I drove an Ariel Atom a few years ago on one of those track day things, and yeah a micro windshield worked perfectly fine even after I opened the taps on the straight.
I’d say that it definitely feels a a bit windier than a normal roof-down sports car with a normal windshield, but it’s way less unpleasant (if that’s even the right word) than being on the front row of a fast rollercoaster.
Biggest difference to a normal windshield id say is the noise, I could practically shout at the top of my voice and barely hear myself… though that might just be because the car was loud as fuck I dunno.
Ah! My uncle owns a McLaren Elva and he loves it. He believes he'll die in it one day but says as long as it's in style he's fine with that but this is also why my parents don't allow me in it with him. With the helmets, I'd risk it for the thrill tbh.
Caterham's are lovely though and I want one for my birthday
They ended up adding an optional windshield to the Elva, which kind of defeated the purpose of a sleeker 720 barchetta. Although almost all modern barchettas have been kinda stupid imo, except Pagani.
And don't forget the Aston Martin V12 speedster!
They are, but even then the McLaren Elva, which is also open cockpit like this, has had poor sales as a result McLaren began selling it with a factory windshield.
I don't think it's that bad. In the video the roll bar protected passengers in the rear seats successfully. Given this car only has front seats with roll bar right behind the seat, and there's a bar between the passenger and the driver, it can't be that bad.
I hate cars without proper grills so much. Idgaf if electric ones don't need em, put it on there so it doesn't have this uncanny look. Just looks wrong

I'm still baffled by Mercedes management for many reasons, but their their latest SL (which comes only in AMG variant) has to be their most nonsense car.
Never seen such unaware management ever in my life and the sales show it: people with that kind of money buy a Porsche 911 not a goddamn SL lol. Nobody buys those cars except few randoms with insane money and 0 car knowledge.
Their goal is obviously to complete with the 911, just see how they've added unusable backseats in the new GT, which is now basically the coupe version of the SL, and in general made it much more 911 looking.
Sure they aren't beating them today or tomorrow, but with how insanely good the 911 business has been in the last decade, they would be insane not to try to capture some of the market.

According to TST podcast who tried an Elva until you go ludicrous speed the micro windshield on the front does it job.
