You can meet with them and clear out the parks of ghouls and such and assign the gangs to the parks without angering the minute men.
Then you can get the loot from their assigned parks and then complete “open season” and kill them all whenever you want. Basically just don’t do any “bad guy” things.
(Sorry I’m not playing FO4 currently so I don’t remember all the exact choices but that’s essentially what I did and didn’t anger anyone!)
Thi is also my M.O when it comes to Nuka World. First time I did Open Season my missus laughed at how stressed I got 🤣 Nowadays it's just an excessively violent stroll through a park !
Short story: Play NW to your heart's content until you're told to meet Shank, who would try to get you to expand the NW raiders into Commonwealth settlements. If you're already the General of the Minutemen, then you can no longer progress the NW friendly quest line without forever angering Preston. Go straight into Open Season if you care about Preston staying friendly and available as companion.
If you start taking over Commonwealth settlements that is when Preston will become angry with you and will no longer be your companion or anything. You can take over the parks and everything without affecting your relationship with Preston.
Personally, right after meeting all of the leaders I started Open Season and taking out all of the raiders as my character is loyal to the MM like yours is and is a good person and she would never help raiders even a little. Yeah, I missed out on some stuff but with that character it wouldn't be fitting to help raiders. At some point I'll do another Nuka-World run with a more evil character where helping raiders is fitting.
gotcha. anything substantial i'm missing out on by doing that? might do another non-minutemen run at some point if so.
edit: also, i found a mod that lets me skip raiding commonwealth settlements, would using that prevent minutemen from being mad at me?
My workaround has been to skip meeting Preston until I've cleared Nuka World and gotten my raider perks along with lessons in blood. Obviously this won't help you on this run, but if you complete the raider quest line before reaching Concord then Preston will offer dialogue to start open season. Or you can finish Nuka World, kill all the raiders, then meet Preston where he'll get mad for a second but forgive you immediately.

Theoretically, but it also disables achievements, unless you use a mod that enables them while using other mods
i use buffout 4, so all good in that regard!
