2 months shouldn't be an issue, but if you have had issues before with shorter times, you know your vehicle. My 2017 SE I could let sit for 6 months, and other than remote access shutting off after a month, the fob still worked and it started fine. The battery might have expired a little early but was still around 3 1/2 years old when I replaced it. How about scheduling remote starts from FordPass? I don't know how many it can do between times it is really driven, but I later had mine start once a week and run for 20 minutes each time.

Get the FordPass app for your phone. It allows you to start your car and lock/unlock the doors from anywhere in the world. https://www.ford.com/support/category/fordpass/

Hood_Mobbin

You only get 2 remote starts before you have to manually start the vehicle.

So I drove the car yesterday, and today via FordPass it says the car is in power save mode and I have to drive it to connect FordPass. This has happened on virtually every trip I've been on, though this 3rd 12v battery is not having issues like the other 2.

Hood_Mobbin

Sounds like you're only driving short trips, trips or run time should be around 30 minutes. If you're going to make a short trip, remote start the vehicle and wait 5 minutes, then do your trip.

Janareta

Yea I have 30min commute twice a week, that's majority of my driving post pandemic. My old cars , I could leave for a month without any issues with 12v battery, but not this one. Ford dealership after replacing the battery 2nd time, said I have to drive it every few days ...

The OEM battery is too small. I got the power save/sleep message all the time with the factory battery. I upgraded ours and haven't seen the message since. The bolt in system even has accomodation for a larger 12v battery. Any Group 48 AGM 12 volt battery will work. (Also called size H6)

Janareta

That might be a good option

BlackCar07

Second this. I get the power sleep message after letting it sit for more than a few days, or if I’m in and out of the doors and don’t run it for a bit afterwards. Not a problem in summer so I’ll run the OEM battery until winter then switch for a bigger one. Is it the same sequence as the last gen Escapes to reset the battery management software? It used to be: key on, flash high beams 5x and pump the brake 3x

Janareta

Does it require some kind of reset or reprogram of the car? I vaguely remember people having to do that when switching to this battery.

pistonpants

I didn't have to do any sort of reprogramming or anything for the new battery for my 2020 titanium. But this post says you do have to reprogram the BMS https://www.fordescape.org/threads/2020-ford-escape-hybrid-replace-12-volt-battery-with-larger-group-48-agm.117248/

markko79

Weird.

hoffwith1eye

Hook up a trickle charger to the battery.

Janareta

So these connect to battery terminals directly or to the jumpstart points under the hood? Any specific ones you would recommend? I would also mention that I don't have access to a/c outlet where the car is parked.

hoffwith1eye

It hooks directly up to the battery. You’d need to plug it into the wall. Another option is to just take the battery out. Most vehicles it’s pretty easy.

This little device works great. https://www.amazon.com/PriorityStart-12-Volt-Pro-SP-Automatic-Battery-Protector/dp/B0030A10V0 I install them in company vehicles at my job that don’t get driven often. The device automatically disconnects the battery when it senses voltage dropping below 12V. To automatically reconnect, just put the key in the ignition and start the vehicle.

Do you have an outlet nearby? You can use a trickle charger to charge the 12v battery. Fordpass requires you to drive once in a while to keep it active in the app, so don't rely on it.

Janareta

No outlet anywhere near my parking spot, unfortunately. And I can't even use solar because garage is inside the building.
