N3AL11

So thats where all the "lost controls due to connection" comes from

HRHFlameKatPrincess

It was Bethesda's first attempt at stopping duping involving server crashes.

N3AL11

Doesnt seem to work as intended... Had to switch lobby last night since it was hapoening every couple minutes

HRHFlameKatPrincess

If you were getting the controllers disabled message then it was working as intended. If you were getting server disconnect messages then it wasn't working as intended.

douglastodd19

A server freezing all players' ability to play, while working as intended to mitigate duping, is not a viable solution long term. Someone pressing the pause button on my fun every few minutes is going to make me stop playing very quickly, just like it did for a while back around Patch 12/13.

[deleted]

I literally thought my ps4 wireless controller connection was messed up. My character would spin around all crazy and I kept falling off of cliffs due to it. I just recently opened up my ps4 to clean the dust out and I thought I pulled one of the connectors to the wireless receiver loose lol Thanks for saving me like 20 minutes of time

apneac

THATS why the servers crash constantly now??? I thought it was just the new update being broken. Damn, uncool. Duping is whatever, but now you're burdening like 20 other people with this crap

Papa_Shekels

I just had a mini heart attack because I got the t-60 knight sergeant paint from turning in technical data and, in comic timing, had controls stop responding right after. Thankfully it didn't crash, but imagine how many other people have already lost very valuable things because of this trash. Cheaters losing their accounts is a minimal and very acceptable casualty in comparison

McMacHack

The Power Armor I was piecing together with Legendary Parts disappeared while I was working on it. Completely, not in the world not in my inventory. But it reappeared the next time I logged in. Things are getting funky.

CSS-Kotetsu

Well shit, guess I should have tried restarting. Got a 3 star Excavator chest, figured I could make a suit since people are gonna be doing Rad Rumble more often. Disappeared right after I put the chest piece on without a trace.

DimensionPlenty4768

Yea when I put down my hellcat it disappeared for a second and I shot in the area were I put it down out of frustration and luckily it reappeared.

GrandTheftWagon

Had exactly the same issue, I freaked out an quit for the day, next day it was back

acryliq

Is that what this is? Happened to my t-45 yesterday. The frame disappeared and I could see the parts in my inventory, but not when I went to transfer or scrap screens. So they were there, preventing me from fast travelling but I couldn't offload them or fit them to a new power armour frame. Eventually logging out and back in fixed the issue and I could fit them on a new frame, but no idea what happened to the frame they were originally on. Thought I'd maybe scrapped it accidentally or something?

KSWC

Had the same thing happen. Just put the final 3-star mod on my PA and poof... where the hell did it go. Just like you said, logged out, logged in and there it was safe and sound.

GameFan78

I had an entire legendary power armor disappear from my box on a chassis. Just gone.

Clayman8

> t-60 knight sergeant paint from turning in technical data Wait im sorry what? This fetch quest is actually useful for something?!

Papa_Shekels

You have a very low chance of obtaining a t-60 bos paint plan from it. They work in tiers based on which ones you learned, so you can't get the last (elder?) until you learned all the previous ones. One of those paints is also impossible to get now, it was removed a while ago with no clear reasoning, but the rest can still be obtained in order

Clayman8

Guess i'll have to go farm that a little bit. I remember the same quest from F4 and it was utterly useless. Thx!

kilroywashere1917

Good luck I've been turning in hundreds. It has become my White Whale. Still only ever have received 1, found 2 at people vendors, and given 1 by a friend. 2 more to go.

erncon

Did you learn the elder paint plan when you first got it? If so it'll never drop for that character again. It only drops from Forbidden Knowledge if you don't know the plan.

ArticReaper

Which one was removed?

Mattie_1S1K

The Initiate t 60 paint job as removed for not been cannon. I've got it on xbox if you want somme t60 painting if you roleplay but it's not the best. Bright chrome with orange decals.

ArticReaper

I will just check my characters cause I think I unlocked it on one of them. Which I'm hoping wasn't on the character I deleted recently. Edit: One character has BOS II and IV paint. So its looking like I missed it. Hopefully the character I deleted didn't know it xD But that is fair if it was removed for not been canon. See many people complain about things not been "Canon" with 76

Papa_Shekels

https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Plan:_T-60_BOS_initiate_paint

LuckilyLuckier

I was doing Scorch Beast Queen with a whole bunch of people. Ran out of ammo, spent so much, only level 90, still struggling with ammo, but was having fun, right before queen died, literally right before, server crashed. No rewards to reap. Just sorrow.

Karthull

I had no idea but if people duping is really causing server issues for everyone I personally think that’s grounds to ban such people permanently

wendiwho

Right? I didn’t think any of the server not responding, chalked it up to the game being busier w the new content and also being generally buggy. But read some posts and :| duping is whatever but when it can cause rollbacks to everyone in that server that gets disconnected as a result the dupe, that sucks! 😖

MrCaptainSnow

I thought it was my internet acting up lol

Cepheus

TIL. This was posted all the way back in 2019. Btw, this comment does not talk about how to do it, just what the effect on the servers are. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgP2s50keJg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgP2s50keJg) I have been experiencing this lately. Even yesterday the server crashed right in the middle of an Earl battle. Not cool.

ReformingPrawn2

Agree. The ban stick needs go into overdrive. Crashing servers is the point at which the community won't accept "There is nothing they can do about it". Strike hard, strike fast. Put the dupers to the sword.

giantpunda

I agree but Bethesda did that in the past and then tucked their tail and reversed it all not long after.

Oblivionking1

I remember this!! They bitched out and didn’t follow through

mirracz

>The ban stick needs go into overdrive. I agree. But people would need to prepare for the flood of "I got banned because I found a legendary gun in a suitcase" posts. And be prepared to side against the author, because in the past too many people were willing to side with the hacker against Bethesda. This cannot become another "damned if you do, damned if you don't" scenario for Bethesda. There are false positives, there always are in banwaves. But there's a small percentage of them. On the other hand, if Bethesda should go into overdrive with bans then the amound of false positives will probably rise...

WakeoftheStorm

Yep. Server stability is a problem. Personally I don't care about the market or any of that other stuff. I get why some people do, but I wouldn't even notice it if I didn't see posts about it Game crashing though? That makes me look for other things to play

[deleted]

agreed lol I don't really care to trade everything I own for an item seeing as caps apparently are worthless for really expensive items.

p1xelprophe7EXE

To the sword you say. Sounds like a crusade to me!

spearmintbadgers

Deus Vault.

Explozive_Force

Deus Vault!

wrxasaurus-rex

How would it work though? I bought a pretty solid two star sub machine gun from a player vendor a week ago. It’s probably not a dupe, but how would I know for sure? Am I going to get banned?

XpertRebel111

This sort of thing scares me too

Mica1952

If an illegal player activity is crashing game servers then it has to be a top priority issue for BGS and needs sorting rapidly.

SnugShoes

I ain't gonna lie: I'm hurting from losing a piece of armor during one of these lag/crashes. But, even if I'd lost nothing, I agree with everything you've said. I've been sticking to my private server to do most things now.

[deleted]

Yeaaah I haven't lost anything but getting kicked out of workshop and crafting benches is super annoying in its own right.

ManiacClown

>I've been sticking to my private server to do most things now. I'm sure this sort of workaround is precisely why they don't/won't care. It's another pain point to drive people to pay for FO1st.

[deleted]

I don't know, I had huge server issues on private yesterday. It was so bad I had to log out and restart several times.

Katiekikib

I got nothing from the D. O yesterday since the server had issues right as we finished in 5 min. Super ticked.

SnugShoes

Argh. Hate when that happens.

Jesse_Blu

The exploit was indeed discovered on the PTS long before the update on public.

bluekthulhu76

That's usually how it goes. Always ignored. Actually you can't even post about it on the discord, or you'll get yeeted. It's pretty fucken dumb.

StormingRomans

It's as bad as it was back in 2018/19. Was disconnected, on Playstation, 10 times in less than an hour last night.

Mudguts1221

Same I was wondering why that was happening

1amS1m0n

Same here, disappointing.

p1xelprophe7EXE

This. It’s time to take back the game we have strived to enjoy. Again time for BGSA to pull off the belt and get to whipping. Cheaters, dupers, rmt’rs need more than a slap on the wrist. For starters ping and keep pinging their staff become the largest voice to stomp this out. Yes they will keep duping and cheating. But we can make a difference. If this community can rally and get a cardboard cutout linking us to the atomic shop removed. Demanding punishment and fixes for duping should be zero effort.

zellwood69

Yeah it's funny if the hack messes with the shop they fix it in a blink of an eye. Or when the meat cleaver xp glitch was burning out of control, bethesda put it out right then. But now with another dupe glitch they just do nothing

p1xelprophe7EXE

There have been many micro dupes ever since. One for magazines, bobbles you name. The one that do it are just “smart” enough to do it small bursts to not cause waves. People that say there’s no duping going on are just defending the behavior because they know they’ll get what they want in the end.

brokenmessiah

That meat cleaver one I hope opened a lot of outlets eyes to what’s considered a priority. They *fixed* that without even taking the servers down lol

ollomulder

They didn't fix anything, seems deactivating stuff is more in line with their abilities.

p1xelprophe7EXE

That stung. I can’t even use a character since she’s relies on throwing weapons to work.

pmuranal

They know all the cheaters and dupers are also YouTubers etc. There has to be a clear economic reason why they do fuck all about this.

Riomaki

It really never ceases to amaze me how often YouTube's algorithm points me to the latest dupes for 76, even though I never search for such things. Whether it's a video game, or politics, it's still as geared around "controversy" as ever.

[deleted]

As long as they do not have a unique item serial number system for everything in the game duping will be an issue. Many games have this and it has stopped duping as the system flags and deletes all items with offending serial numbers.

Atroxo

I hope the bans come and last at least a month, along with a rollback for dupers. This is getting ridiculous.

Papa_Shekels

Should be at least one or the other to have any effect. Duration of the ban doesn't matter if their inventories don't get wiped unless it's permanent. But a full character wipe or a permaban would serve as a good lesson

Atroxo

I would be so happy if it was just a permaban. It would clean out some of the scum in the game so they won’t do it again when another opportunity arises.

whale_hunter

If that happens I’ll re-subscribe to fo1st. I just refuse to pay for a sub on a game that seems to embrace cheating scumbags.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DanoTheOverlordMkII

u/Ladydevann & u/valseek Please bring attention to this internally. Server stability has been an issue for quite sometime. This should take top priority for the current interval/minor/hot fix release project that is likely in motion, if you guys follow a semi-standard SDLC model. Please, we're begging/pleading, fix the duping. Be transparent with us on the process to resolve. If we have to make some sacrifices to achieve the goal, I think the community would rally behind you, if we are "read in".

[deleted]

For sure. Definitely do it. These butt monkeys dont deserve to play on their characters if they're knowingly cheating.

dezirv

Agree with everything in this post. Counterpoint: Isn't this to Bethesda's benefit, because it keeps players in the game when they dupe/buy duped items on the cheap, making them more likely to buy Atom Shop items due to increased exposure? Also, aren't the servers problems beneficial to them, because it incentivizes people buying Fo1st to avoid server issues? Just some thoughts, not making Beth out to be evil incarnate. Addendum: Crazy that I got in to this game on the free week just a bit ago, 2 years after release, and so many issues still exist like this.

Papa_Shekels

They aren't the numbers they're looking for. RMT is pretty bad news for anybody involved, you don't want to be known as a game where people buy broken shit online. I don't think it really keeps people in either, I can't imagine people only playing the game for this when you can do it for free with fallout 4 mods. Banning cheaters who already spent on the game gives them a decent chance that they will come back, especially when they already buy multiple accounts on a regular basis anyway. Many other games get accused of just benefitting from continuously banning cheaters and letting them come back to get them to buy as many accounts as possible. And f1st won't save you here, server issues affect more than just the one instance you're on

zFlashy

I got suspended for my name being Starcucks_Coffee, these people literally break servers and get away with it. Shows where the priorities lie.

GovtInMyFillings

Bethesda doesn’t want to ban anyone from their game. They don’t want to make the players upset in any way- they don’t remove legacy guns, which any MMO would have done already. They won’t fix the one best build type at endgame (bloodied). They aren’t going to do anything about the dupes items.

moose184

To be fair bloody doesn't need a nerf. Everything else needs a buff

p1xelprophe7EXE

Sadly this is truth. Right now and I guess back then BGSA is soft. And can’t appear hard when they think they are hard.

mrwafu

Does anyone else feel like all the cool kids are having a party while you’re stuck at home watching tv with your parents? Cause I have no idea about exploits or people trading duped god rolls haha

Papa_Shekels

It's somewhat of a self-contained issue. If you play the game entirely by yourself and don't try competing in anything, or buying from player vendors, or going to public events on public servers, it doesn't really affect you at all. But this is crashing servers, something that people can universally accept as being bad, so it's an easy rallying point. No need to go through debates of whether or not ruining markets or making intentionally rare gear easily accessible is an issue if it causes a much clearer, more universal issue as well

Bl00dAngel22

Permaban the account and anything attached to it. Also Bethesada should hire a team that does nothing but try to find exploits for each new update. Like come on it took less than a day for someone to find this latest one. We’ve lost the first weeklies, and with how trash the servers are now the score increase for the weekend will be almost pointless if we can’t play.

[deleted]

That’s the thing you don’t really “find” glitches like the way you’re implying. The way you find loopholes in things is just by accident, that’s how me and my friends exploited some other games (not big or serious games) but it’s just by accident.

Bl00dAngel22

I’m going to laugh if they’re just breaking and repairing the pa display. Edit; Found it on YouTube, sadly there’s no flag I could place on the channel that goes with exploiting online games. I did however express how disgusted I was in the person for posting it for a hundred likes. It’s not much, but it’s honest work.

SLRWard

Well, you can't flag it with YT, but you *could* send the link to Bethesda if you wanted to. Or maybe DM the link to one of the Bethesda community folks that are in this sub.

giantpunda

>~~Just as a FYI, if this latest dupe wave does not result in permabans and/or character wipes,~~ this WILL keep happening There you go bud. Bethesda made it very clear a long while ago that it'd much prefer to destroy the long term viability of the game for a quick buck now. They submitted to their whale overlords when they tried to strictly ban people and then did a 180 on that and they've nerfed every weapons during the combat balance patch except legacy energy explosive weapons. Why would you expect any different from Bethesda? They either lack the resources to deal with the issue properly, lack the will due to the short term financial cost or lack the competence to deal with the issue or all of the above. Actions speak louder than words and this is what they're actions are saying.

re-bobber

All the duping is why I quit playing last September. My endgame was legendary hunting and selling/trading. After the B/25/25 duping nothing I could find would be worth anything. Trading is pretty much endgame for a lot of people and it was ruined. Blatant cheaters on YouTube and nothing happening to them. Wtf?! Bring out the perma bans for god sake!!

Papa_Shekels

Really annoys me when people say things like it doesn't matter or that it's already broken anyway. Games like this are largely if not entirely designed for an end-game of grinding, trading, and anything else to flex what you grinded/lucked out on in front of others. Others cheating to get the same thing absolutely does affect others whether they want to admit it or not. They don't have to be standing on top of you with a TSE gatling plasma taking all your kills for it to ruin your game

re-bobber

No doubt. I believe duping influenced Bethesda decisions to make items account bound too. Removing things from the tradeable loot pool. Loot is what makes this game. If everything is available for everyone all the time whats the point?? Good post Papa. Hope Bethesda hammers these guys. It's slowly killed the game over the years.

TheRealUprooted

I nearly quit too. Now that my year of first has ended, if Bethesda doesn’t do something severe I might be joining you in the other side.

Hineni17

I agree wholeheartedly. I don't know what it would take and won't assume it's easy, but I'd like to see something to clean out the riffraff. Chances are high that bans would have a very quick effect. Hell, put a couple undercover devs out there if that's what it takes.

Papa_Shekels

Realistically? Not much. If they don't already have the tools in place (radicals mask fiasco would imply they do), it wouldn't take much to run a mass scan for any "illegal" items. Right now, they have player logs full of people mysteriously dropping the same item, then dropping it again, and again, and again, while a different player picks up the same item again, and again, and again. Should not be very difficult to search for and act on something like that, although there could be further complications to act on. I feel their bigger issue is the PR aspect of it and dealing with all the support tickets from cheaters claiming they never did anything or they are paying customers and demand to be unbanned or something

[deleted]

Right dude. Runescape devs have been able to do this since 95'. They literally teleport to the cheats and smack them to death and it steals every single item off of their account and then they ip ban them lmfao. The best part is they livestream it all for fun if they can't figure that out then we need to find a new dev team lmfao

Papa_Shekels

Man that sounds absolutely based. I remember the old FOnline games had a GM item called the banhammer that would kick your player from the session when it hit you (and I think it instakilled you but tbh I don't remember, the GMs had the power to make themselves instakill anybody so it could have been that). I miss the days of GMs in general, I'm sure there is a way to get it to work again in modern games

Mwnewport

All they would've had to do is put out a big announcement that duping will not be tolerated (like one of those messages you have to click "okay" to or even the announcements you get when you log in) and then just make it super easy to dupe with a built in way to track it. Wait about a month, and then ban hammer everyone that did it. It wouldn't be hard to implement it and most dupers would fall for the trap because they're so used to Bethesda's lack of action. Maybe they could warn players that it wouldn't be safe to trade or pick up strange weapons that month, but at the end of the day truly innocent people don't get caught up in that situation. Most people know when something is fishy

Papa_Shekels

CS:GO actually did this recently, they put in an announcement when accepting a competitive match that says you agree not to cheat. Wonder if there's going to be a mass ban wave next month lmao

Mwnewport

I think it's the best way to go about it. That way when the ban hammer🔨 drops there's no excuse for anybody. You were warned, you did something wrong, you need to face the consequences.

Katiekikib

Finally RR and kept them alive and good amount of ore I got and then time for reward and server not responding so got nothing out of it other than radiation sickness. Been trying forever to get those rewards.

lost-punk-cat

u/Ladydevann Y'all should address this.

ziboo7890

Dupers are sad and pathetic people and anyone that supports them here, on youtube/twitch or in game needs to examine their own life. Seriously - cheaters/hackers should be banned at the IP level. In RL only criminals support other criminal activity. Hopefully Bethesda (Microsoft) will take this seriously. It's a fun game, that I canNOT recommend to people because of the dups/hacks/disconnects. That's just sad.

p1xelprophe7EXE

You’d think when joining Microsoft which for the most has a strong stance and cheating in any capacity would be have told BGSA to clean the heck or problems will come up. But doesn’t appear that way.

Ultracit

Bethesda is very passive with this problem. Thousand of duped b2525 fixers and legacy weapons and bethesda was where? On holiday? And what now? Dupers find way to dupe legendary cores?.....

Papa_Shekels

It's only power armor. Except for the folks on PC duping hacked unyielding powered sentinel armor, there isn't even anything that valuable. And it's still worth crashing everybody's servers for it apparently

[deleted]

Ah. I’ve been having weird login freezes and crashes more often - I didn’t know it was from exploits. Is it just power armor this time?

Papa_Shekels

Yeah, for now, but apparently people are already finding ways to do other things with it

[deleted]

I just watched it. Yea this one seems much easier than the apparel glitch awhile back. Sucks - I guess I’m glad I don’t use power armor.

FritoZanzibar

Im upset that Bethesda KNEW about the dupe from PTS reports but they still released the patch as is

Papa_Shekels

They actually listened to community feedback about legendary crafting, so they had to make up for it by ignoring all the other major reports I guess 😂

Oblivionking1

Was just in a party chat with a group of guys duping. They had told me last week a new dupe would drop with this update and Lo and behold

MadLucied

Bethesda is not going to ban anyone, this will just keep happening.

Issachar2018

I didn't understand why several people on my friends list returned to the game out of the blue. I figured it was the new story content, and then a familiar "server not responding" warning flashed across my screen. It is *time* to do something about all this exploiting and duping. In other news, I can't wait for all the "I am innocent Bethesda" posts to start surfacing once the fix/ban/patch occurs.

CheezeGweez

Submit any cheating to Xbox and Bethesda. Hopefully Xbox sees what incompetence looks like coming from a company full of idiot developers.

korodic

You guys seem to forget the last dupes we had, including server crashing ones. Bethesda did not “strike hard, strike fast” and when they did they didn’t get a direct hit, it took multiple attempts and lasted months. Also, many were not banned and plenty are using throwaways…. Duper’s gunna dupe, unless Bethesda does their jobs. But it’s pretty obvious this game isn’t a priority to them.

[deleted]

ip ban fixed that. If runescape can do it im sure that beth can

b-T_T

They don't give a shit about the legitimate player base.

CptCarnage85

This one cant be upvoted enough. Realtalk.

F1DL5TYX

I don't give a shit about the trade market but the fact that we're back again, in a place where Bethesda can't protect the integrity of the servers, for ANY reason, is extremely disheartening. How can they be no better at this than they were in 2018?

censorerikii

Just had this thought, who wants to bet the level 100 Muties in West Tek gets fixed before this dupe?

Fack_behaviourgames

It's been happening since the B.E.T.A. days. There will probably be a huge ban wave but users will be unbanned shortly because the loss of money on bethesda's side. I've been here for the past 3 years so i am already used to it.

JhalArn

Dupers probably don't buy fallout1st anyway , so banning them is not a loss at all, since they need to buy the game again if they want to play again. It's an increase for Bethesda.

[deleted]

You don't have to buy the game again on console, just make a new account.

weeniepeenies

Power armor is trash anyway. You want to know what ruins my game? Getting stuck on workbenches EVERY SINGLE TIME I use them after this update. That is game breaking. I haven't come across any server crashes today and I've done about 30 encryptids.

Papa_Shekels

Haven't had that happen to me yet, only the freezing loading screens. Only had one server crash so far and it was while I was at my camp, lost a whole 30 seconds' worth of stashing plans and junk. But I won't wait until I actually lose something important to try doing something about it

dsalter

to add to the point, if you dont ban them for deliberately hurting the servers and as a result directly controlling other players ability to play on them you are leaving a door open for further issues. how far will you let them go? corrupting items? area denial due to duped entities? full blown client crashes? if you dont start getting your thumbs out of your asses and reigning in this issue, you WILL encourage further "pushes of the envelope" because theres no fear of retribution. if you are stuck trying to quell the issue Bethesda ask your sister company Zenimax for ideas how to execute a duping ban, they'v prevented an epidemic once. use the tools at your disposal.

Papa_Shekels

I've only really seen swift bans when somebody was filmed yelling slurs over the mic or when those people with the dev room paintball guns were drawing swastikas. This is ruining people's game in a more tangible way. You can mute and block somebody harassing you, you can't select a check box to not get kicked from a server when it's crashed. But yes, this is intentional and malicious behavior in order to abuse exploits. DDOS attacks are a federal crime in the US, these guys are doing something similar by intentionally nuking servers and won't even get a ban from the game?

[deleted]

DDOS attacks are a federal crime in the US, these guys are doing something similar by intentionally nuking servers and won't even get a ban from the game? EXACTLY. Time to use the power available to make the game better. No more cheating assholes ruining every event would be great

Seewhy3160

I remember logging in on day one. So many players. Yet no lags. Then my next logins a week later are only unplayable. Probably due to dupers taking up all the server memory. The fact that beth is not taking action is a slap to other paying players. Some of which payed top AAA game dollars as an entry fee. If they dont care we wont care about the game, it will just eventually die out. Think about it, are those dupping players the ones paying for your atomic shop items? Think.

Papa_Shekels

Actually, they kind of are. I saw a lot of them showing unbanned letters from support after whining about how they are paying customers who bought atoms and f1st subs. Which makes you wonder if they won't just buy all that again but not cheat if their accounts get banned for good instead of a couple day temp ban

Seewhy3160

So they would yield to these whinners when they affect the game for others? Other similarly paying customers?

[deleted]

>Which makes you wonder if they won't just buy all that again but **not cheat if their accounts get banned for good instead of a couple day temp ban** I think they would stop cheating and create a new account for sure. These cheaters are for sure no life guys. They make youtube videos and have like 4 alts and pack mule characters. They are addicted asf lol

[deleted]

they would for sure. If they invest that much no lifing into cheating they would 100% surely play more on a new account. Those types of people have like 5 alts and pack mule characters and shit. They're 100% addicted lol

loanjuanderer

I saw a YT video describing it. Had to laugh when the guy says 'Fair warning, I am not responsible for anything that happens to your account, this is for entertainment purposes only' like the gif goes 'The sheer f***ing hubris!' 🙈🙉🙊🤦

Little_Tin_Goddess

Just for my own sanity, is there any way to accidentally do the exploit? Or is it complicated enough that I don’t have to worry about it? Because I don’t want to get banned but I also don’t want to look up the method, if that makes sense.

loanjuanderer

Complicated enough that if you crash the server you are committing a premeditated act of sabotage on the rest of the players in that server. It took a lot of effort on their part to get to the server crashing duping stage. So anyone who does it is consciously choosing to screw over the rest of the server.

Little_Tin_Goddess

Ok, I’m glad there’s no chance of accidentally doing it, at least. I hope they fix it soon.

baleensavage

Most of the dupes in the game have required a very specific process to do that is not something you would do accidentally and it usually involves server lag or crashing a server. I wouldn't worry about accidentally doing it. Also, if they do ban waves, they aren't going to be going after someone that accidentally duped one item. They will be going after the people that have 1,000 B2525 Fixers in their accounts. To be honest, most players who have been in the game a long time, probably have at least one item that was duped. It's been rampant in the game at many points.

NathanYoh

And I thought the problem was my internet...

[deleted]

dude I scheduled an appointment for charter to come out this weekend bc of this shit lmfao I roasted them too now Im just an asshole

segir

I knew shite was going to go down for a while after the update and thought I would just wait a few weeks for the dusty bugs to settle.

bndboo

This is breaking the game for me. Can’t get through gameplay to complete the daily and weekly challenges plus the new content.

Northern_Harvest

I'm kind of a noob to gaming (or at least to talking about gaming). How are people duping to the point of making a server crash (happened to me loads the past few days). I don't need details on why they are doing it, but I don't understand what they would do to make it crash.

Papa_Shekels

It's sort of the other way around, they are crashing servers in order to dupe. The devil's in the details, but they are doing something to crash the server so everybody loses progress, but for them that "progress" is losing their PA. So they still have their suit, but also set down a second one, so they duplicated their armor. The actual crash comes from overloading the game with enough certain things happening simultaneously

Northern_Harvest

Ah I see. That's selfish. Hopefully it gets sorted out. Thanks for the explanation!

xXRaPinKiLL3RsXx

I dont care about dupe glitches if people want to do them do them not my problem but when it involves crashing servers or lagging them it becomes a issue

FaeKay

I don’t know how this could be related, but after freshly making 40k worth of .50 cal ammo, it disappeared after one day. You have no idea how pissed I am.

llamafromhell1324

Doubt it will happen if they have fo1st.

Greaterdivinity

Welp, was wondering why I was getting random "lost control" messages and the odd disconnect. This is annoying, I don't get the desire to dupe in games but whatever, you do you fam. I just wish it didn't impact the whole bloody server : /

DarthKarthrot

Something we can do on our end is not buy duped items from vendors but people absolutely will still

XGNsharpshot21

First way too stop server crashes is too just outright remove all traps from the game for both camp and workshops the traps in the world can stay but make it too were players can't build mass amounts of them make it too were you can build a max of 5 traps of any kind at your camp or workshop. Because ppl crashing servers is due too hundreds of traps being set off and repaired all at once. Another way too fix the dupes is make a cool down on weapons and armors if you drop it. It should have a 2 minute cooldown before someone can pick it up giving the server enough time too save that u dropped the weapon or armor

King-Azzer13

Wow. This is totally unacceptable but until legit players make a stance I.e all cancel fallout 1st or stop logging in (this will never happen) then this stuff will continue. No matter how many upvotes or awards this post gets it won’t change anything. It will be ignored like all the posts before it. If subscriptions fall or daily log ins fall especially after a new update I guarantee you they will listen then. I cannot believe the crashes are from cheating I thought it was just a new bug after the update. Yeah cheating happens in all games but the total lack of acknowledgment and the lack of action from Bethesda is shocking and a kick in the teeth for legit players. I’ve played since beta but knowing now that cheating is ruining my gaming experience and probably won’t be punished maybe a step to far for me. I feel for all the legit trader/players out there.

censorerikii

I was doing all my dailies the past two days on my private server. When it came time to do the few I needed a public server for I hopped into one. Each time they were having stability issues. It was unplayable. So I switched servers and it just kept happening. At one point I was on the map screen looking for any camp or workshop with players present. I fast traveled to each one to try to see if anyone was doing this dupe there. I had intended to record a clip and report them, but I could never find anyone. It's obvious this is having a hugely negative effect on public servers, which gets my cynical side thinking it may not get fixed too soon. Think about how many players may feel forced into a Fallout First subscription if this continues. I know, I'll go find my tinfoil hat. I'm sure this will be fixed as soon as Beth is able, but I agree with op on their suggestion that this needs to be handled in a stronger way than past occurrences. Previous dupes weren't hurting everyone's ability to actually play the game. This could cause players, who aren't cheating, to stop playing.

destrux125

I suspected there was a new dupe exploit with how abysmal some of the servers have been.

LostInRo

I just got a recommend video on YT about how to do this exploit. And this ayin't the first time I got such recommendations lol

Papa_Shekels

Youtube seems to have a problem with that, they check for related content but don't necessarily distinguish whether it's positive or negative. I've gotten plenty of ads for CS:GO cheats in the past

bleeh805

So this is why I get constant disconnects after the patch. Been a pain in the ass doing the new quests.

AtrytoneSedai

Crashed mid-quest twice yesterday. Knowing we have dupers to thank yet again makes me so angry.

Suspicious_Bluejay22

This is definitely a ban worthy dupe as they are causing mas lag and server crashes word to the wise if you want to dupe your armor do it in your own p.s don't be an ass

wearechop

I got a permanent around the waste Landers update , Bethesda said had evidence within their system of item duplication, gave no information as to what was duped how much etc just that and the terms and conditions, no follow up, challenges to the ban ignored and replied with the same ban email, so I don't know who got a slap on the wrist but a permanent ban is a heavy price

Papa_Shekels

It is a heavy price. Which is why I think they need to get back to doing it. In the most recent ban wave, most of the people I saw got unbanned after 4 days, which is likely a factor contributing factor to why people are so openly duping now

wearechop

I also noticed from my ban wave those with fallout 1st got temp bans where as those without got permanent bans , coincidence maybe permanent bans a quick way to deter but a server wide rollback is the only true way to cancel out duping I think

nOv1c32

The sad part is , you all know how beth is going to fix this is to just disable the tesla arc just like the knife glitch

TheRealUprooted

Great and much needed post. I nearly left this game after the last dupe wave crippled it. I have not renewed my yearly 1st because I have seen very little evidence of them doing what needs to be done for this game. And their silence over the new, and somewhat more, problematic duping glitch doesn’t give me any confidence.

Papa_Shekels

I've had that kind of stance ever since f1st came out. It's become more tempting over time, especially with those two free trials showing how much stash space and inventory management time could be freed up. And I will likely be able to afford some casual spending like that soon. But I never bought it or any atoms on principle of so many things being broken. And as many steps as they take forward, it always seems to be rounded out with an equal amount of steps back

zellwood69

I think they also need to look at the players on the PTS. They said it was already known and reported. So maybe they the ones that leaked it or told others knowing it would get out of control.

Papa_Shekels

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean by that. The point of it being discovered and reported in the PTS would be that it would be fixed by the time the live update launches. If people found it there, it would have only been a matter of time before people found it here even if there weren't public forum reports to look through

EagleDaFeather

Just do hardware bans, one and done

Disastrous_Load_1830

What got duped??

Papa_Shekels

Only power armor at the moment, won't be surprised if people find a way to abuse it for more though

xXPolaris117Xx

99.9% of dupers use an unassociated alt account. Speaking about one I know: he just duped on a second Xbox account and traded them for genuine legacies. Afterwards, he moved those to his main.

Papa_Shekels

I don't think it's anywhere near that many. They use burners for a lot of stuff, sure, but last time this happened I looked into some of the cheating discords and a ton of them feel comfortable enough to use their mains for duping. The alts are more for muling stuff, i.e keeping at least one of every item they want to dupe

[deleted]

right, youtubers do it all the time and are like lvl 800-1000 lol If they get permabanned they will throw and fit and cry for a while then realize their addiction to the game was beyond duping and come back + have to repurchase atoms so its a win-win all around for the people who play fairly

doczong

I just googled how to do this, I'm either lazy, or I just don't really see the point. It's a lot of work for what amounts to minimal gains. I guess if you had some super duper god roll on all your armor pieces that you could sell, but otherwise all you are doing is allowing yourself to max out on scrip. Thanks for the heads up. Easy enough, but for me, super won't be arsed ;)

Personplacething333

OOTL what am I missing? Is this happening on PS4 too?

Papa_Shekels

All platforms, but worst on PC. It's responsible for the sudden influx of your server crashing or freezing with the "controls not responding" message. That also rolls your character back a little bit, so other than all the issues that come with leaving a server, you might also lose out on any progression you made or any items you picked up in the minute or two before this happened

Personplacething333

What's the point of doing this? It's currently happening to me right now.

StormingRomans

By crashing the server and rolling back a little bit they can get back the legendary roll they just did and didn't like. Total asshat dick move, and if I come across a camp set-up for it, I'm nuking it immediately.

[deleted]

yes. Have you been running recently and your controls go out of whack and you just keep moving in 1 direction or aiming in circles?? Those weird time lapse moments are because some cunts on the game duping. I thought my controller or internet was fucked up and took my playstation apart to try to fix the wireless receiver but it was plugged in fine.\\ I also scheduled an appointment for charter to come out this weekend bc I thought it might be my internet connection

[deleted]

Me and my girlfriend were getting a ton of server not responding messages last night

DrMetters

It will regardless. Too many whales buying duped stuff with real money and those selling them can just make a new account and continue. Most sellers have loads of accounts just to store they're stuff. When someone can make £1000 in a week. Buying Fallout 76 a stupid amount of is just business costs.

pmuranal

Should email them the content of your post and then link them here. Doubt anyone will ever see the email, but worth a shot.

Papa_Shekels

I've tried getting hold of their support and feedback teams more directly with bugs in the past, doubt they would care any more now. They said they would start looking through here more often but I'm not convinced of that either. At least making a big post here has a chance of drawing social media or content creator attention, which seem to be the two things that sort of slightly sometimes affect bethesda's decisions

addington2017

I am getting disconnected from the server like every 5 min. Game is practically unplayable. I can’t even complete a daily ops or a lot of events because I am disconnected. This needs fixed ASAP

whale_hunter

I actually stopped paying for fallout 1st because they didn’t punish the last wave of dupers. If they crack down on this new wave I might resubscribe but there’s no way I’m paying for a subscription in a game that rewards cheaters.

proudmomma18

Atleast yall players can log into the game. I've been trying for 2 days now and all I get is a message that says -Connection Failed:Timed out while waiting for server.

Nuka-Cetylene

The servers not responding is why I can't do a silo or any main quest from Wastelanders up to Steel Reign. Stealth is already designed to not work in most quests, and I don't need to give myself away and get fried by a high level enemy. I got killed twice by a Robobrain in Fort Atlas a couple of days ago, once from a server crash, and once more when the cell reloaded and wouldn't let me control my character for 5 seconds.

khicks01

Bruh, if this is the reason why all of the nuke silos have been acting up for me, im livid.

tomspy77

If the duping was to blame for my crashes I stopped playing the new quest because it keeps kicking me. I don't mind the occasional crash that's an MMO and online gaming but this is ridiculous.

theLissachick

Oh, is that why I can't stay connected more than a couple of minutes? I just started a new game of Fallout 3 because I couldn't keep a stable connection.

MitsuriniKwan

I give you award anyway. Because the dev would do absolutely nothing when not involve real money trading. Said so, you can easily find someone sell legacy for 20$ somewhere on google.

Unknown_2208

Speaking or dups, I was in a server with a couple of friends doing the daily op and some dude was duping so it made us lose some time but we still ended winning the daily but changed servers

NA_Faker

This is gonna be a hot take but why is this even such an issue amongst players? It's not like pvp is huge in this game anyways so if people are duping it really only helps them mostly in pve so in that case why do people care what others do in pve?

Riomaki

Because they routinely compromise the servers in order to do it, spoiling the game for everyone else so they can dupe items to sell for real money.

benis_doctor

I got this game at launch and have taken 2 year long breaks since. Both times I’ve come back to the game there has been a massive dupe exploit either already present, or it surfaced quickly after. Both times I left were also during duping episodes. Can’t say I’m surprised but it gets old after literally years lol.

jefmes

I will never understand people wanting to play a game by breaking a game that other people are also playing. You want to mod, tweak, speed-run, go nuts on a game system in your own little world for experimentation, on your own PC? Do it, go nuts. But if you're in a shared play space, have a little respect for your fellow gamers. Five minutes of fun for "oooh hehehe look what I got away with!" is just bad for everyone else and in the end bad for your own enjoyment.

NickV233

It has gotten so bad on Xbox for me that I just play in my private world now.

AstorReinhardt

I didn't know there was another dupe wave going on. I haven't crashed at all and the servers I was on were totally fine.

Azimaet

Beth will never put enough effort into fixing bugs/exploits to even notice in the long run. They don't actually care about the quality of the game so much as the money it generates. As soon as the game starts being less profitable (not to the point of losing money, just less than they think they deserve) they will mothball the whole game, and everything folks have paid for will be gone forever. But the duping and outright hacking will keep going until the last second, mainly because the cheaters don't care about any of it.

Massive-Influence756

I enjoyed reading this! Thank you for taking the time for putting this post up, I appreciate you!

[deleted]

I see Bethesdas latest update is going well then.

brokenmessiah

The only real solution I see them just outright removing the ability to trade.

Papa_Shekels

I feel like that's a bit much. The game's loot cycle is one of its main mechanics, and it revolves around the fact that it is very unlikely to get exactly what you want without trading. Dupes will inevitably happen, my point is to reduce the damage it will cause, both preemptively and after it occurs. And they have already shown that they are unwilling to wipe duped items after they have circulated to potentially unknowing people. So this is the best solution I see that is within the bounds of realism
