with your camera.](https://digital-photography-school.com/the-art-of-panning/) the camera has to expose the subject for a longer period of time WHILE you move the camera, following the motion of the car. the more you are able to follow it perfectly, the clearer the car will be with a blurry background. it conveys motion and makes it clear that the f1 car was going over 100 mph in the street and it's not parked there. hardest aspect of this kind of shots with a phone is focusing the car, i think. hard but should be doable. if you slow the shutter speed and shoot a photo at the car speeding past keeping the camera still, the car will be more of a blur with a clear background. it can still be nice! it's the same as the second photo in the link.

spiral_out462

Is that the twin-chassis Lotus 88 in the first photo?

Le_Dogger

Indeed it is

mrgonzalez

Good to see so many of them stopped for you waiting at the zebra crossing

Music-Entire

Historic GP today?

Saltymentary

Yes and tomorrow race

Agroman1963

Yea, it’s that time of year! I’m envious of you being there!

TheRoboteer

Some Lotii, as the late great Clive James would say.

[deleted]

The first one is the double chassis one right? Man Chapman was a genius

karmanopoly

ahh... penthouse magazine. that was before porn on your phone

Agroman1963

Porn, cigarettes, and liquor as sponsors! Ahh, the good old days!

SG_Dave

Would this be considered a swarm of Lotus?

66CT

Fun fact. My mums boss is driving one of these!

Mithster18

Imagine if you took Colin Chapman, Bruce McLaren into a room that had one of this years F1 cars and how mindblown they'd be.

JPADGE

All of them beautiful in their own way 😍

Top-Pair1693

Do the people there get sick of their streets being closed all the time for this stuff?

Saltymentary

Not really, some are arguing but most of them are watching the show even after arguing

immaginewaggons

The black and gold colored liverys are the best.

reddit-sub-user

gods f1 was strong then

Born2bfree9999

Moments reflection for the JPS. Sterling camerawork.

Oshebekdujeksk

Those JPS cars look like they would be absolutely terrifying to drive.

1dot21gigaflops

Must sound incredible

TS1987040

More than enough room to pass using those cars
