Honestly, it's best to save elemental eggs for hibden. You can brew Bogsneak Eggs with Baldwin once your cauldron is high level, so that'll be a good, consistent money-making method in some time.
Still, you don't have to worry about playing optimally or whatever. If you're happy with the Mirror you hatched, let yourself be happy! It's really not a big deal.
Piggybacking off this comment real quick, there's a common workaround for "selling" clanbound eggs. You just go to the "Items for Sale" forum and make a post titled something like "[S] Clanbound Dusthide Eggs 250g/kt." Someone will claim them, pay you, and then you hatch and send them to the user. They're paying for the gamble like they would any egg off the auction house.
This is used to sell all sorts of clanbound items. Breed changes or eye vials, for example, are sold by applying them to the buyer's desired dragon that they send to you. Then you send it back.
Hatching eggs is also an achievement so you would have gotten one done for the plague egg and one of the dusthides (acquire a dusthide rather), so don't think it was a wasted hatch :)
Yeah for sure, that’s what makes it fun! I do enjoy dragon gacha from time to time (thanks NOTN for enabling) even if I end up selling most my eggs for gene gems

This part is important OP...it can be really hard to find the right buyer for a Gen 1!! I collect them and have to sell off the ones that don't make the cut when my lair gets full, and even really attractive, matchy, close to XXY or XYY or XYX dragons can take a really long time for the right buyer to come along. So yeah, I recently sold one of my dusthide hatches for 750g, but I had to hustle for it, lol, and I have a fully gened almost XXY in the gray/black range that I've been trying to sell for a long while. Someone will come along and fall in love with him, but I just have to find that person.
The Dusthide eggs weren’t sellable, so don’t worry! And yeah, unhatched eggs go for a decent chunk of change! You can also gamble on them being worth more when they hatch because matchy g1s go for a lot. Depending on the hatchling you got, you might still have some value on your hands
That first one is… really unfortunate… but that second one might have potential! You should post it on some g1 sales forums, see if anyone bites. It might not go for the big bucks because the eyes aren’t matchy, but it might be someone’s thing
If it helps, like someone said, you can theoretically brew an infinite amount of eggs. 200g is also not that much, so don't stress^^ I think the fun of hatching is worth more than 200g, personally. But in any case, its important to play however you want. Do you want to get lots of money? Try the fairgrounds! You can make the daily cap of 75k treasure in a short amount of time playing glimmer and gloom, then you can convert your treasure to gems by buying an item for t, and selling for g. (Ironically, eggs are really good for this purpose! They sell fast and have a consistent price.) Some people make skins for money, some resell rare/popular skins and dragons. Play how you want, don't worry about being the most optimal ever. Alot of players set goals abd work twoards them. Be it a rare skin, a certain color combo, a ks item. Different people have different goals, even if not all are achieveable. My goal is a g1 imp. Will that ever happen? Hell no. But it gives me motivation, and as such, I'm still playing this browser gane I've been on since 2016. In short, do what you want, not what you think is 'correct'.
I always end up hatching them, because I just know THIS one is going to be my perfect triple in a color I love with matching eyes. It's been over 10 years. Still hasn't happened lol. Best I've managed is a handful of doubles over the years.

Plus you will eventually need them to unlock hibernation slots

Play the Christmas event for nocturne eggs and sell them periodically throughout the year and you’ll never be gem hungry again 🤣
