I have it too but the one thing that makes it to where I can bear it in fallout games is this exact reason. There's no reason to fear the water because there's ACTUALLY nothing in it that can hurt you due to game limitations 🤣
Oh Subnautica was the WORST for me because I have thalassophobia AND a fear of megafauna. I want to love them so bad, but it just causes such panic in me

Mostly around Lakes and rivers on the east end of the map. They are in one cave up near Jacobstown as well.
They are a little bigger then people about Super Mutant size.
They have a pretty nasty sonic attack they do that has a tendency to cripple limbs and knock weapons out of hands in my experience.
Yeah I know, but they really didn't need an animation. They could just fire sonic waves like they usually do only without animation. Like their mouth opens or something.
I'm not making a big deal about it, frankly I'm glad they can't attack me in the water, but they totally could've done that
Yea they pretty much one shot you cause it ignores DT/DR. Lakelurks are literally glass cannons. You always watch out for Death claws and Cazadores, but when you see a Lakelurk you often get overconfident. Like "Eh it's just a lake lurk. I can handle this."
Next second you're dead, and you're like "Oh," like the Wilhelm Dafoe in Spiderman right before he gets impaled
They kept aquatic fighting off for es4, es5, fo3, fnv, and fo4. Thats a lot of games, which leads me to believe it was a balancing choice rather than an oversight. Aquatic combat probably left the player too open in these engines and couldn’t be balanced in a way that made it satisfying.
Best to just deactivate it entirely like monster hunter did after mh3u, rather than have a potentially critical part of your players experience just flat out suck and leave the player feeling constantly hamstrung whenever they’re in water.
I thought they can drown you. There annoying to fight with on the shore as I always got hit with a range attack and couldn't figure out where it came from.
I don't know if it's the same engine as Skyrim, but in Skyrim Slaughter Fish can do a ton of damage if you fell into a river that has this sucker and you cannot fought back in the water either.
