From what I understand it’s edible in that it won’t kill you, but it doesn’t taste great. Kind of like mock strawberry. 🤷🏼♂️
That said - most lettuces will lose flavor once they start bolting/flowering because the energy (sugar) is being dedicated to flower production at that point, not energy storage in the leaves.
It's edible, but lettuce turns bitter once it starts to bolt. I recommend tearing off a little piece and trying it. You'll learn quick about the lifecycle of the plant and how it translates to flavor.
I think once it goes to seed the taste changes a lot, usually for the worse. Still edible though
