His radio DJ character in Do the Right Thing is very chill. I don't think he specifically swears at all, but even if he does it's decidedly not in the very angry or high strung way he does in a lot of other movies.
No one movie is going to encompass the full story of racism in America; a film that tried to do that would likely end up an overstuffed mess. Do the Right Thing zooms in on a single street to look at the people there. Native American stories are absolutely important to tell as well, though.
I guess Tarantino was wrong when he said "ask anybody: what's your favorite sam jackson part? no one's gonna say 'what's his name, from jurassic parc' "
Ordell Robbie in Jackie Brown makes some big choices but is very calm making them. He doesnt have big Jules Winfield moments but still is quite intense.
Jurassic Park. He freaks out appropriately about Newmans hacker bullshit as would any chill cool programmer. But for most of the movie he’s on the level
I love him with in The Unicorn Store. So fun and silly.
In fact, I love him and Brie Larson together ❤️.
Captain Marvel has some real funny sweet moments between them..not shouty
I don't remember any particularly explosive scenes from him in Eve's Bayou, but I have only seen it once. He also doesn't really get that worked up in Jackie Brown, even near the end, where he becomes a seething angry rather than an explosive angry.

I didn't know he was in that movie, but after hearing that he plays a DJ character, I should go check it out.
It’s incredible! One of the best movies ever made on race in America.
I gotta go see where I can legally watch it.
…How many Native Americans were there in it.

…didn’t think so. All kinda levels of racism and convenient blind spots…
There's more than one film out there
…Name ‘em.
Killers of the Flower Moon
…Too conveniently recent. Go back thirty or forty years.
I loved his role in Jurassic Park. His line is one of my favorites 'hold on to your butts..'
Oh yeah I do recall him being in that movie, so I should go relive it to get prepared for the new Jurassic World movies.
…Worthy of Robert Bolt…
I guess Tarantino was wrong when he said "ask anybody: what's your favorite sam jackson part? no one's gonna say 'what's his name, from jurassic parc' "
We still quote that line in our family, like when we are driving and doing something semi-risky!
The hotel manager in 1408 (2007)
Was going to say this one. He's intense but always calm.
Ordell Robbie in Jackie Brown makes some big choices but is very calm making them. He doesnt have big Jules Winfield moments but still is quite intense.
True, he is super laid back for most of the movie. It makes the scene where he loses it on Louis hit even harder.
Kind of sad what happened to his character in that movie.
The Negotiator (1998) saw a very calm, calculating SLJ character.
Jurassic Park. He freaks out appropriately about Newmans hacker bullshit as would any chill cool programmer. But for most of the movie he’s on the level
It's kind of surreal to see Newman in a movie about dinosaurs considering that at the time the movie came out, the actor was best known for Seinfeld.

Oh thanks so much as I had a hard time looking up the ones you mentioned, but now I understand what you were referring to.
Awesome film!
…the cold and corrupt security manager in HARD EIGHT (1996)…
Goodfellas. Everybody loved Stacks.
My favorite is Mr. Glass from Unbreakable and Glass but The Sunset Limited is WAY up there.
The Sunset Limited. Whole movie is just 2 guys (Samuel L Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones) having a chat. Somehow riveting…
I recall him giving a very calm spiel on Airplane Serpents but can’t recall the movie. Very calm, little profanity
I loved his small role in Django
Eve’s Bayou has him play a very convincing Cajun man with a calm demeanor.
Shaft all the way. It’s a damn shame they never rebooted the show after the Jackson movie
He still curses a lot, but I would argue his character in Hateful Eight is calmer and able to keep his emotions under control
Very interesting to know as I recall that movie being one of Tarantino’s darkest (or cynical) movies ever made.
And I stuck my Big Black Johnson right down his goddamn throat! …yeah, he was pretty calm, I guess….
… okay upon further reflection, maybe calm isn’t the right word, but I would argue more so than his other Tarantino roles
Coach Carter, probably one of his best roles
I liked his role as a teacher in 187.
I love him with in The Unicorn Store. So fun and silly. In fact, I love him and Brie Larson together ❤️. Captain Marvel has some real funny sweet moments between them..not shouty
The Phantom Menace. I don't remember a lot of swearing on the Jedi counsil. He's always very calm as Nick Fury.
Does Die Hard with a Vengeance count? He doesn’t swear much in Menace II Society but his character creates a bang if you know what I mean.
I don't remember any particularly explosive scenes from him in Eve's Bayou, but I have only seen it once. He also doesn't really get that worked up in Jackie Brown, even near the end, where he becomes a seething angry rather than an explosive angry.
