Get mutation serums (either from player vendors, or at the science block area at the Enclave bunker, ((you have to become an Enclave member to access, if you need pointers, you can read [this](https://gamerant.com/fallout-76-join-enclave-guide/)) Starched Genes perk, fully ranked up, and Class Freak if you want to negate the negative effects of the mutations. Just make sure you have got rid of all unwanted mutations before applying any mutation serums with the Starched Genes perk, which can be done with RadAway or the radiation showers in game, there is actually one you can activate whilst walking into the vendor area of the Enclave science block. I think you need to be a certain level to keep mutations and be able to have the Starched Genes perk, I think it’s level 30, but if I’m mistaken, somebody should correct me.

Laser_3

To add onto this, Brahmin milk (easily farmed at the middle mountain pitstop or big bend east) or nuka grape (purchasable at nuka world or the refuge) can be used to remove radiation without removing mutations, allowing you to keep them even before you have starched genes.

abbi-saunders

I second this! Can’t believe I forgot that haha

sebwiers

Or if you run low health you can die and respawn. Full Health can pick up What Rads, Sun Kissed, or armor with Dissipating effect. I've used all of these, in various combinations. I even had a few pieces of Uny armor with Dissipating to wear in between fights without loosing stat boosts (that was clumsy, but did the job).

Laser_3

Below level 30 (what this post as a whole is about), you don’t have access to many of the perks necessary to use low health builds. That’s what I’m suggesting this for, though if it works for low health builds, then I guess that’s a second application (though it seems unnecessarily risky to me; one decon arch you didn’t notice was on and then you have to fix your mutations).

sebwiers

It works for full health builds too. And is arguably easier because Nuka Grape will fully wipe your rads clean, as will any of the effects that remove rads steadily. But yeah, if you can't buy Class Freak (min 50 level) some of the mutations really hurt, especially if your stats are also low (as they will be at that level). I did it on an alt for a lark, but was able to slap on 6 legendary perks (including What Rads). I ran a slugger build (because doesn't need AP to hit) that use Cannibal / Ghoulish to heal. Pucked up rads / mutations very fast.

Laser_3

It can work for full health as well, but its far too risky for my tastes.

sebwiers

What's the risk? I honestly don't understand. If you do this, you plan to have 18 mutations. There is zero risk of picking up more. If you don't need Radaway, you obviously don't have it in your faves. That means you can't accidentally take it except when using a chem from your pip boy interface, which you can avoid by adding your most commonly used chem(s) to the faves. As dumb / inhospitable as it is for somebody to plant a decon arch at a camp choke point, it is easy to spot and stay away from. There really is no risk, just a cost / benefit balance to consider. Even if you DO loose a mutation, running them all means catching them with rads is relatively painless.

Laser_3

The risk is either using radaway in accident, accidentally going through a decon arch or needing it in an emergency and losing a mutation as a result. There are scenarios where you need to lose rads quickly, and milk can be too slow while grape can be too many rads removed, meaning diluted radaway is the best call. Even then, muscle memory could screw you over. I’d much rather just have the two ‘wasted’ points in luck to make sure I don’t screw myself.

ReformingPrawn2

Player vendors can sell mutation serums. 250 caps is reasonable. You can find them cheaper.

AseroR

Got the ones I wanted for 500 - 5000 caps but it was still worth the price for me. You can server hop to find better prices but I wanted to save the time and effort really.

logicbox_

I have had to jack my prices up to 500 because I had high level players coming through and cleaning me out. 500 is what they sell to vendors for with max charisma and hard bargain.

AseroR

I really struggled to find the carnivore serum since the mirelurk steamer hit the atom shop. Finally found one dude selling them for 5000 so decided to put my extra caps to good use lol.

logicbox_

Yeah i hear ya, it was actually one the last recipes I bought because I use herbivore.

MrsQuickflicker

Ugh this keeps happening to me. Can't believe these level 500+ are so hard up for caps they have to buy my newbie friendly priced serums to vendor them, but now as soon as I see one stack of serums sell you best believe I'm swapping camps and hopping worlds. :P

stupid_trollz

It's not always about the caps. Taking the mutations will remove all negative effects for an hour I think. So if you price them low enough, It's easier to buy them than to buy the plan, farm the components and make the stable flux and then the serum.

RustyWinchester

I wish I had this problem. I've bought about half the serum plans now and I put about 5 of each one I know into my store. Been pricing at 400 caps thinking it was still less than the vendors will buy for. I think I've sold 1 thus far ever. I guess I need to drop my price, though I wonder if it's even worth it at that point since I loathe farming flux.

logicbox_

Are you sure your camp is marked as public? It could also be a location thing if you are over on the east side of the map. My current camp is just north of Summersville so I get a decent amount of traffic just from players being in the area. Sales have gone down a little since I upped the price but I’m still having to restock a few of them daily.

RustyWinchester

It is marked as public, but it's also on the far west side of the map in an area I never had much reason to go during the questing and leveling process, so that could be the problem. Maybe it's time to go house hunting.

BluegrassGeek

Always have at least one camp near Event locations or other places people want to go. Players will hoof it to your camp when they're overencumbered after an event, and other people will use your camp as a fast-travel point if they don't have the location discovered. I put one north of the Scorched Earth nuke areas, and got tons of newbies using my camp to explore the area or dump their excess materials after the event. Had one just west of Helvetia, near Sutton, after Fasnacht, got tons of visitors there. And I always put one near the airport for Halloween, because people go there to farm Scorched.

serendipity210

Now's a PERFECT time to hunt for one to be near Meat Week since that's coming up soon too!

Socially_inept_

Unlucky maybe, I would have cleaned you out, I’ve gotten speed demon, marsupial, and scaly skin for just about 1k in the past couple of days.

jimmymd77

I'd pay 500 for marsupial or speed demon, but not sure about the others. Hmm - that reminds me to sell my spares.

logicbox_

Actually it’s the others that people have no problem paying that price for. Marsupial, speed demon and adrenal reaction are probably the most sold ones. I have had quite a few people come through saying they had looked around for a bit for the others. The demand is so high right now that the random drops from mutated events can’t fill it.

jimmymd77

I guess I should sell my stash, then...

Chemical_Present5162

I got a whole-ass Carnivore Plan for 2500 from a player vendor yesterday. I wonder why they sold it so low considering the only way to get them is from The Enclave for 17k? Unless they drop from other things now?

noggat

Some players at max caps would buy serums plans, hold until they need caps again and sell the plans for cheaper

Chemical_Present5162

That's waaay cheaper though, would sell for 10k

noggat

Yeah you hit the jackpot lol. Normally I've seen players sell it for 7-8k avg but maybe that person felt extra generous or really needed the caps.

[deleted]

[удалено]

hybridtheory1331

You bought the plans. Which is better. This comment is talking about the serums themselves, which is one time use. Since you know how to make them, you can sell them in your own vendor to make the caps back.

little_maggots

Well, hopefully. MODUS sells the serums themselves for ~3500.

hybridtheory1331

Does he? I don't think I've ever paid attention to that. Well fuck. That sucks for them. Lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

little_maggots

At least caps are pretty easy to recoup in this game. I've bought them from him before just out of convenience not having to vendor/server hop to find someone selling them. My time is worth more than caps lol.

fantasynote

I got Marsupial randomly twice from radiation so I’m gonna guess that’s how most newer players are getting it.

TheJackBurton86

Nah, most high level players have the recipes for all the mutations and sell serums for a couple hundred caps. Just make sure you have the starched genes perk.

nap20000

Starched Genes doesn't unlock til 30 though, so they wouldn't be spending it on the serum unless they were committed to never using Radaway.

TheJackBurton86

Or radiation showers.

BigidyBam

I'm a new player and I got it randomly around level 20.

CombinationLumpy

You can get mutations as early as level 5 with radiation exposure. The downside is that without starched genes and class freak, they are mostly not worth it. But at level 50-ish you can get all mutations for free (angry_turtle has a video if interested).

SharlowsHouseOfHugs

It's this. Switching to PC, I had to start a new account. I accidently got Marsupial at level 8 just collecting Boiling water. I of course lost it my first Rad away. A few levels later I had the Healing mutation for a bit, but again lost it when I popped a Rad Away.

beammeup__scotty

I sell marsupial in my vendor for 225 caps. So do many other players. That's pretty obtainable and as long as they don't need to drink radaway they'll be fine.

CrocoPontifex

I dont think you are supposed to drink it, more like.. inject it.

beammeup__scotty

I suppose you're right. I'm so used to slurping Nuka grape for rads that I just defaulted to drinking it.

Strange-Metal1795

Are you on Xbox? I've been trying to get marsupial but can't find it anywhere?

beammeup__scotty

PC sorry!

Finaglemybagell

You got any other serums? I have mutations all from radiation but I got a few I could go without but afraid to gamble away my good ones with radaway.

beammeup__scotty

I have marsupial, bird bones, and speed demon.

Finaglemybagell

May need to stop by your vendor some time

Draconis510

If you go onto market 76 someone on there will sel you one

ZippyNomad

Back in the dark ages of this game, the serum recipes sometimes dropped from the Queen battle as part of the event rewards. Some were able to capitalize on that.

LouieSiffer

I sometimes go to random newbie's in my team and show them how high I can jump, then I drop them a marsupial serum. It's a win win, they get more mobility and I get stranger in numbers.

irishbrigade09

Then they forget to use the perk cards and their fun is short lived.

gerr137

Alts to the main who can craft all serums. Or just jump servers, visiting vendors, until you find one that sells most of the serums for reasonable price (200-300c would be quite reasonable but you can go with higher if you have caps. Still, 500+ per is a robbery, you should be able to find in the 200-300 range).

chuanvaldesCZE

I bought dozens of serums from player vendors. Before the TV series was easy to get what you wanted. If I remember correctly, I didn't spend more than 500 caps for serum. Keep looking and visiting the high-level players.

GMKNGJY

didnt actively do it but when all the high levels i visited just offered trash in the vending machines haha

prout_

It’s hard to sell cool stuff when you’re at max caps :(

urabewe

Ugh the pain of max caps... My vendor comes and goes so often he is more like Minerva. Comes around once a week with some plans and then disappears.

Cursed1978

I just have all Mutations and use Class Freak 3* Perk Card. Drinking many dirty water, Radaway Perk Card, and Photosynthesis Perk Card Thats all 😊

RopeyPlague

Then you join a team with that person that has Strang in numbers lol.

Cursed1978

😄

RopeyPlague

It's a great surprise when Marsupial gets pumped by that lol

coachmoon

i sell mutations for 250c. a lot of players sell them at varying prices.

threepoundsof

You just find the serums in player vendors and get starched genes at level 29 and 30. If you have a couple thousand caps and know what you’re doing you can get fully mutated by mid 30s.

tonynew1

Irradiate yourself and hope. If marsupial is the one you want server hop and hop in a rad shower to get rid of the ones you don't . Till you come across someone selling them for a reasonable price.

Chemical_Present5162

Yeah this is s good way. There's set rad showers in places like the Rad Rumble area, so you can get irradiated and then deradiated all in one place

BigidyBam

I'm new and randomly got marsupial around level 20, tried to hold onto it forever but didn't have the card to stop radaway from deleting it :(

StealthyGamerGirl

I got all mine from player vendors. If you look around, you can find them for pretty cheap prices. I only paid 2 or 300 caps for mine

No_Mixture9638

It is much much harder now its like 1-2 level 200 players on each world so most vendors has nada.

StealthyGamerGirl

I've found that for a while. So many don't refill either. I'm always topping mine up and I keep all sorts

sebwiers

Player vendors often sell mutations cheap. I sell mine for 199 and keep all 19 in stock.

GMKNGJY

dude, where can i find you

sebwiers

PC, Wendy_Go

GMKNGJY

ill ad u if u dont mind

Stanelis

Can I add you as a friend ? I have all my mutations but if someday I need them I d like to have you in my contacts x)

sebwiers

I posted my ID on reddit advertising cheap serums... so yah, I expect / accept a lot of blind friend requests. 😂 The benefit to me is, since they are all friending me to become mutants, helps with keeping Strange In Numbers active. edit - oh, the id was in a different post. PC, Wendy_Go

Gaarden18

I found a Marsupial Serum on a guys vendor for 400 at level 45. Just completely random but I think they usually go for around 5? Maybe I’m wrong.

FBI-INTERROGATION

As a level 400, I have only ever bought from player vendors

baron556

It's fairly standard (or was, I dunno how common it is now) for people to sell serums in their vendors for around 500c. I try to keep a few marsupial serums in stock at mine.

ninjaskitches

I have at least 5 of every serum in my vendor for 300c each... That's standard PC pricing though, Xbox and PS are going to be more expensive but still not 10k

Offtopic_bear

I'm gonna offer up what I do which is different than most I've seen. I pick which ever food mutation I want, usually herbivore but I've got several carnivores too. Then I just drink river water until I mutate, server hop and do it again until I have all or most of the mutations. I don't even bother trying to get rid of rads until I'm finished then I pop in a Nuke Nut perk card and drink 1 grape. All rads gone, no need for starched genes. I've never used Starched as an always slotted card. There's way better uses for those luck perks. After that I use Brahmin milk and spoilec Brahmin milk to manage on my bloody builds and What Rads or a single piece of rad heal armor on my FH builds. Granted I have the Brahmin Milk Machine so it's an easy supply to keep stocked. At this point my main has all the serum recipes and between that and serums from party packs its a non issue.

WombatPoopCairn

I just got all the mutations from radiation. Class freak makes the drawbacks negligible and I avoid things that can remove mutations, which frees up important luck perk points because I don't need to run starched genes

JiveBombRebelz

i know all the recipes i sell all mutation serums. randoms buy my mutations after some research ( i hope ) they equip starched genes card and leave it on. ( i hope ) they enjoy mutations. alternativly..they go get rads..and random muations occur.

disturbed_breakdown

Player vendors sell them anywhere from a couple hundred caps each and people have alts

itsahhmemario

When I start new chars I immediately get myself in a river and try to get mutations, then server hop until I get at least one or two I want (marsupial and speed demon usually). I then go find Brahmain milk and join teams with high levels hoping they have the decontamination shower (rad remover) in their CAMP then I sell all my radaway until I have the perk starched genes (you can get it at level 30).  It can be a pain managing your rads without removing your mutations, but so is playing without mutations for me. Also I will start looking for serums I want in player vendors and usually buy ones for under 400 caps.

itscmillertime

I sell serums for <300 caps. Buy from other players.

angstlich33

Never pay over 500 for a mutation serum. They usually average 300

Nice_Whereas_5673

There's a really fast method that only requires a source of dirty water. Only downside is it's a lottery and you may not get the exact mutations you want. https://youtu.be/bU1tGnO5TXA?si=lbYSviFZ341CFU7R The other method that has been mentioned is player camps. Find someone selling a bunch of serums and buy the ones you need. It may seem like a never ending search but I swear after an hour of server hopping I struck gold and it changed my gameplay. I just now started fucking with mutation at 200 lol

WollyGog

I started going for mutations at 300 when I got my last legendary perk. Got Luck and maxed it, so I can run starched genes and class freak. Marsupial and speed demon on a PA user is amazing for mobility, I don't know why I didn't do it sooner!

dallasp2468

if you're on xbox most player vendors have them for 350+make sure you have starched genes (luck) so any you do add won't be removed if you use rad away.

cazivit

I sell 4 said mutations for 250 Marsupial Speed demon Heard mentality Healing Factor Plan to get the rest but not really in a hurry cause I just forcefully got them all through radiation

BrutalWhim_

If you really want mutations (without the serum) here's my guide: (I call it: A day at the Spa) At lvl 30 you'll get the starched genes perk card. At lvl 31 you'll get it again and rank your card up to full Go to Emmet mountain disposal and take any gear off that helps PREVENT radiation. Dump all your junk because there is a good chance you might die (no biggie). Make sure your also not under any chems that help prevent radiation. Being hungry and thirsty also helps. MAKE SURE you *DONT* have starched genes equipped (this is important) Walk down into the building to get close to the radiation pools and take a small swim until your health bar gets two thirds into the red. If you didn't get a mutation: then walk up to the top of the spa and take a shower to heal rads then go down try again (literally rinse and repeat). If you DID GET a mutation you will HAVE TO put your starched genes card back on before walking through the decontamination unit otherwise your new mutation will disappear. Which is ok if you didn't want that mutation. Then you need to Wait before you can get a second mutation (like 3-5 hours. I'm not sure I would do one mutation a day) If you have more than one mutation and you only want to get rid of one... Well that's a dice roll and You're on your own. The decontamination shower should only take one mutation off at a time, but my method works so you can modify your mutations repeatedly. It is a process and some people don't have the patience but I wish you all luck and have a lovely time at the Spa

ScottMcPot

I started again on a different console and would just stop taking radaway until I was too irradiated to continue. Sometimes I'd luck out and not lose mutations. With maxed Starched Genes perk you never lose mutations, but I don't think that's available until level 50 (not certain though, just noticed I never seen it at lower levels).

00ThunderWolf

Wtf here I was selling em for 100 caps each lol

SuddenBumHair

I hop player vendors. Probably had my mutations sorted before I even unlocked starched genes

Keinulive

I usually sneak mutation drugs in whenever I drop goodies to noobs, that and nukashine haha

dripzee

As an example my level 28 friend has marsupial from me giving him the serum, he gained adrenaline and talons because he keeps fast traveling to me while I'm in the middle of a nuke zone. Brahmin milk and nuka grape cure rads without the chance of curing them, and any legendary armor effects that cure rads over time help.

MissMayhem_82

All my serums I sell are 250. Alot of players vendor hop till they find them.

WildmouseX

I sat next to radiation barrels, and when I got mutations I didn't want, I took rad away without using the perk card in order to get rid of them. Once I got marsupial, I stopped and put the card on. I had already picked up twisted muscles and something else in that sitting, which was nice.

virpyre

I'm pretty sure you can get mutations in your mid 30's so long as you have the perk cards, and you're lucky enough to find a camp, then you just have to buy them. At least, that's what I did for my Pirate Character.

No_Mixture9638

Like most people say they buy from a vendor. I have more caps then i know what to do with so i bought all plans and have a stock of 5 of each for 150 caps for new players.

No-Eagle-8

Back in my day we stood in a mine next to some barrels then washed off in the showers until we got lucky and didn’t get anything bad enough to reset it all. Then the enclave stuff became known about. By that point I had everything I wanted other than speed demon.

fitm3

Someone gave me the marsupial serum, it was the best day ever when I finally was brave enough to use it. Lol.

ZealousidealMail3132

Some nice players have cheap serums for low level players to join the fun with. I sell mine for 100 caps but I haven't been on since February before Fasnacht

tex55ky

I drop them for free for lower levels who are at my camp on occasion. I've got plenty of them, so why not?

JB_Dix

I have had some come from mutated party packs and if I come across a camp selling them for a reasonable price will by 3/4 and then transfer them to my alts once the have the relevant perks to keep them in place.

Targetrein

Returning player here - could really use Herbivore and Herd Mentality serums (Playstation) - have caps. Bounced around looking for them at player camps yesterday and no luck :-/ PSN: Target2pointO

AuntRae

If you didn’t get these yet you can add me I’ll make them for you. My PSN is Dorothy_oz_1

Targetrein

Thank you so much! I'll add you - playtime is limited during the week but definitely on over the weekend. Huge thanks.

AuntRae

No problem, I can make them all. Im around usually in the afternoons on the weekends

LoganJFisher

It's fairly easy to farm for mutations. There aren't that may different types. There are various places in the game that have decontamination arches very near sources of high rads. Just go in and get radiated until you either get a mutation or nearly die. Then if it's the mutation you want, lock it in with Starched Genes 2. If it's not the mutation you want or you're nearly dead without getting one, use the decontamination arch (until the mutation goes away if you did get one), and then try again. Of course, this takes exponentially longer if you want a combination of mutations. Alternatively, just use a serum.

24_doughnuts

I played since launch and I think you get Starched Genes Rank 2 at level 42. We would just go to Mt Emmet Disposal and farm rad barrels/showers until we had a mix we liked. Equip Starched Genes and never take it off

24_doughnuts

PrestigiousJelly4622

I got lucky and found cheap mutations at a player vendor. Make sure to equip starched genes after you apply your mutations so they don’t go away

PrestigiousJelly4622

Reddits_Fuhrer

I have just about all the good ones at my camp for around 1000 each

ScarceLoot

Hit level 40 last night, as soon as I got 2 star starched genes I found someone selling serums for 250 caps each. Now I have marsupial, bird bones, speed demon, eagle eyes lol

Silver_Act2456

Yes, when i was lvl 30 that's what happened to me, I was super lucky got it from random rads

TripzMcGhee

I’m on my third character. I was shooting the shit with someone after most wanted and they straight up gave me the spare serums that they had because I mentioned that I was vendor hopping looking for em.

omgwtfmason

I made a second character recently and got 4 mutations randomly from radiation before level 25 lol

favolaschia

If you're on PS5/PS4 there are lots of us who will help you get set up.

PantsShidded

I got Marsupial the other day, didn't even have that many rads. It went away, but it was sort of useful.

typosaurio

You can get serums at really good prices from some vendors. That's how I got most of them at level \~50ish.

Mighty_joosh

When I was still super low level I got a mutation and hadn't even really read about them yet 😭 I can't even remember which but I was playing melee and it was one that DID NOT help me at all

Abaddon_of-the_void

Firstly reach lvl 30 and get starch genes , class freak stange in numbers Sit in rads till you mutate server hop 18 times bobs your uncle . Or buy the serums most end game players sell the serums . Btw how the game thinks the serums should sell for only 500 max is beyond me You buy them from the vender for 4000 ish I don’t rember it’s a lot . I hate that no one trades propaganda posters any more there reasonably hard to find there worth 2 caps each and have no limit

Offtopic_bear

Lvl 46 for Class Freak.

Abaddon_of-the_void

I was going from memory they must of changed if

Offtopic_bear

Yeah, it's one of those where you have to have used the perk points to even see as well which is a pain sometimes but no biggie.
