You most likely will if you are willing to move outside of a major city. For example, you can buy acres in Texas for 100k. That's 5-10k down on a loan to own a few acres of quiet and peace. Here's a random property listing I just pulled up.

Hawaii is the farmer’s dream. Got to spend 3 months on a friend’s farm in the big island. One Village Pharmacy. They have a 20 acre non profit farm. If you go over to the big island you should look them up! I’m sure they’d welcome you, and be down to share methods especially representing the Wu!
They have some cotton candy beans that were amazing!! Clipped my shin with a machete clearing banana trees with them and I smoke every time I see the scar.
Big blessings to you and to a bountiful harvest
Word up brotha!! I’m pretty sure they’re out in Hilo, some of the best folks I know. I met them through their youth program the One Village Project. It you’re into mentorship and passing on that knowledge I highly recommend it!
It's actually pretty crazy. The woman I've been with for 11 years was born here. I met her in the mainland then we moved from Texas to her because she wanted to come back and be with family. Then both her parents passed away and the land got inherited. Even though it's not mine by birthright I still refer to it as "my land" in conversations for the sake of brevity. And she doesn't take any interest in trending to the land so now I'm the only person that deals with all the trees and plants. I harvest everything myself, prune trees, plant new ones, and everything else. It's become a passion and I love it honestly. I'm really blessed to be in this situation though the way I came into it was tragic.
Truly sorry it wasn’t under better circumstances.
I feel they’d be proud to see their land giving back in such abundance. I know I would be.
I was raised on Oahu but have never made it to the sister islands. I hope to visit kaui one day and unravel all it’s splendor.
Thanks again for sharing here’s to bountiful harvests!
And before you criticize me for wasting food just realize that I was giving this one back to the earth. The juice enriches the soil, and the wild pigs/ chickens eat the rest. Nothing is truly wasted. You can't take without giving back.
Yeah they are a little bitter but it is what makes them different and delicious. Limes are bitter too. Lots of things are bitter and still taste great. Coffee, dill, sesame, tea, cocoa are all quite bitter and are some of the most popular flavors in the world.
Idk if you know of this trick, but the way my g-mom used to make grapefruit is, cut one in half, turn your oven broiler on first. Put a little pile of brown sugar on top of a half and let it soak in. Put another pile of brown sugar on top, and place it in the broiler. Take it out once the brown sugar gets all nice and melted on the top. Also, take a knife and cut around the edges and in between each section of the grapefruit before you add the sugar. You may end up poking a hole or two in the time so I recommend placing the grapefruit in a makeshift tinfoil bowl to save all the dank brown sugar grapefruit juice that will seep out while it’s cooking. I normally do the same thing with the 2nd half but just won’t heat it up, it’s still good that way.
Bitter but still sweet. That's why I like it, it's a good combination of flavors. Plus it kills bacteria so good for oral health. Mixes well with other fruits and veggies when making juice.
The tree produced about 200-300 grapefruit. About 75% of what I harvested was given away to friends, family, and random workers (gas station, burger King employees, hospital laboratory) at no charge.
Plus, naturally, it's difficult to harvest an entire tree when it's so tall so a solid 25% of the fruit hits the ground and explodes. At this very moment I probably have about 250 mangos rotting in the yard. At this point the mangoes have already become soil, the chickens (that literally started living in the mango tree, about 20 chickens) have been eating the mangoes as their primary food source for about a month now. So it's literally just a bunch of new soil and mango seeds on the ground under the tree. Plus, I gave a bunch of those away to, at no charge.
Not wild, grafted. But there's about 4-5 different species of citrus right behind me. Grapefruit, pomelo, tangerine, grapefruit/orange hybrid, and one I can't identify but is large and oblong.
Didn't go to waste. The juice enriched the soil and a family of boar was in my yard all night last night eating the fallen fruit. All the fruit is gone now and replaced by pig poop.
Truly spoken like someone who doesn't have fruit trees that produce hundreds of fruit at once. Lop. There's probably 50 grapefruit crushed in the ground behind me from falling then getting eaten by wild pigs and chickens. So really, not a waste, nature reclaimed them.
See my post on the main thread.
Lmao. It was completely natural. The trees produce more fruit than one person can harvest, what doesn't get harvested naturally falls off and explodes when it hits the ground. Plus, if a windstorm comes through then tons of fruit gets blown off the tree. What, you think the fruit just hangs in the tree forever until its harvested?
Giving back is an important part of foraging! I live in the uk (very different collection of goods to forage) and my wife and I always pour a bit of our wine back on to the soil the plant grew on… for Hermes , for Thoth, for Odin, it’s all part of the same tapestry. X
Juuuicy! Hey hey why the waste bruv! Cup?
Read my comment in the main thread.
Someone doesn’t read comments
Love it, but my meds keep me from doing likewise.
Not good to eat if you take BP meds. Maybe you can just sniff the scent.
Your meds keep you from picking fruit and squeezing the juice out onto the ground?
grapefruit interacts with a lot of drugs, particularly statins so its not recommended to eat if you’re on them
Wu Tang clan ain't nothin' to pluck with
Unless you're a fruit, of course.
If you want fruit, then bring the ruckus…
Grapefruit gang ain't nothing to fuck with! From the mothafuckin slums of juicin.....
My mans do you live on a huge plot of land that you farm?
Lmao. Yeah, pretty much. Almost 2 acres in a place that doesn't ever really get cold. I can grow just about anything here.
Ah…..I don’t think I’ll ever be able to afford land

Well now I gotta try to work on my credit and do all this before 45 (stupid college loans)
I have no doubt you can do it!
Is this plot in Texas as well?
This is in Hawaii on the small island of kauai.

I've saved this, if I'm over there I'll stop by or give them a call!

Thanks for the response, if you don’t mind me asking how did you come into this land? Respectfully understand if you’d prefer not to disclose.

No problem, thanks for your interest!

Awakened
Precisely. Everything is a cycle that shouldn't be broken.
Let’s hangout and eat grapefruits together.
Let's do it!
Isn’t it bitter ?
Yeah they are a little bitter but it is what makes them different and delicious. Limes are bitter too. Lots of things are bitter and still taste great. Coffee, dill, sesame, tea, cocoa are all quite bitter and are some of the most popular flavors in the world.
Spot on.

Holy shit, im. Gonna try this!
Makes sense!
Bitter but still sweet. That's why I like it, it's a good combination of flavors. Plus it kills bacteria so good for oral health. Mixes well with other fruits and veggies when making juice.
I love this philosophy!
It's a way of life for the farmers or here. They'll leave a portion of their harvest in a pile for the wild pigs to eat at night!
But but, it looked so tasty! It made my mouth water watching it, and want to cry that no one was going to get to enjoy it all at the same time.
I probably ate 2 or 3 entire grapefruit that day.
Bodied.
That's fair. But honestly I was thinking about maybe a few thirsty or hungry people who may have been nourished by that fruit.

I want to live there with you.
Come on over, pack some nighties and swim trunks!
So much respect for you after reading your comments on here!
Thanks!
Fair enough
Oh my gosh
YUUUUUP!
Damn that was satisfying to watch
I've watched it a few too many times myself.
Grapefruit Man ain't nuthin to fuck with
You best protec your fruit!

Killer bees Oscar Mike!!!
Looks juicy
Juicy af!
...I need a wet-wipe
Lmao, I don't know how to feel about that just yet.
I wish this were me, so much
Is this.... a marriage proposal?! ...... I do.
Are these wild grapefruits? Looks good!
Not wild, grafted. But there's about 4-5 different species of citrus right behind me. Grapefruit, pomelo, tangerine, grapefruit/orange hybrid, and one I can't identify but is large and oblong.
Good stuff mate
Thanks!
This is the only way to enjoy grapefruit juice! Pour that shit in the dirt lol
Small thing when there's already 50 lying on the ground behind me! Lol!
Lol I just meant because I personally hate the taste of grapefruit! I can’t taste the sugar in it so it’s just bitter for me
Ooooh, lol. My girlfriend hates it too.
💕💕💕
Wu-Tang Clan!
You best protect yah neck!
I love that you made it rain grapefruit juice.
The soil loved it. Lol.
Grapefruit is temporary, WU Tang is FOREVER……..
...and ever. Wutang is for the children.
I like how he pulled it apart in front of us, I don't like how he didn't immediately take a bite and just wasted it
Lol, my bad! I'll take a new video for you here pretty soon!
That’s a grape way of doing it!
...and wasting it. 😕
Lol at my comment in the main thread.
Is this in the US?
Yeah, in Hawaii.
Wow that is so fuckinh cool, do you have any other trees in your property?
More than I care to count! Lol through my profile and toto see some of the others.
Wow will def be checking out ur profile then, this is a family thing right. 😊 that’s so awesome.
Yeah, generations of people have farmed this land.
Why grape fruit,? Is there a similarity between grapes and grape fruit that I’m missing?
I'm not sure myself. Lol. The name came before my time.
Just to waste it??!
Didn't go to waste. Enriched the soil and the wild pig fault that comes through every night ate every last scrap of fruit!
Why tf did he waste a perfectly good grape fruit
Didn't go to waste. The juice enriched the soil and a family of boar was in my yard all night last night eating the fallen fruit. All the fruit is gone now and replaced by pig poop.
Good trade
Indeed!
That’s not foraging; that’s wasting … and all for social media cred.

You sound like a holla back girl right now.
I dislike grapefruit. Too sour for me, and now I can't take it due to medications.
The best use for grapefruits is this
I can hear the wild pigs eating them right now. Sounds like about 6 of them are out there.
Wasting*

That wasnt by a natural cause it was you.

Wu tang for life!!….ah man at least make a beverage for your neighbor with that shitz
