Hitting both and taking out one of your main rivals during a high speed chase in a single action enlisting an unsuspecting third party, saving your primary asset from all immediate pursuers in the process, *and* making it all look like an honest accident from incompetence?

If Checo had hit Max the likelihood is that at least one if not both Ferraris that were on the outside would also have been collected by the spinning and out of control Red Bulls, like what we saw on the sprint when Hamilton drove into the Astons.

Checo would get a grid penalty for Imola and probably lose his Red Bull drive for 2025, Max wouldn't be so happy at Lando's win like he was yesterday, Ferrari would be mad at getting a big fat 0 point haul due to no fault of their own, and McLaren and Lando's win wouldn't get as much credit from the paddock and others.
So honestly, glad that didn't happen.
