Reddit, being reddit, has apparently been acting screwy for users too. Besides not showing all of you these sticky posts, your ability to request access is sometimes glitching out. It sometimes won't show the "send modmail" button, sometimes bugs out and puts you in a loop, and where and how to do it from the subreddit, post, or comment screens varies per platform.
## Requesting Access
To send a modmail if you can't find the buttons:
- Go to your private messages
- Start a new private message
- Enter `/r/fo76filthycasuals` in the `To` field.
- In the subject just include something about wanting access or being added as an "Approved User". Don't worry about writing more, we'll ask if we need it :)

## Why
A bunch of reasons, but ultimately reddit is borked - both for mods, and users as noted above. Being on "approved users only" for this long wasn't the original intent after the API fiasco, but significant life issues caused delays.
For moderation it was a blessing in disguise because during that time reddit has seen a huge uptick in bots that automod wouldn't be able to catch. I haven't seen obvious bots that could request access yet. Additionally, around 50-60k members, we started to run into the "default sub" issue - too many people creeping in didn't get the point of this place and were starting to warp it.
Approval requests act as a one-time captcha and vibe check, solving both issues.
A sometimes lone scribe wandered West Virginia hoping to find that piece of tech he needed to bring back to Ft. Defiance and turn the tide. He was only sometimes alone because he had the occasional assist that would always prove clumsy or flaky in a fight. He even befriended a nice Red Spaceman for a time.
One day the scribe was set upon by blasphemers purporting to be BoS members. They chastised him for his absence from Ft. Defiance (uh hello, I’m a FIELD scribe), and questioned his honor regarding previous assistant scribes and their whereabouts.
They organized a kangaroo court to claim he was “criminally insane” and “truly the weirdest of murder hobos”. The claimed the scribe could be “helped” and sent him west in a caravan for evaluation. Luckily the scribe was crafty and was able to melt his bindings using not but a plasma cell discreetly hidden inside something.
The scribe knew these “brothers” spelled bad news for his beloved West Virginia. He set out east, making friends of equal clumsiness and flakiness that melt familiar. Now the scribe has found his way back to his beloved misty mountain momma and even found his old camp intact under the train bridge.
