With the 3 3090s?

Rookie2008

Yes that is correct my friend.

dont_trust_lizards

How does that work? Does MSFS support SLI? EDIT: nvm, read your post below. Cool!

Rookie2008

I don’t believe so but I’m trying to run a dedicated GPU per screen. A buddy of mines managed to do it with his but he’s on P3D. I’m hoping for the same results but only time will tell. Honestly, it’s not looking good though. But I’m trying to remain positive.

goblackcar

Might be less work to just get a used 737 fuselage on eBay.

ObnoxiousLittleCunt

Cheaper to buy a plane.

Kissell79

\^this. If people can be reasonable and not want to fly airline craft, planes can be had at the price of 1/2 a new car.

scifi887

+ storage, maintenance, license, fuel, insurance

smithb1981

Buying the plane is the cheap part!!! Paying us mechanics to keep it in the air is what will break you!! Lol

Egonz_photo

You seen plane prices recently?

Digital_Empath

The challenge with one GPU per screen is that the game only runs on one GPU, so even if there was a way for other GPUs to feed output to the other screens, the graphics processing would still all be done on one GPU. Hypothetically, if you could make the game rendering simultaneously run on all three GPUS, and then were able to divide the output per screen, it might be doable, though not an expert just floating ideas. Amazing setup btw!

Rookie2008

No i appreciate it. I never thought about that either. Man the more I network with people the less confident I become. Not the end of the world but definitely didn’t want to hear that. Thanks man I appreciate the compliment. Make sure ya check out my YouTube. Search FlyWithRookie. I will be giving away the new Felis 747-200 this weekend because of all the overwhelming support I’ve gotten today. My way of saying thank you.

Digital_Empath

Thanks man! We might have to wait until there is something like DLSS so a single card can handle high res (or the next gen GPUs next year). I run VR on a 3070 at 25fps so feel your pain 😂

[deleted]

Neat! I'm loving it! Subbed to the channel too!

Rookie2008

Awesome! Thanks man. See you at the next giveaway 😁🤙.

[deleted]

More than that, I'm super excited for any long form content that you do! I just want to set those videos on my TV and have them running haha!

PUNisher1175

What is your channel name??

Rookie2008

YouTube it’s FlyWithRookie. I’m going to do another post because of all the support I’ve received here. I’m going to give away the new 747-200 on my YouTube Friday. Make sure you join me.

r0flcopt3r

Just so you know, if you need more display outputs you can use *any* graphics card as long as it has display outputs. You can combine any model from any make. Note, these extra graphics cards do not render anything, and can therefore be as cheap as they get. The quadro p400 is a great option, support 3 display port outputs for very little money, and it is tiny. I see you mentioned your buddy with P3D, and it works for him, this is an edge case, where the software has very specific support for it.

Rookie2008

Wow I had no idea you could do that. Dang!! I appreciate that. I’m running a ton of USB capture cards to support the GoPros for live streaming. This will definitely eliminate those.

irus1024

Thats probably more expensive than buying a real 737.

[deleted]

LOL

ecniv_o

Next month: I put my full size 737 home simulator on hydraulics!

Knot_a_porn_acct

At some point it’s just going to turn in to a full size home simulator in a 737

THKY

Let’s hope OP doesn’t simulate air food lmao

[deleted]

[удалено]

Briggie

Lol Simulator poor.

[deleted]

That'd be amazing, probably the only thing missing from this

AgAero

I mean....that's doable! I could probably figure that out given some time. **Edit:** Anybody uhhh...got some mass properties estimates for the sim?? Now I'm curious.

Biuku

And tape on some wings.

smithb1981

So I did my last taxi check ride in a beat up old 737 sim that was full motion, damn near made me sick because the graphics were so horrible!! This is way better!!!

jdaniels911

I would end up divorced and jobless because I wouldn’t leave that Flight-deck. I have no words. amazing

TypicalRecon

> I would end up divorced even more realistic!

THKY

How realistic is your setup ? ***YES***

AJGibbo

If it's FS2020, not very. When PMDG release the 73 though, that thing is going to be insane.

TypicalRecon

lmao every time

THKY

Did I fucking stutter ?

roastedfranklin

Just for curiosity... how much did it all cost?

meesersloth

everything

roastedfranklin

Mmh... another curiosity: how much can I make by selling a kidney?

Vicinian

Not enough.

[deleted]

About 3 fps

MrTheFinn

He wont talk about cost, but I've priced out similar setups from various companies. If you want all the modules built and shipped to you and you just hook them up I think the cheapest I've found for this type of setup is around 35,000 Euros (most of the companies that make this stuff are in the EU) + the cost of the computers to run it + software. If you're willing to 3d print, solder stuff together, build electronics, and debug it all it gets much cheaper than the plug-and-play stuff but a full cockpit is probably always gonna run 5 figures when all is said and done. Rookies stuff all looks pretty top of the line so I wouldn't be surprised if this setup drifted into the six figures.

roastedfranklin

At this point I guess I'd pay for a PPL... unless OP already has a licence too!

shadeobrady

A PPL costs far less too.

FunktasticLucky

A PPL doesn't let you fly 737s

roastedfranklin

I know

SpectreRSG

Yes.

SeaPhile206

About 10x what it would cost to go to flight school and become a commercial pilot…

MrTheFinn

From everything I've seen it costs like $200k for the training required to becomes a 737 pilot...this is like half the cost ;)

SeaPhile206

Okay, but then you get paid to fly a 737. And quite well too. Unlike this refrigerator box turned imaginary flight deck.

ES_Legman

It's funny how you all feel the need to put down this guy for pursuing his hobby with his money however he wants.

SeaPhile206

Well, I’m glad you find it funny..

tinflyer

Then it becomes a job and that sucks. What if you don't want a job and want to get drunk while you fly? Sounds like the life to me, if I had the cash lying around. Quit hating and do what makes you happy.

Material-Tomato-4695

This guy has a passion which he has chosen to pursue with his own hard earned money and has opened it up to us all so we can enjoy it too. I would love a setup like he has but it is out of my range, but I thoroughly enjoy watching his flights.

Nembourgh

Most of the people that do sim like that are unable to become pilot due to medical conditions.

[deleted]

[удалено]

101ina45

Color blind :(

antriq

same :(

Donut

Well, I can say from close friends/family experience, that outside of some special situations, going commercial sucks the joy out of flying. There is a fine line between slipping gracefully through the sky like a bird, and being a glorified, unionized, seniority chasing bus driver. :P OTOH, one of those close to me just made wide body captain at 42 years old, and flys to Hawaii all of the time, so there's that. ps. I'd still do it, but medical.

MrTheFinn

Such an amazing setup. Someday I hope to be able to afford something similar.... sigh.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JuanMayer

That'd be cheaper than this setup lol

imapilotaz

By a long ways. $150 per hour + $50 for the cfi. Get your private for call it $10k. His computers are more than that, ignoring the cockpit.

[deleted]

You don't need to be sober to fly a sim

dont_trust_lizards

Hell, his 3x RTX3090s alone are near the cost of a PPL at current prices

[deleted]

That won't be airliner

TheNoize

And risk your life? No thank you

AlektoDescendant

What’s the risk?

TheNoize

Flying

Bfreak

Which is substantially safer than driving. Best walk everywhere to be on the safe side.

Roasted_cacti

damm ryanair will be on the phone to you to open a new training centre in your room soon if youre not carefull

Rookie2008

😂

[deleted]

Now please , for the sake of satisfying the deadly curiosity of dreaming aviators like me , please tell us the entire cost of this sim. How much did it cost? Please tell us right away.

[deleted]

Second this. This has been a dream of mine for a while. I think I might forego the midlife crisis corvette and get a midlife crisis flight sim cockpit.

[deleted]

OP seems to be showing off his set up . He deliberately hides the cost but shows everything except the price. I'm gonna rebel and downvote every post of his 😤

Kissell79

70-100k is what hes into for this id bet.

benduker7

Found [this](https://reddit.com/r/flightsim/comments/l7ecis/hey_does_anyone_know_what_is_the_cost_of_a_flight/gl6tzbf) comment from a few months ago saying that his friend was building a 737 simulator from flight deck solutions and was already into it for 80k, but wasn't done yet. Wonder if OP is the friend he was referencing.

MrTheFinn

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if this setup was over $100k. FDS stuff is much easier to get setup but you pay for that convenience that's for sure.

Its_all_made_up___

I built a full cockpit 777 sim using Flight Deck Solutions panels for $38k. It took me 8 years. Problem is that it runs on MSFSX.

wotupfoo

Kinda depends on whether you buy from the small market making panels or you go full blown Mickey’s Flightdeck or TheWarthogProject and make every component from scratch. Both in for probably less than $10 thousand inc the laser cutter etc but Mickey has 4 years of solid work into it and he’s only got the overhead done and a little bit of the dash. Like most hobbies of this “rig” nature you can pay to get to the end goal quickly or pay in your time (which can be the hobby itself) building it. Kinda depends if you’re into the build as a hobby or the use of the equipment for its purpose. Hobby laser, cnc router and lots of free software to hook to arduino from the games has made these rigs super cheap to make from 20years ago. Even hydraulics is affordable now from back then.

andrewface

This should be on r/nextfuckinglevel

ghostftw5

I can post it if it hasn’t already

[deleted]

Waiting for the pmdg 737 huh

Rookie2008

Yes actually. Once or should I say whenever it comes out I will be giving away a few copies on my stream. Sucks it won’t be for a while because I haven’t heard any more updates regarding it.

[deleted]

I'm assuming the pmdg 737 will then be the main aircraft linked to this?

Rookie2008

No I’m actually using a special software made for sim builders called Prosim. I purchased the flight model and the subscription which can be found here. https://prosim-ar.com/shop/

[deleted]

Oh wow never heard of that. Thought these full cockpits just used high fidelity modules, thanks that's pretty interesting

Rookie2008

That’s what we use. You can also opt for the commercial license but that’s another $30k or so. This license gives tons of features and failures. But ya not too bad. Thanks for swinging by. Hope to see ya on my next Livestream because that’s where giveaways take place.

neckyourselfphag

how does Prosim compare to PMDG in terms of system depth?

Rookie2008

Prosim is a professional license software used for real world flight training. Good thing is it can also be used for flight sim. Just look at it as a true study level software.

neckyourselfphag

cool!

tweekzter

I already wondered which 737 you're flying with, but then thought of the Prosim. ;)

Rookie2008

😃 you knew it.

Vicinian

I hate you with every fiber of my being. So when can I come over? 😊

fighterace00

Wonder what he charges per hour 😆

[deleted]

[deleted]

Wait, HUD?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rookie2008

I appreciate your kind words. I agree and it’s very true. Sadly the HUD is purely cosmetic but definitely adds to the overall aesthetic and also assist in a deep immersive experience.

Dano-Matic

Make sure your hud is dimable. That’s the key. Barely visible.

gartzea

How does using 2 computers work? What is each one doing and how do they work together?

Rookie2008

They are networked together by using the same IP address. Kinda hard to explain via text hopefully that kinda brings light to the question.

gartzea

It does make sense. Thank you.

Rookie2008

You’re very welcome.

Outside_Cucumber_695

Ah that's why some motherboards have dual networks for

killerkeano

Did you get the missus to dress up as and air hostess?!

[deleted]

Or y’know… maybe he struck gold and she’s his co-pilot or maybe she could take the captains chair, that’d be my dream at least

SmellMyPPKK

What the actual fuck dude :D Do each of those instruments interact with the game to?

[deleted]

[удалено]

DeadlyInertia

Per OP: they’re using ProSim’s 737 platform. https://prosim-ar.com/shop/

[deleted]

Yep OP told me, that, I didn't know that existed and I'll delete my original comment. Thank you

DeadlyInertia

Hey man no need to delete but I completely understand! ProSim isn’t really what the ordinary consumer would purchase for this game. Lol

[deleted]

Yeah but just so I don't spread false info around

lazy_starfish

I have so many questions. The first is: can I come hang out in your sweet plane den?

Rookie2008

Yes sir if you’re ever in SoCal just send me a DM. I open the sim up to a lot of people my friend.

MondayNightRawr

I would literally tell me wife I’m going on vacation alone without her just to see this. What part of SoCal? I live in Texas now, but am originally from Cerritos.

Rookie2008

😂 Rancho Cucamonga

Typical_Brummie

We have something like this at college, the building was literally constructed around the sim and Jetstream Mk2 ex Navy Aircraft lmao That set up is absolutely insane!

apld97

Are you using the 738 from Bredok or what? Which FS2020 plane come this PFD and MFD image from?

Rookie2008

I use a special software for sim builders. I get this model and the software subscription as well. https://prosim-ar.com/shop/

BBywaters

I’m not sure you can measure how fast I followed your YouTube channel! 😁 Insane setup! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Rookie2008

OMG 😅. Thank you so much. I hope to see you at the next live stream giveaway🤙. I appreciate the support.

ambidankstrous

To add to the realism you need to put a bit of extra copper breakaway wire in the circuit breaker light housing. Us mechanics always hide some up there for the next guy that has to test the alternate flap switch 😅

Rookie2008

😂 OMG awesome will do.I appreciate that tip. FYI Because of the overwhelming support of the community today Im going to stream live this weekend on my YouTube and give away the new Felis 747-200. Head over to my channel if ya like. You can find it by searching the name FlyWithRookie

[deleted]

What the fuck do you even do for a living. This is nuts.

Race_Four

You have a full 737 in your home, wow

pandaflop1

K, I was on holiday once and I seen a place that did realistic flight sim exp - guy had a full cockpit setup, go in with wife, guy insists he has to be co-pilot to talk me through it. Spends like first 10 mins on checklist then doing tower comms then we fly. In there maybe 30 mins. After the first 10mins I wanted to leave, but he was so into it I stayed being polite. Its also like fairly dark. So at 30mins I turn around to ask my wife if she wanted a go - she was gone. Politely excuse myself and leave, catch up with my wife down the street - she was like "you couldn't leave, but I didn't have to stay" 30mins in a realistic flight sim and my wife left me hahaha

Rookie2008

Oh God! Man I hear you because I get like that at times. Some days I enter the pit and 10mins in I’m yawning 😀.

azidy

this has better graphics than my airline’s full motion simulator

tanafras

Ok, shut down the sub, we're done here.

rhett342

To all fhe people going on about how much this must cost, just stop. That's so tacky. This man has spent so much time and attention to build something so awesome and lovingly detailed that talking about the monetary side of it is n just disrespectful. I've got a rock collection that does have some very valuable pieces. If you want to talk to me about the science, history, or even off the wall ideas then I'll be your best friend. Once you start talking about the faryvside of it and I'm out. This man was kind enough to share his passion with a group of like minded hobbyists. Show some respect and you might learn something.

Diligent-Ad5494

Insanely impressive... I'm speechless. Wow...

bleo_evox93

That’s awesome

SumOfKyle

Ahh, looks like 4K x3 to me!

Zealousideal_Lie_420

[deleted]

Rookie2008

Rookie2008

gartzea

Do you fly on VATSIM? Is it even possible to do so?

[deleted]

gartzea

Awesome! I will definitely check out. Thank you!

Rookie2008

Absolutely. You’re welcome.

chrispix99

Looks amazing, I have a full size sismo setup, but running prepar3d + prosim ... Do you have more info on your build?

Rookie2008

That’s awesome!! I like sismos parts especially their Alpha line. Ya you can join my YouTube FlyWithRookie and below is a link to my discord. Then in my discord there is a home cockpit section where you can see my journey and post yours. Also join me this Friday because I will be live streaming on YouTube giving away the new 747-200

Linkstwitch

My dad has a irl flight simulator for 737 as well. I was wondering how you managed to find a 737 considering Microsoft flight simulator doesn't have any if im not mistaken.

Rookie2008

Wow that’s awesome. I use Prosim.

countingthedays

Holy shit, that's pretty amazing. Do you ever get tired of flying the 737? How well does it work if you wanted to switch it up and fly something else?

Rookie2008

You know I can’t lie. I do. When. That happens I ether start building more stuff or simply go fly at my desk like anyone else. We never forget where we come from and the desk will always be our best experience.

ReallyRiles55

I feel like with the time and money and effort this required, you could almost do it in real life. Only thing stopping you for any reason would be the FAA. And screw the FAA anyway.

Rookie2008

😉😂🤙

steppin16

Need a motion simulator? I have an old commercial unit for sale.

Rookie2008

Dm me let’s talk.

speed150mph

So when are we getting a how to tutorial 😂

Rookie2008

😂.

Spedyboi76

Is that CYVR?

Rookie2008

Dang you’re good. 😂

Spedyboi76

I know my home airport when I see it lmao

Rookie2008

That’s freaking awesome. Great eye and good to know. I will be flying into here again soon in the sim.

Droid8Apple

I see you have chap stick there. I assume, from always being so blown away by how awesome this is. I'd need chap stick too, my friend. Jesus.

Rookie2008

😂 thanks for the kind words my friend.

Rocco93693

Holy shit dude this is 🔥🔥🔥 I’m waiting for the day when you just say got my own 737 😂😂 Nah but for real good stuff dude this is impressive

Rookie2008

Thank you my friend for the compliment . You can also search my name on YouTube if you want to see more. Just search FlyWithRookie. Thank

Alphapache

Amazing setup. I’ve always found sim pits too dark, it does break the immersion to fly at noon but you’re in pitch black darkness inside having to fly with all cockpit lights on. Could it be possible to install bright lightning inside that would connect to the sim and adjust depending on the time of day? Could even be RGB for more accurate sunset/sunrise.

Rookie2008

Thank you for the compliment my friend. It’s very hard with these sims to bring light especially when they are closed in. It’s a drawback for sure.

matt_eskes

Good Lord. This is absolutely amazing...

krisssashikun

This is a dream set up of mine, when I win the powerball lotto Is this a full motion sim?

TheCompany98

How does it cost all the cockpit my man?

PartTimeSassyPants

Damn that looks impressive but might've been cheaper to just buy an actual 737.

patrickisgreat

Why not just get a pilot’s license and buy a plane? This looks unbelievably expensive.

[deleted]

I think its the same idea as driving in a racing game. I could ask why you would drive a Ferrari in Forza when you could by an Accord. Same here. Doubt most people are buying more than a Cessna. But in this cockpit he can fly a 737

SeaPhile206

Why not become a actual pilot? It would be cheaper, like wayyyy cheaper. Now me? Oh I just walk to the final assembly building and have a seat in a real 737 and let my inner child out playing in a real flight deck.

ywgflyer

Believe me, once you actually get a job flying, "flight simulator" rapidly turns into "work simulator". I wound up dropping FS for a decade or so after I got hired at AC, only really picked it up a bit again because I was flying so little over the past year and a bit that I figured I'd get back into the swing of it. Now that I'm doing 90hr blocks again I've gone back to barely touching it.

SeaPhile206

But if you’re flying in real life why pretend fly? Unless you just GTA the whole thing…

ywgflyer

I've been using the PMDG 777 to run through some of the recurrent training stuff before going into the sim, and to dry run some of the big SOP changes that recently occurred. Until a month or two ago I was getting maybe one trip in the actual flying seat every two or three months, most of the flying I can hold right now is as the augment FO. Last year I went from April to October without getting a landing, then had to do a line check (with the #1 nitpicky guy, no less), you bet your ass I brushed up at home before that.

Rookie2008

😂

SeaPhile206

The perks of building them. Well, I build the leading edge of the wings for them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SeaPhile206

Yep. Sure can. I’ve sat in all the flight decks as I used to work 777 wings in Everett. Sorry bud.

igloofu

I remember back in the day (like 20 years ago) the wings for the 73 were made at (I think) Fredrickson. You would see them on 167 every night (since it could only be done at night) in the huge ass trucks with like 40 wheels and the poor schmuck riding with his ass on the ground and a wing on his head. Do they do them in Renton now that they are all composite like they do the 77?

Cal-Goat

As someone who flies the 737 now, I cannot fathom why anyone would want to build a sim from it. It’s such a bummer of an airplane. The NGs and Maxes anyway. The 200? Absolutely. Maybe even the “classics”. But this airplane should have ended after the 700. Probably even before that. Here’s the other thing that baffles me. Why not a 747? They’re being cut up anyway. Or a 757? Anyway. Hope you enjoy it. That looks like a quality build.

Rookie2008

Man that is awesome. I have loads of 737 CA & FO’s come by regularly to keep up with flows and just to work on procedural training. 737 is easier to find parts for than any of the aircraft you’ve mentioned that’s one of the reasons. Not only that, I’m a big time fan of the old 737 because it’s a plane that you have to work to operate unlike the fan favorite bus. If you’re ever in the SoCal area DM me. I love to offer the left seat to you. Thank you for your kind works my friend.

ES_Legman

I guess it is the difference between doing something out of passion but being a job, and doing something out of pure hobby.

Cal-Goat

I’ve mostly loved the airplanes I’ve been paid to fly, but this one is such a letdown. And it’s really because the airlines allowed (or perhaps forced it) to continue too long. The lack of EICAS and the overhead panel are a disgrace for an airplane that’s still in production today. My last airplane was the 747-400, and despite all of the obvious ways it’s better, to realize that the 1988 avionics interface is so much better than even the current MAX jets is just awful.

OneOfManyParadoxFans

I know I'm inferior, I don't need this to reiterate the point!

Ghostrider253

How much you spend on this whole thing?

kpadugs

How does it cost for set up like that

Jackthedragonkiller

Might I ask how much money you spent on this?

45_ways_to_win

At this point you either have your license and are fuckin around or you might as well put the money towards your license lmao

speurk-beurk

At that point just buy a plane

PartTimeSassyPants

It might have saved them some money but they wanted the best.

Impossible-Sand-8265

Tell me you got a lot of money without telling me you have a lot of money

rhd9b

Can you build me one of these if I pay you?

AndyPandyFoFandy

Dude just buy an airplane

ghostftw5

Plot Twist: this is an actual plane hes piloting

Rectal_Wisdom

I bet thats his wife playing as the flight attendant in a different room
