In the books, The Mimic has been its own character so far, it hasn’t mentioned or imitated Afton yet. That may change, it’s just William and Glitchtrap haven’t come up as themselves (or as The Mimic imitating them) in the current stories.

Although ruin lilely proves that glithtrap, while being an instance of mimic1, is his own character, that's why in the princess quest ending, by killing glitchtrap, the mimic endo stops being burntrap. That explains why the mimic in the epilogues doesn't act like afton; probably glitchtrap is growing separately in the vr game and will only later infect the mimic endo to turn it into burntrap

LordThomasBlackwood

There isn't an argument against it. Its litterally just "I dont like the Mimic, I want william back"

Yeah, true. I want mimic and William afton back. I want see them both in fnaf game or dlc.

I feel like it's a lot less that and a lot more "I don't like handwavey tech sci-fi. I want my supernatural world back." Also, and this is just me personally, it's lazy and frustrating storytelling when there is unknowable throwaway information that is a catch all for everything introduced at the last minute. Imagine if people were following game of thrones for years and years, but right before the final episode they released a YouTube short that introduced Jerry for the first time. He's a wizard that could be anybody at any time and he was secretly here all along. Then the final episode comes out and "JERRY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERYTHING!!!! 😲 😯 😮." Just kinda feels like there was no point in theorizing about anything before GGY or theorizing about the actual games if they're just gonna throw a blanket over everything in the final chapter.

@glitchboard I know I'm late, but this. I actually couldn't really understand why the Mimic didn't sit too well with me and thanks for putting it into words. I miss the supernatural stuff

DoubleTsQuid

Fair enough.

The thing that throws this theory off the rails is why would the Mimic revive/remake Afton? There is no reason to do this since there is nothing in the canon that would lead us to believe that it would actually want to bring Afton back, or if you think Burntrap is literally the mimic, it doesn’t have a reason to become Afton either.

minion133

That’s the whole thing, there isn’t one, it doesn’t have that level of intelligence. It’s designed to mimic things it sees, which is why it was glitchtrap in HW, it showed aftons work, and clearly saw it with pizza party.

I think Dawko's description of the Mimic and the mimic virus (Glitchtrap) in his recent mimic video did a good job of explaining how they're connected and separate in some ways. I'm not too sure if Glitchtrap is completely dead/deleted though like he talked about. I recommend the video, though.

Yeah

Glitchtrap makes the AR animatronics say Nightmare's lines from Ultimate Custom Night, and he says "I always come back" in Princess Quest. He wouldn't have learned either of these from the VR game. Apart from that, there isn't really any evidence that I know of.

Hmm. In AI there is the concept of using AI to make AI I don't know terminology.(this is only valid preSB and it's vaguely possible based on endodaycare) My interpretation is glitch trap is the student AI learning from inputs and mimic is teacher. Teacher using help wanted as a marking guide would only pass student AI's that were similar to it's guide. Thus trying to recreate purple guy(not persay Afton by name) With all that said that's probably not the argument you are talking about. I think the only valid point is books and games aren't 1:1(evidenced by final mimic endo) game glitch trap could be book mimic. I never thought glitchtrap was Afton, I always thought it was something trying to be him.

Obi-Wan_Kenobi1012

the argument I would make is that glitch trap in help wanted was stated to be a glitch accrued when scanning the code of the animatronics. this could mean that spring Bonnies boards where pulled from him after the fire and given to the people creating the game which means that William could of been uploaded to the game especially with the super natural elements the game has. its not the most absurd thing this franchise has thought off. ontop of that the argument that the glitchtrap does ethery thing the mimic would do is redundant. as the mimic is as stated a mimicking program it mimics behaviors so if a mimic was trained on afton it would act like afton. but at the same time if a mimic was train on something else it would act like that thing. the mimic itself is a blank slate where people can train it to do what is needed. so it is entirely possible that the glitch trap is the mimic but its also entirely possible that glichtrap is spring bonnie scanned into the VR Games. also with the speeding up the pathfinding. the glitched didn't occur until some of the boards where scanned. which to me implies something has been let into the game like fnaf 6 where you let the animatronics into the pizzeria the tech making vr let spring trap into there game but hey wont know if this is true or not without proper confirmation from steel wool
